Robin,
This is a fair statement that iPod is very user friendly, as it really does to the Mac user like me. It is seldom to hear from our group of users having too much problem with our iPods, most of the time doing a Reset and a Restore will solve the problems. I have recently involved on fixing some PC's formatted iPods from friends, main problem was the iPods could not recognized by the PC. I am not sure whether it is a problem of a PC or iPod itself. However, I tried to put the iPod in Disk Mode i.e. treated as an external Hard Disk and connected with PC. Opened the iTunes then I managed to see the iPod on it. Further more, right click the My computer folder and go to Manage, go to Disk Management, and you will able to see your iPod there as external HD, reformat in FAT32 again. Once completed, reboot your PC and connect your iPod with your PC,open the iPod updater and click restore. (plug to AC Charger if you see the icon to ask you to do so.)Further info pls read the following

  • My ipod wont start and itunes wont recodnize it, what happened and how do i fix it?

    I recently went to: settings, general, reset, and erase all data and settings, now my ipod wont start and itunes wont recodnize it, what happened and how do i fix it?

    - After being connected to a charging source for half an hour, reset the iPod and then connect to your computer and it if appears in iTunes restore the iPod via iTunes.
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
    iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • My ipod wont synch with itunes,

    I moved my itunes from my laptop to my pc using the ipod as a hard disk, and now my ipod wont synch, sometimes it starts and then just hangs and says cannot copy blah blah blah due to an unkown errer 50. When i run the diagnostics the ipod cannot be found but it shows up in the list on the left of itunes and attempts to synch. Any help would be much appreciated as im desperate to get it working again, i only moved my itunes from my laptop because it is dieing and did'nt want to lose all my music, it seems that i may have inadvertantly lost it anyway!

    Hi, thank you for the reply, unfortunetly i have tried all the suggestions on that link (and quite a few more).
    The message is completely random as to whether its a download from the itunes store or something i have imported or a cd that i have added to my itunes. I have got to a point now where it will synch a certain amount of tracks (or photo's, books, etc) and then just give me an -50 message regardless of what it is i am trying to synch, my 80gb classic has now become a 50mb classic!

  • Ipod wont snyc with itunes

    I had to restore my computer back to the factory issue. It crashed Since then I have had problems with my ipod. I have a fifth generation one that has worked perfectly for 2 years. Since i restored my computer I have had to do the 5r's removed and reinstall itunes and quicktime. I have erase and restore the ipod back to as new. Now itunes comes up on computer and all my songs are there but I cant sync the songs to the ipod it tells me ipod wont sync file not found. Please help me i have read posts for 2 weeks now and have tried most everything and nothing works.

    I'm having the same problem. My iPod screwed up and luckily I had bought a warrenty with it. Apple sent me a refernished iPod but it says the same thing "iPod could not be sync'd because of missing file" what the heck do I do?!
    I restored it to it's factory settings and updated it with the latest version and nothing works. Any advice on this would be appreciated :]

  • Ipod wont Update in Itunes. HELP!!!!!!

    Heya guys. After installing Itune 6.0, I seem to be having problems with my Itunes recognizing my Ipod. Its plugged in and charging on a USB 2.0 cable, but when I use Itunes, I cant seem to have Itunes even recognize that my Ipod is plugged in and charging. It wont update it for me. Everything else seems to work fine, I can download podcasts just fine and go into the music store.
    Could it be that I need a USB cable? Before I would get a message saying something like the cable wasnt fast enough, but I didnt have trouble with it then.
    This is my computer that Im trying to get my Ipod to update on Itunes. I have tried to reinstall Itunes, but have trouble there.
    When I go into Itunes, I press the Edit Tab, then preference, then Ipod tab. It says then it isnt connected. But if it isnt connected, then how come it shows on my Ipod that it is charging?
    From what I've been reading, Itunes 6.0 is causing alot of grief. Im sorry if this is long-winded but I hope that I gave some details that would help. Thank you if you can be of anyhelp.

  • My ipod wont conecct to itunes or charge

    my ipod wont charge or connect to itunes.it has 20 percent batery.

    Have you tried connecting it into different USB ports? You might have a faulty port. If that doesn't work then I would reinstall os x then retry but keep that as a last resort.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • My ipod wont appear in itunes
    how can i get my ipod to appear in itunes?
    What type of iPod do you have?
    If you have an iPod touch, you'll want to take a look at this article and make sure the Apple Mobile Device Service is running -> iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    If you have one of the other iPods, like an iPod nano or iPod shuffle, take a look at this article and make sure the iPod service is running -> iPod not appearing in iTunes
  • Ipod wont connect with itunes
    cant download my music to ipod bc ipod wont show up when it is connected to the computer HELP!!!!!
    From what you've said, it seems as though the iPod has some incorrect information in its memory. The first thing to do, in this case, is to reset it. This is a lot like rebooting your computer as it clears out the memory but doesn't erase any files.
    To do this on your particular iPod, first slide the hold switch on, then off. Then, hold down the middle (select) button and the "Menu" button for about five seconds. When the Apple logo appears, you can release both buttons.
    If this doesn't fix your problem, you may need to update the software on the iPod itself. This is fairly easy to do, but will require you to copy your music back onto the iPod again, so it's better to start by resetting it.
