Ipod wont connect to wifi if more than 2-3 feet away from router

I have a 32Gb 4th Generation Ipod Touch which until last week was working perfectly.
About 3 days ago I started having problems connecting to my home wi-fi network.  If I sit within 2-3 feet of the router it finds it okay and will connect, but anywhere over that distance I get nothing.
All the other devices in my house, including another 4th Generation Ipod all connect okay.
I have tried rebooting the router and changing the wireless channel number, although I have always used the same channel number.  I have also done a Network Reset and Full Reset on the 32Gb Ipod, but nothing has changed.
The Ipod is only 4 months old and was purchased from Argos.
Is there anything else I can do to try and resolve this or shall I just take it back for an exchange / repair?
Thanks in advance.

My iPHONE 5 wifi is NOT working when am 3 feet away from router while my iPhone 4s has full signal all the time. Please help.

The problem would seem to be in the firewall in your router.  Have you tried disabling it? I assume you've updated the router firmware, right?  Consider bypassing the ISP provided router (using it as a modem only) and unsing another device such as an Aiport Express.

  • Satellite P745-S4217: No WLan connection if 10-12 feet away from router

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem with my wify conecction.
When Im near the router, the wifi conecction works perfect, I get a full wifi indicator on windows and I have no trouble surfing the web.
But when I move 10 or 12 feet away from the router, althoug the wifi indicator gets three or four coverage stripes, my laptop can't make the conection.
It's too weird, because my ipod works perfect and other laptops too.
    Hope I explained properly.
I tried the latest driver but that doesnt solve the problem, I change some power settings but that doesnt solve it either.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance...

    Thanks for the answers.
    1) I changed the power settings in order to have high performance for both cases. With the battery power supply and with the AC power connected.
    2) Im sure I have the latest update for my wlan driver.
Is pretty weird because (when Im away from the router) the connection works good for a while and then fails for a few minutes, after that, works just fine again.
Maybe I have to change the wlan settings, I dont know. A friend told me that probably my wlan card is not well connected, what do you think? Should I open my laptop and check?
Hope you can help me, thanks in advance...

  • My iPod wont connect to wifi

Hi there, I've been having a problem with my iPod from the day I got it. (About a week ago)
It doesn't like to connect to the internet.
I try connecting and it'll work at first but if it goes into sleep mode it dissconects.
    It's very frustrating.
It shows the wrong IP address, too. Help!

Does this happen with all Wi-Fi spots that you visit?
Or only with you Home Wi-Fi?
If only your Home Wi-Fi, what brand and type of router are you using?
More info is needed from you.

  • My solution for ipod wont connect to wifi

my ipod touch wouldnt connect, took back to store received new one ,still wouldnt, went to apple store it connected to apple wifi, called router mfg up,i had to go into settins an change the channel it was using i was on channel 10 was advised to either us channel 6 or 11,i hav muliply devices using home wifi, they all worked except my ipod,i was told problem was probably some kind of interference ,everything working fine now,try this hope it works for you too

do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398. if for some reason it does not work try another connection. if the other connection is fine nothing is wrong with ipod (it is the router) but if your ipod does not connect to any wifi then you have to try restore as new (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414) but dont forgot to backup (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766). if your ipod still cant connect to ANY wifi then you need a repair and contact apple or an repair shop.

  • HT1695 If I am more than 5 feet away from router I lose my wifi on my iphone5

What do I do about this?

Sounds like your WiFi antenna is not functioning or is disconnected. To make sure it is not software problem, Reset Network Settings, tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if better. If still problem, Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. If still problem after Restore, then make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

  • TS1398 ipod wont connect to public wifi?

My iPod wont connect to public wifi, but it connects to my home wifi without a problem?  how do i fix this??

I believe I may have solved this
When you can't log into public WiFi ...
    with an iDevice…
because the Server times out ...
or the login/registration page just won't load ...
      ********Simply do this***********
Go into settings> WiFi and tap the little info icon for the network you are trying to join
If you see two slider buttons, these are the cause of your woes
One says "Auto Join" (or similar) - you can leave this ON
The second button is "Auto Login" - you must turn this OFF (slide it left so it is grey not green)
Now go back and reselect the network.
If the login page doesn't come up automatically, open a Safari window and enter any address
    Bingo!
I have reproduced this issue and solution in 100% of the public WiFi spots which I could previously not access. Please not that I also have "Block Pop-Ups" turned OFF in Settings> Safari, though I do not know if this is a necessary step.
I have filed a bug report with Apple. Feel free to contact them yourselves if this workaround works for you.
    Peace y'all

My ipod won't connect to my wifi unless I'm about 5-10 feet away from the router. Is this normal with the 1st gen ipod touches? I can't use a lot of apps because I need an internet connection to use them.

One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
