  • Ipod wont update, restore, WORK!!??

hi everyone, my ipod's been playing up, its the second time this has happened, the last time i managed to sort out the problem but it was an accident! It started off by suddenly deleting all the songs in my ipod, they're still in my library but wont update onto my ipod, saying there is not enough memory. I have tried resetting, and then update/restoring but I keep getting a range of different error messages from "Internal error" to "formatting failure" i have searched through all the discussions on here but none have helped!! the ipod updater i downloaded seems to disappear on my computer leaving one from jan06, which is obviously out of date. PLEASE HELP!!!!
    thanks xxx

    You've seen this?
    Internal manager error.
If after trying all else, you could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
If you need to, reset the iPod to exit disk mode.

  • Ipod wont restore or go into disc mode

My ipod wont turn on properly. when i try it displays the apple icon for a few seconds and then the folder/exclamation mark icon before turning itself off. I tried restoring the software but i get an error message saying 'can't mount ipod'. It wont go into disc mode either, i just get the apple icon. I think it needs professional help and i know it hasnt been a year since i bought it and it should still be under warranty but i cant find my receipt. any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

I just updated itunes with my ipod connected.  When the update finished my computer didn't recognize the ipod and then itunes thought there were 2 ipods connected to my computer.  After I disconnected the iPod I tried to turn it on where I get the big red X and what sounds like hard drive crunching.  I've tried started in disc mode, but it won't.
And smacking the iPod on the table, is that really the way to get it to work???

  • My ipod wont restore screen jus black

my ipod wont restore always different error everytime screen is jus blank

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Ipod touch won't finish restore

ipod touch won't finish restore.  It has apple logo with almost completed bar and it stops.  itunes still says restoring ipod software.  Just updated itunes.

I had the same problem and the sad thing is that you wont find any solution, I left my ipod over night with the apple logo screen and the loading bar almost full but it wouldnt move, next day it was still there, I had to unplug it, and I'm pretty sure this cause irreversible damage to your device in the long term since itunes warn you no to disconnect the ipod while the sync is being done and it also messed up my computer, I had to force it to shut down since it got stuck with itunes trying to restore my ipod, you just need to keep conecting your ipod until itunes recognize it as an ipod in recovery mode then it will sync again and everything should work this time, that is what happened to me. Good luck.

  • I had to change my hard drive, now i'v tried to reinstall itunes, it is saying i have to restore my ipod touch to factory settings, will i loose all my films by doing this, as now my ipod wont work anyway unless i restore ?

I had to change my hard drive, now i'v tried to reinstall itunes it says i have to restore my iopd touch to factory settings and will loose my files. I have a few films on there and they show up on my purchases. If i restore, will i be able to get my films back ? as at the moment my ipod wont work now untill i restore anyway.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your device manually before syncing, you can restore from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Here's how to:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your ipod to your computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your device for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.

Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also mean that you will not get support from Apple, including from this Apple forum.

  • HT201413 my ipod wont restore says an error occured (1)?

my ipod wont restore says an error occured (1)?

    Hi missnaughty06,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod can't be restored due to an "error 1" message, and you've found the article regarding resolving issues between iTunes and security software.
Be sure to follow the steps in that article to make sure that iTunes can communicate with your iPod. If you continue to see the error message, this article on restore errors suggests contacting Apple Support at this point:
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

after itunes finishes restoring my ipod touch 8gb, itunes still says itunes has detected an ipod touch recovery mode. You must restore it before using it with itunes. and i dont know what to do

Are you sure it is 1043? I've never seen that error before. But you can try disabling your security software, connecting the phone to a USB port directly on the computer (not a hub), and trying to restore again.
