  • Ipod wont fully sync

sorry i am posting this twice, i didnt realized i posted it in the windows section, sorry once again i am new to this..
So! i have a 5th generation 30GB ipod, and i have had no problems syncing it until this past week. When i plug my iPod in and click Sync iPod it starts to sync then it just stops and doesn't say sync complete, nor does it put any of my new stuff on my iPod.
i don't know what's causing this, however about a week ago i had to reinstall the installation discs on my macbook so the program DVD player would work, and since then i have noticed i've been having problems with itunes itself saying "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. A required iTunes component is not installed. (-42404)" could this be why my iPod wont fully sync? please help!!
so far the only thing i've tried doing is resetting my iPod and macbook several times. and ive searched all over the web for an answer and cant find anything..
any suggestions are appreciated! thank you! (:

Im also beginning to have similar problems with my 5th gen 30GB ipod! I hadnt had any problems with my secondhand ipod until last week when i purchased a song from itunes and it wouldnt sync! I reported an issue to itunes but it ended up syncing and fixing itself, or so i thought. recently i tried to add a CD to my ipod and only half the songs would sync. Now, anytime i try to add a song, purchased or from a CD, it begins to sync and then stops midway or doesnt sync at all. At first it would just not sync and then be over with, but now when i try to sync a song an error pops up saying "The ipod (name of ipod) cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." I tried updating my ipod software, and resetting and nothing changed.

  • Updated to new iPhone OS and now it wont finish syncing in iTunes 11.1.2

    Hi,
I updated (iPhone 4) to new iPhone OS (7.0.3) and now it wont finish syncing in iTunes 11.1.2
I wind up having to just unplug the phone.
Also - everytime I plug the phone into computer, it asks me if I should trust this computer and I say yes - but it asks every time.
Also a flag pops up saying it cant connect to an apple server. (???)
    (I am running Snow Leopard)
    any suggestions?
    thanks
    ds

You have to update to 10.6.8 first.
Then, if your machine qualifies, this explains how to get Mavericks:

  • IPod iOS5 wont finish sync and more.

I have been having trouble ever since I decided to update to iOS5. I have had many problems from not being able to get my music to not being able to get wifi sync working. I have currently got all of my problems working after 4 whole days but I just cannot solve the problem for not finishing the sync. I will start the sync and it begins doing its normal things.. backing up, adding music, etc. then at the tail end when you think your finally done, it display's this:
It is so annoying! It happen's every single time. I have tried everything (from the previous troubleshooting I had to do). I have restored ipod twice, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, rebooted laptop and ipod. I have lost all hope. Please help.

So I found the solution out today finally. It has to do with Voice Memos (or atleast in my case). I had to remove the voice memos from my ipod and then resync them back. It now works.

  • ITunes thinks it is syncing music onto my iPod and finishes sync without actually doing it and it is greyed out on "on this iPod" how can I add it properly?

My iTunes is doing the most frustrating thing.
I'm trying to sync a new album I've downloaded and every time I drag it across to my iPod (I manage my music manually) it begins to sync and then finishes almost instantly. Checking in the "on this iPod section" the music is there in that greyed out state with the dotted circles next to each item as if it were to sync but it never does it. Its so frustrating
I tried making it autofill from a playlist only containing the songs I was trying to add and receive the following message:
"iTunes cannnot add any songs to the iPod because it already contains all the song in (titled) playlist."
So it thinks the songs are on there but they're not actually synced.
If you'd like any further info it is an iPod touch 3G i believe, 32G,  OS 6.1.6.
almost filled up but space is definitely not the issue. The files are MPEG audio files 320Kbs
For the record I hate iTunes and all its f**king antics there has to be a better way...

Alrite simple fix if anyones having the same problem sorry, just gotta delete all the greyed out material on your iPod and re - add it seemed to work

  • ITunes wont finish syncing my iPhone and iPad.

    My system:
    Mavericks: 10.9.4
    iTunes: 11.3.1
    iOS: 7.1.2
    iPhone 4S
    iPad Air
Today I have encountered an issue with my iPhone and iPad when syncing with iTunes.  I connect my devices to iTunes and have the option selected to not allow the devices to sync automatically.  After the device has shown up in iTunes, I click on sync and iTunes does it thing until it reaches the point where it waits for the changes to be applied (on iPad this is step 6 of 6 and on iPhone this is step 7 of 7).   It reaches this point and then just does nothing, I get the moving status bar but the sync does not finish and I have to press the 'X' to cancel the sync and eject my device.  This happens on both iPhone and iPad.
I have contacted Apple Care and they have talked me through the process of disc repair and repairing disc permission from the disk utility menu from pressing CMD and R on boot up.  All this came back all OK.
The only thing that I have done to both of devices within the last few days for the first time ever, I have switched on airplane mode, I have never done this before and only had it on for a few seconds but looking through some other questions on the Apple support pages, could this have had an effect on the syncing issue I'm having?
Any help or advice on this would be great...
    Many thanks...

Just wanted to update my original post with some more information.
After spending the day talking to Apple Care about this issue with syncing, sadly Apple care could not offer me much help.  I was told they were not aware of any current sync problems or bugs.
I think the problem has something to do with the fact that I switched on/off Airplane mode for a very short while, I find it a little bit strange how both devices started to do the same problem straight after I switched on/off Airplane mode.
Anyhow, in the end, I had to go through the long process of fully restoring both iPhone and iPad and setting them up as new...

  • ATV wont finish sync

I finally figured out my router issues, and was able to set up ATV in iTunes. That being said, I am attempting to "load / sync" my music with ATV. Granted, my 160G ATV will not hold my library of 185G+, but each time I hit sync, the ATV will take another 5 or 10 songs before automatically stopping - with no reason given. So I click the sync button again, to load another few songs before it once again stops. I have repeated this process, gaining a few songs in ATV at any given time, but when I first loaded my ATV, it was an automatic and easy process (although it took a long time to do so). At this point, I have managed to import about 24G into ATV, but thats it. I feel I am waisting my time getting only a few songs at a time.
    Some background:
Hard drive failed a few months ago. Just installed new hard drive and reloaded all new system info, iTunes 8.1.1.10, Reset ATV to factory setting AND installed all new software to latest available, connected ATV to iTunes (ATV appears in devices menu). Had no issues importing 1G of photos with no interruptions.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Did you restore the iPod go factiory settings/new iPod when connected to this computer/iTunes library?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • Ipod wont stop syncing/downloading

HI, I'm hoping somneone can help me with this.
Basically after i downloaded one of the ipod updates I found that the litttle sign in the top left corner that means downloading or sycning (at least i think it does) is always there and it says "Do not disconnect", I tried restoring my Ipod, but that didn't work.
I'm manually managing my music, but I don't have anything set to sync.
It does this everytime I connect my Ipod via usb to anything. My parents reciently bought a new stereo system with a USB input for MP3 players, and it even does it on that, which I thought was unusual.
If any one has any suggestions on how to fix this problem I'd greatly appriciate it.

    guys any help?

  • Ipod wont manually sync or play music?

My son's Ipod nano recently stopped working like it should; it has stopped letting us manually drag music/videos on to the ipod or even letting us play music from the ipod through the computer. The manual sync option is turned on, but we cant manually manage the music, except by syncing/re-syncing everything which deletes everything and replaces it with the itunes library (which has extraneous songs on it). We have restored the Ipod to factory settings 2 times now and it hasnt helped at all. If anyone has a helpful suggestion it would be greatly appreciated.! P.S- The ipod has been tried with three different computers with no luck.

I can't help you on this but I could give you help. If you have a apple store close by you sould make a aponitment on the apple stores website this is how 1. Type in the location and apple store (exzmple:Apple Store Pacific Centre) 2. Go to genius do not say member it means you work at apple go on guest and follow the enstroctions. If you don't seach apple's suport page.
I hope this works good luck!!

  • My Ipod wont sync with my new library and I dont know why not. It will show that it is connected through home sharing, but it is only avalible when i am with my laptop! I dont know how to get this current library as mine on my ipod, help!

My ipod will not sync with my laptop. I have had previous Ipods in the past, but since then I have grown out of most of my music. Also about a year and a half ago I got a new laptop. I used the same Itunes name, but now on my new Ipod it has all of my old music and it refuses to download any of my new music. When I am using home sharing though, it says that I can turn on my "Library" but that my "music" is what is perminately on the computer. This only works though if I am near my laptop. When I try to transfer my library onto my ipod it wont let me. My music on my ipod is completely different than my normal itunes library on my computer and I have no idea how to transfer it. When I plug it in, it wont sync at all, or show that there is any device even plugged in. I am frustrated and tired of not having any  of my music, so someone please help!!!

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. To make this your syncing computer:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
