Ipod wont show up on itunes but shows up on my computer
Just got a 2nd gen ipod shuffle and trying to sync it to my itunes library. My library does not detect my shuffle but my computer does. When I run a diagnostic "ipod connection status" is red/failed and once I click help I am sent to downlaod latest version of itunes. I tried updating to the latest version of itunes v7.4.2 but when once I click on download it does not ask me to run or save, therefore I am also unable to update to the latest version. What am I doing wrong and how can I sync my shuffle to my library. Thanks in advance.
Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
What version of Windows are you using? Windows 2000 for instance won't work with iTunes 7.4, it's no longer supported which could be why you can't get the version you downloaded to run:
iTunes for Windows in Windows XP or Windows 2000 doesn't open after upgrading
iTunes 7.3.2 for Windows 2000

TS1363 iPod won't appear in iTunes but shows up on my desktop
When I to connect my iPod, it appears on my desktop, but not in iTunes.
Thank you for the response! I went to this article, and tried to follow the instructions. It said to: Go to
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
Click Go.
Locate the file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" and drag it to the Trash. (Do not move the similarly named "
However, I do not have a file named com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig.
Any ideas? -
My ipod Touch 5th gen wont show up on itunes but will connect to my computer and charge
When I plug in my ipod to my computer, itunes doesnt open. My computer is the only thing it recognize my ipod but itunes does not. It charges and pops up in my computer file explorer. I dont know what to do
Try
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

My 2nd Gen iPod Touch won't show up in iTunes but does appear in My Computer
When I connect my 2nd Generation iPod touch to my laptop it will not appear in iTunes. It does, however, appear in my Computer.
I have worked through all of the troubleshooting guides on the Apple Support section, and have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice.
This message appears every time I plug my iPod in, and frequently whilst it is still plugged in charging:
'MobileMe Service has stopped working.' This is a pop-up window produced by Windows, I know this is the 'service' that picks up an iPod's prescence but stopping and restarting the service does nothing. My iPod still won't show up.
Please help, I am willing to faff around a bit. Might it be a problem with Windows itself? If so, how would I go about fixing it?
Thanks in advance,
P.S I have the latest version of iTunes, and the operating system of my iPod is 4.2.1.
My version of Windows Vista is 32-bit.I have the same problem with my 2nd gen itouch.
I've tried other computer and my childrens iPods work on my computer so not a windows problem. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and resetting itouch as per apple support pages but nothing, it doesn't even show on my computer. Any help greatly appreciated :-) -

Just brought a new ipod touch 5th gen, and when i connect it with my cable on my windows 8 hp laptop it will recognise it on my laptop in my computer but it won't connect with itunes. I have the latest version of itunes, and have tried reinstalling it three times, along with following the apple help sections but nothing has worked. It connects on other mac, and pc's itunes however and believe it is a problem with windows 8. Anyone having this problem or know how to help? thanks
If you mean playing music from your computer's speakers that that work if you computer can act as a bluetooth receiver (like BT speakers and headphones) since the iPod can transmit music using the A2DP BT profile.
On the iPod go to Settings>General>Reset> Reset Network Settings and try again. You will also have to rejoin all wifi networks -

Thank youYes - you can unlock the iPad. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad. You will probably need recovery mode - the last article listed here - in order to bypass the forgotten passcode.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
This will tell you how to restore
iTunes: Backing up, updating or restoring iOS software
If you cannot restore that way, you may have to use recovery mode
iPad: Unable to update or restore -
When are the App updates on the UK App Store through iTunes going to start shopwing up?
I have 3 devices all showing App Updates. They can be updates through the device. iTunes 11.1.3.8 however says all my Apps are up-to-date, which they are not (and before anybody says anything - i only have 1 email adddress and 1 account and the stupid suggestion of moving a QT dll is never going to fix the App Store not detecting new apps).
It is damned inconvenient and rather labourous updating the same App on 3 devices, not to mention a cmplete waste of precious bandwidth.Hello,
Thanks for your advice. Even though I did not take your advice, I guess it randomly worked! I went into the App Store, and went into a search. Then I went back to updates and it showed up. Even after they were updated, the updates section was working again. Instead of showing a blank screen, now it shows the usual "There are no updates" message.
Just a tip, if you have not updated recently, Angry birds has an update. You might want to search for that. I think apple pushed a silent update to the App Store to fix the issue.
Can someone please confirm that the issue is fixed? Then my question will be solved. -
Hi, i need Help, ever since i updated iTunes to the newest one i been having an issue, i plug in my ipod touch 5g and it shows up in itunes, but problem is i cant click on it, shows my device is plugged in but its locked or something and i cant open it to sync my ipod. as seen in picture the device shows up but i cant click on it wont let me, i cant go to the sync page.
That means that iTunes is not seeing the iPod properly. Try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
Or
See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
- I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Hello all, I am writing this message in the hope that somebody can help me to solve my issue with my iPod touch fourth generation. It has been unable to sync with iTunes, but shows up in windows as the iPod touch. I also had this problem with my older iPods as well (Ipod nano 4th Gen, iPod touch 2nd gen(Batteries done for that one)) I can sync music with iCloud, but I have a bunch of songs that are not in the store, and I sincerely want to add those, alot.
I've checked the "iPod appears in Windows but not in iTunes" with the link here: (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363), and followed that process, but to no avail, it does not solve the problem. I've tried to reset the entire ipod by making it enter DFU mode and then rebooting the entire iPod (shows up in iTunes in temporary mode) but once restored, does not appear in iTunes, but still in Windows detected still as a iPod, looks like the iPod and everything. I also have the most uup-to-date iTunes installed (10.5 I believe, just got it today)
This is extremely frustrating because that is why I purchased the iPod (and for the games and apps, those are great too). The iPod was also purchased three days ago, and the setup still didn't detect it. I am not mad at anybody here or the Apple company itself, but I have not found any help online with the browsing option (for support of course).
Please, I would absolutely love the help, i'd be eternally grateful for it.
-TylerNever mind, turns out that by uninstalling the programs "Megakey" and "Megaupload" it had resolved this issue.
