Ipod wont turn on help please

last time i tried to turn it on, the logo came up but was surrounded by blue, not black. now it wont turn on at all and is not read by anything. ive tried the reset several times. still doesnt work. its just off and not responding. can any one help? thanks

    I had a similar problem with my dad's iPod Nano, here's a way to fix it for ALL iPods:
    1. Enter Settings
    2. Select Main Menu
    3. Switch the last option: Sleep to On
    4. Select Sleep from the iPod main menu to turn it off, then (of course) put the Hold switch on Lock.
    Must have solved your problem

    What site did you buy it from? You should be able to print off a valid receipt, as long as it's not an auction site like eBay.

    It is completely unresponsive! Ive read almost all of the apple articles about this and nothing works! This is the second time this has happened. The first time all I had to do was get a new charger! It worked for a couple of days then when I let it die and it became unresponsive to anything all over again! I cant keep buying new chargers!     i have had my ipod nano 4gb for about a year now, and i recently foudn it on a black screen so i thought i should just turn it on so i tried it but it wouldnt turn on so then i tried to charge it but still the screen was blank and it was making a faint buzzing noise when it was plugged into the usb cord
    i have looked through the forums and couldnt find info helping me so i decided to try this

    You did, you got 20 months out of it. It has a battery with limited charges. If you did not condition it properly it dies sooner just like all batteries. Furthermore, we only have your word that you put 300 hours into it.
    There has got to be a reason they are on what...5th generation? I work in manufacturing every time we make a new product due to "upgrades" it's usually because what you have doesn't work very good.     In the electronics world if you stagnate you go out of business. Same goes with cars, clothing, and the majority of things that are sold. Clearly, your approach is asinine given the marketshare and trillions of dollars that products that refresh with new versions make every year. And again, you can complain all you like but it worked just fine for well over a year and a half. It wasn't a manufacturing problem that caused it to suddenly fail. Maybe one of those kids of yours got to it when you weren't looking? That sounds much more probable than spontaneous failure.
    And, no. The Nano is on its 3rd generation. One generation for every year its been sold.

    well anyways im going on vacation today and i tried updating my ipod cause a while back my sister messed up my computer so i had to restore it so i restore it and i try connecting my ipod it works but when i try to sync the music it says syncing but when i check my ipod the dont dissconect thing doesnt come out and when its done my old songs are still thier and this thing comes out that says i need to sync my ipod to my new itunes so i press it and nothing happens then when i try restoring my ipod it says error 1418 and im really mad can somebody please help me!!!!!

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer          
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    heii every1 my ipod wont turn on heres wat happend,
    I got the ipod on christmas and transfed over 500 songs and photos. (by the way its the new 30GBvideo) and it was working fine, then my uncle got me the iBlast and it worked good, then i went 2 my friends house and i was raining, it gota lil wet but it was fine. i got 2 my friends house and it froze then i reset it and now it wont turn on, i left it on overnight and it been like a day and i wont turn on its so kool and i want it 2 work somebody please help me

  • IPod wont turn on or update after iTunes 7, please help

    It's a 2004, 20gb iPod with click-wheel. A friend gave it to me, if I can try to repair it. Apparently it died after installing iTunes 7. The iPod wont turn on or respond to anything. The only time it does is when its connected to a computer. At first iTunes reported that the iPod is corrupted and needs to be restarted. And when it turns on, theres an icon with an exclamation mark and an URL pointing me to Apple's support. At first i tried with various older firmware files and I got the messega that there was an error formatting the ipod. iTunes 7 gave a 1418 or 1429 error at the end of the updating process.
    I tried with resetting it, putting it in the disk mode and then erasing and/or partitioning it with Disk utility and it was always the same. I tried unplugging all the other devices when updating, just like recommended. Again nothing worked.
    Here comes the peculiar part:
    Then I did a complete erase, writting zeros over the whole disk in Disk utility. It took ages and then finally stopped with an error just before finishing. After that I can update my iPod just fine with iTunes 7, I can even name it again and start adding songs(it takes forever for just one song). Even older updaters say its fine. But after unplugging it from the computer its still dead and it still displays the error icon. All that got me so confused.
    I find it hard to believe that a hardware error suddenly appeared just after installing iTunes 7 and I am really hoping for any help I could get because I dont want to give up on it just yet. Thanks.

    Have you checked your Control Panel to make sure you don't have the flashlight turned on?
    Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the flashlight icon (bottom left-hand corner) is not white. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.

    i droppped it at the gym and now the only time it works is when it is on charge. i can't even connect it to iturns on my PC:(
    when its connected to the charger i can play a song but as soon as i unplug it it goes off again

    my ipod wont turn on even if i leave it plugged in all day and night on my computer i tried toggleing the hold button and pressing the menu and middle button at the same time and nothing happens its black still. my ipod isnt being recognized in the itunes either. i deleted the itunes from my computer and downloaded it again a few times but still nothing happens. i even tried on a friends laptop and my ipod still wont turn on even if i leave it plugged in all day and night on my friends laptop and it wont show up in the itunes on their laptop either. can someone give me some helpful advice or will i have to go to a apple store or send it in for repairs? also i have almost had it for ayear at the end of this month does anyone know how much it will cost if i have to send it in for repairs? please help.

    Error 1604
    This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
    If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
    Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
    Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
    Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
    The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
    If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

    Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
