Ipod wont turn on or charge tried everything

My ipod isn't turning on it was working fine then it just randomly turned off. It wasn't dead i just left it charging over night and when i woke up it wass a black screen and itunes wont regonize it either. Its a 3rd gen its the newest white one with a camera and its 8 GB.I have tried to reset it and press the home and power button and also tried to plug it in and wait but nothing as worked.I havent went to an apple store yet but i really need help. I just got it around the end of january.

See if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so that you can restore the iPod.
otherwise, time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Please HELP! My iPod wont turn on! Ive tried everything...

    Hi!
im from argentina, so.. sry for my english =)
Last weekend I wanted to upgrade my ipods (ipod g5) firmware to the new one.. After the firmware was loaded to the ipod, an apple appeared on my ipod screen. Ok.. but it usually appears a loading bar below the apple. After waiting a long time for the loading bar to appear, I thought it was frozen, so I pressed the reset buttons (menu+center).
Since then I wasnt able to turn on my ipod!!!
I have searched the internet and I found this terrible sentence:
"Do not reboot your iPod while it's booting for the first time after a firmware update (using the Apple updater). This will abort the ROM flashing, and will render your iPod dead."
Is this true? It must be another way to wake my ipod up, plz!!! I have paid a lot of money for it, and I really didnt know that! There was NO WARNING about that! How could I know?!
Anyone with some cool ideas to help me?
    Thx a lot!
    Alan

ipod wont turn on nor charge how do i fix this?

    - First try resetting the iPOd.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect to your computer. If it shows in iTunes restore the iPOd
    - Next see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow you to restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

  • My iphone 4 just shut down and wont turn on and i tried everything..

hi my iphone 4 was working properly last night abd out of no where it kept freezing and turning off and the apple came on and later on it completly turned off and i tried everything to turned it on and nothing, today in the morning i plugged it in to the charger and pressed home plus lock together abd the apple came on!! i was so happy andit turned on back to normal, i was getting ready for school and i was playing music and 20 minutes later it shuts off and now it wont turn on! my iphone is not jail broken or has been dropped in water.

Any other suggestions?  I have the same problem.  I tried holding the home and power buttons with no response, and I also plugged in my phone to the charger for over an hour and still nothing.  That has been the extent of my troubleshooting
    Thanks

  • Ipod wont turn on nor charge

So it was just another normal day and my ipod was working just fine. I left it alone for about an hour and when I went to go look at it all it did was give me  black screen and it wont do anything. I've tried leaving it on the charger for a couple hours and it still wont turn on. my home button is stuck so I can hold that and the lock button together like many people have told me to do. I don't know how to fix it and I've only had it for a few months now. Any suggestions?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod wont turn on or charge?

I got my Ipod Touch 5th Generation a little over a year ago. Recently I have been having problems charging the ipod. I would plug in the cord to a power adapter but get no response. I would have to wiggle the charger while it is in the ipod or wait for a while before it would start charging. After it would start charging, I wouldn't touch it because it would stop charging if it was moved. However, a few days ago I could not charge my ipod at all, no matter what I tried. I removed some lint from the inside of the ipod's charger port and tried charging it but it would not charge. I plugged it into my computer to see if itunes would recognize it, but it wouldn't. I tried using different charger cables, but it didn't work. The battery died soon after, and I have been trying to get the ipod working again. I cant tell whether the cable or the port is the main problem, or if it is something else. When I plug in the ipod to any charger the screen wont turn on, but I can hear a very faint clicking sound coming from the ipod if I hold it up to my ear. I did notice that there was some build-up on the original charger's fourth pin from the left, and that there were light blue pieces inside the lint which looked like oxidized copper. I checked for any damage in the ipod's charger port and on the charger, but I found none. Is this something that can be fixed by replacing a part? Or is my Ipod gone for good?

Have you tried to clean the port? Trim a few cotton swabs to fit the port place one drop of rubbing alcohol on each and blot almost dry as you use them. Then run the swab straight in and out of the port a few times until it comes out clean. Allow the port to dry and then attempt to charge. If still not charging contact Apple. Good luck.

    HELP
    why wont it turn on?

    Hi juliekay4!
I have some troubleshooting steps for you to try regarding this issue:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
These steps come from this article:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
As it states in the last step of the troubleshooting, if your issue is still not resolved, you will want to follow these instructions at the end of that article:

my ipod wont switch on anymore! what can i do??

Get it serviced either by Apple or a third party repair company. The choice is yours.  There is no telling what the exact cause of the issue is whether it be a dead battery or another damaged internal component.

  • My ipod wont turn on or charge a day after using after charging in the car

please help me anyone, I was charging my ipod nano on a gecko car charger for ipod nano, it got hot and made a burning smell so i unplugged it and used it til that night it was flat the next day i plugged it in the computer and it will not turn on at all or charge! It wont do anything, ive tried resetting it heaps...this is the 2nd nano i have had to trade in on warranty...please help, will i be able to trade it in again, the 1st nano was purchased in Apple Centre Ivanhoe, Melbourne australia on saturday 2nd september 2006 and traded because faulty on 14 september 2006, i have both receipts HELP ME IM SAD IM ONLY 14!
Compaq Evo   Windows XP   NEED HELP PLEASE!

I can almost guarantee that the guys at an Apple Store will replace your iPod for you... still, watch out for that car charger. I would bring both the warranty for your Nano & Car Charger to the store
And if you do get a new Nano, make sure you plug it into your computer for 3 hours, to let it completely charge, then use it until the battery fully dies; after that, you can charge and use as you please.

  • Iphone 4 wont turn on and ive tried everything

So for about two days my phone kept bugging out(apps randoly crashing and then the volume kept going up to max no matter how many times i turned it down) so I tried turning it off and on but it wouldn't turn on. I looked online for help and i have done everything it suggested; charging it, holing the power and home button down to reset it, plugging it into my computer to manually reset it(my computer wouldnt even recognize it), I even called apple support! i just told them that it wouldnt turn on and instead of further questions or tips they said theyd fix it for $130 dollars. but for that price id rather buy a brand new phone (thats not an iphone!) any other things i could try before I buy a new phone?

  • HT1459 my ipod isnt turning on i have tried everything my ipod touch is 3rd gen and the serial number on the back isnt working

qmy ipod is not turning on, it hasnt turned on for over a year. it is a 3rd gen ipod touch the account that im useing isnt my original one but i really hope i can get a few tips

You almost certainly need to get the battery replaced. It's not something you can do yourself - you will have to take it to an Apple Store or send it by post to Apple: they will replace it with an equivalent model with a new battery.

  • My ipod wont turn on and the comp. is no recognizeing it!

ok my ipod wont turn on and i tried resetting it but it wont work and the computer is no recognizeing it the little window that pops up says that the thing in the usb has a malfunction!!

You have a hardware problem and you should take it into a apple store to be looked at and fixed.

  • My ipod wont turn on and ive alredy tried everthing

my ipod 5 wont turn on and ive tried doing everything

If you're really tried "everything," then throw it away!  Otherwise...
Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.
