Ipod wont work with vista?

when i first got my ipod nano i had windows xp then i got a new computer with vista now every time i plug it in it says usb device not recognized so i click on the bubble and it says No drivers are installed for this device. so i go to change settings then i hit up date driver then i click search automatically for updated driver software then it says windows have determinded the dirver software for your device is up to date so i go and plug my ipod in again and is says the same thing!!!!!! my ipod will not show up in itunes or my windows can anyone help me out here this has been going on since march and my ipod hasn't had any new music on it since i got vista!
p.s i have restarted the pc and tried to plug my ipod back in
i have download the latest itunes
i have tried everything nothing will work!!

I figured out the Vista problem I believe that most people are having and believe me I was getting crazy over this until I figured out that Itunes 7.6 only works with the Ipod touch in Vista 64 Bit versions. Sooooo I downloaded version 7.4 and it came up with an error that the itl file was created by a newer version of itunes...so i did a search under dos because i hate vista's file search program..but i wont go into that...for those not familiar with command prompt ...select command prompt ... type cd.. until you get to the c:\ directory then type dir *.itl /a/s/p it will show you where the itl file is located and you can delete it... then install itunes version 7.4 from one of the various sites offering older versions of itunes.. and voila ipod magic... stupid isnt it...kinda crazy i can get my ipod touch to work in Linux and not in Microsoft Vista...

  • IPod wont work with iMac but works in Vista

I have an 80GB iPod Classic that works perfect on my computer running Windows Vista and iTunes 7. I have only ever used it with iTunes.
My iPod's format is FAT32 (Windows). And it's running software Version 1.1.2 and disk use is enabled.
When i try and plug it into an iMac (iMac G5) running OS X 10.3.9 it doesn't work. It doesn't come up as an external drive so I can't access it as an external disk and it fails to work in iTunes.
I have upgraded the Mac to the latest version of iTunes but this still doesn't solve the problem. I tunes gives me the following error "iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted...". This is not the case, my iPod is not corrupted.
How can i get my iPod to work on the Mac?

If you buy an iPod, you are Apple's customer whether you use Windows or Mac OS X. Therefore, your statement
nice how they screw their own customers.
    makes zero sense.
If Apple products work in Windows for an extended period of time, this is because the most common and popular (by far) version of Windows is getting on 8 years old. And since XP is so prevalent, Apple has to support it, just like any other company that makes products that work with Windows. It is highly unlikely that Windows Vista will ever surpass XP in usage; Apple will no doubt continue to support XP with iTunes and iPods when XP is TEN years old.
For Mac OS X, Apple has been pushing the rate of development much faster. Therefore, Panther is already "old" technology, even if it was released after Windows XP. Panther is PowerPC-only and most active Macs (in the installed base) are now Intel-based, with 3 million new Intel Macs being added to the installed base every quarter. ALL Intel Macs use Tiger or Leopard. Most Power PC Mac users with supported hardware have at least upgraded to Tiger, if not Leopard. Therefore, only a small fraction of Mac users still use Panther day to day. SO... Tiger is obviously a good cutoff point for backward support, just as Windows XP is a good cutoff point on the Windows side. It's just common sense, not Apple trying to "screw customers."
It's not just Apple using this common sense. Many, if not most, third party software and hardware Mac products being released right now require Tiger or Leopard, just like with Apple.
As for your actual problem, I would try Restoring the iPod on the Windows side (assuming you have a copy of all the files on the PC). A Mac should be able to read FAT32 format, both in iTunes (using manual management) and as a hard drive using Finder. If you can get this to work, you can copy the iTunes media files onto the iPod as files (not through iTunes) and then transfer them to the Mac as files. Then load them into the Mac's iTunes library.
Continue using your Windows PC to sync the iPod. On the Mac side, use +manual management+ (do not sync).

  • Ipod wont work with my usb ready cd player

I just bought an insignia cd player that has a USB port for MP3 players and flash drives - they told me at best buy that it would work - they know for sure from trying that the shuffle and video ipod works but it doesn't seem to work with my nano. I am trying to find out if I am doing something wrong (when I plug it in it recognizes that I have plugged it in and the ipod begins charging and then says do not disconnect like it is updating only it doens't stop saying it and wont let me access anything on it) and I also want to know if maybe there is any kind of adapter that will let me use the nano - best buy said it might be to new since the other kinds work. Does anyobe have any suggestions!?!

In your iPod options there is a check box to "enable disk use". You have to turn that one and then it will appear as a drive on your computer. You have to drag songs to it just like you drag any other type of file to copy them. The problem with this method is that you can't control the playback from the iPod, and it will take double the amountof space because the iPod won't play the songs if they are stored in the disk portion. So you would have to have one copy for iPod and one copy for CD player. But why do you want to do that in the first place? The iPod will already play back all the songs, and with a lot more control than the CD player has.

  • My ipod wont work with usb cord

i dont know what is wrong, do i have to replace it? i have another ipod video 60gb ,both the usb cable cords work for it but they dont work with my black 30gb one. i tried restarting it so many different times and it did not help. can anyone help me with this... thanks...

Is your iPod not being recognized by iTunes or your computer, or something? (information like that might help)
It doesn't sound like a problem with your USB cord, but probably a problem with your iPod (since the two cords works with your other iPod).
If your iPod is having troubles with iTunes recognizing it, have you tried these five steps?:

  • My ipod wont work with this other computer

my computer that had my ipod music and information on it crshed so i went to go use my ipod on my moms computer. she also has an ipod but doesnt use it much so i uninstalled itunes the re-insatlled it under my information. but every time i plug it in i cant do anything with it but charge it.
??how do i update music onto my ipod through this computer??

You really didn't need to uninstall then reinstall iTunes to get your iPod to work, nor do you need to install the ipod software again.
What happens when you connect the iPod to iTunes? Is it recognized in the source list? Do you see any messages? Do you have your iPod set to transfer songs manually?

  • IPod iTouch working with Vista

I purchased a 16g iTouch, because my 1st generation iPod finally died (actually i dropped it).
I installed and it worked great. Syncd up perfectly. The next day, it would not recognize my iPod. Calling Apple support, they had me restore - and it worked perfect. Next day, same thing would not recognize my iPod. This time Apple support had me uninstall anything apple on my pc and then restore. It worked, but they had me reboot my pc. Guess what. It would not recognize my iPod.
I took it back to the store and actually upgraded to a 32g iTouch. Came home, followed steps, syncd up first time then it wouldn't recognize my iPod again.
Yesterday, following instructions from the Apple Genius, all my music was wiped off of my pc. I started all over, uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. It worked great.
Today, I come home from work to resync and to finish loading all my cd's - guess what, it didn't recognize pc.
I'm at wits end. Anyone having issues with running Vista and recognizing your iPod?

I have posted this before. I'm running Visat SP1 and the only was iTunes will find the iTouch is if I switch off the Wi-Fi on the Settings page of the iTouch!
    Best Regards
    Steven

  • Anyway to get an Ipod to work with Vista X64?

I recently built a computer under Vista X64 and remarkably enough, the most manufactured piece of hardware I hook up to it is the only one that isn't supported by its manufacture. Whether or not this is extreme incompetence or complications, I will never truly know but anyways....
Is there anyway to sync an Ipod with a 64bit version of Windows Vista. I don't care whether it is through Itunes or not, I just need to be able to add and remove video and music from my Ipod.

You can try Winamp or Xplay.

  • Ipod wont work with app store

My ipod touch 4th gen was just uploaded wiht IOS6.  It will not allow me to download apps from the App Store.

    Try resetting the iPod...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Restart your iPod. Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Now try the App or iTunes Store.
If you still need help try here >  Can't connect to the iTunes Store

  • Ipod not compatible with Vista??

    Hi:
I bought a new Dell computer that came with Vista. I have an ipod Video with iTunes songs and other recorded CD tunes I've put on the system. I can't get the Windows Media Ctr. to find my iTunes [are they not compatible]? Has Apple got a lock in on this music? Now I can't synch with my ipod for new music or synch in general. What's the story?

According to Kim Komando's newsletter today (what a name - and she claims it's not made up!), Microsoft has just released a patch that will allow iPods to work with Vista. Sorry I don't have more info - I know I won't be getting Vista for a while, so I didn't pay any more attention to how to get it or where.

  • Why apple charger wont work with some ipods?

why apple charger wont work with some ipods?

I can charge my 5th generation Nano either with the Apple USB cable connected to my Mac or when it is plugged to the wall outlet.  Not suprisingly, it recahrges much faster when plugged into the electric outlet.
    Which Nano do you have?

  • HT1386 I just reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8.  After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes.  My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem.  Help!

reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8.  After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes.  My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem.  I can eliminate any problems with the cable and connection.
I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
Nothing seems to have helped the situation.
    Help!

Have you tried on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem?
The iPod Classic uses different drivers than the Nano

  • Does iPod Nano work with Camera Connector?

Is the iPod Nano able to work with the Camera Connector? How about the Belkin Camera Connector or Belkin Media Reader?

6GB nano we might see in a year, a 20 GB nano is presently only a fantasy and while eventually possible, we won't be seeing it anytime soon. To my understanding the belkin media reader uses firewire to communicate among other things so no it wont work with the Nano. And of course the Nano is windows preformatted windows compatible.

  • Ipod stopped working with iTrip

My iPod stopped working with my iTrip very mysteriously. I left it in the car for 2 hours (as I always do at work) and it worked when I left and wouldn't work when I went to drive home. I've replaced the iTrip and know that it works with another iPod (identical to mine and bought at the exact same time).
Does anyone know if there's way to fix this?

I just started having issues with my iPod as well. It is paired with my JVC receiver through an iPod adapter. I can normally control my iPod through the JVC once it is connected, but the last few days I have had to control it through the iPod itself. The screen on the receiver says connecting, but never does unless I do manually.( pressing play on the iPod). I can still see song titles, but no control. IE pause, next or previous songs. Nothing seems to work, and have treid powering both off then back on. Is this an update issue that wont let them pair anymore? I also tried a friends iphone and seemed to work fine with the JVC, so the receiver is not the issue.
