Ipods and exturnal HDs ot showing up..

The iPod does not show up in itunes but it does on my desktop and my exturnal HD doesn't show up at all but it use too

How is the hard drive connected? Does the hard drive have an external power supply or is it bus-powered? Are you using a hub or are the devices plugged directly into the Mac?

Try resetting.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Iphone ipod and iPad no longer show up in itunes

None of my devices show up in the iTunes "devices" list anymore since I updated to OS X 10.7.4 recently whether plugged in via USB or wireless. Using iTunes 10.6.1. I have never had any issue like this before. I have iPods, and iPhone4, iPad, and Apple TV 1st gen and none of them appear.

Reset the iPod and music doesn't show up... but the files are still there..

I had to reset my nano (just a soft reboot). Supposedly when you do this, you do not lose your files. Wrong! Well... not completely. The files are still there if I look under the iPod in "My Computer" but, tho iTunes recognizes the iPod, there is no music contained in it through iTunes or just using the iPod itself.
Please help!! I don't know if I changed some sort of setting or if I'm screwed here. I still have the files but I was kinda hoping not to lose my playcounts/ratings/etc.

If so, you should not have lost music. Also, why did you reset the iPod?
Anyhow, is there still music on your computer in iTunes?
If the music is in your iTunes library, restore your iPod...
Restore the iPod
Then reload everything.
If the music is not on your computer, use this to get the music off of the iPod and back onto the computer. Then restore the iPod and reload everything (once you are sure that your music is on your computer)...

I can't sync my ipod and it's not showing up in devices in itunes

I bought my son an iPod touch and we are not able to sync it to get our music off the computer. The iPod isn't showing up in devices in iTunes and there are no devices showing up or even the word devices. Please help so we can get our music onto his new iPod. Thank you very much!!

Alot of us are having the same problem witht he new version of Itunes... Apple needs to fix their own side of the problem cause no support they are giving us is working! Also half of the answers from the community are risky/ waste of time answers that are unsure if they will even work, and to many that try -Don't work!
Ive been trying since yesterday to get an answer, no one is helping :/

Can't Delete a song off my iPod and it doesn't show in iTunes

I have an iPod Touch 5th Gen and there are 3 songs in my Music that I can not delete. When I go to iTunes on my computer the three songs do not show up! WHY?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

I am having the same problem. Ever since I updated to iOS 5 my iPod doesn't appear under iTunes it doesn't even pop up anymore. When I connect it to my PC all it does is charge! I was updating my iPod touch to 4.2.5 when an error occurred and now my iPod is not recognized by my computer or under devices in iTunes. My iPod is also stuck on a screen saying to connect to iTunes. I tried resetting my iPod and it did not work.

Please help! I was updating my iPod to 4.2.5 and iTunes said that it was preparing my iPod for update. Then an error popped up and now my computer won't recognize my iPod and it doesn't show up under devices in iTunes. All it has on my iPod is a picture of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo. I tried resetting my iPod and it just restarts to the same picture. I tried restarting my computer as well.

What was the error number? That would be very useful since the following gives actions for various errors.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

The iPod Shuffle has never had a 'display' on which track names can be shown. New iPod + account not showing up on a computer that was previously used with a DIFFERENT iPod and account

I'm very new to all things Apple, but not a computer/tech newbie...it's just that all my experience and knowledge has been aquired with Windows and Android. I received an iPod Touch 5th gen as a Xmas gift, and I'm (mostly) enjoying it...but I've hit the following problem:
About a year ago, a friend used iTunes on my computer (WinXP Pro) using HIS account/Apple ID, and connected HIS iPod to my PC to "sync" (I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish, but my computer and his iPod were definitely conected via cable). He no longer needs to use my computer to access iTunes.
So, now I want to use MY iPod and iTunes account with the same computer that he used. My friend and I "authorized" my computer using my Apple ID, DE-authorized it using his, we signed him out, signed me in, (not necessarily n that order, heheh). BUT... in my iTunes library still show HIS apps, HIS books, and his iTunes-U courses. None of my apps/books/courses etc. appear in iTunes on my computer. (They ARE all on my iPod). I tried un-installing iTunes and re-installing the latest version, and that did not solve the problem.
I have heard or read, somewhere, that if I connect my iPod to a compter that has someone else's iTunes account on it, my iPod could be un-intentionally "sync'd" to that persons account, and I would lose my apps/music/etc and wind up with the other persons "stuff" on my device (I'm sure there are some subtleties to that that I'm clueless about). My hunch is that the solution lies somewhere in connecting MY new iPod to my computer, but I'm afraid of losing what I've already put on my iPod and/or messing up my friend's devices.

When I highlight one of his apps (for example) and select DELETE, a pop-up window opens, warning me that the app will ALSO be deleted from any device "which syncronizes with your iTunes library". I followed the instructions in the link above (computer authorized, signed in under my account, & "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" enabled in iTunes preferences by going to iTunes > Preferences under the Store tab). With iTunes 11 you may have to do a Control+B to show the Menu bar and a Control+S to show the Sidebar.
I have not tried these steps, given the status of the situation being unchanged so far.

Video and audio not sync when i play all forms of video. from music videos, to tv shows. but they play perfect on my iPod. and tv shows display out of order on iPod, but in correct order on iTunes/computer. I even ran a virus check just to make sure.

audio and video do not syncronize. all forms of videos. music videos to tv shows. what do i need to do the syncronize them again
they are in sync on iPod, but not on computer.
another issue that might be from the same cause is, the order of episodes of the tv shows i have downloaded, they appear in order on computer, but on iPod they show out of order.
any tips on how to fix this would very much help.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
An old version of iTunes will cause this and mess up the videos on your iPod. Always make sure you always use an up-to-date version of iTunes.
Make sure all the software on your computer is up to date...

You will then need to restore the iPod and then let iTunes update your iPod and put your music, videos, etc. back onto your iPod...
