IPods don't launch iTunes
Since I've upgraded to iTunes 8 neither my new iPod Classic nor my nano launch iTunes.
Can anyone help? Thanks.
Further observation: after pressing ctrl+s (to expose the sidebar) and manually dragging (in my case) the playlist onto the iPod apparently works.
Depending on the number of tracks in your playlist (mine is >19K, everything I want on the iPod) it may take a while for iTunes to acknowledge the drag-and-drop (like many minutes), but be patient. So far it seems to be working.
But I'd rather that iTunes handle my music syncing automatically, and it definitely does not do that right now.

The answer to this is simple,
If you have iTunes 7, plug in your ipod and let itunes open up, click on the ipod in the source list (on the right of the window) and uncheck "Open itunes when this ipod is connected, click apply in the bottom right corner and itunes shouldnt open when you connect your ipod. -
I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes" This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. I have not installed any new burning softeware. I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

I have transferred purchases before and have had no problems but this time when i tranfsferred to another computer the most recent albums didi not transfer. I only realised this once I had gone through the erase and sync. I did not have a backup for these three albums yet. My purchases clearly state that I have bought all those albums. I don't even understand why this happened!
On the newer computer launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.

My ipod 32gb 1st generation battery went totally dead because the usb cable was defective. I have since replaced the cable but now itune will not launch automatically as it did before and windows xp does not recognize it. Nonetheless it is charging. Try disabling a/v software and turn off the Firewall on your PC.
Disable antivirus software
Turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
Then connect the iPod to your computer. Launch iTunes. If your computer still won't recognize the iPod check out this article.

Once your iPod is functioning again, with it connected to your computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPod under Devices in the source list on the left.
Select the box next to: Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected
That way iTunes should open automatically when you connect your iPod to your computer.
And iTunes / Preferences - Devices. You can have your iPod sync automatically whenever it's connected from the Devices pane. -

I want to import songs frm my Ipod to my itunes library. Songs were ripped from CDs to the ipod not purchased from itunes store...how can this be done?
You would have to let itunes rip the songs from the cd's, or you would have to copy the music from the computer which ripped cd's.
iTunes does not support transferring music from the ipod unless it was purchased from the store. -
Changes made on iPod don't appear when connected to iTunes
Long story short, iTunes doesn't like it when I make changes through my iPod, and tries to "fix" them.
If I delete a song or make changes to a playlist through the iPod itself, that change doesn't show up in iTunes. Deleted songs will be unplayable, but still appear. Newly created playlists may or may not appear. Deleted playlists are still there. Songs added to a playlist don't appear in the playlist, songs deleted from a playlist still appear in the playlist.
If I make a change to my iPod through iTunes itself, it reflects that change on my iPod, but also reverts any changes I've made through the iPod (so, if I remove a song from a playlist through my iPod, then connect to iTunes and remove a song from a playlist through iTunes, the song I removed through iTunes will be removed from my iPod, but the song I removed through my iPod will reappear). It will also occasionally re-load songs I've deleted entirely, though they'll be greyed out and unplayable.
As you may imagine, this is really annoying.
I have all types of automatic syncing turned off, and I don't store any music in iTunes itself once it's been put on my iPod.
I just want iTunes to show me what is on my iPod right now, and not revert back to whatever image it seems to have stored of my iPod when I try to make changes through iTunes. Does anyone have a fix for this?

The path C:/documents and setting/...iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You need the iPod and iPad conencted to the interned and FindMyiPod turned on on the iPod an the iPad need to have the FindMyiPhone app installed. That now requires iOS 7 on the device.

When I try to sync music into my iPod Touch 5 the iTunes responds saying that I have don't have enough free space to sync the music however there is enough space. Even when I try to unsync the songs from the iPod it won't get deleted the songs will stay in the iPod.

Arrgh!! Ipod Mini launches ITunes but isn't recognized
Just about at my wit's end. After struggling for 10+ hours with first mini and finally finding it was defective, got replacement from store. After inital installation, computer would recognize IPod but ITunes didn't and screen stuck on do not disconnect. After resetting, reinstalling IPod and ITunes, updating to 9-23-05 versions, restoring IPod, etc. etc., it is finally at a point where when I plug it in it does launch Itunes, but is not recognized. Any thoughts about what to do next?
This is all on my laptop (Dell 600M with XP Pro SP2, fully updated). on my desktop, windows recognizes the IPod but neither Itunes or the IPod updater recognize it.
All suggestions appreciated.
BobNThis is a very common problem that people are having with minis/iTunes 5.X and indeed that i myself have. The only solution atm is to go to http://filehippo.com/download_itunes.html?184 and dll itunes 4.9, then uninstalling iTunes from the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and then obv installing 4.9... I'm going to keep looking out for future updates of iTunes where this prob is resolved but atm the only solution is to regress =(....iTunes 4.9 and iTunes 5.0 are not extremely differenty anyway, honest.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

I am a new iTunes user. I have synced my iphone 4s to macbook using iTunes, but I cannot access music in iPhone. I cannot access library when I launch iTunes on my iPhone. When I go to settings->usage->music, I see that there is enough music in the phone to suggest that music has been synced with iTunes. I just don't know how to access it. Could someone pleas help?
If you want to drag and drop then you would have to select Manually Manage Music.
Otherwise, just sync your music.
