I am really confuse about some ipods from apple + hp? are they authentic? wht's with the ipod that has the hp logo? So what's the differnce between the functions of them all?

The functions and specifications are all the same.
Apple licensed hp to manufacture the iPods for a while. That's all.

No, there's no difference in functionality, other than the Windows-exclusive support on the HP iPod.
Though if you want one, you'd better hurry. As of September, HP stopped production on them so they've been going for slightly reduced prices around me at least. The 30GB HP+iPod was going for about $20 less than the 20GB iPod photo last month at a Staples near me.

  • Has anyone received a good iPod from Apple online store?

Has anyone received a good iPod from Apple online store yet? (38th week batch without screen issue)

Also got a week 38, came two days ago. Everything, including the LCD displaying black, seems perfect.
I had been holding my breath for the past week. The LCD problem worried me so much that I tried to cancel my preorder to the Apple store. Becuase I had it engraved, I couldn't cancel.
For me, it all seemed to work out.

  • Whats the difference in buying an ipod from apple retail store rather than buying it from Walmart?

Whats the difference in buying an iPod touch from apple retail store rather than from walmart

Some retailers, such as Best Buy, offer a much more robust warranty - even covering accidental damage. Or other retailers may offer bonuses - such as free case or store gift card as an incentive. The orginal Apple 1 year warranty against manufacturer's defects applies no matter where it's sold.
I bought both my touch and my iPad from Best Buy and have no issues with it. (the closest apple store was over an hour away)
I think the only warning I'd offer is for a person buying a used device second hand is to make sure it's from a reputable retailer and that hte device is unlocked and ready to use.

  • HT201441 Unlink Ipod from Apple ID

I have bought a used iPod touch (5th gen) from local market (local buy/sell forum).
Apparently the ipod is linked to an apple id & I can't trace the person to un-link the id.  It's been a week and i had no luck tracing the guy.
Is there any way apple can help me un-link it from the registered ID, so i can use the device?
    Thanks

You cannot make your @icloud.com or @me.com the login address to replace a non-Apple address. You can change the GMail address to something else as long as it's not an Apple address. If you are going to do this you need to follow the procedure here:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example  at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.

  • What do i do if i can no longer contact the person that i got my ipod from to get there apple id

What am I supposed to do if I can not contact the person that i got my ipod touch 5 gen from, to get there apple id and activate the ipod

Apple will not help unless possibly if you initally purchased the iPod from Apple. Since that is not the case, Apple will not help.

  • New iPod Touch arrived from Apple today - Wifi inoperable

Brand New iPod Touch 32G just showed up from Apple via Fed-Ex today. First thing I tried was to join my Home Wifi. Same result as everyone else. DHCP is failing and the device gets a self-assigned IP address 169.254.X.X.
Before you start asking me about my router et. al., know that I have been working on this issue for 5 hours now. Had Apple on the phone for over an hour. They had me completely strip out iTunes on my Mac, and re-download and install it. I've upgraded to iOS 4.3.3, did a complete Restore of my BRAND NEW iPod, Reset Network Settings, h*ll I reset the entire device even after a FULL RESTORE. Tried Airplane mode On/Off. WiFi On/Off. Etc.
The clincher was taking this FULLY RESTORED iPod Touch to the Starbuck's across the street, next to a Verizon store. This device cannot even get on Starbuck's WiFi nor Verizon's WiFi - BOTH Public and Open.
I have a Verizon MiFi Mobile Hotspot as well - Same symptoms - No assigned IP.
I was able to get networking to my home Wifi to work, BUT ONLY IF I SET A STATIC IP PARAMETRICS. This is a solution to my Home Network, but not for ALL the OTHER Public WiFi networks out there.
Multiple Networks - Apple has a REAL problem here!!!
Please! Suggestions are welcome, but please don't ask me to repeat all the diagnostics I've already done.
(I wish these things were as easy to diagnose as my Android devices! At least I can shell in and see what's going on in those!)

4.3.3 does this on one of my four devices...with just one source.
Work with static router I.P. as best you can and wait for an iOS update.

" How can I figure out who's ipod it was from the internet? "
You cannot.  You can look at your purchase history and see more details.
"What is an email or phone number to contact a REAL person from Apple?"
There is no phone number and they cannot tell you either.  You can contact them if you like:

    Hi
Can anyone help? I am trying to connect my sons iPod to burn some music to it but I keep getting a message pop up stating that this version of iTunes is not compatible with this iPod and I need to remove my version of iTunes and install the 64-bit version. I have done this twice now, both times using the 64-bit download from Apple's download page, but the same message appears and the iPod is not recognized.
If anyone knows where I am going wrong I would be grateful for your advice.
    Ta.

    Hi Tintin01,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're being repeatedly prompted to install the 64-bit version of iTunes, I'd suggest first completely uninstalling iTunes and all its related components using the steps found here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Once you've uninstalled iTunes and its components, install the latest version of iTunes found here:
    iTunes 11.0.4 for Windows 64

  • I updated an iPod touch, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and all of them now will not connect to WiFi. They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. Bad job testing the software Apple.

I updated an iPod touch, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and all of them now will not connect to WiFi. They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. What's the fix? None of the recommended fixes work in any of these devices. Reset device, reset network, renew lease, etc. None of them work.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Bought my ipod touch 4g from apple's official reseller on 21st November 2012. Purchase slip says warranty ends on 20th November 2013. But apple website says its 19th November 2013. Why? I went out of the store once while buying, was the ipod exchanged?

Bought my ipod touch 4g from apple's official reseller on 21st November 2012. Purchase slip says warranty ends on 20th November 2013. But apple website says its 19th November 2013 when I put in my ipod's serial number. Why is that? When I bought the ipod, the salesman told me that the latest ios is not installed, so I typed in my apple id and passowrd  and opened the ipod, then they started donwloading the latest ios. During the download, I went out of the store for sometime, then i got back after 10 minutes and had to put my id/password again to begin with the new ios. Was my ipod exchange within this time? Why in a computerized system, If  I have bought an ipod on 21st November 2012, it says the warranty expires on 19th Novembner 2013? Pleasse help, my ipoid even had some scratch on the backside when I first  checked the back side after bringing it home from the store.

Was my ipod exchange within this time?
Not unless it was found to be defective, and that would not reset the warranty on the original serial number.
Why in a computerized system, If  I have bought an ipod on 21st November 2012, it says the warranty expires on 19th Novembner 2013?
Sometimes it's just wrong. Perhaps the reseller entered in the sales date incorrectly. Call Apple support and discuss the problem with them. They may ask you to fax them a copy of your receipt.
my ipoid even had some scratch on the backside when I first  checked the back side after bringing it home from the store.
You'll probably have difficulty convincing them that the scratch wasn't there when you brought it in, but you can go back to the store and talk to them about it.

  • New iPod touch received today from Apple Store still running 2.2.1

I received my 8GB iPod Touch 2G from Apple Store (Hong Kong) this morning (August 28, 2009). I order it earlier this week.
After checking, it runs 2.2.1, not 3.0.x. Plugged in iTunes, it told me I need to pay USD9.95 to upgrade it to version 3.
Called Apple rep and the guy said this is expected.
I supposed all the new iPod ordered from the Apple online store should come with the latest s/w installed, or at least a promo voucher to claim the upgrade if it is not practical to upgrade all the inventory.
Is this the case in other countries?

OS 3.0 is sold separately as noted at the bottom of the iPod touch Software Update page:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/softwareupdate.html
Apple have not yet announced any iPod touches that ship with v3.0 pre-installed, which is why all the product pages for the iPod touch on the Apple web-site, only list features in v2.0
    http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/
For the last 5 years or so, new iPod models have been released in September each year.
1st generation iPod touches were shipped with OS v1.0 in September 2007
2nd generation iPod touches are shipped with OS v2.0 in September 2008
3rd generation iPod touches and ones that ship with OS v3.0 have not yet been announced.
