IPods Resolution Changed??

Has apple changed the resolution on the new 80GB
iPods. My video's definitely appear smaller and
definitely take up less room on the screen.
It has nothing to do with the widescreen setting
because I had my last on set to widescreen too.
Is there some sort of setting I am overlooking because
the video's are awfully small. Especailly the widescreen
versions. Thanks in advance.....Eric

  • When I open Firefox my screen resolution changes and when I fix it on the computer it auto changes back in 10 seconds. I looked at the compatibility and nothing is checked. This started out of nowhere.

I have used FF for about a year on my Dell Inspiron 15 and now every time I open it the resolution changes on me. If I close FF everything goes back to normal resolution. No problems with other browsers just FF. I went into the properties and tried to fix the compatibility but nothing was checked. I checked for any new updates that happened automatically but there haven't been any for days before this started. I have all my Grad school bookmarks on FF and I don't want to uninstall.

This can be a problem with the localstore.rdf file.
Use Restore or Maximize in the right-click context menu of the Taskbar icon to set focus to the Firefox application if you do not see the Firefox window.<br />
Open the system menu of that Firefox window via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

  • External display resolution changes after returning from display sleep

I often use an external display as a second screen with my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.8.2)  However, when I return to the computer after the display has gone to sleep, the external display resolution changes when the display reappears.  Then I have to go into System Preferences > Display and "Detect Displays" in order to return the external display to the proper resolution.
Does anybody know of a way for me to avoid having to do this every time my display sleeps?
    Thank you,
    Adam

I have the exact same problem.
I found the key combination ⌘ alt F2 also restores the proper resolution on both displays, however it's still a bit annoying

  • Explorer.exe hangs on resolution changes

I seem to have to have a very persistant, very reproducable and very annoying problem with explorer.exe just completely "hanging" frequently. This started happening near the end of November, about a month after I used Windows 7 (professional x64) with no problems. To make a long story short, it happens nearly any time my display changes (resolution or anything else).
    Here's a more detailed description:
Before late November, everything worked perfectly. I don't recall what could have caused the change. I uninstalled anything I installed during or after November. I do not have anything visible on my desktop. However, any time the resolution changes, explorer.exe hangs using 50% of my cpu, or 100% of one core. Clicking on the taskbar or desktop lets me know that "Explorer.exe has stopped responding", allowing me to restart it, which I occasionally also choose to do via Process Explorer. At first, I only noticed during or after playing games, but now I have tested this thoroughly and determined that it is in fact most likely a display problem, concluded from the following pretty exhaustive list:
Unplugging my external monitor causes explorer.exe to hang.
Plugging in my external monitor also does.
Changing resolutions on either monitor, to any resolution, causes explorer.exe to hang.
Changing resolutions on the internal monitor while the external monitor is unplugged also causes a hang.
Uninstalling the ATI display drivers causes a hang.
Changing resolutions with the default Windows display drivers between 800x600 and 1024x768 (the only two options) causes a hang. (Uninstalled and followed with Driver Sweeper so no trace of the ATI display drivers are available and the display is running purely on Windows defaults.)
Installing updated ATI drivers causes a hang directly after the resolution is changed automatically.
Unchecking all options in the "Perfermance Options" causes explorer.exe to hang.
Unchecking all options but leaving visual styles on does not result in a hang (if it was on to start with).
Turning off visual styles causes the display to blink briefly before displaying the "Please wait" box and, when it is finished and the desktop is displayed again, explorer.exe has been hanging approximately since the display blink.
Running games that cause the resolution to change usually cause explorer.exe to hang, but not always. This is particularly odd. Opening the simple game Torchlight in full screen at 1280x800, does not pose a problem; however, Alt-Tabbing out of it causes the hang as well as closing it, which both revert the resolution to the desktop resolution (1920x1200). Running the game in a window is no problem. Running the game in full screen at 1920x1200 is also no problem, regardless of starting, using Alt-Tab or closing, even though the display blinks for a moment. Team Fortress 2 consistently causes explorer to hang when launching (hanging TF2 as well, until explorer has been killed). All goes well while TF2 is running, even with explorer restarted. When TF2 is closed, explorer hangs again. Thus, it always causes explorer to hang, whether opening or closing. In windowed mode, it causes no problems. I can give examples of a number of more games if it helps pinpoint the problem.
The event viewer shows no errors or warnings after a hang (except for the standard ones that are generated if the "Explorer.exe has stopped responding" dialog shows up by clicking on the taskbar or desktop. If it is killed manually before showing the dialog, nothing shows up.) It does log some information specific to ATI functions in the ACEEventLogSource which seem to be specific to an explorer freeze. No information was generated when Torchlight changed resolutions without a resulting hang but the following was generated upon closing, with an explorer hang:

Disabling all non-Microsoft Shell extensions (with ShellExView x64) didn't help.
As of writing, I have the feeling it didn't happen in safe-mode but I would need to retest this to make sure.
A clean boot yields no improvement. Changing the resolution following a clean boot still results in a hang.
Using Process Explorer, I have also checked all non-Microsoft DLL's running in conjunction with Exlporer.exe and these were only db's (some related to BitTorrent), a Comodo antivirus DLL and a bunch of Broadcom Widcomm Bluetooth files. Thus, I uninstalled all of those including the bluetooth software and drivers, unfortunately, to no avail. Changing resolutions still crashes Explorer!
    My system is as follows:
    ASUS M51Va Notebook
    Windows 7 Professional x64
    ATI Radeon HD 3650
    Catalyst Version 09.12
    DirectX Version 11
    Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0716
    OpenGL Version 6.14.10.9232
Internal monitor Generic PnP Monitor at 1200x800 32bit 61Hz
External monitor Samsung SyncMaster 2433BW/2433GW, SyncMaster Magic at 1920x1200 32bit 59Hz connected by an HDMI to DVI-D cable
    Anti-virus is Comodo
If any more information is needed I'll gladly provide it! This is truly a very aggrivating problem. Particularly when gaming or hooking up displays for presentations etc. I really can't think of any thing else that could be meddling with Explorer, causing it to crash. I would love to find the source of the problem, but I'm prepared to finally bite the bullet and reinstall Windows to get rid of this extremely annoying problem. Help would really be appreciated.
If I figure anything out, I'll post the results.

  • Display resolution changes when I close Notebook

    Hello,
I have a very annoying problem since I reinstalled the complete system of my Z60m (including all updates within the thinkpad system update utility).
I configured 'Close Notebook Behaviour' in the energy manager to do NOTHING (neither hibernate nor standby) if I close my notebook cover. When I close it the display driver seems to interprete the closing as a removal of the display device and when I re-open the cover the ati display card starts with a resolution of 600x400, detects the native resolution of the panel (1600x1024) and changes it immediately. The problem is, that all open programs including the desktop are going through this resolution change too and everything gets completely cluttered.
I already tried to remove all drivers and reinstall without Catalyst center (I installed only the drivers), but it didn't help to fix the problem. I also tried to inactivate PowerPlay and automatic device detection. This didn't help neither.
The point is, that before I re-installed my system everything was fine when I re-opened the cover of my notebook, with the same configuration within the energy manager.
    My system details:
    Thinkpad Z60m (2531-E9G)
    Windows XP (SP3)
    ATI Radeon X600
ATI Driver incl. Catalyst Control Center (Driver-package version: 8.383.1.1.3-070621a2-051036C)
Any hint or advice regarding this issue is appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards

    Hi R - J - C
Are you using external monitor or have an apple video adapter plugged in into your mini dvi port, if that so, try to unplug that first.
Also once you set it back to its native resolution, try not to go back there by check the "Show displays in menu bar" and you can change the resolution from there.
May I ask why you need to go to system preference > display that often?
Try to repair permission and reset PRAM to refresh it.
    Good Luck.

  • Facebook screen resolution changes automatically everytime on Mozilla Firefox 4. Other websites opens fine.

I have recently updated to Firefox 4. I am having many problems with this version.
I am unable to use Facebook properly. The Facebook screen resolution changes every time automatically. The screen resolution gets very big.
When I open the FB site the resolution will be fine as soon I open another tab to check other website and roll back to the FB tab the screen resolution gets big and can't get back to normal view.
I have to close the FB tab and open a new tab to put the FB URL to use it. When I try to view other tabs and then open the FB tab the screen resolution is changed.
I have problem with only FB on Firefox 4, other websites are working fine.
I also tried opening FB on IE8 and Chrome. Their the site is opening normal. Have no issues with their browsers. I spotted it to be a problem with Firefox 4 and also the IDM (Internet Download Manager) doesn't work on the FF4 where it used to work on the earlier version of FF.
Do something about the IDM integration with FF4 to download FLV,MP4 videos from YouTube and other websites.
There is no "Go back to multiple pages" button in a FF4 tab. It only allows us to go back to the previous page. If I have open 10 pages in a single tab then I have to click the back button 10 TIMES to open the last (10th page) but in the previous FF3 there is a facility to view all the pages in a drop down which the current version of FF4 doesn't have :-( I am using Windows XP 2 Professional 32-bit and owner of the computer.
Please fix the issues asap else I have to move back to the earlier version or have to shift to some other browser :

  • Screen resolution changes every time I open I-Tunes

The screen resolution changes when I open I-Tunes. I have to go into control panel every-time to adjust the resolution to make the print and screen layout small enough so its entirety is captured which then allows me to use I-Tunes. Otherwise the graphics are too large to be captured on the screen making the program unusable.

  • Display resolution changes during sleep

This does not look quite like anything I've seen here already. Mid-2010 Mac Mini, OS X 10.9.2, Acer V173 monitor with 1280 x 1024 maximum resolution, connected via Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter (because the monitor has only a VGA input). Resolution is set at 1280 x 1024. I have Display Menu installed and the icon sits at the top in the menu bar.
Display goes to sleep when there is no user activity for a few minutes (because although the display doesn't use much power it's still against my nature to waste any). I wake it up by hitting a non-printing key such as control, option, command, or all three together. Often as not, the display wakes up in a lower resolution. I can usually restore it to 1280 x 1024 by using Display Menu, but then I also have to resize some of the windows that have been shrunk by the lower resolution.
I don't want the display resolution to change. I tried resetting NVRAM and repairing file permissions, no help.
Why does the display resolution change without my knowledge and consent? More to the point, how can I keep it from doing that?

Another helpful hint, again I forget where on this discussion board I saw it, is that holding down the Option key while hitting the Scaled button in Display Preferences gives a wider choice of resolutions. Ordinarily the only resolution option is 1280x1024, but the Option key brings up others, including 1280x960.
On the theory that Apple doesn't like the 5:4 aspect ratio of the native 1280x1024 resolution of the monitor, I set the monitor resolution to 1280x960 yesterday (June 23). There's a little distortion from using a 4:3 aspect ratio on a physically 5:4 monitor, but if two weeks go by (July 7) without the resolution going bad, I will try a new (or used) monitor.
The next question is, would Apple dislike a wide screen aspect ratio? If it likes 16:9, would it dislike 16:10? With my hardware and OS, and a 1080p HDTV/monitor connected with an HDMI cable, would the resolution stay put?

  • Screen resolution changed upon awake; old resolution no longer available

My new MSI Z97 i7 mobo based Windows TP woke from sleep this morning, with the resolution changed to 1024x768.
When I went to change it back to 1920x1200, that resolution is not available; only 1920x1024, and the screen looks odd. Unless advised otherwise, I will try to re-install the display drivers that came w/ the mobo, to get the display correct again. Otherwise,
    really liking Win10

    Hello Giggirock,
Firstly, i would take the display and conect it to another machine. See if you can achieve this resolution with another computer. If the same problem occurs, i would say its the controller board on the LCD. if the resolution was there(on the other computer) then u may have a problem with the video card in your computer.
try this out, and let me know how you go

  • Restart GKrellm on screen resolution change in KDE

    Hi all!
Any trusty GKrellm wizards still out there? Or KDE mastahs?
I much prefer GKrellm and dockapps for my system monitor needs and currently use the former as a panel in the top right corner on my KDE 4.5 desktop. It works great except for screen resolution changes where switching from larger to smaller resolutions and vice versa breaks the alignment to the right border of the screen.
My question is if there is a lean way, either through GKrellm, KDE or even bash/d-bus or similar to restart GKrellm (which is fast and good enough a solution for me) when I change resolution? Any ideas?
I wish KDE had as an option for "on resolution change, execute X". Come to think of it, I would like KDE to offer this option for power management state switches as well. Hmm, perhaps there should be a generalized "state-based" daemon for launching arbitrary external commands in KDE much like the tools available on Android phones these days, like Tasker, Locale and Setting Profiles...

No hints for how to do this? What about in Gnome?
