Ipohne to ical on new MacBook

Basically my iphone will not sync with my ical. I had bought the iphone before the macbook so i entered everything in the iphone but i can't sync it with the ical on my new macbook.

My calendar was not syncing either, I had "all calendars" checked under the info tab on the itunes/iphone page. Instead I checked "selected calendars" and then checked all the calendars individually. this time it seemed to sync fine.

Are you wanting to import iCal to the MacBook Air. Since iCloud doesn't work with 10.6 OSX you probably don't have any data in iCloud yet?

    Hello b.krushel,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities
Any number of things could cause this issue, so I would recommend this article named iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar found here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999.
    These sections in particular:
    General Troubleshooting
Make sure there are no current issues listed on the System Status that affect iCloud Calendar. The System Status is located on the iCloud Support webpage.
Make sure you have fully enabled iCloud Calendar for the client you are using (for more setup and troubleshooting information on iOS, OS X, Windows and iCloud.com, see the additional details below).
Check to see if the issue you are seeing is covered in iCloud Help. To search iCloud Help, visit help.apple.com/icloud.
Check your settings and preferences as something may not be set up correctly. For example, having incorrect date and time settings can cause issues which are easily resolved by entering the appropriate settings.
Troubleshooting Calendar on OS X Mountain Lion (iCal on OS X Lion)Note: For instructions on setting up iCloud Calendar with Calendar or iCal on your Mac, see iCloud Setup. If you are having trouble with Calendar or iCal on a Mac and you are using iCloud Calendar, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved:
Make sure you are using OS X Lion v10.7.2 or later. Click here for help verifying the version of OS X you are using.
Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com and iCloud.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in iCal. Click here for more information about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
Verify that your iCloud member name is entered into the iCloud Preference pane in System Preferences. See iCloud Setup for more information about setting up iCloud on a Mac.
Make sure you enter and update calendar information in the iCloud section of Calendar or iCal. Only calendars and events in the iCloud section of the Calendar or iCal Calendar list will be pushed to iCloud. Both Calendar and iCal for the Mac support the display of and interaction with multiple accounts and datastores, for example, iCloud, On My Mac, Exchange, Google, and so on. This makes it easy to create or modify events or calendars in a section of  Calendar or iCal that may not be updating iCloud. Learn more about moving local calendars to iCloud.
In some cases, you may find that you have data duplicated in both the local On My Mac and the iCloud sections of Calendar or iCal. Learn more about resolving this issue.
You can make the iCloud calendar your default calendar for all new events. In Calendar on OS X Mountain Lion, choose Calendar > Preferences > General, or in OS X Lion, choose iCal > Preferences > Generaland under the Default Calendar heading, select one of the Calendars under the iCloud heading. Close the Preferences window to save this change.
If recent changes simply don't appear, try forcing Calendar or iCal to refresh by selecting Refresh All from theCalendar menu.
Make sure your account was successfully created in Calendar on your Mac (or iCal). After upgrading to iCloud Calendar, you may need to quit and reopen Calendar (or iCal). To confirm your account is configured correctly in iCal:
    Open Calendar (or iCal).
    Open Calendar (or iCal) Preferences.
Click Accounts. You should see an account with your iCloud member name entered.
Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on
    Quit Calendar (or iCal).
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
Remove the checkmark in the checkbox next to Calendars.
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and choose iCloud.
Replace the checkmark next to Calendars.
    Close System Preferences.
Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue has been resolved.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • New Macbook iCal will not sync to MobileMe

I bought a new macbook air and when i turn on syncing, my mobileme account will not sync the calendar saying mobile me needs to be fixed...the dialog box says:
"You need to replace your calendar information on MobileMe." If this computer has the most current information, click replace. If the most current information is on another computer, click Fix Later and replace your information from that computer...
    Thanks for any ideas...

Sounds like exactly the same problem I have. Have Black MacBook and iPhone 3Gs synced to MobileMe and everything works. I set up a White MacBook (both MacBooks are 10.5.8) with new HD, formatted, new install of Leopard, new application installs, ran software update until all are current, then ran Repair Permissions.
Then turned on MobileMe sync. Safari bookmarks, Mail, Contacts, etc all sync fine and near real time for changes. iCal on computer is completely blank--didn't even update the 4 named calendars. I reset iSync history and tried replacing data on computer with MobileMe content. Nothing. Then reset iSync history again and tried merging all data. This time it said there was over 3,000 calendar events to add. Sounded good. But nothing happened.
Looks like I can create a new event in iCal and it syncs to MobileMe, then delete in MM and it updates on MacBook. But zero existing events in MM show in iCal on MacBook, even when I edit one and resave it.
Update: I sent a message to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback.

  • I am trying to sync my new MacBook Air iCal with my iMac calendar.  I can get it to sync if my iMac is set to MobileMe calendar, but I cannot get rid of iCal which keeps coming up with an error message.

I am trying to sync my new MacBook Air iCal with my iMac calendar.  It will synce with MobileMe calendar on the iMac, but I can't get rid of iCal on the iMac and this one keeps coming up with an error message.

About the only thing you can try is using the Online Internet Recovery system to reinstall Lion on your Mac over the top of the current install. that will reset all system files and should not touch your personal files or the apps you have installed.
Or iof you have a recent Time Machine backup use that to restore your Mac to that point in time.

  • My new macbook pro (lion) iCal has been showing the wrong date?

My new macbook pro (lion) iCal has been showing the wrong date for stored events - even though i have put the appointment in on the right date when I look it up a week or so later it has changed?
I think it might be showing 2011 date? How can i fix this and do I have back-up of my original dates?

Good to hear .  Happy computing!

  • TS4006 my iCal in my new MacBook Air doesn't sync with the iCal data in my iPad despite having it "checked" (ON) in the system preferences iCloud. what else do i have to do to activate the iCal and have sync with my iPad?

    Issue: iCal
I can't sync the iCal in my new MacBook Air with the existing iCal in my iPad. I went to system preferences (settings) to iCloud and checked the iCal to enable it to sync to my existing iPad iCal. Still nothing happened. It's strange because i successfully synced my contacts doing the same thing. Is there anything I have to have my iCal activated in my new MacBook Air?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • ICal not working on new MacBook

I have a new MacBook and iCal appears to be locked. I cannot enter a calender, therefore cannot enter events. I have iCal working on my MacBook Pro and have attempted to sync via .Mac. Every time the sync process appears to work but the iCal screen remains resolutely blank--no sign of a calendar or of an event or todo. This seems very strange and I am thinking there must be a very simple explanation. Note that I have checked with .Mac for both machines to sync iCal. Maybe I have a corrupt data file, but I cannot think how on a new machine.

So long as there's no data in iCal that you need to keep (and it sounds from your explanation that you have had no chance to get any in), you can reset iCal by doing the following:
    1. Close iCal.
    2. Delete the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/iCal/
    3. Delete all files in ~/Library/Preferences/ that contain "ical". There are three on the machine on which I am writing.
    4. Turn off .Mac syncing by unchecking "Synchronize with .Mac" in the Sync tab of the .Mac control panel.
    5. Start iCal.
If you see a couple of blank default calendars in iCal (Work and Home) you have been successful in resetting iCal.
You should be able to activate .Mac syncing again, but before you do I suggest you should do a Reset Sync Data... in the Advanced tab, choosing to replace all sync info on this computer with sync info from .Mac.
    Good luck!

  • Syncing iPhone calendar to brand new MacBook Pro iCal.

How can I add my iphone calendar data to iCal on my new macbook? I feel like if I do it through iTunes, it will wipe my iphone calendar and I'll be left with nothing.

You need to do it through iTunes. Copy the iTunes folder from your Music folder of the old Mac to your new Mac. There is an entire forum area devoted to the iPhone here:

  • Brand new MacBook Pro (Lion) and Multiple Applications are quitting unexpectedly including iCal

I have a brand new MacBook Pro and for some reason applications, in particular iCal, seem to quit unexpextedly all the time.  Not sure why but I am using iCal for both iCloud and Google Apps for my business.
Anyone else having this issue or have some solutions I could try?
    Thanks!

ds store is right: the machine is obviously faulty. Tell them about the card reader problem and get the machine exchanged. Don't let them fob you off with a service. I had a problem with the DVD drive, the trackpad and the card reader in the first year of my 2009 MBP and each time I let them get away with 'servicing' until the Warranty ran out, and I now have to use a cable for the camera, can only use 'tap' (not click) on the trackpad and have to use an external DVD writer.
Like you, I'd had a previous Apple laptop (2004 iBook) that could take a direct hit from a Scud missile and still function perfectly (indeed, its still going now) , so I was not as insistent as I should have been.
Apple machines are great, but every now and again you get a dud.

  • IPhone no longer syncing with iCal since purchasing new Macbook Pro

I've searched other posts and some were exhaustively long complaints about iCloud and I really don't want to read through 600 posts to get to what should be a simple answer to a really obnoxious problem that never used to be a problem before Maverick.
My calendars are not syncing. I've gathered from 1 other post to make sure that I have iCloud turn on for iCal on my Macbook and on my iPhone. Done. But still nothing is syncing. When I sync on iTunes, no calendar syncing happens. How else am I supposed to sync my calendars? Please help!

You can no longer sync via iTunes. That method of sync was removed (and the 1000+ post thread is arguments over things tangientally related to that).
You need to sync via other means than iTunes, then.
One option is to use iCloud. If you sign into iCloud on all your devices, and then make sure your calendars are in the "iCloud" section on your devices, they should sync.
If you don't want to use iCloud, you could use Google calendars, they operate much the same way (but may be less reliable).
Or if you use Exchange for work, you could sync that way.
Or if none of those are acceptable, you could install OS X Server and set up the calendar server on your local network and use it to sync. This is fairly straightforward "for setting up a UNIX calendar server" but it's not trivial and beyond the scope of a forum post to explain it all

  • How do I get my New Macbook pro to sync with .mac account????

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro to replace my Ibook G4 which had been successfully syncing on my .mac account with my Imac G5 desktop computer.
The new Macbook Pro has Leopard while my G5 has Tiger. The salesperson told me that this would NOT be a problem at all. I configured the Ical to sync automatically in the preferences along with contacts and mail accounts. They both worked fine but the ICal does not sync.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Skip

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did, several times. What finally happened is after about 18 hours, the syncing started to work. I think what happened was that the mac server must take some time for backing up or whatever and all of a sudden when it did, it synced....
    go figure.

  • Using O2M I imported my contacts into Address Book. However upon exiting the contacts are not saved. This is on a new Macbook Pro Lion OS. How does one save the newly imported contacts?

Using the program O2M I successfully imported emails from Outlook 2003 to Mail, and calendar events to iCal. However, repeated attempts to import contacts to Address Book have failed. The contacts appear to import, but when I close Address Book and reopen it, the contacts are gone. I tried File-Save, but Save is greyed out. This is a new Macbook Pro with the latest Lion OS. I wonder if O2M has not been updated to work with Lion. Or is there something I am overlooking in the import process?

Hi Denisej and others who have encountered the same problem,
I tried your work around. Unfortunately it did not work out for me because in my contacts there are an unknown number that still "refused" to be imported like that. When such a contact was in the group I selected for import the whole lot would be lost again after re-opening Address Book. Finally that meant that I had to import each contact one-by-one, each time with the need to close down Address Book. A job to go nuts and end up with a mouse injury. So I decided to use the Migration Assistant that Lion now offers
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3284404
together with Windows Migration Assitant on my old PC. Obviously both Mac and PC have to be on the same network. For this I did not need to do anything special. Both make use of the same router and that is apparently sufficient. When migrating the contacts Lion creates a new account, so you need to log in to that new account to see your migrated contacts. I used the Export Address Book Archive function in the Address Book menu to copy the lot to my own Apple account. I got rid of the new account and I was finally where I wanted to be in the first place.
