  • Quotation With IPPE Structure.

    Hi Experts...
I have a scenario where i wish create a quotation with variant configuration (like building block J66), but my customer use the IPPE to manage the product structure (no super bom or super router). Anybody have a documentation or experience to share against quotation with IPPE and variant configuration? Its possible explode the IPPE structure in a quotation?
    Best Regards,
    Richard.

    Hi,
your client would probably need to convert the iPPE structure into classic configurable (sales) material BOM. iPPE has 2 primary use cases:
    1. Repetitive Manufacturing in Automotive
    2. Engineering product structure (today, in SAP PLM web UI, this is called Product Structure Management) - to be converted into classic configurable sales/manufacturing material BOM (today, done through Guided Structure Synchronization).
I guess your customer is using ECC DIMP 5.0 or the DIMP switch in ECC 6.0? Which of both? Which industry?
Hence iPPE is not available directly for explosion in quotation processing.
    Regards, Ulf.

  • Multiple Hierarchies in one query - selection order

    Hallo experts,
can you maybe help with the following issue:
We have a query which uses two Company structure hierarchies (Hierarchy 1 & Hierarchy 2).
In the variable selection of the query, the system gives us only the Hierarchy 2 for selection.
Is there a possibility to controll what the system gives for selection? Namely that the system shows the Hierarchy 1 for selection in variable selection?
    Thanks,
    Fazliddin

    Hi,
If u are on BI7 u can use restrict the hierarchy with 'hierarchy 1' in 'default values' section.
Else u can write CMOD exit with i_step=1 and set the value to 'hierarchy 1' there
    Hope it helps

    Rathy

  • IPPE in Equipment  - Consistency Checks -- ECC6 Upgrade Problem

    HI All,
We're upgrading from 46C to ECC6. Currently 46C, we don't use iPPE and use IE4N to do install and removal for equipments (issue out reservations).
When we upgrade and try to use IE4N, we get the following message:
No structure gap exists at Equipment <XYZ> (warning message)
No coresponding iPPE structure node foun for function identifier (hard error).
We don't have iPPE setup on equipments, from the documentations on SAP, it mention you can set up on Configuration Tab on IE02. But we don't have that tab.
So how can I bypass iPPE setup in IE4N? Is it part of the switch framework that I can switch off?
I want IE4N to behave like before the upgrade. Any suggestions? has anyone come across the same thing?

I have created an OSS incident with SAP. But they basically came back and said pay their consulting service and have them come out to help us.
As a work around, I found transaction: OMPL1. It allows you customize the error level, whether its error, warning, etc. I turned IPPE error message from an error to warning.

  • Save all structure of current system

    Hello everyone.
Is it possible to save the current state of work( users, objects created, structures, hierarchies...., also all the work I have done in BW so far)? I have to reinstall the complete system. I know this backup of the whole work can be done, but I don´t know the exact procedure.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vlad,
That sounds like a remote client copy using SCC9... you'll need to install a new system (target system) and have it ready for the remote client copy...
See the profile for the client copy here...

  • BW PM Hierarchy

    Hello,
Need some design input into a hierarchy issue that I have!!
We are creating a hierarchy from an iPPE structure and this structure in R3 consists of function locations, nodes and equipment.
          Root
    > Functional Location
    >Structure Node
    >Equipment
In PM you can create a PM order to a Function location or a combination of a function location and equipment.
My sample hierarchy in BW consists of postable nodes being 0MATERIAL and non postable nodes being 0FUNCT_LOC and 0HIER_NODE.
As mentioned a PM order can be created against a Function location only (equipment is not needed) but as BW hierarchies only allow one postable node (in my case equipment)  I miss these records.
Is there a solution out there that will work in my case?
    Thanks

  • New Features in ECC 6.0

    Dear Experts,
I was just going through the latest release notes of SAP ERP Central Component (Release 6.0). I would request you to explain the concept of a couple of new features that am listing below, in the simplest possible way. I need to give a presentation to one of our clients regarding the same and would like to explain them the concepts of these new features in a manner in which they can easily understand it.
My queries are listed below. Kindly respond.
    1) What is the concept of iPPE? How doest it work in conjuction with PS? How to best explain the concept of iPPE for a layman to understand?
    2) Easy Cost Planning has been enhanced with the following new features,
        a) Aggregated Items & b) Archiving
What is the concept for these new features? What are the clarifications that need to be given in order to use these new features?
Waiting for all you experts to respond.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Gokul

    Dear Gokul,
I can answer to one part
iPPE and PS can be integrated so that there will be logical link between objects in PVS (Product Varient Strucutre) and Project in PS.
there n:n relationship between WBS element and iPPE node , also betn Network and iPPE nodes/varients.
Use can use data from iPPE for project procurements.
Using reference points you can tranfer material from iPPE structure to PS Network.
    Thanks,
    Niketan

  • PACKAGE

    Dear all,
    1) Can anyone tell me how to import all java packages like java.util , java.io in a single import statement.
    2) If i want to find a perticular .class file from the all packages of java , how can I achieve this?
    With Regards.
    SUJOY

    jwenting wrote:
Someone shouted that Java is flawed because packages aren't hierarchical so they're going to make the package structure hierarchical. For imports as well? That sounds like something they'd rather want for their super-package thingy.
In the future (if they go all the way) package private members in for example java.util would thus be accessible in java.util.regexp because java.util.regexp is a child package of java.util, and you'd also implicitly import java.util.* when importing java.util.regexp.*.I can kind-of understand the reasoning for the java.util -> java.util.regexp case (although I don't agree with it), but why should you want the other way?
Then a simple "import *" would import all classes in all packages, which sounds like a maintenance and build nightmare in the making.

  • "CONNECT BY"-like query using XPath

    Greetings!
    The problem is as follows:
I have a XML document whose main part contains a set of many subelements names "rasterFile". Each of this elements has an attribute "rasterRefId" which refers to another rasterFile element (to its id attribute). These references form a tree-like structure of parent and child rasters.
What we need is to be able to effectively extract a subset of this structure, e.g. for rasterFile with id="4" we need to get this element, its referenced elements, and the elements referenced by the previously referenced elements (but we may request event four or five levels).
Using a relation database, we should use the CONNECT BY statement, but the document is stored in a XMLType table containing only one row (we use only one large document). So I need to do this sort of query in XPath. How? Or is there any other way to do that?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, the view doesn't seem to help me. We have only one xml document stored and therefore there is only one row in the XMLType table. Using the "SELECT extract()" statement returns one row containing whole result (in CLOB or whatever) and the view has the same problem.
What would solve this problem is the query for a collection of elements that would return each resulting element in a single row. But I haven't been able to find out how to do such a thing.

  • JDS - Dumbed down and dumber

    Re: JDS on Solaris 10
Summary: Dumbed down does not mean easier.
I don't think I have ever, in 15 years as a Sun customer,
hated anything as intensely as I hate the Java desktop!
Hate it, hate it hate it hate it!
    1) Launch menu - cryptic names for things eg. 'Web Browser'
rather than 'Mozilla'. It is a good idea to know the name
of the program you are using. Are people too stupid to deal with
the possibilty that there might be more than one
type of browser, or file viewer, or word processor etc?
Call programs by their names, and organize them into tree-structured
hierarchical menus, with help tips to elaborate on what they
are. Also, what if we have several versions of the same
    program on the system?
    2) Nautilus - Defaults to 'Documents' directory. Stupid, retarded, one
of the most idiotic Windows concepts ever to infect Unix.
    Tells user that they
should dump all their files in a 'Documents' folder. What they
should do is to organize their files by topic in a tree-structured
directory, starting with the Home directory. There is no
    way to disable this "feature".
One other thing - why can't Nautilus have an option
such that if there isn't an action associated with
a file, you can have it default to open in a text
editor? The CDE file manager does this easily enough.
3)gnome terminal - Should default to 'Backspace' and 'Delete' as
delete characters, not some silly control character.
    4) Evolution - Not well integrated into user's account.
         - Can't drag messages into Nautilus
         - Can't drag messages into Local folders higher than 'Mail'
eg. some subdirectory not in within Mail
         - can't save just the text part of the message
         - can't open saved mail files except in Mail directory
The CDE mailer does all of these things. It appears that
    progress means "loss of functionality".
    5) Launch menu - pretty sparse, with respect to applications.
User has no way to add menus and submenus to the Launch menu
as they do in GNOME. Only the Applications and Preferences
menus can be changed. Instead of hiding a potential wealth
of applications in an "Applications" menu, the main
categories should be right in the Launch menu. One possible
example of menus appearing in the Launch menu:
    Accessories
    Documentation
    File Browsers
    Games
    Graphics
    Internet
    Multimedia
    Office
    Other
    Spreadsheets
    System
    Word Processing
Isn't that intuitive? You can find programs by what they do.
There are many possible variations, if only the menu could
    be customized.
    6) Dumbing down of StarOffice. SO launches with a "Templates and Doucments"
window, that shows the files listed in the most recently-visited
directory, but doesn't give any clue as to which directory
that is (eg. no path. Okay, it tells the name of the current directory,
but without the larger context of the path, that is only partly
useful. What's wrong with the full path? Also, why only show the names in
the menus, and not the dates and sizes of files? That information
    can often help indicate contents.
The people who decided these standards should be fired. I'm not
being facetious. I don't want people who think like that
(what, were they hired from Apple?) working for Sun and dumbing
down Sun's products from one generation to the next. If I wanted
a system designed for idiots I'd use Windows-XP. Sun can't
win by being exactly like Microsoft. Sun must offer a DIFFERENT
    and BETTER product.

One of the great things about modern Unices is the ability to
quickly switch back and forth between command line and
GUI. However, especially when bringing in new users who
have never used anything but Windows, you need to have a
    good GUI.
I routinely introduce students in my university genetics
courses to Unix. We do all of our bioinformatics on
Unix, and the last thing I want to have to do is
to give them an environment that is less powerful than
    Windows.
In our research work in genetics and bioinformatics,
again, we need a fully-featured desktop. The command
line is sometimes ideal, but other times more ackward
    than the GUI.
    >If you don't know how to change/rearrange/organize menu startup

In fact, I do know how to change menus in GNOME, which
is no simple task. I do not have root permissions on our
campus system, so changes would have do be done
using vfolders, which as I've pointed out, has many limitations.
As well, I don't relish the mess involved in getting new users
    to each fix their menus.
The issue is not that there aren't workarounds, but rather,
that I consider Sun to be the best computing platform on
the planet, which I why I have had Solaris exclusively on
my desktop since 1990. Therefore, a trend toward dumbing
down what has up to now been a great system is very
troubling to me. Sun should be leading the way in providing
    power without sacrificing useablilty.
    >I also think you should learn more about a product before hackin it like
    >that.
I speak from experience using Sunview, Open Windows, CDE,
KDE, Red Hat's GNOME, Java Desktop, not to mention Windows XP
    and limited Aqua.
Currently, the only "computer" in my office is a SunRay. I don't
use Windows for anything. Everything from routine office
tasks to DNA sequence analysis to programming
    is done on the SunRay.
The convenience of not having to switch back and forth
among several Windows boxes for different things is

    Dear Gokul,
I can answer to one part
iPPE and PS can be integrated so that there will be logical link between objects in PVS (Product Varient Strucutre) and Project in PS.
there n:n relationship between WBS element and iPPE node , also betn Network and iPPE nodes/varients.
Use can use data from iPPE for project procurements.
Using reference points you can tranfer material from iPPE structure to PS Network.

  • Column View

While in column view I see the entire directory/sub-directory structure in the window. Is there a way to specify a particular directory as the root of the current window, so that I don't see it's parent directories in the column view? make sense? thanks for any suggestions

    Hi Rob,
I work with a lot of files, which are structured hierarchically using folders, so the column view is very useful for bouncing around the hierarchy. I've forwarded my idea to OS X feedback, but here is an explanation of how I would like column-view to be, followed by screenshots.
    1) First; notice that there aren't extra empty-columns to the far-right. Instead, when you enlarge the window, the far-right column will automatically resize to fill the space.
    2) Each column is individually sortable, and has a contextual-menu for changing the sort-type. If you want universal column sorting, there is a Finder preference to toggle.
    3) Each folder has a contextual-menu item called "Make Column Root". This will set the window's far-left column to the selected folder.
    Column-view sorting:

    Make Column Root:
    http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/graphicaliber/contextual-menu.jpg
Result of using the "Make Column Root" command:

That's it really, simple, and would greatly enhance my workflow.

  • Hierarchy Display Problem

    Hi,
I've got a query driven from an organisational unit HR hierarchy. Unfortunately, neither way of presenting the information from the hierarchy is satisfactory.
The two options I know of are to have the rows showing as a flat structure, but org. unit displaying as a hierarchy, or have all the rows displayed within a hierarchy.
For example, with org unit as hierarchy, but the rows flat I'd get something like this:
Org Unit   Grantholder   GrantNo   Sponsor    Grant Value
    University Prof X        441       Test Co.   100
                             442       TestCorp   75
               Prof Y        443       Test Co.   120
               Prof Z        444       TestCorp   80
                                          Result: 375
    Faculty   Prof X        441       Test Co.   100
                             442       TestCorp   75
               Prof Y        443       Test Co.   120
               Prof Z        444       TestCorp   80
                                          Result: 375
Res Sch  Prof X        441       Test Co.   100
                             442       TestCorp   75
               Prof Y        443       Test Co.   120
               Prof Z        444       TestCorp   80
                                          Result: 375
       Dept A  Prof X        441       Test Co.   100
                             442       TestCorp   75
               Prof Y        443       Test Co.   120
                                          Result: 295
       Dept B  Prof Z        444       TestCorp   80
                                          Result: 80
There will be potentially thousands of Grantholders at University level through to dozens within a department. This approach becomes grossly unwieldly for a user.
The obvious way to overcome this is to show grantholders only within the node they are assigned by setting the entire set of rows to use a hierarchical structure:
    Hierarchical Rows     Grant Value
    University            375
      Faculty             375
        Research School   375
          Department A    295
            Prof X        175
              441         100
                Test Co.  100
              442          75
                TestCorp   75
            Prof Y        120
              443         120
                Test Co.  120
          Department B     80
            Prof Z         80
              444          80
                TestCorp   80
As the characteristics aren't laid out in labelled columns, the results are less clear and with even a small number of characteristics, drilling down within the hierarchy becomes a chore. Also, the BEx Analyser can't handle all the indents required for four levels of hierarchy and then a dozen characteristics.
I'm aware there are a few cosmetic options to play with, such as opening nodes above instead or below in the first example or defaulting open all nodes at a specified level in the second example, but none of those solve the core problems.
Ideally, the solution I'm looking for would produce the results shown below:
Org Unit   Grantholder   GrantNo   Sponsor    Grant Value
    University                            Result: 375
    Faculty                              Result: 375
      Res Sch                             Result: 375
       Dept A  Prof X        441       Test Co.   100
                             442       TestCorp   75
               Prof Y        443       Test Co.   120
                                          Result: 295
       Dept B  Prof Z        444       TestCorp   80
                                          Result: 80
(To be honest, to me this seems the most obvious way to present hierarchical data, so I find it surprising that it's not a standard option).
Another option might be if the org unit hierarchy can be split into separate columns:
Node 1     Node 2   Node 3   Node 4  Grantholder, etc...
University Faculty  Res Sch  Dept A  Prof X
                                         Prof Y
                                 Dept B  Prof Z
This is the approach used in the original versions of the reports that we're trying to re-create in BW. However, in that case, each org unit record held information for all its parent nodes and this isn't the case with the org unit hierarchy we get from SAP.
These reports will be delivered predominantly via the web.
Any suggestions for compromises would also be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Vincent,
we came across the same problem. Moreover, the way the hierarchies are displayed interfere with our authorizations on the hierarchies. By giving detailed data on Root level, the user sees information that he is not entitled to see.
I am sorry that I cannot offer any help right now. Did you come across a solution in the mean time?
    Regards
    Catrin

As long as you are only changing the name of a parent you will only be affected by any Parent currency adjustment Journals that were made to that Parent/entity combination. The solution to unpost the Journals, change the parent, and repost the journals will solve the problem for now. You are correct in assuming this is not best practice. Part of the beauty of HFM is to have many organizational structures (hierarchies) and for Journals to follow the entities when you move them or change names (rarely). If you assign a parent currency Journal to a specific parent/entity combination and you have organizational changes down the road you will run into this again. We safeguard against this by having a default hierarchy that contains all Base entities. You need one for each currency group. All our parents are USD, so we only require one group, USD_Journals. Use this as the parent for all Parent currency Journal entires. Then it does not matter which hierarchy the entity shows up in, the journal will follow and the USD_Journals/Entitiy combination will never go away.
This solution is for Parent entities only. Base entities should not ever change names or default currencies. It creates the mess I was describing earlier and dangerous risk of loss of historical data.

    Hi ,
Thanks for quick and valuble responce,
Basically  I do not have  knowledge on this , earlier i use to send the URL lins to Portal consulatants and they use to publish in portal.
Now here there is portal consulatant, but i should deliver the same.
    I created the folder
under that as per your information created the three sub folders with BW, ROLE< Work Set
and created under BW one i view .
But for linking as you said add to work set is not appearing when i do right click on the i view.
as mentioned the below , portal conete studio  all the work where should i perform.
You create worksets in the Portal Content Studio using the Workset wizard, and then build structure hierarchies and assign content objects to the worksets in the Workset Editor.Right Click on the created Subfolder u201CWorksetu201D and choose the menu item Workset
I am giving trouble to you , i do not know that is why iam giving trouble to you. please can you  elobrtae step by step.
