IPrint Appliance: miggui ACL migration
I just ran a printer migration (miggui) from our OES 11 iPrint server to our iPrint appliance (version 1.0.1.69). All printers appear to have migrated successfully with no errors however I noticed that none of the printer ACLs migrated with the printers.
I was told that if I had the users imported into the iPrint appliance before the printer migration process that the ACLs would transfer during the migration process. I attempted the migration after the users were imported into the iPrint appliance with no success of the ACLs migrating from the source server.
Any ideas what I missed or how I can get the ACLs from the Source iPrint server to the Target iPrint appliance?
Thanks in advance!

Best Practice Moving to iPrint Appliance
I'm working with a site that has some old NDPS printing on NetWare 6.5 and some OES based iPrinting. We are moving to the iPrint appliance. While you can migrate/import printers from the old system into the appliance, I haven't figured out the best way to deal with the clients. What have others done to switch the clients over to the appliance based printers? Are there any tricks here? Looking for what others have done. Thanks.

IPrint Appliance 1.1 and Firefox 36.x- can't install printers
iPrint Appliance 1.1
Patches Applied:

iPrint-1.1.0.410.HP.zip 2015-01-22 16:16:56

iPrint-1.1.0.412.HP.zip 2015-02-02 13:33:11
Win8.1x64 and Win7Prox64 workstations running Firefox, in an AD-only
environment
All was working well until Firefox upgraded from v35.x to v36.x. Now,
we cannot install printers from the ipp page. The page pulls up,
printer can be selected, we get the dialog box asking about installing
the printer and the checkbox to set as default, but when proceeding
with the install the dialog disappears and no printer installation
commences.
Back-revving Firefox to v35.0.1 allows printer installation to
complete. Java ranges from 8.25 to 8.40 and the problem appears
across all, no correlation between java version and the problem
appearing-- only the FF version.
Is anyone else seeing this issue?
Thx,

Did anybody try to run it on iPrint Appliance 1.01
If it does not work, are there any alternatives? Or moving to MS Printing is
the only option?

Theoretically it might work but it certainly won't be supported by
either A.N.D. Technologies (developer of Pcounter) since
development has ended of Pcounter for Novell.
Incidentally I note the Installation Guide for latest version of
Pcounter for Novell (5.52) refers to SLES10 SP3 + OES2 SP1 (which
is an invalid combination and was never supported by Novell!) so
I suspect OES11 is also not supported.

There are a few alternatives available but the one that seems to
be the most popular is PaperCut.

I have attempted 3 times a run at this for the upgrade. This should not be
this hard. I have watched during the upgrade at the messages file and see
all kinds of directory errors basically I think about the tree. It just runs
on and on. I am wondering if anyone knows what this file is? Is this the
file the directory would be restored from? mobileappliancedib.db

Stuck at "Setting up a new iPrint Appliance, please wait .."
Hi!
iPrint Appl 1.0.1 and a new setup and stuck at "Setting up a new iPrint Appliance, please wait ..." (Configuring...), for hours. I remember it didn't take a long time with 1.0.0 to set up.
Mh. Any experiences already?
More thanks, Alar.Hi!
Just to end this thread. Seems to it (problem described below) was caused by separate (second) hard disk presence which had installation from old system and even choosing a New install ... it stuck at it.
New install with "clean" second disk solved the problem, but, seems to, this second disk is no needed for iPrint Appliance, anyway.

Iprint Appliance Import Users Swipe card ID for Papercut
Hi All
We are using the iPrint Appliance in conjunction with Papercut follow me printing. The idea is that everyone prints to the one iPrint Printer and whichever printer the user goes to they swipe their ID card and Papercut redirects their job to that printer. Our issue is that the swipe card number for each user is stored in the Serial Number attribute in eDirectory. As the iPrint appliance is it's own Edirectory tree when we do the iPrint LDAP import we need to import the Serial Number attribute as well so Papercut has access to the each users swipe card number. It does not matter which attribute the number is imported to as I can adjust that at the Papercut end. Under the Users section on the LDAP import screen it lists the Internal ID to ldap attribute list. I have tried changing this list to get the sync to import to the Card ID number from the Serial Number attribute to the phone, Description, even first and last name but even left at the defaults the only attribute it will sync is the Last Name.
If anyone has any idea where I could go next to try something or even get a log file to try and trace what is going on.
Many Thanks in advance
GraemeGlad to hear you were able to work around the issue. I have passed along an enhancement request to engineering. I am not sure if it something that will be addressed, but if it is, I'll update this post.

Installing samba on iPrint Appliance 1.1
Hi all,
Just wondering if there is a way to set up samba on the iPrint Appliance?
We have Papercut set up on the iPrint Appliance and I am attempting to set up the Web Print functionality of Papercut. However this requires a samba share to be created on the iPrint Appliance server (/vastorage/papercut/server/data/web-print-hot-folder) that is to be accessed by a Windows server acting as an intermediary for print jobs for users that are using their own BYOD notebooks.
I am assuming this is not a supported configuration for the iPrint Appliance as it isn't a listed configurable system service in the iPrint Appliance web console nor installed by default, but I'm just throwing this out there in case there is a way.
Regards,
MattThanks Simon.
I'll definitely raise it with Papercut.

You'd need to grab and install the Samba-related packages from matching
SLES media (or installed server) but as you rightly assume this would
not be supported by Novell (so would have implications if any security
issues reported and/or subsequently patched).
It's probably worth both contacting PaperCut and logging an enhancement
request with Novell[1].

IPrint Appliance 1.1 detailed upgrade instructions
So I've read through what documentation I found but I must have missed the section with details upgrade instructions from 1.0.1 to 1.1. If I did could someone point me to them. If I didn't is anyone willing to take a crack at creating some. Mobile printing is just starting to catch on here and I want the new features but I don't want downtime.
Any help is appreciated, even if it's just hey bone head read it here. Thanks.
Or is it exactly the same as 1.0.1?Originally Posted by nlandas

The IP info and username and password info is easy to duplicate. Is there an easy way to look up and write down the remainder like disk setup?
-Nyle
That question sounds really novice to me. What I mean to say is I'm confused on the disk portion more specifically. On Filr you have to create separate disks to store information with Mobile iPrint I don't remember doing that. My VM only shows one 40GB disk attached to it. The video simply shows selecting use hard disk and continuing on. It also says on the warning message that says don't store data on the system disk (Which apparently, I am doing on the appliance already) the video says to just continue anyway.
Then it shows importing the configuration into it.
So once I've done that since I have all the IP and username info, etc. How do I add another hard disk to store data. I was pretty certain I set up the appliance as per documentation but obviously if I was supposed to add another virtual disk, I did something wrong. -
Hello,
We are trying to perform a migration from an NTFS filesystem to Oracle Content Services.
We need to migration metadata such as access rights and security from the files contained in the NTFS filesystem (combined with AD), to Content Services and OID.
We have seen that there were several options to do this (files permissions migration), but we would like to operate rapidly, due to the large amount of files (about a million).
These options were:
- use of cmsdk
- use of webservices (Content Services )
We are also actively trying to find any kind of solution that could help us in the process.
thanks in advanceThe estimate may nit be very accurate, I've seen it go up, then down to half, then with one minute remaining take an hour or 2 to finish.
1. How are they networked, Wifi or Ethernet?
2. Only way I know would be to install OSX on rhe external drive, then boot from the external drive.
Sure seems too long though, have you made sure both drives are not in need of repairing?
