IPrint for Linux client, Lexmark and HP

So far, we have only had iPrint working on OES2 Linux for Windows (XP) clients. On my openSUSE/SLED workstation I have had to setup local printing instead using CUPS and PPD for our networked Lexmark MF and PS laserprinter.
Now before installing a new HP Designjet T790PS plotter, I wonder if iPrint can be set up for Win7 clients plotting and by using HPLIP for plotting from Linux clients?

Using iManager in the iPrint section you can setup the Plotter and other Printers for network printing by creating: The Driver Store, Print Manager(s), Printer(s) and Driver Profile - - this would allow you to effective setup all for printing from Windows and SLED.

  • Jinitiator plugin for Linux client

Is there any Jinitiator plugin available for Linux client??
    Thanks,
    Pranjal

This is my post in the "Install and upgrade" forum.
    I hope it will help.
Any help with the r12 will be welcome.
    Hi all,
I'm able to see the forms directly in my linux box in 11.5.10.2 but not in R12.
    Can anybody help?
The following are the steps to see the forms in 11.5.10.2:
    a) Change the $COMMON_TOP/html/bin/appsweb_VIS_localhost.cfg in the following lines:
    jinit_mime_type=application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2
    plugin=jdk
    sun_plugin_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2
    sun_plugin_version=1.4.2
    b) With root (we needed a jdk 1.4.2)
    ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_09/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin-oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Where is the equivalent of the file $COMMON_TOP/html/bin/appsweb_VIS_localhost.cfg?
I've found (with the find command) 2 files with the name appsweb.cfg, but none with the appsweb_VIS_localhost.cfg name.
    Thanks

  • Home directories for Linux clients?

    Hello,
I want to setup OS X Server to serve as an authentication server for Mac-, Windows- and Linux-clients. I have the services DHCP, DNS, OpenDirectory (as Open Directory Master) and Windows (as PDC) running.
So far there is no problem to login on the three different platforms via LDAP. In WGM I set the home directory for Mac-clients and activated the virtual homes feature for windows. On both clients I get the network home functional but on the linux client the home does not appear.
How do I configure the server to realize that? I thought that the linux clients would use the samba share that the windows clients use.
    iMac G5 (iSight) 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

When you log in to the linux machine, do you get an error that states that the home directory for the user cannot be found? That error message should give you the path that is set in the LDAP directory as the home directory for that user. This directory needs to be added to the Linux filesystem, and then the Users folder on the OS X Server needs to be NFS mounted (rw) on the Linux machine.
For ease of transition, I softlink /home to this directory on the Linux machines.

  • How to find the executables for OWB Client, Design and Runtime Repositories

    Hi Guys,
I have installed OWB 10G in the my local desktop (in D Drive). From the start menu, I can see the menu options for OWB Client, OWB Design Repository and OWB Run time Repository. If I want to get that execuatbles from which location can I find out. All the menu options are pointing out into d:\OWB Home \....\bin\launch.exe, but when we hit launch.exe nothing is displayed on the screen. can anyone give their suggestions pls
    Regards
    Kishan

launch.exe is the executable but if you look at the lnk files in your start menu the launch exe is followed by two parameters where the last one points to a specific cl file (I'm guessing short for command line) in the same bin directory that also contains a number of parameters. Here all the java jar files are listed that are needed to launch the specific component and how much memory the application can/may use.
So you won't find a classic windows executable if that is what you are looking for. But why are you searching for this in the first place since you can just copy the shortcut/lnk file if you want shortcuts in other places?

I too have managed to get oracle installed on RedHat 2.4.9-17 kernel (Linux/390). However, I am kinda stuck there - I am completely new to Oracle. Is there some basic literature available on things like how to see the database schema (I ran the "@mkdb" cmd in the installation process, and I guess that created some sample database)? or how to look at the table data? I tried the following:

  • Novell iPrint for Linux

    Good day,
I have a server running SLES10 SP4/OES2 SP3, with iPrint, and have started seeing the following error:
Error: Create Print Manager Failure java.net.SocketException: Connection reset IPP Error: 0 x1007
We have just started troubleshooting this issue, but we found TID 7003554 which had as it's title the same issue that is currently being seen in iManager, (we have tried both the server version of iManager (where we get page cannot be displayed) and the workstation version of iManager (where we receive the IPP Error : 0x1007)
Additionally TID 7001424 has also been tried (steps 1 and 2 ) did not alter the outcome, still seeing errors accessing the iPrint for this one server.
So far we are only seeing this issue occurring on one server/iPrint system.
    Thank you,

  • Novell client for linux - scripted install and configure

the novell client is included in SLED11 SP1
the configuration files are in /etc/opt/novell/ncl (esp login.conf)
I want to script the configuration of the novell-client. Some of the things the interface yast - Novell client does, is:
    modify /etc/pam.d/gdm

according to Novell Documentation there should be a make_novell-client-conf_rpm Bash script but i cant find it in any of the recent clients (download) nor on the SLED installation.

    sed -i "s/Default_Context=.*/Default_Context=$1/" /etc/opt/novell/ncl/login.conf

So far this is working well.
The novell login needs to be run once, and on the advanced tab, have the session saved. This then auto runs afterwards for each logon.
    as a troubleshooting tool, I :
    Code:
    cp /etc/etc.1
    rsync -avP etc* my-pc:/tmp/
i can then use krusader to compare files (on my-pc), but most importantly, after doing something (eg yast ldap). rerun the rsync line and and it will tell exactly which file(s) changed, so you know which ones to check/keep/alter/etc
    hope this helps.

  • Using one partition for Linux-, Win.-Swap and Win-Tmp atst?

I think I will keep Windows for the first time I'm going to install Arch. I'm looking for a way to set up one single Partition for usage as Swap or /var/tmp under Linux and at the same time as "rather regular" partition (intended to be one to hold the Windows-Swapfile plus the Windows-TMP-Folder) under Windows.
As regards the usage of the partition as /var/tmp under Linux: I don't explicitly wish to retain data which has been dropped in /var/tmp, therefore I don't care whether it gets lost when booting to another OS. Vice versa: There are absolutly no needs to preserve data which has been stored under %TMP% in Windows. Hence, I wouldn't care if those get lost owing to a change from NTFS to ext3.
Can you think of any way to achive something at least similar?

    hmmm. Long time. no reply.
Disclaimer: I have no real idea how Linux and Windows swap works, not in any detail anyway.  This idea is to be used at your own risk, and after making appropriate backups.
Linux uses a partition type swp by default for swap partitions, changing this to NTFS for windows would be a pain, as you would have to reformat at every boot.
It is possible to use a swap file instead under linux, by mounting a file as swap,  I've seen it for Red Hat. It may be less efficient than a swap partition though.
If you did this, on an ext3 partition, and installed the IFS drivers under windows I guess you could then use this partition all the time.  You might then need a script to create & delete the swap files needed by each operating system, which would have to be executed by the operating system on boot before mounting the swap.
I can see this falling flat if the IFS drivers don't come up under windows before it tries to mount it's swap file, or if it doesn't like swapping to ext3, or a host of other reasons. The only way to find out is probably to try it... Have fun!

  • Request certificate for Linux client - web enrollment

"Internet Explorer cannot run in the local computer's security context; therefore, users can no longer request computer certificates by using Web enrollment."
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732517(WS.10).aspx
Does this mean that we cannot submit a request for a web server certificate via the web interface on behalf of a Linux based web server?
If so, what recourse do we have? Must we use the command line?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/pki/archive/2009/08/05/how-to-create-a-web-server-ssl-certificate-manually.aspx
Of course, Group Policy and auto-enroll is not an option either.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

Web Enrollment no longer support direct certificate enrollment to local machine or smart card store. You have to generate certificate request outside of web enrollment. Though, you can submit pregenerated request via web enrollment pages.

  • I have now used Reflow for 2 client prototypes and here is what I have found.

First, I can see Reflow being an incredible prototyping tool if Adobe steps up and makes it a useful tool for production and not just another creative program to help designers build for the web. That's what Muse is for.
So here is my wish list.
Reflow needs to be able to have more control over the DOM elements. By that I mean, we should be able to have a layer based approach (similar to what you can see in Macaw) to move elements around from "box" to "box" (also, can't we just call them "divs"). Nesting is crucial. Also, what's up with all the IDs in the published files? We should be able to name and create classes for these elements before it publishes. Also, support the basic HTML tags for users to control.
On that note, shared elements should have one style sheet instead of a style sheet for each page.
Also, elements should be able to be saved to a library for use on multiple pages. It is a nightmare now if you create an element on a page that needs to also be placed on other pages. You have to recreate it on each page as of now.
Support for common CSS frameworks would be an amazing idea...just sayin.
As for type...Edge fonts and Typekit are great but we all know that there are many other font libraries out there such as Google fonts. Also, being able to use your own @font-face should be an option.
I think the overall goal would be able to use the files produced as a starting point for production code. As it stands right now, the code that is produced will require more time to format properly than it would be to build from scratch.
I know Reflow is not meant to be a Dreamweaver or Brackets, but it could really help set the stage for development in those programs. It can improve the workflow of web development vs. just being a "cool new app". It has real potential and I hope it gets the love that it deserves.

Control over DOM: Yup we're working on exposing this even more. You may or may not have noticed the elements panel already in Reflow. You can find it here:
Are you looking for more than that? We're looking at ways to expose the elements panel in a better way, that should be coming soon.
As for stye sheets all being in one, we're debating this. Since we don't know everything you want to do page-to-page, we're holding off making this leap until we can begin cleaning up what CSS we already give you. (see last answer)
Common library elements: yup, we want  this too. It's on our backlog.
Frameworks: yup again, on our backlog. Are there frameworks you would prefer? We don't wanna play favorites unnecessarily. We don't know how it might be prioritized, since we've got lots of features to get to.
Additional fonts: yup for this one too, we have it on our backlog to tackle. As a note, most google fonts are available in the Adobe Web Fonts.
Output: We're actively working on improving the CSS output from Reflow. We cannot promise perfect production quality, but the issues you raise are all ones we're eager to minimize.
Thanks for the thorough feedback, we love these kinds of posts!

  • AIR Desktop Application for Linux running HTML5 and JS

    Hello all,
Can I build an application with Adobe AIR coding in JS + HTML5? Once it was indeed possible and there are even tutorials on this technique:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air_javascript.html
If it's still possible with AIR 3.8, how can I build an existing website into a desktop application that will run in debian Linux? I'm struggling to find a resource that teaches how to actually build the application with AIR SDK. I've found how to build an application written in AS3 but not HTML + JS.
    Thanks

    Thank you, kglad.
I think I forgot to mention I'm building an Application Menu. The NativeMenu contains NativeMenuItems and there is no format property or method that I can see. Also, the name the menu item displays is its label property, which you can set, but it's a string, and I believe the htmlText applies to textfields, right?

    Dear Ranjan,
it is always recommended to use the latest available version of glibc. You can use the Red Hat tool 'up2date' to get the latest glibc packages provided through the Red Hat Network (RHN). Currently, glibc-2.3.4-2.36 is the latest one available (as far as I know).

I am a c junior programmer, I wrote a c demo based on <Call Interface Programmer's Guide>,but i found failed sometimes and successful somtimes when i run my demo on linux x86-64.
I wondered why it was failed sometimes and successful sometimes, so i used command strace to debug my demo.
I found my demo was failed when called function getsockopt  whose third argument was negative. The following code:
    getsockopt  (5, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [-8683868481690533888], [4]) = 0
my demo run successful when the third argument of function getsockopt was positive. The following code:
    getsockopt(5, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, [4636081913715490816], [4]) = 0
I downloaded rpm package of instant client for linux x86-32 and installed, the same demo worked perfectly on linux x86-32.
Did instant client for linux x86-64 has a bug?
    any advise would be great.
    Thank you!

    thanks.
I have solved this problem that result in my c demo.

  • FormsCentral PDFs not working for Linux and Unix users

I recently created a PDF (using Indesign > Acrobat IX Pro > Formscentral [AFC]) that includes radio buttons, form fields, linked videos set to play in the PDF once clicked and (after running through AFC) a submit button.
The form has been distributed and we have already had hundreds of successful responses collected in the AFC site, all is working well there.
One major problem we are having is that we have a lot of Linux/Unix users and the response from them is that they can't activate the videos, the form fields are out of kilter alignmentwise and the submit button does not work. Even when using the proper Adobe Acrobat Reader (v9, for example).
Is the Adobe development team aware of problems such as these for Linux/Unix platforms and is there a suggested fix that they know of?
The link to the actual file is here: http://cms.iopscience.iop.org/alfresco/d/d/workspace/SpacesStore/b5a48eac-8642-11e2-8cf8-e 50acbc9fd86/NJP-Video-Abstracts-Competition-2013.pdf
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jesse,
can you email me ([email protected]) the original PDF (before you imported it in FormsCentral)? Also, I'm curious about the format of the video in the PDF. Does the video in the PDF worked in Linux/Unix before going through the FormsCentral import/export?
When I look at your PDF on my Red Hat Entrprise Linux 6.0 system with Reader 9.5.4 it does look fine (location of the fields) but the video generate an error (which I'm still investigating). I have not yet try the submit button on your form (as I don't want to submit bad data to you) but I seem to have an issue with the submit button on other PDF forms I generated (when I try to submit from a linux machine). Still investigating that as well.
