Iprint jobs refused by printer

Hello,
since the update of my OES2 sp3 server all workstations that run iprint client (version 05.32.00) can not send job to printers.
we get an error message : "print job not processed". In the log we can see "job refused by printer".
The oes2 server runs the novell iprint server 6.3.2011.0909-0.7 x86_64.
I searched the forums but I could not find a similar case.
For the moment the only solution I found is to install the latest iprint client version, 05.74.00.....but.....
If someone could give me some tips....
Thanks

No issue..... must install the latest iprint client because there has been much change in the code of the iprint server.
by against it is possible to use the iPrint Direct printing functionality waiting to update the workstations, see tid 7001343.

    Drew76,
Good morning (depending on where you are)!
Based on your description I'm not sure what the problem could be. Not knowing what you've done already, I'll go ahead and ask some basic troubleshooting questions:
    1) Do you have the lastest drivers installed for this product (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html)?
    2) Have you restarted your PC since connecting your new printer?
    3) Have you restarted the printer since you started seeing the problem?
    4) Is this a known-good USB cable?
    5) What kind of job are you trying to print? For example, is it a simple Word .doc or a large PDF document?

  • Hp laserjet 5550n forgets jobs, can only print one copy of a doc at a time

    We're using a Laserjet 5550n in a small office running Mac OS X 10.3.9 to 10.4.6.
We're encountering countless problems when trying to print, and I'm pretty sure I've ruled out the computer setup as the culprit (reset printing system, emptied CUPS caches, repaired permissions, used 'printer setup repair', etc ).
Whenever I try to print multiple copies of the same page it says
*Unable to store job at printer
*Insufficient disk space for this job'
However, storing jobs is switched off anyway!
Another huge problem is that the printer simply 'forgets' large printing jobs. CUPS (at http://127.0.0.1:631) says "printer processing, "Ready to print."", and then just goes back to 'idle'.
When you expect the printed pages to come out nothing happens, and the printer hasn't even started blinking.
We've had this printer for 16 months now, and the problems started just when the warranty had run out.
The 5550n has no additional memory than what it came with
DIMM Slot : 128 MB DDR
    DIMM Slot 2: Empty
    CARD SLOT 1: 32 MB F/W FLASH
I've tried upgrading the firmware to the latest version (20060403 07.009.0), to no avail.
Is there a more detailed log somewhere that I could try looking at to figure out what's going on? The printer web interface Event Log is useless without more detailed explanation.
The printer doesn't give any error messages (though at some point in the past it did say things like "card slot not initalized" or "49.xxxx PRINTER ERROR". I then reinitialised the memory I think ( the 49.xxx error disappeared after that).
I read somewhere about bad RAM or corrupted flash memory. Is there a way to find out if that's the cause?
    Many thanks for any ideas.

I did that - It doesn't list any obvious (well, to me) errors. The job that the printer 'forgot' seems to have come through OK, at least on the computer side.

  • HP LaserJet P1006 refuses to print after a paper jam

I've used an HP LaserJet P1006 for 3 years now and it has performed without a hitch (I don't print that much).  However, recently it swallowed a sheet of paper in a rather crooked fashion that left it gasping, and I had to shut it down.  I was abled to carefully remove the paper after first removing the ink cartridge, but when I tried to print again, it would not do it.  I went through the entire check-up procedure the manual suggests, but no dice, it refuses to print.  This morning I tried something I did not tried before, which was printing  a "Demo Page" under the "Print Information Pages" of the "services" tab of the "Printing Preferences" menu.  To my surprise it printed the Demo Page.  However, it refuses to print anything else, like the "print test page" or print from any other program. Intimidation with a sledge hammer doesn't work either.  Any ideas anyone?  I'd appreciate your comments.  Thanks. JD
    WindowsXP

Thanks for the tip Royal_KB,  I tried what you suggested but no dice.
I tried the HP Print Diagnostic Utility v4.1 with the following results:
    1)  Before I tried to print, I clicked on the FIX button and it said:  "No problems were found for HP laserJet P1006"  and all checkmark circles are green. A small window pops up that states:   ""The HP Print Diagnostic Utility is not detecting any remaining issues.  Click PRINT A TEST PAGE to check your printer operation"".  I click to print, and a second window asks if I really want to print.  I say YES, but no printing takes place, the printer doesn't even attempt to print, though the light on the printer is green. So I click on RETEST I get the same behavior all over again.  ""No problems were found for HP laserJet P1006""  and all checkmark circles are green.  I try everything suggested by the HPPDU v4.1 and I find myself in a catch 22 situation,  so I do 2) next
    2)  I  go to  PRINTING PREFERENCES > SERVICES tab > PRINT INFORMATION PAGES >  select DEMO PAGE  >  PRINT button..............The printer then turns on,  and prints a perfect demo page of the printer.  I have tried to make this printer print through other programs and test pages etc. etc., but the Demo Page is the only thing it will print.  I'd appreciate any other suggestions.  Trebuchet candidate maybe?
    Thanks

  • Please help! Officejet Pro L7380 refusing to print

    Hi,
My officejet pro had a strange power outage (nothing else, computer etc affected) and since then has been flashing and displaying the message "The following printheads has a problem: magenta/cyan" and refuses to print.
I have used the HP diagnostic tool which did not find any problems. I have also restarted both the computer and the printer as well as removing the cartridges and replacing them.
    Please help!

    Hello ghwhy,
It could be that the printheads needs to be reseated or replaced. Follow this document in order to clean and reseat the printheads:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01446637&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3198092&tmp...
Remember that it's important to let the carriage move all the way to the left of the printer before you remove the printheads. If it doesn't move when you open the lid of the printer, just press and hold the OK button for a few seconds.

  • New MacPro refuses to print

    Hi guys,
my newly purchased MacPro is refusing to print over the network at my office. We have several Canon copiers, and HP printers, as well as a BestColor Rip powering 2 epson 9600s. For the life of me i can't seem to get this machine to print to any of them. Looking at Cups i see a series of "The process "fierycupsfilter" terminated unexpectedly on signal xx" errors everytime i send something.
I've tried the standard, including permission repairs, reseting the printing system, and have also tried the workaround that fixed the intel imacs, which was to copy the /use/libexec/cups/filter/fierycupsfilter from an older (PPC) machine over to the new box. All to no avail, as i still cannot print.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try? While printing from this machine is not essential (it's the AV production machine), it's incredibly annoying.
TIA for any guidance you may have.

Can you tell us what protocols (LPD, IPP, etc?) you've tried? Are they all postscript printers? When you ADD in printer setup, does it find the model (which means it finds a PPD)?
If you tried LPR or IPP, did you enter the printer/RIP's internal queue name in Printer Setup?

  • Multiply filter in illustrator with a 2 color job-pdf and print issues?

    Hi,
Encountering a tricky problem and not sure if its an InDesign fix or an Illustrator fix.
I am working on a 2 color job—pms color + black on a book cover. The cover needs to seperate into these 2 colors.
Also, I need to make a high res and lowres pdf that look like the cover to send out to marketing, sales etc.
    WHAT's THE PROBLEM?...
Well, I am creating a collage with black ink vector graphics on top of the pms background. I created this art in illustrator CS3. it is saved as an .eps file. The illos were done by someone who used a white fill to knock out black areas. There is also a wide 50% grey outline around the illustration.
I like the idea of the line of the illo being black and the fill being red so that it looks seethrough on the red background. But the 50% grey outline causes a problem...I'd like the 50% outline to blend with the red color, so instead of appearing like there is white in the ink it overprints.
The only way I could think of (and quickest way) was to apply the multiply filter in illustrator to the vector illo. This seemed to work great.
I brought the illo into InDesign CS3 where I created my cover layout.
Looks great, Prints great. Separations appear to be good, although it shows the yellow, cyan, and majenta layer they appear to be blank, so I think it will seperate nicely into 2 plates–PMS + black.
BUT, when I make a pdf, using "smallest file size" or using "high quality print", the pdf it makes does not show the illustrations in the collage. They are kind of beige and dulled out. The publisher needs pdfs too.
Does this at all indicate that this job will not print correctly using this multiply filter, or is it all well and good final product wise, but its just an issue making the pdf? I am slightly nervous I am going to send this off to the printer and they will have some issue.
I am a professional designer of 10 years with lots of print experience, but I have never used multiply in illustrator so I just want to make sure there is no rule against doing this I should know about. Does multiply at all mess with the color separations or is it fine? And how do I get my pdf to come out right? I'm hoping there's some dumb thing I'm forgetting, or a simple fix.
Thanks for any insight you may have!
    L.

If you don't feel comfortable using Multiply you might want to communicate with the printer and ask if this is an issue for them to reproduce correctly. Some printers using older rips may have issues with transparency. If you can't speak directly with your printer you could mark up the file or make a PDF to accompany the working file with your comments about what prints at what percentage, and if it should overprint or knockout. Years ago I would get a file with transparency in it and have to make sure the designers intent was clear. This was in some cases due to the designer not understanding blend modes or what he/she wanted overprinting or knocking out in the printed piece. The other way you can confirm the separations are going to rip correctly is to print a PDF out of Indesign and open it in Acrobat pro. Under Advanced>Print Production>Output Preview you can turn on and off separations for the 2 spot colors in question. Because PDF acts as your rip in this case you should be seeing what separations your printer will be printing using your native Indesign file. Some print shops will require you to provide a PDF or a color laser print out for QA of your printed piece when sending files to prepress.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Why does my B8550 keep refusing to print saying I don't have the right paper/paper size?

I have never been so frustrated with a printer.  I have never tried using it for making pictures without having problems.  I buy HP paper and the printer still refuses to print...I get the message that I have the wrong paper or wrong paper size.  Even if I use the option "other photo paper" to try to avoid the sensor in the printer to determine what paper is being used, I still get the same message.  And I've checked and rechecked...the paper size I'm programming the printer for is the same size paper I have in the printer.
I have a pavilion g series laptop with Windows 7 64-bit operating system.  I went to the hp site to download the printer drivers.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Do you back up to iCloud?  I'm assuming so since you asked about purchasing more storage.
Check Settings > General > Usage on your iPhone and see if you really need everything you're keeping there.

  • IMac refuses to print to network

My late 2009 21.5 inch iMac running OS X Lion 10.7.5 refuses to print to either of two printers on an ethernet network.
In the printing window, it goes through "Looking for printer" and "Connecting to Printer", the progress bar turns blue - but nothing more happens. The printer error log says "the printer is not responding".
Other Macs on the same network print fine.
Here are some of the things I have tried:
. Reinstalled printer software (a Brother HL-5370DW mono laser and Epson Stylus Photo TX810FW)
    . Reset printing system
. Reset Brother printer (worked for a day on this iMac but not since, despite further resets)
. Installed completely new, clean system on a separate partition.
. On the network, changed switches, swapped over ethernet cables etc - can see other Macs and transfer files fine, just not print.
. Connected Brother direct to iMac via USB - prints fine.
Is there something else I can try? Could this be a hardware problem - obviously iMac is out of warranty/Applecare? Is there a way to reset ethernet port? I don't know what to try next, and am at the end of my tether having wasted far too much time on this without a solution...

Hmmm... I don't know the printers. One was an old one which printed fine for months (still prints from an old laptop) and the new one is an HP-printer that prints very well on the iMac from which it was borrowed cables and all. (I live appr. 700 km away so I don't always know all the details).
    Anyway, the computer is an:
    2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    128MB VRAM
    1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x512
    250GB Serial ATA Drive
    SuperDrive 8X (DVDR-DL/CD-RW)
    which still runs Tiger.
Different ports were tried and as far as I know the technician reinstalled the system but maybe returned all the old settings which reinvited the old fault unless it's a hardware thing.
I have fowarded the information above so it will be tried and if nothing changes I think she will try and wipe the disc with a completely new installation tonight, just in case. I told her to install the printer first to see what happens and only then install other things and set things up etc.
I'll be back here soon as I know what happened next.

  • Acrobat reader DC refuses to print

I have a new installation of windows 8.1.  Have just installed Adobe Acrobat reader DC.
    However
    1) It takes ages to load (some times 30 seconds)
    2) When I give it a pdf it shows it, but the print option takes ages to appear (rendering for ages - again c30 seconds)
    3) I press print - Absolutely nothing happens!!!!
Yet my old installation on a different laptop running W7 and reader x will quite happily print the same pdf of the same printer (Kyocera 5020).
    This is frustrating me enormously.
My wife's PC also refuses to print pdf documents fully using DC.  It will print only part of the background, but not the text.
Please help.  THis should be basic and simple but even re-installing it several times has not helped.
    Thanks

Try uninstalling and then re-installing. The following script may help with a complete uninstall: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

  • Intel iMac refuses to print

Hello, last January I bought an iMac for my daughter-in-law. It worked fine. However a couple of weeks ago it printed... printed... stopped and refused to print any more. So she got a technician from an authorized Apple shop who took the computer away, seems to have reinstalled the system and got it to print again. The next day printing gave up again. The technician said he didn't know anything more.
Next she connected and installed a new hp-printer which her husband had got meanwhile and which prints fine on his iMac. Id does nothing on her iMac. She rang support and went through things with them for an hour and a half only to hear that they don't know anything more and she would have to reinstall the system from scratch. I wonder what for if it didn't work for the technician.
So what now? Why don't they offer to look into it via warranty? The machine is less than a year old. What is she to do to get them to do something. She needs the iMac for business and can't really afford this fuss. Do they simply expect you to buy a new one? No... I'm not happy with Apple here. I bought 7 Apple computers in the last couple of years and myde my son buy one as well. And no problems so far. But this time... it is like running against a concrete wall. VERY ennoying.
    What would you do???

  • Photoshop refusing to print 2 specific files.

I'm using Photoshop CS4 and I have 2 files that refuse to print. Every time I try to print them I get the error "Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer." Photoshop WILL print other files or new files no problem but will always produce this error when I try to print these 2 files.
It is not a problem with printer drivers, or a problem with which printer is set as default as evident but the fact that every other program on the computer can print just fine and photoshop itself has no problem printing other pictures.

Copy/paste to a new file (probably stuck on print metadata for a printer not connected).
