IPrint Printer Policy - default printer

ZCM 11.2.3a
I seem to be getting some quirky reactions to my printer policy. I
created a policy with 4 iPrint printers and assigned it to a number of
workstations. I did not set a default printer because I want to leave
that up to the user. For some users the default keeps changing from
their desired default when they login each morning. How is this
supposed to work?

Check out TID 7014808 for more info. FYI the listed workaround didn't work
for us.

it 's show pdf file in browser if i want to print i must click printer icon on browser, but i want it to automatic print to printer immediate
    someone has solution.

Because the reports run on the server and not on the client machine, there really is no way to print to the client's default printer because the server has no way of knowing what this printer is.
You could create a user parameter with a list of the printers that are normally used and have the users select which printer you wanted the output sent to.

  • Printing to Default printer (it's wireless) goes to Queue in Printing Status but never prints.

My Photosmart D110a is connected wirelessly to my computer and I have it set as the Default printer running on Windows 7.  It prints fine from local apps like Word.  I've run the diagnostic utility and it is all good, all green check marks.  When I try to print from the web (like a coupon, for example), it goes to the print queue but is stuck there in 'Printing' status.  As I've been trying the troubleshooting steps, I've noticed that the Port is WSD and not an HP port.  Is this part of the problem?  Also, I used to have an HP Deskjet 5150 connected via USB and am wondering if it's getting confused by that somehow.  Would like to remove all references to the Deskjet but  I can't find a way to eliminate it.

From within Acrobat X Standard... or printing from Acrobat embedded in a web page...
We tell it to print to the windows default printer and it goes to the Adboe PDF printer... Print to File is NOT selected. A reboot momentarily fixes the problem.

  • Outlook 2007/2010 only prints to default printer

We use the following command to add network printers to XP PCs' (this saves each user of the PC having to find and install the network printer themselves)
    rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n\\machine\printer
This adds the printer for all users of the PC, however Outlook 2007/2010 only allows the user to print to the default printer, regardless of which printer the user selects.
When printing from Word/Excel or any other application the print goes to the selected printer.
Has anyone else had this problem, and found a solution, or know why Outlook only prints to default but other office applications print to other printers correctly ?
    Thanks
    Steve

I am having a similar issue to ferdz2013.
I am running terminal services on server 2008 R2.  This is in a domain environment, the user has permissions to the color printer in question and can print to it using Word and notepad.  However in Excel, it will not print to the color printer.
Even if I select the color printer as the default printer, it only prints to another BW printer.  In fact, there are .......
Well, as I was writing this, after troubleshooting it for an hour, it fixed itself.  I was going into his control panel to count the network printers installed (about 5) of which he could only choose from 2 in excel. Suddenly, he has only
two installed.  We can print to it, but we can't choose color now.
I believe this is a domain controller issue, where he is attached to one DC, and I am attached to a second DC, where I change the AD permissions.  It took an hour for them to exchange this information.
Just something else to think about.
Now I need to figure out why he can only select BW.

  • HP PhotoSmart C6380 will only print to default printer in Outlook

    Hello,
I hope you can help me figure this out.  We recently purchased a HP PhotoSmart C6380 for an employee here and we have encountered a strange problem.  If the printer is selected as default, then regardless of what printer we choose in Outlook only we can only print to that printer.  The last printer she had did not do this and it was an HP as well (although I can't remember the model).  Both printers were set up as network printers.  The difference is that on the previous printer we set it up by created a TCP/IP port and sharing that out to others.  This printer had a network option upon install, so I did it that way.
Anyone that is sharing this printer has the same problem.  If they want to print out any e-mail (does not matter if there are attachments) it will only go to this HP printer regardless.  We are using Office 2007 and I have done my research on it as well, and I can't find a common thread, since the last printer was also used to print within it, but had no problems choosing other printers.
The only thing I can come up with is the way I installed this printer.  We just had a network cable attached to it and had the software search for it and set it up in that fashion.  Again, I don't think it's Outlook 2007 because it only occurs with this particular printer, albeit only in that application.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
    Thanks,
    mtaffer

    Hi SportBilly15,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.   I understand that your Photosmart 6510 is not printing black ink correctly.
I have included the Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems document. It will take you through several trouble shooting steps to correct the issue.

  • Gmail mail will not print using default printer.

When I click on "print" to print out an email, I must reset the printer to be used each time as Gmail is not recognizing the printer that is set as my default printer.

Firefox doesn't use the System default printer as its default printer. In Firefox the "last used" printer is used as the "default printer".
If you're on a network, Firefox may not remember the last used as the default all the time. Laserjet printers that have gone to "sleep" or into energy-saving mode seem to be problematic as being remembered as the "last used", even in non-network situations, when you have multiple printers connected.

  • Print to Default Printer

We want to provide the ability to be able to print all PDF documents directly to default printer to users . That is when users click on Print button they should not be shown the print options/preferences dialog box.
Is it possible to setup the print button on PDF to by pass the print options dialog box? Please advise

  • How to make Firefox reset printing to Default Printer and Settings at Startup

Earlier versions of Firefox and most Windows programs that I know of, start by using the default printer with default settings. If you change them, they stay changed for that session, but once you close the program and re-start it, you are back to a clean slate. V3.6 of Firefox now remembers settings such as portrait/landscape, zoom settings, etc. I find myself throwing out paper because I zoomed in on a certain document on Friday, then on Monday inadvertently print 20 pages of a normal page because Firefox remembered the zoom and I forgot about it. I would hate to HAVE to do a print preview EVERY time I printed because I couldn't count on the default settings. Thanks for your help.

Here's a great link with a fix that worked for me.

  • NI Reports print function default printer behaviour

Just an FYI... Using the NI Reports Print Report.vi without wiring the printer name does not always work as expected at least for Excel. If you do the following with an Excel worksheet:
    1) Print to "Printer1"
    2) Print to "" (default)
The second printer operation will print to "Printer1" because it is now set as the 'Active Printer' in the open Excel workbook.
The Print Report.vi does not actually write the name of the default printer to the Excel _Print.vi PrintOut method. It passes an empty string, so Excel will print with the current active printer which may or may not be the default printer.
The Print Report.vi documentation should probably be changed to reflect that passing an empty string to the 'printer name (default)' terminal will not print to the default printer in all cases.

That is all good information - and all information which I already know and which does not answer my question.
The issue that I am having is that Safari and Safari alone is ignoring the printer setting. Could be something in the Safari plist file or somewhere else in Safari that is not working correctly - or at least I am assuming that it is a problem that Safari is not doing what it is supposed to for some reason - rather than Safari deliberately being programmed to ignore the system pref for printer setting.

  • HP Photosmart 5514 e-All-in-One Printer - B111h (Default Printer)

Trying to print a medicine list from "Documents"; printer makes lots of noise before trying to print and when it comes out of the printer, it's only a partial list. I printed something the other day and everything was fine. I've tried to pinpoint the problem and can't find a solution. I've not used it that much and I've only had it a few months. Does anyone have any ideas as to what has happened?

    Hello educate89,
Please perform the below steps ....
    Power Off the Printer .
Unplug the Power cord from back of the printer .
Wait for 30 seconds, then Plug in the Power cord and Power On the Printer.
Touch on the Right Arrow and select "SETUP".
    Then touch on Tools.
    Then touch on Clean Printhead
Now try printing , it should work.
Note : You may have  to perform step 6 for 2 times if issue still persists.

Can anybody shed some light on these errors. Especially the User daemon not found error.
We are running ZCM 10.3.1. Clients are WinXP SP3, most of them having the ZCM 10.3.0 agent on them.
    Thanks!

I have three labs on the 2nd floor. Students need to be able to print to all the printers in each lab just to be flexible in case there is a printer problem. However, each lab required that its printer be the default. So yes I created two printer policies for each printer that needed to be a default printer for one of the labs. But I'm not having nearly the amount of difficulty with getting them to work.
I believe there is a setting on the printer policy that will remove all other printers except for the ones delivered from ZEN. So that might be an option for.
I was frustrated, at first, that I couldn't have more than one printer per policy at times, but my current work around is really not so bad.
I end up with 7 printer policies to handle the 4 printers in three labs. However, because they are all single printer policies, it is pretty obvious exactly what is being assigned without having to drill down into the policy itself. It makes it really simple to see what the printer setup is then for the dynamic groups we use for the labs or for an individual workstation. So it has actually grown on me quite a bit. Here is how mine are laid out for just this snippet of our environment. Most of the other labs only have one printer to deal with so this is really the only mildly complex setup.
    Lab 200 - Printer200 (default), Printer210, Printer211, Printer211color
    Lab 210 - Printer210 (default), Printer200, Printer211, Printer211color
    Lab 211 - Printer 211 (default), Printer200, Printer210, Printer211color
It is going to get a lot more complicated when we start rolling through faculty and staff, but I think I'm going to take the same approach. Every printer gets at least one printer policy object. If a printer needs to be a default printer for someone then it will get a new printer policy that is set to make it the default.
As I think through our printing environment, this approach may actually use less printer policies than setting up a printer policy with multiple printers for every situation. There will be far more re-use of the individual policies than there would be for multiple printer policies. I think at the very least it would be a wash between the two options.
