IPS license for SA540 gateway

Hi
We have just purchased a license L-PL-GW-100MAX-3= ProtectLink Gateway: Unlimited Web + 100 Max Email Seats,3YR
I found that it does not include IPS license. I cannot find anywhere where I can purchase an IPS license for SA540 gateway. It seems to be available only as a bundled product when purchasing the hardware. Can anyone help please?
Cheers
Paul

  • Problem activating IPS license on SA540

    Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with the activation of the IPS license for a SA540 firewall. I've tried both methods: License Code PAK from Cisco.com and License File downloaded from Cisco.com but it doesn't work.
It seems that the .lic file that I received by email is damaged or something like that.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks, regards.
    José Naranjo

Hi Jose, most likely the problem is the platform entry for the PAK. You need to call the SBSC to escalate to GLO (global licensing).

    Hello, Ahmed.

  • IPS license for ASA5525

We purchased an ASA5525-K9 and would now like to add IPS functionality to the firewall.  i believe i need part# L-ASA5525-IPS-SSP=.  What happens to the smartnet?  From all the reading i've done, we need to add SU1 type support for the Sensor license/signiture updates.  How is this accomplished?  Will i receive credit for the smartnet support?  The partner doesn't seem to have a clue

  • IPS Services for ASA5512-X

Hi, I already have an ASA5512-X and would like to implement IPS. I'm aware of the license needed, however I cannot find anything that says if I need the subscription service. The IPS bundle says it includes the service, but there seems to be a contract number for the 5512-X IPS service. Do I need to purchase the IPS Services or will the IPS license include as such.
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

Are you asking if the IPS portion can be enable with out a subscription?
I am not sure if this answers your question but the 5512-x that I manage was purchased with the CX/IPS license for x-years of updates.
If it makes a difference I also used to manage a 5510 with the IPS module with no subscription. It always bothered me because that is like running an antivirus software with no updates.

  • Renewal license for ASA5512-IPS-K9

    Hi sir,
our customer purchased ASA5512-IPS-K9 from one year, all he want to do is to make a renewal the IPS license and signature update, my question, is any additional license should i offer except the CON-SU1 for the previous model number

The CON-SU1 line item will cover everything necessary for the base unit Smartnet support and IPS subscription services on an 8x5xNBD basis.
Please see this reference for more details.

  • Licensing for Remote Desktop Gateway

    Hello
I searched a lot on several forum to gain an answer to my question. There is a lot of misunderstanding out there on the need for licensing for the Remote Desktop Gateway.
I want to implement only the server role Remote Desktop Gateway for 20 users to connect remote to Window 7 computers in the LAN. The 20 remote users initiate the connection from they're own Windows 7 Laptop. The connection is:
    Windows 7 --- Remote Desktop Gateway --- Windows 7
The remote users use software for production environments (PLC/DCS) on the Windows 7 computers in the LAN. So in this situation the remote users will not connect to session host servers (terminal servers). They only use the gateway to act as a proxy for
RDP connections to the Windows 7 PC's in the LAN.
What kind of licensing do i need for this situation?
    Do i need RDCAL's?
Do i need Windows server device CAL's for the 20 devices of the 20 users that initiate the connection to the gateway?
    Thanks

One other option you could consider, which is free, is to use 1 public IP address with 20 ports that NAT's and Port Forwards to the 20 internal computers.
    Example:
If you have 1 available public IP address (let's say 1.2.3.4), and you assign static IP addresses (192.168.0.201 - .220) to the 20 internal computers, the firewall would NAT:
    1.2.3.4:50001 -> 192.168.0.201:3389
    1.2.3.4:50002 -> 192.168.0.202:3389
    1.2.3.4:50003 -> 192.168.0.203:3389
    1.2.3.4:50020 -> 192.168.0.220:3389
This way, remote users would connect directly to their computer without the need for any additional licenses.
    Just a thought.

  • How to upload the IPS image on SA540?

    Hi Expert,
I've downloaded the IPS image file from Software Download Center, I'm wondering how to upload it to my SA540?
The SBIPS image file comes with .bin extension.
    Truely,
    Eric

    As stated here: https://www.myciscocommunity.com/docs/DOC-13152
There will be a firmware update soon that will support IPS signatures.
However, in order to activate the IPS feature, you will need to purchase an IPS license SKU.
The IPS license is valid for 1 year.

  • Ips license renew

    thank you

    Hi,
You can check the license status on IDM/IME on home page. Or using 'show version' in IPS CLI.
Check this for understanding the procedure to obtain license:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/6.0/configuration/guide/cli/cliObtSW.html
In case you've never purchased the license, you will need to contact your Cisco reseller.

Licensing is not yet enforced. In the near future it will be required to get sig-updates.
    See excerpt from the readme:
    IPS SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE LICENSE
You must have a valid maintenance contract per sensor to receive and use
software upgrades, including signature updates from Cisco.com. Beginning with
IPS 5.0, an IPS Subscription Service License is required to install signature
    updates.
You can request an IPS Subscription Service License for all sensors covered by a maintenance contract at this URL:
    http://www.cisco.com/go/license
To manage your maintenance contracts use the Service Contract Center found at this URL:
    http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/front.x/scccibdispatch?AppName=ContractAgent
With the initial release of 5.0, the first several signature updates will be
released without the license enforcement to allow you time to get your
maintenance contracts in order and your sensors licensed.
    Hope this helps.
    -Mario

  • IOS IPS license

Does anyone know if I need to buy a license for the IPS signature update of IOS routers. Thanks,

Yes. You need to buy a license for the IPS signature update of IOS routers. For direct purchases this is included in SmartNet contract price for a given router.
Partners can also purchase Cisco Services for IPS contract (signature update license) separately.

  • SA520 - IPS license installing

    Hi everybody,
I'm installing a new SA520 and when try to install IPS license (Administration --> License management --> Install), I get always same message
"License installation failed for more details please see event logs".
I have tried using "License Code (PAK) from cisco.com:" option as well as "License File downloaded from cisco.com:" option (I got .lic file with 'Cisco Software License Activation Key' email received days ago), with sames results.
Any 'idea what should I check out?
    Thanks.

    First check this:
IPS Status: Displays the IPS Signatures status including the IPS license expiration date, the signature file version, and the date that the security device last checked for signature updates.
    -    Click the View IPS Logs link to view the IPS log messages. To display messages generated by IPS, you must choose IPS as the facility. For more information see Active Users, page 213 on admin guide.
Once you've checked that.. try these instructions again and let me know if it worked:
For an IPS license, select one of these installation methods from the Install License page:
    •    Installation License Type
    -    License Code (PAK) from cisco.com: Automatically retrieves and installs the license on the device from the Cisco server. To use this option, enter your PAK ID and Cisco.com username and password. These credentials are required for the device to authenticate to the Cisco server.
Make sure that the security appliance is set to the current time, or the license will not install properly. See Configuring the Time Settings, page 184.
    -    License File downloaded from cisco.com: Installs a license that was previously downloaded to your PC.
    •    Select Transfer File: If the license file is located on your PC, or on a USB device, you can download it to the security device. Click Browse to locate and select the license file.
After you finish entering the information in the required fields, click Validate License. Click Back to return to the License Management page.
