Ips license renew

I have 2 ips license of cisco asa and one of them i has been used but i dont know which one has been used so how could i know which one used, what is the validity period and how could i update license if required please try to provide me each and every step of detail process ?

You can check the license status on IDM/IME on home page. Or using 'show version' in IPS CLI.
Check this for understanding the procedure to obtain license:

In case you've never purchased the license, you will need to contact your Cisco reseller.

License Renewal on ASA5520-AIP-K9

Dear Team,
One of our clients have their ASA5520-AIP-K9 License expired.
I am doing license renewal for the first time and would like to have an opinion if this is the correct way.
I will download the signature update E4 Signature Update S773 (IPS-sig-S773-req-E4.pkg) from Cisco website and install it on both the Firewalls. I have also attached the snapshot of Firewalls at Primary and Back up sites.
Please let me know if I am missing anything.

How do I download ASA5500 IPS license file?

Our Management Provider is requesting for ASA5500 IPS license file to be uploaded to our ASA. We have already renewed our firewall contract with Cisco. Is this not automatic?

As long as your service contract is properly associated with your ASA and it has the "IPS" in the covered part number, the entitlement is included.
There's no separate license or activation key to use. Signature updates happen by virtue of the ASA serial number being registered with Cisco.
Note that the End of Sales / End Of Life announcement for all the legacy IPS products was put out in October 2014. No new purchases will be sold after next April. Customers are encouraged to move to the ASA with Firepower services Sourcefire technology).

Dear Haris,
Currently there's no limit and no fee for license renewals. In the past, license renewal had been stopped for some time though, which made a lot of people in this board very unhappy, but hopefully this won't happen again...

Problem activating IPS license on SA540

Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with the activation of the IPS license for a SA540 firewall. I've tried both methods: License Code PAK from Cisco.com and License File downloaded from Cisco.com but it doesn't work.
It seems that the .lic file that I received by email is damaged or something like that.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Jose, most likely the problem is the platform entry for the PAK. You need to call the SBSC to escalate to GLO (global licensing).

Licensing renewal for CS4

I currently have CS4 and tried to load this onto my new mac 10.9.5 Mavericks. The indesign component won't open, error 5. Says the licensing has expired. When I go to download the licensing renewal the new computer doesn't trust the source even though its Adobe says I have to go through app store. Can someone direct me to a link that will work so I can use indesign on my new computer. Photoshop and illustrator works ok.
Alternatively I could upgrade to CS6 is there somewhere I can do this with minimal cost as I am a student?

Ok, I think video tutorials are best. They take no more than 3-10 minutes of your time, and you can replay then if you missed anything.
Lynda.com has the best. if you afford a subscription, you have access to the full library.
So lets start with the Finder (10.7 but still good) and when you are done, there are Mavericks related tutorials in the list to the right.

After this basic one, you can decide what else you want to learn.

C891 advipservices IPS license problem

Hi forumers'
my C891 router IOS is using 15.1 adipservices, which shoudl have IPS and misc security features
my question is
1. IPS license status is not installed
i able to load the IPS signature into the box. would this causing the IPS not running on my router?
2. ios-ips-update enable is NO
what should i do in order to make this running? is it involving licensing issue?
please suggest what to do in order to let IOS IPS running on the router, thanks

SA520 - IPS license installing

Hi everybody,
I'm installing a new SA520 and when try to install IPS license (Administration --> License management --> Install), I get always same message
"License installation failed for more details please see event logs".
I have tried using "License Code (PAK) from cisco.com:" option as well as "License File downloaded from cisco.com:" option (I got .lic file with 'Cisco Software License Activation Key' email received days ago), with sames results.
Any 'idea what should I check out?

First check this:
IPS Status: Displays the IPS Signatures status including the IPS license expiration date, the signature file version, and the date that the security device last checked for signature updates.
-    Click the View IPS Logs link to view the IPS log messages. To display messages generated by IPS, you must choose IPS as the facility. For more information see Active Users, page 213 on admin guide.
Once you've checked that.. try these instructions again and let me know if it worked:
For an IPS license, select one of these installation methods from the Install License page:
•    Installation License Type
-    License Code (PAK) from cisco.com: Automatically retrieves and installs the license on the device from the Cisco server. To use this option, enter your PAK ID and Cisco.com username and password. These credentials are required for the device to authenticate to the Cisco server.
Make sure that the security appliance is set to the current time, or the license will not install properly. See Configuring the Time Settings, page 184.
-    License File downloaded from cisco.com: Installs a license that was previously downloaded to your PC.
•    Select Transfer File: If the license file is located on your PC, or on a USB device, you can download it to the security device. Click Browse to locate and select the license file.
After you finish entering the information in the required fields, click Validate License. Click Back to return to the License Management page.

Ips license error

i have sa520 and i cannot validate the license i have downloaded from cisco ( i have a xxxxxxxx.lic file)
when i choose validate i have error <license installation falied> below is the log files

IPS license for SA540 gateway

Hi
We have just purchased a license L-PL-GW-100MAX-3= ProtectLink Gateway: Unlimited Web + 100 Max Email Seats,3YR
I found that it does not include IPS license. I cannot find anywhere where I can purchase an IPS license for SA540 gateway. It seems to be available only as a bundled product when purchasing the hardware. Can anyone help please?

Signature upgrade while IPS licensed expired

Dear All,
I have IDSM-2 module in 6513 switch. One IPS licensed is expired. Other IPS licensed is still valid to 2 months.
Can I still upgrade the signature of this expired(licensed) IPS?

Will updating my IPS license on a 5520 interrupt traffic?

I need to update my IPS licenses and didn't know if doing this would cause a traffic interruption or require a reboot to the IPS? Thanks, Tony

So I have 2 IPS modules to update the license on, one with a current license that will expire in November, and one that doesn't have a license at all, to which I have been assigned a trial license until Cisco completes the license agreement and assigns the permanent one.
Either way, I can either update or apply the trial license without interrupting traffic?
Also, when an updated signature is applied, does that affect traffic?

I have CISCO ASA with IPS20. I am installing the IPS. Initially I registered the IPS. I didn't received PAK along with the Device. I registered online. It is okay now.
Do I have to renew this every year to get the signatures, like how we do for CSC Modules?

The signature license is included as part of the Cisco Service for IPS Maintenance Contract. The signature license will have the same expiration date as the contract.
So you will have to continue to renew your Cisco Service for IPS Maintenance contracts. With each renewal you can then get a new license with the new expiration date.
If you purchased your ASA and AIP-SSM (the IPS SSM) as a bundle, then a single Cisco Service for IPS Maintenance Contract will cover the ASA hardware/software, the IPS hardware/softare, and the IPS Signature license.
NOTE: Since ASA hardware/software will be covered by this contract you won't need a SmartNET contract for the ASA.
If you purchased your ASA and AIP-SSM as separate purchases (the AIP-SSM purchased as a spare), then you will need to purchase 2 contracts.
A SmartNET contract to cover the ASA hardware/software, AND a Cisco Service for IPS Maintenance Contract to cover the IPS hardware/software, and IPS signature license.
