IPS shows Memory usage 80 % is that normal ?

Hi there.
I have a 2 5525x configured as active/standy and bot IPS modules configured with defaults there is no internet connection to them and no traffic passing thru , but IPS show memory usage 80% is that normal ?

Could be, every environment is different when it comes to IPS. It all depends on what signatures you have configured and tuned.

Good luck finding the solution. I have another posting https://discussions.apple.com/message/25145839#25145839 on this exact same issue, and that is after looking on my own for the solution on the web and on Apple's forum without any luck for a real solution. Having to RESET a device every time I need to clear out old messages from memory sounds to me like an intended pain from Apple to keep pushing iPhone users to purchase additional iCloud backup plans.

  • Memory Usage Issue - T400

    Hello,
I got my T400 in this morning and facing a small issue with the memory usage. I ordered the laptop with Windows Vista Biz. 64bit
The memory usage at the start up is above 1.3GB. Is that normal?
I am using a desktop PC where the memory usage did not hit 900MB (I am using Windows Vista Ult. 64bit).

    Hi, everyone
I got a new t440p 20ANA00UHH (8GB RAM, win8 64bits) about one week ago. It works really well, but its memory usage  confused me. In Task Manager, the "Performance" option shows memory is 68% (5.4G in use), but "Users" option shows memory usage 66% (1019.5M in use). Is that normal ? I just opened some websites and word files.

  • WinXP and Vista memory usage with Illustrator CS2 - is Vista winning?

    Dear forum.
I have an AI-template file where I insert some very large PNG files into it, modifies the template a bit and then I print the the resulting document in PS-format. The PNG files may be as large as 100 MB (24-bits, approx. 100 mil. pixels in total). It appears that while a Vista-based machine has no problem loading one or even two copies of these huge files into memory, a WinXP-based machine can't even load a single file into memory. Instead, I a dialog box with the message: "Could not read the file because the plug-in could not understand this file". Is it really a faulty plug-in or is it just CS2's way of saying "not enough memory" in a quirky way?
All in all, I would like to hear whether someone has the same experience with Vista, ie. it seems to be better at memory management or better at allocating memory for Illustrator CS2, enabling it to load large PNG files.
The specifications of the WinXP-based machine:
    Pentium 4 2.6 GHz
    3 GB RAM
Virtual memory 4095 MB in a physically separate drive from the OS disk
All Visual Effects are turned off
Has Illustrator CS2, Adobe Acrobat 7 and Distiller installed (and a few auxilliary programs)
The specifications of the Vista-based machine:
    Dell OptiPlex 740SF
    AMD x2 5000 (2.6 GHHz)
    2 GB RAM (667 MHz, 2 x 1 GB)
    250 GB SATA disk
    Windows Vista
Adobe Creative Suite 2 Standard + Adobe Creative Suite 3
    Thanks!

  • Massive memory leak when using Google (normal search, inactive, but logged into Google+)

Firefox has massive memory usage in recent times (runs up to over 3GB on Win7x64HP). I was not sure until now what caused it, since I have the browser open in the background most of the time. Commonly open pages are facebook, some news site (containing flash ads) and some other stuff for doing research. And Google - of course.
Normally I killed Firefox completely whenever I recognized the memory usage was way above normal, but this time I just kicked the google tab and (after 2mins of HDD action) the mem usage dropped by 2GB! I have no idea what causes this, but the rise of allocated mem is always very slowly and seems to build up over the day (2-3 times stand-by or hibernation included). I also just realized that the google tab keeps cpu usage of FireFox constantly by around 2%. An important side note: FF automatically logs on to Google+, maybe that's one of the reasons.
Has anyone the same issues? Is it rather a the fault of FF or Google? Will try surfing with Extensions deactivated the next days to see if the behavior continues...

If you go to ''about:memory'' in the location bar you may find some of the info there of use, explanatory notes appear on mousover. It will help you figure out where the memory is going to.
    * see also [[high memory usage]]
Some of the developers have been trying recently to improve how firefox uses memory, and have recently added ''about:memory'' as a diagnostic feature.
Using 3GB of memory for firefox is obviously abnormal, however some sites you use may be fairly intensive. It does often take quite a bit of effort to track down such problems, but sometimes new problems are identified and then fixed: either problems with firefox, or with specific sites or software.

  • Get Memory Usage

I need a suggestion for a light weight tool that will show the memory usage and also that can tell me which components are using more memory than others. I tried using JProfiler from my server but it is so slow to display the GUI on my machine. Something that's fast and good.

I was finally able to connect remote session to local JProfiler. Java app runs on HP box. Now after running my code through the profiler I see that only 200 MB of heap space is being utilized but when I run top command I see 200 MB of RES space and total size is 1 GB. I tried to look at profiler but can't see where it's using extra 800 MB of memory. This application extracts blob and then encrypts them and writes to the file system. There are 4 threads that extract different kind of data.

  • Unnaturally high cpu and memory usage

    Hello.
I have installed WL 6.1 and WL Portal 4.0 on a w2k machine. It has a
    800 cpu (I think), and 512 RAM.
What happens is: After server startup, everything is low and nice. But
after a few jsp compilations, the cpu jumps to 100% and stays there,
even after the page has been returned and the browser says "done".
Actually, memory usage isn't that high; the java process is using
about 50 megs of memory. But it has exceeded this a couple of times,
    and used 200+ MB.
The database is also running on another machine.
I tried deploying the same application on a locally installed
WL/Portal, and the same thing happened, only with much more memory
usage, about 200 - 250 megs. My machine became useless, and I had to
    shut down the server.
What is causing this? Is the server's configuration totally screwed,
or can some code be doing this? Btw, I know I am the only user on this
    server...
On other threads here, I have seen people supplying server dumps of
processes etc. How do I see this dump, or what processes within the
    server are running?
I am very grateful for any help with this.
    Christer

Take a thread dump of the server. You should at least be able to see
    what it's doing.
On UNIX, you can send a SIGQUIT. (ie kill -3 the process)
On Windows, you can CTRL-BREAK in the window.
If you search for thread dump on edocs.bea.com, you should see a full
    explanation.
Also, these groups can be searched on groups.google.com.

  • Permission problems in my newly installed hard drive from iMac 1 TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program. Is that normal?

Just got back my iMac with a brand new replacement hard drive through the iMac 1 TB Seagate Hard Drive Replacement Program. With only apps installed, no files and fonts added, the hard drive already shows permission problems. Is that normal? The replacement hard drive is a Seagate again, ST31000528BAS. Do people like their replacement hard drive?

Just now looking at these... Last recall 2009 MacbookPro Video issues, I waited 4 years and it took 4 trips to apple store with video of the machine problems... Days and months past, finally with stern discussion with manager, got resolved. Now Drive recall on work machine... better take advantage now. IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!
Should have thought of it... Have TM full back up... (will look into clone next time, now that I see this). Take in 27iMac running 10.6.8, 5-7 days, what a joke, my boss will be happy to pay for a week without working. Finally get, "if you have TM back up, 3 days." Get machine back with 10.6.3, hit the R recovery, click TM back up, runs for 2 hours, reboots, looks great. Box up take back to office... update to install - OH CRAP, still running 10.6.3. Updates crash with error on install, BUG PROBELM, nothing runs.
Call Apple... after hours, tells me to boot using 10.6.2 disk, wipe, reinstall OS, udate to 10.6.8, THEN do the restore. GREAT! Only thing 10.6.2 DVD won't read... now back on phone... take back to the store, Genius says, "Oh, can't boot a newer system w/ old disk, that's why it won't read." PROMISES it'll be fixed, if you leave it over night... GREAT!
Pick up next day, supposedly, booted to disk, wiped drive, reinstalled, updated to 10.6.8 and did the RIGHT restore... Looks GREAT... apps run and 10.6.8 OS. Back to the office... CRAP!! not running right... fonts messed up, drop box app needs new install, cocktail needs upgrade, Fetch not working, memorized paths gone... back ups locked out of permissions... ***!!
4 hours on phone with apple and still not solved. Evidently... either different account names caused problems... and/or they never restored personal "settings". Seems there are 3 ways to restor... Running Migration Assistant, Restoring after they load a new OS... or NOW WAITING for them to send me a bootable 10.6.3 disk and then boot from disk, w/o installing OS and doing a restore from TM.
Can begin to make enough stink!! So now can't back up without doing a full 400 GB back up and possibly destroying any good back ups... can't work, liek having hands tied behind back. WAITING for solution! TICKED OFF!!!

  • How to monitor memory usage of "Memory-based Snapshot" executable (MRCNSP)  in Linux?

We have noticed in the past that MRCNSP/Memory-based Snapshot program executable consumes around 3.8 GB of memory on the linux VM. I understand that value change planning  is 32 bit executable so 4 GB is the limit. I want to monitor the memory usage of the executable when the program runs. The program usually runs overnight. I wanted to check with you experts if you have any MRP executable memory usage monitoring script that I could use.
I found the metalink note OS Environment and Compile Settings for Value Chain and MRP/Supply Chain Planning Applications (Doc ID 1085614.1) which talks about "top -d60 >>$HOME/top.txt". Please share your ideas for monitoring this process.
We do not use Demand Planning or Demanta or Advanced Supply Chain Planning which are 64 bit application. That is our future direction.
    Environment:
EBS : R12.1.2 on Linux. The concurrent manager is on 64 bit linux VM, web services on 32 bit VMs.
DB: Oracle DB 11.2.0.3 on HP UX Itanium 11.31. Single database instance.

RAM on the controller is not the same as the C: drive. With respect to the controller, you can think of it in the same terms as your computer. RAM is volatile memory and your C: drive is non volatile flash memory.
Depending on the frequency of the temperature excursions above and below your 70C threshold, the service life of the controller and the method you used to append to the file, there could be a number of issues that may creep up over time.
The first, and the one you brought up is the size of the file over time. Left unchecked this file could grow continuously until the system literally runs out of flash memory space and chokes. Depending on how your are appending data to this file, you could also use more than a trivial slice of processor time to read and write this big file on disk. While I have not personally ever run one of the RT controllers out of "disk space", I can't imagine that any good could come of that.
One thought is to keep a rolling history of say the last 3 months. Each month, start a new file and append your data to it during the course of the month. Each time a new file is created, delete the data file from something like 3 months ago. This will ensure that you will always have the last 3 months of history on the system, however the monthly deletion of the oldest data file will limit you to say 3 files at whatever size they happen to be. Unless there are hundreds of thousands of transitions above and below your threshold this should keep you in good shape.
I also eluded to the method you use to write to this file. I would ensure that you are appending data using the actual file functions and not first reading in the file, appending your data as a string then writing the entire file contents back to disk. In addition to causing the highest load on the file system this method also has the largest system RAM requirements.

  • Big memory usage in NetStream

After some checking about our player memory usage - we descovered that when appendingBytes() into a netStream - it takes about 10-15 times the size (in Bytes) of the original video file from which we have read. Is there any way to lower this big memory consumption?
Moreover - is there any way to "dispose" the buffer that was already played by appendBytes()?
I tried to set inBufferSeek to false and maxBufferTime to 1. it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Define "huge memory". Oracle generally requires a couple of hundred Mb of RAM.
You can certainly change these services to start manually so long as you don't want your database to be running automatically.

  • Can I Control Memory Usage?

I'm starting a new project. The project now has only three camera files of about 24 minutes (1920x1080i mpeg2), a few short "resource" files, and three sequences (the multi, the target, and a short 10-sec intro), yet when I restart PremierePro CS4 I get the warning "Adobe Premiere Pro is running low on memory..."
The system has 12GB and uses Vista 64-bit. In the past I would see that warning only when the Project panel is filled with all sorts of stuff, but this project is just getting started.
I notice that already the Task Manager > Processes tab, Commit Size is 3,439,732K (it fluctuates slightly just sitting there while I type this), which is probably what triggered that warning.
Is there any thing I could be doing in Premiere, rearranging something or moving files around or whatever, to control memory usage to keep that Commit Size from being so large?

    1. Commit Size is a selectable column - from Task Manager choose View > Select Columns, then check Memory - Commit Size.
    2. Commit Size is (I believe for some reason, but can't defend) the address space allocated by the OS to the application, not the actual amount of physical main memory currently tied up by the application. The number of processes is not relevant because the OS performs paging. Since Premiere Pro CS4 is still a 32-bit application (I don't know what it means when people say "optimized for 64-bit") having a Commit Size of 3.4+ GB is approaching the PC 32-bit limit (after you subtract out the fixed addresses).
    3. I read about Eddie Lotter's first suggestion and it makes sense, but I haven't proved it yet.
    4. Just after my post PPro crashed; I sent in the crash message to Adobe, reloaded the project, and this time the Commit Size wasn't even 1GB!!! Yes, this was before I could try Eddie's suggestion.

  • IDS 4235 showing 98% memory usage, is it normal?

    IDS 4235 with 4.1.5.S191 showing
Using 908922880 out of 921522176 bytes of available memory (98% usage)
    Is it normal ?

There is a 4.x known bug where the memory usage is incorrect.
The actual memory usage number can be determined from the service account by entering the following command:
    bash-2.05a$ free
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 1934076 1424896 509180 0 18284 1214536
    -/+ buffers/cache: 192076 1742000
    Swap: 522072 0 522072
The "Mem:" row, "used" column is the amount of memory (in kilobytes) that
the "show version" command reports. However, this total includes the
    "cached" amount.
So in the above example, the actual memory used is ( 1424896 - 1214536 ), or
    210360 KB. This is ( 210360 / 1934076 * 100 ), or 10.9% of total memory.

I got my iPhone 4s screen fixed, now in my Photos it shows nothing, although in my memory usage it shows 10.5gb of photos, thats 2000  photos not showing up. What happened?! Where did all my photos go?!

WOOHOO!!! i finaly fixed the problem. Here is what to do:
Chances are if you did the same thing as me you either have
    A) No album names at all for ALL your songs in your library
    or
    B) Have the same name for every album for ALL your songs in your library.
Here is how to fix it (yah it will take a little work but its worth getting your iPod functioning properly).
Unless you dont want to have to go and actualy set al lthe album names for every song here is what you can do:
Go through to iTunes and arange your songs by Artist name. Click the top song for your first artist, hold Shift and click the last song for that same artist (to multi select all the songs for the artist) go into get info and check the Album box. Copy the name of the artist to the Album box and hit ok.
Now when u update your ipod and go into ur Artists section the actual Artist name should show up instead of the song names.
For some reason having the same album name for all your songs messes up the organization of the iPod.
Hope this helps anyone else that is having the same problem
