IPSEC Cisco VPN connection. Modifying default VPN gateway allows internet traffic but loses access to VPN

Hello!!
I'm using the IPSEC Cisco VPN Network property to connect to my company.
Once I get connected, I lose internet access, because all the traffic is redirected through the tunnel and I want both, of course.
If I modify the default getaway in the routing table, with this command
route change default x.x.x.x, where this is the getaway IP when not connected to the VPN,
I gain access to internet, but I lose access through the VPN tunnel.
I was reading about it in google, and what I have to do is to add a static route to the VPN again, but I don't know how.
Could you please help me?
thanks in advance!!

  • How can i use an existing vpn connection without using the option "Send all traffic over vpn connection"?

I have been trying to get my computer (os x.7) to astablish a remote desktop connection to my work computer via a vpn tunnel. In fact I have just discovered that it works fine if i select to "send all traffic over vpn connection" from the options in the advanced setup of the vpn.
If the option is selected microsofts "Remote desktop connection for mac" works just fine. However without selecting the option it is not taking advantage of the tunnel but tries to connect as if the tunnel would not exist.
Now the question is how do I get program to use the vpn tunnel without checking the above option?
Thanks for any hints and pointers.

Then can her computer be authorized to both accounts?
Absolutely. You can authorize any given computer to up to five iTunes Store accounts.
If purchases are made on her account, to a computer authorized to my account, can I put those songs on my iPod?
If you connect your iPod to her computer, yes. Tracks download only to the computer from which they're purchased, regardless of which iTunes Store account is used for the purchase. Or you could copy the tracks from her computer to yours and then authorize your computer to her iTunes Store account. But that's sort of defeating the original purpose, it would seem to me.
is it better to buy music through Amazon downloads and/or actually purchasing CDs to avoid the security features iTunes puts on its music?
That's certainly an option. If it's an entire album I want, I buy CDs. That way I can import them at the quality I want and to whichever of my systems I want. Amazon or one of the other download stores that offer tracks as MP3 are also an option, though for me download stores are best when you just want a couple of tracks off a given CD.

  • Does 2951 support VPN connectivity by default ?

Problem: I have an old 2851 with VPN module.
Currently, there are IPSEC crypto-connections in use that go through an EIGRP tunnel.
Showing crypto engine br I get: VPN Module (HW) status enabled.
Showing crypto maps, I see that there are leased some active ones.
Showing aaa: there are active sessions.
    According to the documentation here:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/routers/2900-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/data_sheet_c78_553896.html ,
The 2951 has embeded IPSec support.
The question is: Is a VPN additional module (3DS/AES encryption module) needed for the 2951 or will the connections work without it ?

    Hello.
It will work, but requires SEC/K9 license (and general image, not NPE):
    https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/routers/3900-series-integrated-services-routers-isr/qa_c67_606268.pdf
Also if you want to do IPSec for traffic rates higher than 85M unidirectional.

Hi. you definately have the same issue as i did. and it seems others do as well. after trying several things that didn't work. I had to shut down my mac, which is only a week old. upon restarting i had to hold down left command+R . In the top bar i had to select utilities. this is were i'm struggling to remember the intricases of the operation. i had to type  reset password as one word and  press enter. i cant rememember if i had to restart again or not! It brought up the box asking which language you wanted to use, chose english entered it. Again my recollection isn't good, not sure what happened next but it may have been one more box or my home screen. Entered my password went to itunes and logged in perfectly normal. I know this is a very sketchy version of events, and i wish i could recollect it in perfect step by step explaination. But having been on the phone for over an hour and trying so many different things , it became a bit of a muddle..
I also have an iphone and a windows pc on the same network, they were both able to log into and operate itunes correctly. so i knew it had to be my Mac..
    Good luck..

  • SonicWall SourceNAT VPN setup as default route for all traffic!

Hi,OK hope someone can help with this mess.....Our customer has been taken over by a US company who have said all outgoing internet traffic must go via their data centre. They want us to create an IPSEC vpn from our SonicWALL TZ215 to them then route all traffic locally via this VPN.In principle this didn't sound too bad. Then there were some more options:Our local subnet 172.x.x.x has to be NAT'd to a single /32 address. 192.x.x.131They also require our destination network to be set as 0.0.0.0. as they wont specify the range at the datacenter.I have managed to get the VPN up but using the the NAT address as my local subnet and using the option on the SonicWALL "Use this VPN Tunnel as default route for all Internet traffic" on the remote network. Phase 1 and Phase 2 work ok. The problem i now have is i need to route all LAN traffic...

  • Can I enable "Use default gateway on remote network" on VPN connection using Group Policy?

    Hi,
First timer here so please bear with me!
Environment: Domain Windows 2003, Clients: Windows 7 and Windows XP (with Client Side Extensions pushed out)
When creating a VPN connection on a client machine manually with default settings the "Use default gateway on remote network" found in [Connection Properties - Networking - IPv4 - Advanced] is enabled, which is good as we don't allow split-tunneling.
I have a test GPO that creates a new VPN Connection [Computer Config - Preferences - Control Panel - Network Options], but the above setting is unticked.
Am I missing something on the options for the GP preference to set this automtically?
I can write a script to directly change the C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk\rasphone.pbk file but would prefer if I could sort it all out using Group Policy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot!
    David

    Shane,
There is actually a way to set the "Use default gateway on remote network" through Group Policy Preferences. And this may even be a better way to do it, because you may change this flag without touching any other settings, or other VPN connections.
(All VPN connections are stored in the same .pbk file.)
Here's the trick: Opening the .pbk file in notepad, I realized that this is actually an oldstyle ini-structured file. And Group Policy Preferences can update ini files! In the .pbk file the section names are the VPN connections names, like [My VPN],
and the property IpPrioritizeRemote is the flag "Use default gateway on remote network".
So, in Group Policy Management Editor, go to Preferences / Windows Settings / Ini Files.
Create a new object with Action = Update, and File Path =
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Connections\pbk\rasphone.pbk
(If this is where your file is located, I guess it is in c:\users if the VPN connection is made for a single user.)
Section Name should be the display name of your VPN connection, without the brackets.
    Property Name = IpPrioritizeRemote
    Property Value = 1

    Peter :-)
This is great, but just one question. I also want to append a list of DNS Sufixes in order (when viewing a VPN properties, this is buried in
"Networking --> IPv4/6 --> Advanced --> DNS --> Append these DNS Suffixes (in order)". However, for the VPNs I have manually created with this list populated, I can't see any entries in the rasphone.pbk. Does anyone know
    where these are stored?
    Cheers.

    1) Note that I do understand that external mail will not work when connected to the vpn, only internal mail
    2) When the vpn is connected, the following should work and both "do not work":
    a) When pointing to the proper proxy, the browser should display "external pages like google" and internal pages..
    b) And, internal imap mail should work - it does not
    3) on a windows machine in the same exact subnet/network vpn works fine...?
    4) Also, I have had vpn working with ubuntu 9.1x just previously in the same exact subnet/network!
    5) ==> Something is not letting the vpn communicate "after" it is connected on the OEL 5 server ?
    Thanks...

  • Unable to access local resources or RDP over VPN Connection

    Dear Tech People.
I have a Windows 7 computer that I have created a VPN service through Windows on.  I am able to connect to the VPN from outside of my network with my Macbook Air.  However, I am unable to connect to the computer via RDP, nor can I ping my PC that
I am VPN'd into (192.168.1.252).  When I am connected, the IP address that I am assigned, is 192.168.1.150.  When I run ipconfig /all, I can see the "RAS < Dial In> Interface for VPN, and it is setup with an ip address of 192.168.1.151
with a /32 subnet mask.  There is no default gateway listed, which is why I believe that this is not working.  I cannot determine any way to make this change.
Basically, I have a VPN connection that I can do nothing with.  I cannot access shared resources, nor can I start a remote desktop session.  The pass through is setup for PPTP with my router, which I believe is working, as I couldn't even connect
prior to this.  Below is the full results of my ipconfig /all command on my Windows PC:

  • Fed up with VPN connection failures

Cant get a brand new laptop with built in wireless to get a VPN connection with a BEFW11s4 router. Internet is fine. An older laptop works fine. This new labtop even works beautifully with a wireless adapter, not the built in.
Called Linksys tech support line and they wouldnt even check anything. Basically dismissed me and said its the computer (did I mention is brand new??)Now I read all the problems people are having with VPN and their routers and I cant believe they lied to me.
(Mod note: Edited post. Non-technical content. Thanks!)

What do you use for the VPN connection? IPSEC? If you only are using the passthrough function on the router, it can only allow 1 IPSEC session at a time. If you are also using other VPN softwares for that, you may need to open up ports 1723 500 50 51 and 47. This is because your router firewall maybe the cause. Try that first on a static IP for that wireless card. Try to also check if the "wired " connection to your VPN works before going wireless, you would need to do this first regardless of any brand of router...ayt?!

I can use the VPN on my Android phone and Windows 8 computer with their default settings.
The router used is TP-LINK WR841N.  I also tried to make the VPN connection throgh a Windows XP guest in my Virtualbox, but I get a 619 ERROR.

    Hi,
I don't want to sound sarcastic but why didn't you try moving to the NetworkManager utility, I remember well that (yeah it's a Shitian) back in Backtrack 5 and even the fourth connexions were managed by wicd and always caused troubles at some point. NetworkManager handles very well VPN connections without problems and still allows you to make advances configurations. Maybe you should consider trying it in your Virtual Box and post results. Sometimes thiking easy avoids headaches and lets you relax.
On the other hand, it is true that router's "PPTP & VPN passthrough" option can cause troubles when using VPNs, and catalin's solution might be the best, but unless you absolutely need to use wicd (I can't think of a reason right now), you should consider easing things up with NetworkManager. Again just my belief.
Are you trying to connect a VPN or create a VPN connection betweed two points ?
    Hope this helps.

  • Possibility to configure Freedome VPN connection on unsupported devices

I have this idea, which I think would be useful in this world of many different OSes:
I suggest that you would make it possible to, for example, configure the VPN connection on Windows Phone. Windows Phone has the possibility to configure VPN profiles at the settings, and so do many other OSes that are not supported by Freedome. This would also solve the problem of having no VPN on Linux. Of cource it wouldn't be as easy as pressing a big button, but many privacy-aware users would benefit from it.

    Hi Jay,
So, when you say you need to connect your website to your Local Network, is your website a Paas instance or a IaaS instance, i.e., website hosted in a VM using IIS?
Do you have a single instance of the website or multiple instances that have been added to a VNET and need to be connected to the On-Premise Network?
What VPN device are you using to connect Azure to On-Prem?
If you have one website instance that needs to connect to an On-prem network Point-to-Site (P2S) connection would make sense. However, if you have multiple instances of your website in a VNET you would need a Site-to-Site (S2S) connection.
Please be advised that only devices that support Dynamic Routing Gateway would work when configuring P2S connections.
    Regards,
    Malar.

  • Can't remove locked VPN Connections installed by HotSpot Shield

How can I remove locked VPN connections under Network? (OS 10.9.5)
HotSpot Shield installed three VPN connections under Network settings. I no longer subscribe to the service and have removed the application, but I'm unable to remove the network connections.
    Three VPN connections were created:
    "US Server"   utahmaps.us
    "GB Server"   jacketmagazine.us
    "JP Server"    brainphotos.us
However, all these connections have the padlocked icon beside them, and I don't have the permissions to delete them.
I'm including a screen capture of one of the settings, for reference.
I can set them to inactive, but would like to remove them altogether.
    Can anyone offer any assistance?
    Thanks

I have been looking for this answer also... I found it yesterday. if you go to profiles in system preferences, you will be able to delete those completely.

  • IChat/AIM not working on VPN connection.

    hi!
so, i'm an american studying in scotland this semester. at this university, there is a 'campus net' VPN connection that i had to configure onto my ibook in order to connect to the internet here. all of a sudden, nothing works--aim, ichat, msn...even my last.fm music doesn't scrobble. i was able to figure out how to connect to skype by looking at a friend's configurations but couldn't do the same with anything else. i already went into my firewall and tried to fix that, but i think it's the 'proxy' or something that is set up wrong in these applications. is there anyone out there who could help me out?!
    thanks!

Just to let you know I'm experiencing the same problem, I'm at Newcastle Uni with a VPN connection. My AIM account works through iChat, but my Jabber one does not. I might be able to help you with your AIM through iChat. In iChat Preferences, go to your AIM account, there should be a tab on the top that says Server settings. In mine, the server is listed as login.oscar.aol.com with port number 5190. Under this, there should be a check box that says Connect using proxy. Ensure this is checked, as well as the check box below that which says Use System Preferences. This way, iChat should use the existing settings that are used by the rest of your system.
Hope this helps, but I also hope someone else can help with my Jabber problem.

  • Help For Remote Access Via VPN

    Need Help
what cisco product or router specification or model  can we use for VPN connection in our remote site via Internet Connection
    thanks Godbless

There are several options here, but more information is probably needed to give a good recommendation.
    1.  What type of VPN?  A site to site VPN that stays up, or remote VPN that is more on demand?
    2.  What type of Internet access to have at your remote site?
    3.  Are you going to also use this as a gateway to the Internet or will this device sit to the side or behind your gateway?
My first inclination is that if you just need occasional remote access to your remote site for support issues check out the ASA 5505.  Depending on where you will place it and what amount of user traffic will flow through it, you may be able to get by with just a base license and use IPSec remote VPN.
