  • Lightroom Does not Find Photoshop

I just installed Lightroom and have been toying with it.
I have Photoshop CS2 installed in the default location, but in Lightroom, under Edit > Preferences, in the External Editors Tab, it states "Edit in Adobe Photoshop (not found)." The option to Edit in Photoshop under Photo is greyed out.
Is there any way I can tell Lightroom where Photoshop is located?
As it is now, I have set up my Additional External Editor as Photoshop, but I am unsure if it is maxamizing compatibility when I save the file, and I'd really rather know why it did not find Photoshop on the install or first run?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Greg

Check out 'Lightroom does not recognize Photoshop CS2 - Windows' under 'Compatibility Issues' at
LR Extras FAQ to see if that helps.

  • Lightroom does not recognize Photoshop CS2

I installed on my notebook and all is well.
However, I installed on my desktop and Lightroom does not see that Photoshop CS2 is installed.
I'm sure a full re-install of CS2 then Lightroom would fix it...but I'm hoping for a less painful way of fixing this?
    Thanks!
    Greg

Ok - right after posting the message, I found my own answer back on the beta messageboard.
    Here's how to fix it:
    1) Run regedit.exe from start menu->run
    2) Look for this folder:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\photoshop.exe
In that folder, there should be a key "Path" and its value should be the folder where Photoshop CS2 (or any other Photoshop version) is installed."
My registry didn't have that folder, so I created it and added a "Path" key with the value being the path to Photoshop CS2: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\

  • Lightroom does not open photoshop using  "Edit in adobe photoshop CC-" command.

I updated lightroom and photoshop using the CC desktop. (LR V5.3 x64, PS V14.6.2 x64) This broke the “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command.
Based on advice from this forum, I unistalled both programs completely and reinstalled them.  The
“Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command is still broken.
Is there a way to fix this?  I use this feature frequently.

    In reply to DdeGannes:
What’s broken?  --  The “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command does not open photoshop and the file as it did before the upgrade.
Is the "edit in function" not available? -- It is visible in the edit it menu.
    Was it working before?  Yes.
What happens if you click? -  Nothing.
Do you get an error message?  - No.

  • Brown splotches on image in Lightroom but not Camera RAW?

I'm using Lightroom 4.1 and Photoshop Camera RAW from CS5 version 6.6
In Lightroom I'm getting some brown splotches on the faces of the groomsmen to the right.  These splotches while less noticeable also appear on the bride and groom.
Process the same RAW file in Camera RAW and there are no brown splotches anywhere on the photos.
Any thoughts on how I can get rid of this anomaly in Lightroom?
See attached photo.  Lightroom file on top and camera raw file on the bottom.

That catches most at some time!!!

  • Lightroom 2 losing metadata for TIFFs but not jpegs

I use LR2 and have noticed an apparent glitch on exporting TIFFs. My copyright field ("Clients may use the pictures for...") is cut off halfway (after 128 characters to be exact) when I open the TIFF in PS4 and look at the IPTC data. But simply changing the export to jpeg - the copyright field is intact. The TIFF metadata is fine when viewing in Lightroom.
I can't find any help on this, I hope someone can advise..?
    Alex

I agree that the handling of the metadata may at times appear to be inconsistant between LR and PS, and there may or may not be a bug involved. I rarely need anything beyond LR, so an old copy of Elements 8 is the only PS related package I have. Even so, I can confirm that PSE8 will truncate various IPTC datafields down to their specified length during a TIFF round trip to PSE8 and back to LR. I haven't dug into why this is happening, since LR does generate the xmp fields that do capture the longer strings of data (even for the older IPTC fields). Further, this may be different (fixed) with the latest copy of PSE.
All that said, you may want to re-consider your useage of the Copyright field. I believe it is intended primarily for the name of yourself or your organization, and perhaps a date or copyright character.  For longer instructions on what people can and can not do with your image, then you should use the "Rights Usage Terms" field. This can all be found at www.iptc.org, and downloading the latest standard. If you decide to change your workflow, and need to update your LR catalog by bulk moving data from one IPTC field to another, then consider using a nifty transfer plug-in by John Beardsworth, here.

  • Colors washed out in lightroom but not after export

I'm new to Lighroom and don't really have a workflow sorted out. I'm shooting with a Canon 30D and shooting Raw+Jpeg until I learn enough to confidently handle raw files. If I adjust the images in lightroom so that they don't appear lifeless and grey by adding lots of saturation, when I export to jpeg and then view with windows picture viewer to see what the images would look like on Zenfolio in SRGB they are grossly over saturated and clownish. My monitor(Dell 2005FPW) is not calibrated with a calibrator but I am using the adobe prophoto icc profile in an effort to have some color management as I understand that is what Lightroom/CS3 uses. I'm not printing yet but hope to some day, for now I'd just like to upload some photo's to Zenfolio and share with friends and family but as it sits Lightroom is totally unusable as I have to guess what it will look like after export. I'm certain it's something I'm doing wrong or missing and I'm hoping someone can tell me what that is. Thanks in advance, Veet

Thanks for all the replies, I was beginning to think I was on my own,I'm very happy this thread finally came to life. I did use an adobe Monitor profile (Prophoto) as I thought that was the color space used by LR and had read in some other thread that I should use it. I tried using my supplied profile (2005fpw.icm) and I get an error message from Photoshop stating "The Monitor profile"Dell 2005FPW color profile" appears to be defective please rerun your monitors calibration software. I then have the option to ignore the profile or to use it anyways. I actually stumbled accross the huelight ACR's and tried them out but that didn't help. Photoshop has the same bland lifeless look as LR does. I d/l a trial of Elements 5 and it was also the same so it's adobe across the board. Color space and color management are totally new concepts for me
so I'm really at a disadvantage trying to trouble shoot this, I can bandy these terms about, but I suspect I don't really grok them fully as of yet. I'll be happy when I finally get my monitor calibrated, I understand now that it won't be a magic "fix all" :( but at least I'll have a solid point to begin building a color managed system. Other Raw converters don't seem to have this problem but as I am just now developing my workflow I'd like to master one program and I think I'd like that to be LR as it seems to be the one that encompasses the entire workflow ie. rating, cataloging, flagging ect. and I feel it would probably mesh best with Photoshop which I also plan to learn/use. I'm feeling pretty stuck and not very inspired to shoot atm as the exposures just keep piling up and aren't being integrated or dealt with appropriately. I don't have auto tone checked off and I'll see if I can track down an updated driver/profile for my monitor, one which isn't "defective" as Adobe puts it. Thank you for all the replies, I will get this resolved eventually and any help you guys can give me is more than appreciated.
A few questions should I shoot Adobe RBG or SRGB from the camera and does it matter for RAW? My understanding was that in order to use 16 bit I needed to be in AdobeRBG.
Which profile should I use for photoshop? as I can set the color space in it
After I calibrate my monitor will I be able to use that profile for the various pieces of software I'll be using?
I think I have Color Profile and Color Space meshed in my mind and thats probably very wrong. Thanks, Veet

  • Why is the metadata in Lightroom 5 not updated ?

    Hi there,
I have made changes to photos in a folder using Adobe CS6 via the Camera Raw in Adobe Bridge CS6.
However, when I open up my Lightroom 5, all the changes that I made in Adobe Bridge CS6 was not shown in Lightroom 5.
How do make Lightroom 5 recognise the changes that I made in Adobe Bridge CS6 ?
    Thanks

    Use Metadata->Read Metadata from Files
If I could give you some advice, using two programs (Bridge and Lightroom) whose purposes generally overlap is not a good procedure, and furthermore, there is no way to have LR automatically recognize those metadata change made in Bridge. It must be done manually, every single time. So, my advice is that if you're going to use Lightroom, make all your metadata changes in Lightroom and stop using Bridge.

  • DNG files display artifacts in Lightroom but not in Camera Raw

I've been scratching my head over this one for a few days so hopefully someone here can help.  Some of my dng images are showing artifacts in Lightroom 3, see attached file as an example.  However, if I open these images in Camera Raw 5.7 the artifacts are gone!  The artifacts are also gone when I view the DNG in Windows Live Photo Gallery. The images are stored on a gigabit network server with the LR catalog file on the local Win 7 PC.  One other thing I noticed is that for some images (not all) the artifacts will show up in the Library module but disappear when viewed in the Develop module. There are no "damaged file" error messages for Lightroom when viewing the affected files.  I tried clearing out the Camera Raw Cache but nothing changed.
So my questions are:  Are these files damaged or not? Is there a way to fix this problem. Why are they showing up fine in other image programs?  Is there a utility that can verify the integrity of a suspect DNG file?

  • OpenGL Enabled, but not working (Photoshop CS4)

I have having a weird problem with Photoshop CS4. First of all, let me give off the specs.
    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570 (Driver Version 8.960.11.1000, with latest Catalyst Control Center)
I use Photoshop CS4 for freelance work, and one of the tools I like to use is the Rotate tool. When I first got my desktop and installed Photoshop, everything worked fine. However, recently I was forced to perform and factory restore on my desktop thanks to a virus.
Today I started working on something and when I tried using the Rotate tool, it was not working (I go that error window saying it wasn't enabled). I checked the OpenGL settings to see it was enabled. Confused, I restarted Photoshop and tried again with no luck.
This turned into a search around the internet to see just what is going on, but the only thing I could find was suggesting updating drivers for my graphics card and Adobe, which I have tried with no success. I have found out that some people were having the same trouble as me, but what makes my case odd is that it was working fine before the factory restore.
    Any help would be great.

Because of ATI's plethora of version information I'm not really sure what Catalyst release your 8.960.11.1000 driver comes from, but I do know that Catalyst 12.4 has some problems working with later versions of Photoshop.  Perhaps Photoshop CS4 isn't too happy with it either.
The most recent Catalyst release that was known to be good with Photoshop was 12.2 (though it shows up as 12.3 in the status display).  It can be found here:
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx
Downgrading drivers is a bit more tricky than upgrading them - you have to fully remove the current ones first, then install the older set.

  • I downloaded Photoshop CC and Lightroom but now my Photoshop CS5 is gone.  Where is it?

I downloaded Photoshop CC and Lightroom (that nice package deal)  and when I went to open up Photoshop CS5, it is no longer there.
Where did it go?  Is this supposed to happen? If not, how do I get it back?

  • Font shows up in Fontbook, but not in Photoshop or Illustrator

HELP! I am have been working on this stupid problem all night
I see Papyrus font in Fontbook and it checked out ok. Yet, it doesnt show up in my two graphic programs, Photoshop and Illustrator. I would use a different font, but am matching something to a project I did last year.
It worked fine in those programs before I upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Cant I just drag and drop something somewhere
I have thoroughly looked through the forums and gone to all the links provided...which are pages and pages of info that doesnt answer my question.
Am hoping like heck that someone can help me and I can avoid a long trip to the Genius Bar.

Ok, I was soooo excited to open that first folder and see no font in it. Ahh, it's the little things in life... I copied/pasted the missing font...and...voila'. DID. NOT. WORK. Ok, I wont bore you all with all the crap I did for the next hour of turning fonts on and off. Validating. Looking in font folders. Copying. Pasting. Check boxes. etc... ARGH.
I will tell you that I did get it working and all of your wonderful suggestions basically put me back into problem-solving mode. More hours gone from my life over this stooooopid problem!
I noticed that my font was .ttc Most of the other fonts were .ttf Ok, I'll bite. I went online and downloaded a .ttf version. It loaded automatically. Imagine my joy. New font suffix. Loaded by itself. That will solve all my font woes. Short-lived joy. STILL DID NOT WORK.
Ok, so I went into EVERY font folder I could get my hands on and basically copied and pasted it there. I did remove an obscure .ttc version from one. Restart. The Font Book has the angry yellow triangle of duplication. It will just have to get over it, because.........
We're up and running now! Thanks for your motivation
Oh, I forgot to mention. I went to the Apple store and sat at the Genius Bar for ALMOST AN HOUR while the "Genius"...came to these forums to find answers? He was scratching his head as I finally disappointedly walked out the door.

  • Acr opens raw in bridge but not in photoshop cs5

When opening a raw (RAF ) file in bridge everything  works fine ,when I want to open the file, ps cs5 opens the file, no problem.
But when opening the same file in ps, acr comes up and when I click open image, I get the message " could not comlete your request because there  is not enough memory (RAM)".
When opening acr in bridge and then: open image, ps works fine.
I just upgraded my mobo ,memory and processor ( i7-2600k .8Mb). Still running windows xp 32bit with intel hd 3000 video ,dual monitor. Never had this problem before with less memory and pentium 4.
    Very strange. Any ideas?

What type of RAW files are we talking about, NEF,CR2 or other?
Bridge is just a flle browser, and RAW files are opened and edited in Adobe Camera Raw.  Do you just get a thumbnail, but it willl not open in ACR?
Does ACR work with other RAW images that have not been corrupted.
Do you have a backup (highly recommended) of these images somewhere?  Should be on seperate physical drive or on a DVD.

  • White still showing in PDF but not in Photoshop after making selection

    Hi,
The first attachment is a selection I've made of a makeup brush that was originally on a white background. The second attachment is a screenshot of how that brush is showing up after I place the selected brush in an Illustrator file and export to PDF.
As you can see, even though you can't see any extra white around the brush in my selection, its showing up with it in the final PDF. I put the black background behind the selection in the first attachment to simulate the background from the PDF. It is the same exact color, which verifies that there is no extra white in the original selection which can be seen.
How can I get rid of that extra white showing up?
    Thanks!

Have you tried zooming in on the pdf and seeing if the white outline is still there? I've found a lot of the time with my pdf's that the viewer itself is just not rendering the image correctly.
    Like this crappy white edge
But then when I zoom in it vanishes
