IPTV MPEG2 Decoder

I have an installation consiting of
IPTV Broadcast Server 3425
IPTV Content Manager 3412
Both are installed with Ver 3.4.14.
I am unable to view MPEG2 content with IPTV Viewer or as a Plug-In from Content Manager.
MPEG1 content can be viewed without any problems. The IPTV viewer states that no decoder is available for MPEG2 content.
Any ideas?.
Thanks
Ian.

MPEG-2 requires decoder software (and MPEG patent licenses) at every desktop. IPTV-VIEW-MP2-BASE or -ADD is the part number I think.
The -base has the CD, the -add is just additional licenses. There is a -1000 part that is 1000 licenses at a time. You can not view MPEG2 without this decoder.

  • TV Anywhere Mpeg2 decoding

Is it possible to use TV Anywhere as a Hardware Mpeg2 decoder to bild a graph with Graphedit?
I have an DVB card without Mpeg2 hardware decoding and wonder if it's possible to use the TV Anywhere as an decoder for the mpeg2 stream from the DVB card as a DirectShow Filter?
    Saarg

the CX2388x chipsets are able to decode the MPEG Streams but I don`t think that the feature is implemented in the TV Anywhere so the only way to do it whould be to modify the card.
Anyway there are plenty of software MPEG decoders and also many video cards have hardware decoding built in.

  • MPEG2 decoder

Hi There - I have been downloading mov files from my video camera and they having been playing fine in quicktime. Today i bought Final Cut express and downloaded some new files from my camera only to find that they were downloading as MPEGs and would play in Final cut or Quicktime. So I purchased the mpeg decoder from the mac website. Now I can see the MPEG segments but they are very grainy and no sound. All my previous mov files no play very grainy. So I want to know how I can uninstall this decoder .. I tried uninstalling quicktime but the new decoder persists and the new segments load in itunes... Can someone .. anyone tell me how to install this decoder ....
and if anyone knows how can I export my segments in mov format again I'm not sure how this changed .. whether it is a setting on my camera or on my mac.
    Please help

Download the free MPEG Streamclip program (Google for it) and use it with the MPEG-2 Codec to convert your files to a more manageable format, for example there is an option to make the files ready for import to iMovie as DV files, which I have found to be very good and quick to work with.

  • MPEG2 playback is slow using QTJava 7.2 on Vista

I have an MPEG2 clip, which when played back on Windows Vista using QTJava 7.2 is slow. The clip plays back fine on Windows Vista using the standalone QuickTime player. I have also tried playing back the clip on Windows XP using the same hardware as the Vista machine and it plays back fine using QTJava 7.2.
I have tested this on 3 Vista machines, which all run slow and 2 XP machines which all run fine.
The specification for QuickTimePlayer MPEG2 does not list Vista as a supported OS. Is there a release planned for the MPEG2 decoder for Vista?
    Best regards
    Richard Biswell

They playback problem is probably caused by the media the MPEG-2 file is found.
Move it off the the DVD (too slow) and directly to your HD and see if the speed is normal.
Java is not involved in any way.

  • DVDSP output to my NTSC Monitor?

    Hey there,
I have a JVC NTSC monitor that is plugged into my AJA Kona LH. I'm having great luck using it with Motion, FCP and After Effects, as the "Output" preferences allow me to choose the Kona and my work shows up on the JVC just like it's supposed to.
Somehow, however, I do not get any option in Preferences within DVD studio pro to output to anything other than the Desktop. I have no Firewire into the JVC, which I think may be part of the issue?
Any ideas how I can do DVD simulations and output them onto my monitor?
    Thanks!
    Gman

Any ideas how I can do DVD simulations and output them onto my monitor?
Can't be done with Apple's new Desktop Preview thingie... it specifically requires a video card to do it, not an AJA card. It certainly does not show my Aurora Fuse card as an option.
It's not a Firewire issue. With Firewire, you have something (usually a camcorder or DV deck) that serves as the digital/analog converter. If there was a Firewire converter that decoded MPEG2 instead of DV, and if DVDSP supported it, then it would be a Firewire issue.
Basically, to do what you want, you'd need a card that provided hardware MPEG2 decoding. Apple bought Spruce's card that provided that capability when they bought Spruce, but have chosen not to offer it as a product.
The lack of true MPEG2 decoding and previewing on a broadcast monitor is often mentioned as one of the big drawbacks for using a Mac as a pro DVD authoring setup.

When you restart your computer or upgrade to Windows XP, you receive the "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABL...
Don, this situation can often be repaired by booting to the Recovery Console and running..
       chkdsk /r

  • DVD-ROM created in DVDSP does not show files in Windows

    Hello,
I created a DVD-ROM in DVD Studio Pro 4 with the purpose of having a working DVD and also have additional files in that same disk. It all works fine in a Mac; I can watch the DVD, and I can also access the additional files (one .pdf and one .mp4) from the Finder. The DVD also works fine in any DVD player.
However, when I put the disk on a Windows computer, I can only watch the DVD movie, but the additional files DO NOT appear in Windows Explorer. If I open the dvd drive on a Windows computer, there's only the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, and nothing else.
Does anybody have an idea of what's going on here? PLEASE HELP.
    Thank you.

This is an m2v file playing on the windows machine. Of course I would have preferred to run with a mac, but the end display software does not run on a Mac.
Windows Media Player, using the commonly(?) installed Klite Codec Pack which includes and mpeg2 decoder, shows it as having a length of 6:38.
VLC will play it as well, but shows not timecode on a windows machine.
The whole movie is there and I can scrub until the end in WMP. In fact Windows Media Player will play it to the end. And as it hits the end, the timecode should show 10:00 minutes, but it does not, it shows 6:38. On a Mac it shows 10:00 minutes
The end movie is to play in software (Windows Samsung's Magic Info Pro) that loops when the end time code is reached. Which it thinks is 6:38. The only problem is that it loops at 6:38 of the original movie which is not the end of the movie.
Sounds like a relativistic spacetime problem.
Before I get slammed for asking Windows related questions -- I put this in the compressor forum to see if there was some compressor setting I was not enabling, or some tweak that I could do to make an m2v file windows friendly.

  • Encore 2.0 MPEG-2

Am I missing something with Encore 2.0.  The direct burn to DVD seems to ONLY write in MPEG-2 format - which seems to have issues displaying on some installations of Windows Media Player.  Is there an easy way in Encore 2.0 OR Premiere Pro 2.0 to generate a DVD that will play in "most" computer DVD drives? OR ... IF not, can you recommend burning software to achieve this goal.

DVD-Video is MPEG2.  There is no other option.
The only way to get a DVD to play on a computer is for that computer to
have a licensed MPEG2 decoder installed.  Usually a software DVD player
takes care of that for you.
For "universal" playback on Windows, you need to use Flash or Windows
Media.  For Mac+Windows, Flash is the best way.  FYI, Encore CS3 and CS4
can take your DVD project and turn it into a Flash project for you.

  • Mpg file

I have an mpg file that I transfered from my old PC. I want to import it into iMovie and then burn it to a dvd. Because it is a mpg file, I can't do this. Is there any software or tricks that will allow me to change it to a file that will play in QT on the mac and also allow me to import it into iMovie.

You need MPEG2 playback component for MPEG2 decoding. QT Pro is a separate issue.
If you don't want to make any edits to the MPEG, I'd recommend burning it directly as a video-DVD. Then you don't need that MPEG2 playback component. Instead you need apps like $100 Toast $0 Sizzle that can burn it as a video-DVD (IF your source file is compatible with a video-DVD, that is).

  • Video on DVD stutters

    Hiya there,
    Let's start with the issue:
I create mini movies in iMovie from 6MP photos and 640/480 (30fps) videos from same digital camera. These look absolute stunning:
    - in iMovie when I preview them
    - as an exported mpeg4 file.
But as soon as I have iDVD render the project to DVD:
    - the photos still look gorgeous
    - the video stutters, as if the framerate has dropped to 10fps.
    Now, don't get me wrong:
    - I do work with 720P iMovie projects
    - I don't have iMovie send my movie to iDVD, I use expert settings to export the video in mpeg4. This because I found out that iPhoto slideshows looked consistently stunning with just a slight stutter during Kens Burns. And - lo and behold - iPhoto exports in mpeg4.
Any hints would be most welcome,
thanks from the flatland where most Earthians think Amsterdam is a separate country (well, maybe those Earthians aren't so far off the mark)
    iMac 20" Core   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi there Len,
Well, QT (.dv) doesn't seem to render photos as sharp as MP4 does. iPhoto exports slideshows to MP4 prior to import in iDVD and I found that the slideshows looked markedly better than the videos.
The issue with the choppy, stuttering iDVD product remains however. Since posting I've tried to save as a DVD image in iDVD and burning it through Nero (yes, my iMac has been dual booted). The stuttering isn't solved however. This got me thinking.
Is the stuttering caused by the - supposedly - bad MPEG2 decoder in iDVD?
Might the stuttering be caused by the iMac DVD burner (I've used +R and it can also burn in -R)?
Would be stuttering be solved if I would burn the DVD through Toast Titanium instead?
    Thanks for your reply Len!
    Take care, Evert

  • Windows mce capture card on mpc915

    hi.
ive just purchased a mpc915 and installed windows xp MCE. i also bought a hauppage wintv pci 150MCE card as i hope to watch sky through this.
is the onboard video up to this or do i need better video card as i can not get any channels at all.
    regards
    jim

Intel 915G integrated VGA is MCE compatible, but you need the correct driver:
    Intel® 82915G/82910GL Express Chipset Family
you also need a DVD/MPEG2 decoder which is MCE compatible. i have provided links to the most popular on my website:
    http://www.ukshazam.com/index.php?topic=22.0
now, when it comes to connecting a Sky STB, you don't want to be connecting it using the RF lead. find out what video output formats are supported through the SCART socket (either composite or S-Video) and connect that way
    S-Video > Composite > RF

  • Dvdplayer

    hi all,
iam developing a dvdplayer using jmf and jni and c++ can anyone help me how to retrive the data from the dvd driver and set it in the form of url if anybody have source can you send me so that i can make my player successful , waiting for your reply .
    thank you
    regards

if you are referring to audio cd when saying songs cd, using the windows performance pack, you can play it by passing the cda file in the cd to the player [got this in the faq]. having a hard time in the dvd player need direct sector access. am doing some revisions in the player code i'll send the core to you in the next few hours.
by the way you can use pure java to read the dvd headers.
2 main problems remain for the dvd player:
    1. direct sector access (can be solve with c/c++ code using jni)
    2. mpeg2 decoder (dont know yet)

  • After installing Snow Leopard several apps don't work anymore

Be aware: after installing SL you will find that Flip4Mac doesn't work (a beta upgrade must be downloaded). I have Speed Download as download manager, but I had to reconfigure it because downloads were not automatically redirected to Speed Download. MPEG Streamclip complained that the MPEG2-decoder wasn't installed; I had to redownload it from the Apple Store.
Wish Apple did a better testing before distributing

    And further mentions:
If you already upgraded to Snow Leopard
You have to reinstall or restore your MPEG-2 Playback Component.
If you have a Time Machine backup of your System folder, then open the /System/Library/QuickTime folder, enter Time Machine and go back in time until you see the QuickTimeMPEG2.component file; select that file and then click Restore.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store, then you probably still have the DMG file that contains the installer. Use Spotlight to search for "QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg": if you find a file with that name, double-click it and then in the disk image, double-click the installer package for Intel Macs.
If you purchased the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the Apple Online Store but you can't find the QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg file, you can download the file again from the Apple Online Store if you remember the Apple ID used when you originally purchased it (if you forgot your Apple ID then go to Apple iforgot). Visit the Apple Online Store, click on "Account" in the store menu, then click "Downloadable Software Purchases," enter your Apple ID and password, and click the link to the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component to download it again.
If you obtained the MPEG-2 Playback Component from the installation of Final Cut Studio, then you can reinstall it again from the Final Cut Studio DVD. Insert the DVD and use the Finder's Go menu > Go To Folder... command to get to the /Volumes/Final Cut Studio/Installer/Packages/ folder inside the DVD. Locate the QuickTimeMPEG2.pkg or the QuickTimeMPEG2Pro.pkg installer: double-click it to reinstall the MPEG-2 component.

  • TV with Media Centre

First of all i cant believe you cant talk to anyone at MSI on the phone what the hell is that all about.
I have a Mega 856 Pro PC with MS Media Centre 2005 and a Mega MSI TV Card.
when u select TV in set up on the media centre it says there isnt one, and the tv program u get with the card, starts to tune in some channels that look rubbish but u cant select anything. Can anyone help at all before i go mad.

MCE 2005 is very picky.. I just installed it on my Mega 180 2 days ago. It wouldn't work with the MSI 8606 tuner.. so I went with the AVerMedia M150 card. Its cheap (about $55 on Newegg.com).  Then, the tricky part is finding a MPEG2 decoder that will work with the Windows XP MCE 2005 operating system. I went thru almost all my programs I had and finally Cyberlink's PowerDVD 6 v1102 worked flawlessly. I have the Microsoft MCE remote ($29.99) and everything working perfect. It sure beats the original Mega remote and Media Center Deluxe III.. I love it so far.
So what you need to do is just get a compadible TV Tuner. Stick by exactly what it says on the Microsoft website, or else u will run into conflicts. Also stick with what it says on their site about video cards and DVD Decoder codecs. Those happened to be the main issues for nearly everyone I talked to.

  • Entertainment Center für x

Ich h?tte gerne gewusst ob es das Entertainment Center f?r x64 gibt oder noch heraus kommt. Ich habe eine X-FO Gamer pro unter Windows x64?mfg Dadi

    jc009837,
I think that the information given was "technically" right, but not the whole story. Basically, the Entertainment Center software will use whatever DVD / MPEG2 decoder that is already installed on your system. i.e., WinDVD, PowerDVD, Nero Showtime. etc...
What you would need to do, is find the settings / options of this other program, and configure the audio output to spdif. This will bypass the software's decoder and allow the soundcard to kick in and decode the DVD's audio. All of the THX / calibration should take effect and allow control at that point.
