IQ506-Loose wireless contact with Belkin N1 Router, unless I have my wireless notebook sitting

next to the Touchsmart. Laptop has a SD card in it.
Was wondering if I should get a USB adapter to enhance the signal?  Or if there is someway I can adjust the system.  The laptop, gets a great signal strength, 5 out of 5 bars.  The Touchsmart 2 or 3 out of 5.
Thanks for suggestions.
Mark

Have you updated the wireless card drivers??  HP has had many internally wired USB WLAN adapters show very weak signal due to a driver issue.  They have corrected these issues in most driver updates.  Make sure HP Update shows you are up to date.  I'm not sure which adapter the IQ506 uses, but this should be the first step.  If the driver is up to date, and you are still having signal issues, try changing the router's channel. 2,4 or 8 are usually best.  Some cards fend off WLAN interference better than others, so make sure you are on a clean channel.

  • Macbook Pro with Belkin N1 Router

Are there any known issues with connecting a MacBook Pro to a Belkin N1 Router? I have a Core2Duo MacBook Pro (purchased this week), and my wife has a regular Mac Book (purchased last November). She can connect to the N1 with download speeds exceeding 10000kbps (we have Comcast High Speed service), while my MacBook Pro -- placed right next to her barely exceeds 1000 kbps.
The N1 has the latest firmware, so my thinking is that is may have to do with the MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

OK, I called Belkin and got a real dufus on the first call. He said OH you need to take the router back and exchange. I told him no I did that yesterday and I am having the same exact problem, everytime I enter security into the router it goes to poop. He insisted that I take it back, so I hung up on him and called again. This time I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with Craig and he asked about my equipment and what was happening. He then had me do an upgrade of the firmware to aversion 3.1012. I use wpa2psk for my security and everything seems to be working fine for now.

You can't do anything. You have encountered the activation lock. Unless you have some sort of contact with the previous owner you have bought a very expensive paper weight.
You can find out more about activation lock from Apple's site here: Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

My i phone 4  keeps loosing its connection with my Toyota Camry bluethoth   does anyone know what I can do about that?

Ignore the ridiculous post by W1$C.  He posts that regardless of the person's question.
Things you can do to solve your problem:
    1.  General>Settings>Reset Network settings
    2.  If this is only happening at home, power down your router for a minute, then power it back up.
    3.  Other basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide are to restart, reset, and restore--first from backup, then if needed as a new device.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I Share a document with a user who does not have righs to the site? (SharePoint 2013 on prem)

    Joe is in Sales
He must Share a document with Jane in Marketing.
He only wants to Share this one document.
Does he need to go into the Sales site and add Jane as a site user? Jane will then be able to see everything on the site. No good.
Does Joe now need to break inheritance on all the other site libraries from Jane to hide them??
In a perfect world, Joe shares the doc with Jane. Jane gets email with link. Jane clicks link and goes to sale site where all she sees is the document that was Shared- nothing else.
Cheers, Jim ___________________________________________________ If this was helpful please mark as an answer.

With 2013, you can just Share the specific item. It will automatically break inheritance on that item and allow Jane to see that one document only and Jane will get a link inviting her to the document.

  • C309g wireless setup with iMac i7 / Router D-Link DIR-300

Just trying to get the wireless connection. I've just the USB-cable for the installation process evereything worked out fine. Now the test report shows that everything is OK. In mac os the printer is added to the print&fax menu status: green light.
But i cannot print / connect to the printer when I open the printer utility.
Think it's an IP problem!? The IP-Range from the router is 192.168.... now the printer got another IP address 169.254....
I do not know how to process further. DHCP-Server on/off in the router settings? Assign the printer a fixed IP within the DHCP range? Every device in my wireless network is assigned with MAC-address and IP in the settings because I wanted to make sure nobody could connect from outside. I tried to assign a free IP in the range 192.168 but that didn't work any suggestions?

  • Wireless trouble with C4780 recognizing router with Mac 10.8.2

I had to reset my Time Capsule (router) due to Hurricane Sandy and my printer refuses to recognize my Network so that I can put in my new network name and password.  It won't recognize anything even when I connect the printer via USB to the computer and to the router (Time Capsule).  When I run those connectivity tests, it says the Network Status is offline.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is my Network offline because the printer will not connect with it or is it offline because there is an offline section on the printer or on the computer that has been inadvertently checked that keeps the printer from being recognized?

  • My iMac PowerPC G4 will not connect to my Belkin N  router. I have not been able to connect for so long that I actually gave up on this computer until today, so it is a little out of date software wise. It is running OS 10.3.9.

First off i apoligize for the title length, a bit new to help forums and didnt realize thats what that was .
    Anyways;
My iMac PowerPC has been having this issue for quite a few years, prompting me to flat out replace it. I recently had a friend come to need a computer, and told them they could have it once i got it working.
The unfortunate problem that i luckily discovered: my friend and i use the same brand / model of Router, the Belkin N+ (N plus incase it removes the plus sign like it did in the title).
Ive tried everything i know, which isnt much. I've verified the password is correct, ive restarted the computer, and ive restarted my modem and router. Nothing works.
I should mention also that the computer is out of date program wise (obviously) since i havent been able to connect with it in so long. I am still using Internet Connect, and the computer still gives me the option to try .Mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The router is much, much newer than the computer, perhaps some characteristic of the WiFi network as it's currently setup is preventing the computer from connecting.
Try to go back to the basics: set your WiFi network to "b" mode only (i.e., turn off "g") and termporarily remove the password from it. See if the computer will at least establish a connection at that point. Then start turning on one thing at a time ("g" mode, then security, etc).
Not sure what format your WEP key is, but if it's not 10 characters (the minimum for the standard, which constitutes a 64-bit key), you can try making it that long. If it's 13 or 26 characters, it might be a higher encryption than the computer can support.
If all else fails, you could try looking on ebay/craigslist for a copy of Tiger to install on the iMac, which would have software support for more WiFi encryption schemes. Also, it would provide software support for USB WiFi adapters that would also be able to connect to more modern networks.

  • Can't sync contacts with yahoo account (and I do have internet connection!)

When I sync my iPhone 4 with my computer, it says it can't sync with my Yahoo account (as it has been for the past year) because I don't have an internet connection. I have wireless interent connection and I've checked everything - it's hooked up and I've tried to close out programs, restart etc. I have the latest iTunes version on my computer. Thank you for your help in advance...

OK, sounds like you are using Yahoo to store your contacts.  If you're having a problem with this, it is highly likely it is on Yahoo's end since they often have server issues, but two things you can try:
If you're currently on wi-fi, turn that off and see if you can access your contacts via 3G.
Try deleting the Yahoo account off your iPhone and re-create it.
Last week my Yahoo account was acting buggy and didn't get resolved until I did both (turned off wi-fi, then deleted and re-created the account over 3G).

My K1 crashes my Siemens Gigaset SE587 Router as soon as I turn the wireless on,  and the router keeps rebooting as long as the wireless on the K1 is turned on,  even if it is connected to a different access point.   It crashes the neighbors routers as well -- any SE587 within range of the K1's wireless signal.

from your post it's not clear so can you confirm that your box if conencted to the phone line has a filter?
you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.
check the driver for wireless card in laptop is up to date - check manufacturer's website not windows update
you can also try changing wireless in hub fromdefault b/g/n to just b/g unless all your wireless devices are 'n' rated

  • Using AXs with a Gateway Router...help needed

For years my wife and I lived in a home which ran an AirPort Extreme for all our internet and music needs. We've recently moved into a new home which already had a DSL/Gateway wireless router installed (as part of AT&T's HomeZone packagge). After giving serious thought to my desire to have a new wireless sound system for my new home, I bought the following at the Apple store:
    - Two AirPort Express;
    - A Bose Companion 3 Series II powered speaker system; and,
    - An iPod HiFi.
I've hooked both the Boze speaker & HiFi systems up to their own AirPort Express, and they sound great when I run my iTunes through my wireless system for +that particular+ AirPort.
The problem is is that I can't seem to get both sound systems to play simultaneously, nor can I connect to my internet (Gateway) and run either (or both) of these speakers.
Any hints as to HOW I can get music to both AirPorts while still being able to surf the net on my Gateway router? Is there a way to bridge both AXs to the Gateway?
I know...I'm a luuddite. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello mrviognier. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Any hints as to HOW I can get music to both AirPorts while still being able to surf the net on my Gateway router?
Yes, you just need to configure the AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) in "client mode."
AirPort Express Base Station (AX) - Client Mode Setup
o Plug the AX into a power outlet.
o On your computer, join the wireless network created by AX.
o Open AirPort Admin Utility. (Mac users: Find it in /Applications/Utilities/. Windows users: On the Start menu, point to All Programs and click AirPort.)
o After AirPort Admin Utility opens, the name of your AX appears in the list. Select it, then click Configure.
o Enter the administrator password if prompted.
    o Click the AirPort tab.
o Enter a name for your AX in the Name field. (This name is how it will appear in AirPort Admin Utility; it may be different from the AirTunes remote speaker name. (Note that AirPort Setup Assistant does not allow you to differentiate these names, but AirPort Admin Utility does.)
o If your AX does not already have an administrator password, click the Change Password button to enter one. This password can be different from any network password, and is used for just changing settings on AX.
o In the same pane, under the AirPort Network heading, change the Wireless Mode from "Create a Wireless Network (Home Router)" to "Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)."
o Type the name of the wireless network you want to join in the Network Name field. (Note: If you're using AirPort Admin Utility in Mac OS X, you may be able to choose the network from a pop-up menu. This is the name (or SSID) of your current wireless network with the Trendnet router.)
o If the wireless network is password protected, you will need to enter the password. (Mac users: Click Security Options, choose the level of password encryption from the Wireless Security pop-up menu, then enter the password. When finished, click OK. Windows users: Click Wireless Security, choose the level of password encryption from the Wireless Security menu, then click "Set WEP Password" to enter the password. When finished, click OK.)
o Click the Music tab to enter the name that will appear in iTunes as your AirTunes remote speakers. You can also enter a password to prevent others from streaming music to your speakers.
o Finally, click Update to send your new settings to AX.
Once the AX has had a minute or so to restart, it should join the existing wireless network, as indicated by its status light turning solid green.

  • How can I extend a wireless network with my AirPort Extreme Base Station?

Today I purchased a brand new, dual-band base station to replace my Belkin N router, as I have had a handful of firewall, coverage, and other networking problems in my house lately. First off, I really like this router and it was very easy to setup. My MacBook Pro could use both bands and established a 300 Mbit/s link very quickly. After tweaking various settings to my liking, I was also able to maximize the connections on many of my non-Apple machines and devices. I noticed that the range of its network was better than my Belkin's, but unfortunately, it failed to completely saturate the area sufficiently. Since the Belkin still works well enough, I was hoping I could bridge them together one way or the other.
The Belkin router does not support any bridge mode that I know of, but the AirPort Extreme should be able to join a wireless network and then extend that over WiFi and Ethernet, correct? I would like to place them at opposite ends of my home so I can get strong WiFi signals everywhere inside. However, when I try to get the base station to connect to my preexisting WiFi connection, it tells me that I can't extend the network and fails to join.
So is this possible? And if it is, how would I go about setting it up? I know it would probably be easier if I had a simple range booster such as an AirPort Express, but I didn't buy one while I was at Fry's since I hoped I could make use of the older Belkin. This is its product page, if needed. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sorry, but no. The AirPort Extreme Base Station cannot "join" a network like the AirPort Express or Time Capsule, but you wouldn't want to do this anyway because in this configuration these devices will only perform as wireless clients ... not routers.
Instead, the AirPort Extreme can either be extended or can extend another 802.11g or 802.11n AirPort ... or a very very few non-AirPort devices.
One option for your Belkin would be to connect it to the AirPort Extreme by Ethernet but this may not meet your requirements or be a desirable situation. Otherwise, you would need to get another AirPort to extend your current one.
