IQ524 Upgrade to win 7 problems

Still unresolved problems with win7 upgrade and after 5 weeks of attempting to get through on the help line showing on the instructions still no results.  Now when you call the help line it says it is a private number.  What is that all about.  This stinks.  This win 7 upgrade program is a bust.  Also note that alot of vendors still do not support win 7 with updated drivers for devices including the newer HP office network printers.  Beware of the upgrade windows beast.
I guess my last post was dropped for the message board for some reason.

Hot off the press.  The 1-888-447-0150 is supposeldy not a good number that was printer on the win 7 upgrade package instruction sheet.  I used another number from off the HP.com web site.  They could not offer a solution either and will get back with me when they may have an answer to the problem by e-mail.  Okay.

  • (s300) Keyboard and touchpad problem after upgrading to win 8.1

    Hi,
I just upgraded to win 8.1 (from win 8) and I have to problems that are pretty annoying.
The first problem is with the keyboard (I think it has something to do with keyboard layout):
When I type quote mark ( " or ' ) it doesn't display it. Only when I press another key it shows.
The second problem is with the thouchpad. Before I upgraded I could "click the right mouse key" by touching the touchpad with two fingers. After the upgrade it doesn't work anymore. I tried to download the newest driver from the drivers page, but it didn't fix it.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks!

  • Problems with printing after upgrading to Win 8.1 and/ or explorer 11

I just upgraded to Win 8.1 and now some things I want to print are not formatted properly. I've updated the drivers and the print doctor doesn't find anything wrong. The issue I see is when trying to print a shipping label, the label components are overlapping. On another computer it is fine and prints fine. Help?

  • BIAS SoundSaver Input Level Not Working after upgrade from Win 8 to 8.1

Have been using BIAS SoundSaver for INport software to digitize music LPs and cassette tapes to load on MP3 player.  Worked fine with Windows 8.  However, now that I have upgraded to Win 8.1, I can get sound of LPs and cassette tapes but the Input Level that controls the recording level on the software no longer functions.  My computer is an HP ENVY Phoenix h9-1355 Desktop Computer with IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. I am wondering if the problem may be with the audio drivers installed on the computer.

    Hi @Alkay
I see that you are having sound issues after your 8.1 upgrade. Did you update to the 8.1 versions of the drivers?
They may be found here: HP ENVY Phoenix h9-1355 Desktop PC Drivers
Is it only the one application seeing this problem?

  • Bluetooth does not work well after upgrade to win 8.1 from win 8

    System:                       Dell Inspiron 15R 5520
    Bluetooth hardware:   Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 + High Speed Adapter
                                         Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
Ever since I upgraded from Win 8 to 8.1, the bluetooth has not been working well.
The option to browse a remote folder or send a file does not work.
I can send a file only by opening the contaning folder, right click, and send to bluetooth, but cannot receive a file unless I go to
run and then open fsquirt.exe .
I have unpaired and uninstalled the devices respectively, and then reinstalled and repaired them. But this does not work .either.
Unfortunately, I am unable to paste  screenshots of the device manager and error messages until I am verified.
Can anyone give me a solution to this problem?

Verify that you have the latest drivers for Windows 8.1 installed from the manufacturer's website.

  • MSI GT70 202US upgraded to win 8.1. Lots of issues

    hi,
i recently upgraded my msi gt70 202us from win 7 to win 8.1 to increase the performance on BF4.
i am facing alot of problems. i just hate this lan card. bigfoot killer networks has the most unreliable hardware and drivers. i cant get the software or the drivers to install. upon trying to install the latest version Bigfoot Networks Killer Network Manager 6.1.0.603 (64Bit) i am getting an error saying
"Your hardware is not supported on this version of windows. The installer cannot continue"
although this version is compatible with win 8.1 as said on the website.
I am trying to just install the drivers and that is not working either.
I tried installing the earlier version, that didnt help either.
and i cannot get the keyboard backlight to work or the eject cd tray option. can someone please help me with this.
and on additional note i would like to update the bios aswell. can someone please help me with that too. I havent updated my bios ever, but i have upgraded from win 7 to 8.1. as i read somewhere upgrading the bios on my model which came with win 7 is not suitable. is there a safe way to update bios.

    Quote from: James D on 24-December-13, 03:10:50
If your laptop came with Windows 7 then you should install Windows 7 BIOS only. However if you want all keys work then install Firmware for Windows 8.
    Again, James, you are wrong.
Re-read your sentence again (if you can understand your own sentences).....
They do NOT need to install the Firmware (or EC firmware) in order for it to work in Windows 8. They need to stay with the Windows 7 EC firmware that originally came installed on their laptop. SCM and everything else work just fine under Windows 8 (and 8.1.....if it works at all) using the EC firmware for Windows 7. How do I know this? I have a Windows 7 based GT70 with everything working fine in Windows 8. Not only this, but it's been said over and over and over. Apparently still hasn't sunk in yet though for some people.
Its ok, these things can get very confusing for some people.

  • Can't activate secure boot after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 8 on a Spectre XT

    Hi everybody,
my first post here, so please forgive me if the topic has already been discussed
I did search before posting anyway, but I couldn't found anything addressing this specific point.
My (small, I must admit) problem is as follows:
    I recently purchased a Spectre XT 13-2005tu (i7 processor, 4Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD) with Windows 7 pre-installed.
After installing my favourite applications and using it for a few weeks without any trouble, I thought to take the opportunity of the $14.99 upgrade to Win 8, so I downloaded Windows 8 Pro and installed it (as an upgrade, rather than a fresh installation, because I didn't want to loose the customizations I already made).
I also installed all the updates available on HP website (sp59158 for updated BIOS, sp58404 for UEFI support, ecc.)
The whole upgrade worked nicely, and the PC is now up and running with Win 8.
Now, I'm trying to use at best all the possibilities Win 8 has to offer, and among them, the UEFI secure boot.
I found the "legacy support" option in the BIOS settings, which as I understand must be disabled to activate the UEFI secure boot, but if I do that the PC tells that there's no operating system on the disk and doesn't boot anymore.
Which was a bit scary by the way, but eventually I could re-enable the legacy support in the BIOS and have the PC working again, but of course with no secure boot.
I suppose there must be some other re-configuration that should be done before changing the BIOS parameter, but I couldn't find any instruction for that anywhere on the web.
On the other hand, it would be indeed weird if the secure boot could not be configured AFTER the OS upgrade, and a new fresh installation would be necessary.
I'd rather part with the secure boot than re-install everything, but that would be a shame... :-(
I hope someone can explain what should be done, many thanks in advance!

Thanks for your feedback, but I don't think your issue is the same as the one I previously explained.
The UEFI/secure boot setting is a basic configuration affecting the way the PC boots, regardless of whether it is connected to a network or not.
By the way, in the meantime I've seen in a shop exactly the same PC model which I'm using, now sold with Win 8 pre-installed, and it was working with the UEFI enabled (= BIOS "legacy support" disabled).
Therefore, the configuration I'm interested in has to be feasible, one way or another...!

  • No sound on my G580 Notebook after upgrading to win 8.1

SInce upgrading to Win 8.1 on my 64bit Lenovo G580 notebook I kept receiving a message about Dolby driver problems (my sound did work though).  Then I thought I would get rid of this message - update Dolby drivers - and followed advice on the internet.  As I remember, this advice told me to uninstall all sound / dolby drivers and then install new drivers.
In doing this I somehow also uninstalled Dolby PCEE4 drivers for my G580.
I subsequently installed the latest G580 conexant drivers but with no success.  I can "see" that the drivers are working (when I click on the sound icon bottom right of the desktop), but there is no sound.  Other internet advice has been to obtain PCEE4 drivers - but I don't find any files from Lenovo to download.
I've tried to reload Dolby Advanced Audio V2, but it ends prematurely with the prior message that PCEE needs to be installed.
    Can someone please assist?

  • Upgrading to Win 8.1

In looking through some driver updates available for my system, I see a number of drivers that say "provides the driver for systems upgrading to Windows 8.1". 1. Is this referring to upgrading from 8.0 or Win 7?2. There are a number of Intel related drivers which are indicated for update. Would it be wise to update these?  a. Chipset for SMBus Controller  b. Management Engine Interface  c. Intel 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (I believe this is the Rapid Storage Technology driver) Thanks,   JohnD

I finally upgraded to Win 8.1 over the weekend. Actually Microsoft did the upgrade. When I attempted to do it, my system just hung on the Windows Store with the little revolving busy indicator. I had no idea what was going on so I contacted MS. I allowed one of their tech people to log into my system. He tried a few things which did not work. He eventually installed a bunch of updates. This also did not help completely although at this point it was at least giving me the download page but saying that it could not do the upgrade. The MS Tech dug out another update from the MS Support site and eventually the download began. At one point the install stopped and said that it needed to uninstall my printer software and drivers in order to continue. I don't now why as the software was supposedly Win 8.1 compliant. We said yes and then completed the install after which I installed the same printer software/drivers that was originally installed. No problems. Why the 8.1 install did not like it is beyond me.  Win 8.1 did upgrade a number of drivers so I am going with them unless an issue arises. I had no problem with the Ralink Wireless Adapter. The install put in an upgraded driver for it and all seems to be ok with it. I hope the upgrade to Win 10 is a little less eventful. JohnD

  • Win 8 problem

I have not beern able to authorize my laptop since I put Win 8 on it in February 2012.,

You are not the only one with this problem. We have 2 X1 Carbons that were upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 on delivery.  Result is 1  has working H5321 and the other has the same symptoms as you. Lenovo support have changed the module, and then changed the complete motherboard to try and fix the problem. Neither fixed it, so they said that as the X1 Carbon was factory shipped with Win7, then the supported solution is to return it to Win7.
Not a good outcome as a supplied Win8 ready PC, upgraded using the Lenovo Win8 upgrade programme.
Lenovo have a problem - acknowledge it and fix it!

  • Sound Blaster X-Fi Win 7 problems

Been using X-Fi (0640) for years with XP using analog outs for gaming, COAX and TOSLINK spdif for audio (feeding to two stereos)
But "upgrading" to Win 7 broke the COAX output. It will work immediately following reboot but then stops working.
The new Windows controls allows setting either the "speakers" or "spdif-OUT" as default per this:
    http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowA...aspx?sid=64440
Can't seem to get both to work at same time with the COAX.
None of the newer Creative cards provide both COAX and TOSLINK SPDIF output as well as analog as far as I can see.
Is there a better driver than SBXF_PCDRV_L11_2_18_0015A ?? Or should I look for a different brand card?
