IQ775 touchsmart - how to replace HD power & data cables

HP IQ775 needs a new data & power cable for the Hard drive.  Advise the proper disassebly process or advise where I can get a manual for this

If there is something in the way remove the screws that hold the item that is in the way, write down how you do it or take photos, then reverse the procedure when you put it back together.
The CD ROM will probably have a couple of screws in the sides, remove them and it will slide out of the way, trained monkeys can build these, so work backwards.

  • How to Replace Power Supply

I'm stuck with what I thought was going to be an easy job - compared to a G5 tower or an iMac.
I need to replace the power supply in my Mac Pro (2008) but I'm stuck at getting the small cover off. I've removed the metal plate that was under the optical drives (POV when looking through the side). But it seems there's a small cover for the power supply that's similar to the big processor cover for the liquid cooled G5 towers. I can't figure out how to remove that.
Does anyone have a link to a manual or take-apart guide for the Mac Pro?
    Thanks!

Before you begin, open the computer, lay it on its side with the access side facing up, and remove
    the following:
    • Hard drives and hard drive carriers in drive bays 3 and 4
    • Optical drive carrier and optical drives
    • Any PCI Express cards that block access to the power supply mounting screws
    1. Using a short-handled, magnetized 2.5 mm hex screwdriver, remove the four power supply
mounting screws from the bottom of the media shelf.
    2. Depress the upper right corner of the power supply and slide the power supply toward the
    front of the computer.
    3. Lift the power supply a short distance and rest it on the edge of the enclosure.
    4. Starting with the top connector and working down, disconnect the four connectors on the
power supply cable from the four connectors on the power harness cable. Note: You must release the locking latch on each power supply cable connector before detaching the connector.
    5. Remove the power supply from the enclosure.
    Replacing the Power Supply:
    1. Rest the power supply on the edge of the enclosure so that its cable can reach the media
shelf divider. Note: The following four steps explain how to reconnect the power supply cable connectors with the power harness connectors. When the power harness connectors are in their original position in the media shelf divider, it is not possible to see where they mate with the power
supply cable connectors. Therefore, the next step shows how to temporarily remove the power harness connectors from the divider for a better line of sight.
    2. Starting with the top connector and working down, release the four power harness cable
connectors from their openings in the media shelf divider. Note: Each connector has two locking latches that hold it to the divider. To release the connector, depress the bottom latch first and then the top latch. You may find a flat-blade screwdriver useful in depressing the latches.
    3. Placing a hand on either side of the media shelf divider, thread the J1 connector on the power supply cable through the top connector opening in the media shelf divider and connect it to the PS1 connector on the power harness. Repeat for the other three power supply cable connectors.
    4. Important: The first three connectors on the power supply cable are marked J1, J2, and J3; the fourth connector is not marked. The four connectors on the power harness cable are marked PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. You must connect J1 to PS1, J2 to PS2, etc.
    5. Starting at the bottom connector and working up, depress the locking latches on each power harness connector and reinsert it into its opening in the media shelf divider. Important: Test that all power supply cable connectors and power harness connectors are fully seated by tugging on the cables on both sides of each of the four paired connectors.
    6. Fold the power supply cable on the bottom of the power supply bay.
7.Lift the power supply and holding the power supply at an angle, llower it into the enclosure until its
upper right corner slides under the corner lip of the enclosure.
    8. Slide the power supply toward the back of the computer as far as possible.
    9. Make sure the power receptacle aligns with the opening in the enclosure’s back panel and
the four screw holes in the power supply align with the screw holes in the media shelf.
    10. Replace the four power supply mounting screws.

  • Hp m7260n power switch cable assembly

i need to replace the power switch cable assembly on my m7260n computer. Can anyone help me with the part number. HP only gives a response of these parts no longer available and online chat help gave me the wrong part # (it was for the bezel). Perhaps there is a parts diagram online?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sorry, but your PC is almost eight years old. That is why it is so difficult to find parts for it. You will probably have better success finding a second hand non-working PC of the same type to use as a parts bin. You will likely find eBay to be a good resource. I found this switch online today.

  • How can i recover my data from an old hard drive after replacing it?

How can I recover my data from an old hard drive after replacing it?

Internal or external hard drive? Was the drive still working before you replaced it?

  • Hard drive crashed. how to replace?  how to recover data?

My 1st gen 12" aluminum PB with the 60gig hard drive crashed on me. Over the years it has been dropped twice from a 3ft high table onto a concret floor(KIDS!!).
Then one day while using excel the colored wheel appeared and never went away.
When I start it up I get the question mark for a second then just stuck on the apple screen.
Tried disk utilities, target disk mode, etc. I really beleive the disk is toast.
I just bought the new iMac G5 and the new iPod video so I have a replacement on the way.
I still want my PB and i really need some of the data off of the drive. A few files did not get backed up before it crashed.
Question 1: can you reccommend a place to get a new hard drive for it and a new battery? I have been looking on eBay already.
Question 2: How can i get the data off the old drive? I tried booting in Target Disk mode and hooking into my other laptop via firewire but the drive would not mount so i could not get the files I need off of it. I don't want to spend a fortune at one of those data recovery places.

I have a similar problem, but in a sense it was caused by a glitch in TechTool Pro 4.
disk utility had indicated that I had a couple of bad blocks in my start up disk and recommended that it be replaced. Since I already had a second internal hard drive with plenty of room on it, I simply installed OS 10.4 on the second hard drive and designated it as the startup drive.
Then I ran maintenance on the problem drive. After spending an hour or more grinding through every sector it appeared that the drive would pass master. However for some reason it hung up, stopped making progress and disabled my computer, i.e., I could move the cursor but could not click anything or select anything. Finally my only choice was to manually shut down and restart. Restart seemed to work fine except the disk on which I was performing maintenance did not show up on the desktop.
Finally I was able to locate it using disk utility and discovered that the mount point was missing and it was not mounted. Of course this is what I should have expected since techtool pro unmounts a drive while it performs maintenance and when I had to interrupt, it did not remount.
I spent three days trying to find a way to remount it, including downloading MountMe. Strangely when I ran MountMe it recognized the drive and gave me a successful remount message, but the drive was not actually remounted according to disk utility.
I have moved the drive to a different G-4 with no more success.
So, first I suggest you be cautious about the data rescue software or drive maintenance software.
Now for my greatest problem -- I had used Backup from .Mac but apparently was not careful enough about where the backup file was located. Generally I download to my desktop and then if I want to save a download I move it to an appropriate location. Unwisely I had done the same with backup which means of course that when the old startup drive crashed it took my desktop files with it.
Included among those backups were all of my financial records (Quicken) for the year. Three checking accounts, all of my credit card accounts, all of my business accounts, etc. I am talking about days of contacting credit card companies and banks for replacement of records for the year and, worse yet, they don't have the details in their files regarding the accounts to be charged nor do they have any info about inter account transfer, etc., etc., etc.
So, I am looking for a reasonably priced service provider to copy my defective hard drive for me. I don't think there is any problem with the data on the drive, I just can't get it remounted.
Maybe someone knows how to work around the mount point problem????
My main desktop computer is a G-4 quicksilver with dual 800, OS 10.4.3 and 1.4 GB of memory.
    thanks,
    John Cleek

How to replace content in text data type?
when we sending the mails we are taking content from the database.
The data is maintained in text data type column. Now i have to replace some of content in mail content
(text data type column) from database.
I tried by using REPLACE function but data is truncated

The data is maintained in text data type column.
    Hello,
    See REPLACE (Transact-SQL) => "If
string_expression is not of type varchar(max) or
    nvarchar(max), REPLACE
truncates the return value at 8,000 Bytes"
You may should consider to Change the data type from "Text" (deprecated) to NVarChar(max).
    Otherwise you have to use
UPDATETEXT (Transact-SQL) for the text data type.

  • How to replace Power Supply in Pavilion 6535

    Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion 6535.  I want to replace the power supply.  I'm able to disconnect cables from the HDD, floppy and CDROM, but I don't know how to reach the cable connections to the motherboard and the fan cable.  They seem to be tucked behind the CDROM and inaccessible.
I think I can see the very top of the motherboard connector, but it seems like I'd need to go in blind and follow the wires with my fingers to be able to get to the connectors and disconnect them.  This method doesn't seem like a good approach, so I haven't tried it yet.
It makes me think I'm missing something and that there must be another opening that makes the motherboard more easily accessed.
I don't have any experience fixing PCs, but the basic instructions for replacing a power supply seem so simple that I thought I could do it (see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph05729&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=59370).
Am I mistaken and should go to a repair shop or are there instructions somewhere that make it clear how to reach the 6535's motherboard/fan connectors?  (I've searched the web unsuccessfully for such instructions.)
    Thanks for any help.

  • How to replace power adapter for PowerBook G4

I have a three year old powerbook G4 and the power adapter is toast (at least I think that's the problem). Doesn't charge and no illuminated ring around the connector to the computer.
Does anyone know how to replace this? Can't find it anywhere online or at Mac retailers.
    Thanks.

Replace the power adapter plug? Most folks won't bother, it's a hassle. The whole adapter is easily available from any Mac vendor. But before replacing anything, have you tried the following:
-reset the Power Management Unit (PMU)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431?viewlocale=en_US
    -reset the PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431?viewlocale=en_US
-unplug the power adapter from the wall socket for a while to reset.

  • Power Supply problems? how to replace

i think my power supply started making a buzzing noise tonight. i opened my mac up and vacuumed it out, ran the apple hardware test, and the noise is still there. it is not loud, and it sounds like it is coming from the back bottom corner where the power supply sits.
i checked http://www.apple.com/support/powermac/powersupply/repairextension/ and my serial # is in the range that might have faulty power supplies.
the problem is apple won't replace it until it fails completely. i want to avoid that, so how do i know for sure it's the power supply making noise? if so, where do i buy a new one? the apple store doesn't seem to sell them.

that's a bummer that yours died completely. mine made that noise for 2 days, then the noise went away. in the past week it did it again, for about 12 hours.
i'm out of luck with the 3 year deal. i called apple store to see if i can order a replacement power supply and they had no idea what i was talking about. the guy pretended he did, then told me it would cost $40 to get a new cable to "plug my mac in". they didn't even know what a power supply was.
so do you have to send your computer in to apple to have it "repaired" or is it just dead? i'm curious because i wonder how much apple charges to replace the power supply, or if i can purchase one somewhere else and replace it myself.

  • How much for the power button replacement?

Power button for my iphone 5 can't work, can't power on/off or wake/sleep the device, have to plug in PC for power on, the apple warranty service for my iphone has expired,so, how much for the power button replacement?

Out of warranty replacement thru apple is $269.00 USD.  That includes a 90 day warranty on the replacement device.  You might want to check for repair shops that will just repair the power button, but since your warranty is expired, that might be a cheaper option for you.
