IQ810 connect to a PS2

Hi, looking to connect a PS2 to my IQ800 Touchsmart. I know that the S-VIDEO connection on the touch smart is only for video capture. Anyway to do this? Maybe some sort of USB to S-Video Adapter? Any ideas?
Thanks Lewis

I've heard it can be done, but runs slow.  Haven't tried it yet.
I'm playing the pc version of Silent Hill Homecoming on my Touchsmart right now and it runs great, I notice no difference in game performance from the PS2 games to playing pc on Touchsmart.
I would suggest trying a few sites like Gamestop and some of the sites that specialize in PS2 and see if you can find more info over there.  There probably is a better adapter to use for it.

• Windows user needs help connecting PS2

Please, I'm begging for some help. Here's my situation:
I'm a windows user (I know, I'm sorry). My set-up is this. I have a DSL modem connected to a D-LINK DI-614+ wireless router. I have a laptop running Windows XP. I bought an Airport Express for two reasons:
My office is where my wireless router is connected. My PS2 is in the living room, along with my stereo. I want be able to BOTH stream music from iTunes to my stereo, AND use the Airport Express to connect my PS2 to the internet. I hate having to run a 100 ft. ethernet cable across the house to get online.
How do I set this up?
Thanks,
Rob

Sorry... but you can't do this.
The ethernet port on the Airport Express is only active when the Airport Express is configured as a remote base station in a wireless distribution system (WDS). Problem is, your D-Link wireless router does not support Apple's implementation of a WDS. You must use your Airport Express in wireless client mode with your D-Link wireless router - a mode in which Airtunes may be streamed to the Airport Express, but the Airport Express ethernet port is inactive.
You will need to use different method of connecting your PS2 to your wireless network. Linksys, D-Link, and Netgear all sell "wireless game adapters" designed specifically for this purpose.

• Ps2 connection help

How do I get a connection for my ps2? I have a WRT54G hooked to my pc downstairs and ps2 is upstairs. what do i connect my ps2 to?

No, if your PS2 has a built-in wireless adapter, it should be this way...
modem----router----PC  )))))))))))))))))))))  PS2
You would need the ff settings to connect your PS2 to the router:
► SSID
► WEP encryption (if any)

I am currently trying to utilize a barcode scanner that is connected via a ps2 port. It works similarly to a keyboard.
However, i have a problem taking signals from a ps2 port, as i do not know any function that could do that in LabVIEW.

• MSI NEO4 Platinum - Upgrade to bios 1.5 - ps2 mouse connector don't work

I've upgraded just today the bios of my NEO4 to the ver. 1.5. At reboot, i've set all bios parameters like they were before upgrade; now the mouse, if connected to the ps2 with an adaptor for usb mouse, don't work at all. Previously it was connected in the same way and the system was running with ver. 1.1 bios.

Have you tried just connecting the mouse to the USB port? Tried all ports? Tried a regular PS2 mouse just to test?
Did you look for any new settings that may have been added since the1.1 BIOS, Did you take notes?
Did you look for any hidden BIOS features?
Perhaps the settings you used previously just don't work the same way or may behave differently (perhaps like they are supposed to)
Maybe a setting you didn't consider before is now necessary since the upgrade.
Nothing is ever black and white with this stuff, my point is, leave no stone unturned...that should keep you busy in the interim until someone likely comes up with a better solution or suggestion.

• Java.lang.VerifyError - Incompatible object argument for function call

Hi all,
I'm developing a JSP application (powered by Tomcat 4.0.1 in JDK 1.3, in Eclipse 3.3). Among other stuff I have 3 classes interacting with an Oracle database, covering 3 use cases - renaming, adding and deleting an database object. The renaming class simply updates the database with a String variable it receives from the request object, whereas the other two classes perform some calculations with the request data and update the database accordingly.
When the adding or deleting classes are executed, by performing the appropriate actions through the web application, Tomcat throws the following:
java.lang.VerifyError: (class: action/GliederungNewAction, method: insertNewNode signature: (Loracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnection;Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;I)V) Incompatible object argument for function call

         at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(ApplicationFilterChain.java:247)
...The renaming works fine though. I have checked mailing lists and forums as well as contacted the company's java support but everything I have tried out so far, from exchanging the xerces.jar files found in JDOM and Tomcat to rebuidling the project didn't help.
I just can't explain to myself why this error occurs and I don't see how some additional Java code in the other 2 classes could cause it?
I realize that the Tomcat and JDK versions I'm using are totally out of date, but that's company's current standard and I can't really change that.
Here's the source code. I moved parts of the business logic from Java to Oracle recently but I left the SQL statements that the Oracle stored procedures are executing if it helps someone.

I need to design an application to use a pc as a Keyboard using the serial port as an output to be connected to a ps2 port or serial port keyboard of another pc.
Is it possible? Anyone Knows a solution or an example?
I've seen a lot of examples about capturing keyboard events, but not about this case.
Thanks in advance,
Silvia

One more thing I wanted to add is that since am not using a computer at the receiving end, the output data from the PC serial port has to be in PS2 format. But reading articles on some websites (http://www.computer-engineering.org/ps2keyboard/) it seems like I will need a 8042 keyboard controller to deal with all the handshaking and signal level protocol as the RS232 serial port protocol is quite different from that of the PS2 protocol.
In the setup that I have, at the receiving end of the keyboard data I have a PCB (that has a ST uPSD3354DV microprocessor), that reads the PS2 input and displays it on an onboard LCD screen.
So based on this information, if someone can provide me with some ideas or suggestions, that would be great.
Thank you in advance,
Shoab

• SCCM 2012 SUP locations

What is a best practice for SUP Installation.
I have read that if your SUP goes down , the clients will assign to another SUP and at that time re-scan for entire catalog (a lot of traffic)
So if we keep only one SUP in the primary location and it goes down , Clients will not fallback to other SUP as there in none in hierarchy , but rather fallback to Microsoft Updates.
Does anyone have suggestions for SUP placements in a environment of around 9K clients
PS1 - Clients 2500  (EMEA) --- 40 MB connection with HQ
PS2 - Clients 1800  (EMEA) --- 100 MB connection with HQ
PS3 - Clients 1700  (EMEA) --- HQ Primary location
PS4 - Clients 1400  (EMEA) --- 100 MB connection with HQ
PS5 - Clients 800    (Americas) --- 100 MB connection with HQ
PS6 - Clients 425   (Asia)  --- 2 MB connection with HQ
PS7 - Clients 175   (EMEA) --- 100 MB connection with HQ
PS8 - Clients 170   (Africa) --- 4MB Connection with HQ

That's why you place two SUPs in the central location (avoid the use of the word "primary" unless you are actually talking about a primary site or primary site server other your meaning may be ambiguous) whose underlying WSUS instances use the same
DB. If one goes down, then the rescan penalty is almost nothing because they are using the same DB.
Note that the use of multiple SUPs within a single primary site is for availability only though. Also note that the SUP itself isn't anything the client's know about or use, they use the underlying WSUS instance. Thus, there are ways of controlling which
WSUS instance clients use via Group Policy Preferences but the less micro-management you do, the better things work.
Also, clients will *never* fallback to Microsoft Updates for scanning. That would make no sense because only your WSUS instances have your update catalog to scan against.
And finally, is high availability of update scanning truly something you need to worry about? What's exactly is your SLA for update scanning and isn't simply building a new SUP sufficient?
(Not trying to say it's not valid or that you shouldn't have multiple SUPs, just trying to make you think about what you're doing. Also, "best practice" implies there's only one good way to do something and that everyone should do it that way which means
everyone is the same which is not true. Thus you need to design things specific to your environment based on the knowledge of how the components work. Relying on so-called "best practices" effectively means you're just guessing.)

• Macbook air 2012 usb issues

I am having having trouble getting the Macbook to detect my Microsoft keyboard (connected using a PS2 to USB cable). Some of the issues I see are
1. Keyboard does not work when plugged into the left or the right USB connector, when computer is running. USB mouse seems to be fine.
2. Macbook hangs (at grey screen on startup) when keyboard is plugged into the left USB connector and computer is rebooted.
3. Keyboard works fine if notebook is restarted with USB plugged onto the right side. However it will not work again if I unplug it and plug it back again.
4. I tried connecting a Nikon camera at home, and that is not detected either.
Can someone suggest any possible fixes for these problems?

• WRT54G and Playstation problems

Hello,
I have the WRT54G router v. 4 and I am connected to my playstation 2 through an ethernet cable.  I have my PS2 assigned a static IP address and have disabled UPnP (I read somewhere this solves many PS2 connectivity problems).
My wireless connection is nearly flawless and never goes out.  However, my wired connection to my PS2 goes out quite often.  I also receive "can not connect to ISP" messages sometimes when trying to connect online.
What is the problem and what can I do to establish a more reliable connection?
Thanks.

Try this link to configure the Play Station with the router .....
Hope it works ....

• :censored: cant MSI fix this mess up?

I am so tired of it already.
My 645E Max2 is so crappy.
First it says my keyboard is connected incorrectly in PS2 then tells me to press F1 to continue.
Then is takes forever to auto detect my HDDs.
Next is that it always crashes at default BIOS setting.
Now, it wont even detect my mouse.
MSI, please fix this problem.
I dont want to get mad anymore. Its very exhausting.
Please fix these problems.  If you will not do anything about this, be prepared to LOOSE MANY CUSTOMERS.
I will do everything in my power to EXPOSE ALL the complains that you are not acting upon and also use all my business contacts and TELL THEM NOT TO BUY ANY OF YOUR PRODUCTS.
and I have a HUGE business contacts.  Why, you might even loose some DISTRIBUTORS.

Why would he email Assaf directly?  Assaf is the forum moderator not official MSI support.  If you want to contact MSI about a problem, [email protected] is the proper contact... unless of course Assaf likes getting email for support requests .

• Can't find the proper node

I'm using a usb modem and every 15-20 minutes my usb ports lose power, and it shuts down my internet so i have to manually unplug it to get it working again.I have a ps2 to usb adapter and im going to see if that helps with the power loss but im not sure which node to us to update my wvdial.conf file.Ive tried using ls -d /dev/* but i just get a list with all my nodes and no way to tell which one is connected to my ps2 ports besides try them all which wouldn't be a problem but there's at least 200 of them.
thx
I found the node /dev/input but i can use it to connect,i get a message saying  Cannot open /dev/input: Is a directory

Well yeah.. /dev/input/ is indeed a directory, and it is also to do with input devices (keyboards, mice, etc) and not serial devices like your modem.
Instead of attempting to use your serial port, try to debug the original problem. For a start, check your logs before and after the connection fails.

• Devices remain on even after shutdown

Since installing BIOS 1.4, or since converting my IDE drives into Promise RAID-0, I have noticed that my peripherals do not turn off after shutdown.  My keyboard lights turn off, but the optical laser on my mouse stays on, as does the LED on my joystick.  However, if I unplug the computer and plug it back in, the devices remain off.  Can anyone help me out?

I have the same probelm with my system, my micorsoft optical mouse stays on after power down. It only started after I upgraed to BIOS v1.4. However, here's a link to a microsoft support articel about this (atricle 325975 at the knowledge base)  ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325975&Product=hdw). It's apparently not a big deal and it happens. I haven't tried switching over to the USB port yet for my mouse, it's still in the PS2. My only reason for not wanting the light on, is I wonder if it degrades the life of the mouse? The microsoft atrcile says "If the continuous mouse light is acceptable to you, you can safely leave the mouse connected to the PS2 port. ". However, that might be covert talk for "please leave it plugged in so it dies sooner and you have to buy a new one and fatten Bill Gates' wallet". Anyway, I don't think it's a huge issue. Odd that it only happens with v1.4 though....

• Damaged GFX-card or AGP-port? (Fx5700 Ultra)

Hi
Before I decide to return my gfx-card to the store where I bought it I thought I'd ask you experts what you think of the problem. I would hate to get a new card back and still have "the problem". This is what happened...
Few days back decided to play some CounterStrike: Source, as I've done hundreds of times with this comp. and setup before. Suddenly my FPS drops to 5 and ping goes up to 600+. I checked Task-manager and CPU-usage was going from 20% to 99% with like 1 second intervals. Rebooted etc. and decided it was a problem with CS:s. I tried watching a movie and same thing happened (CPU going crazy and FPS dropping/topping all the time).
I then tried drivers, update MB etc. Nothing worked. So I put in my old GFX-card instead, a GF 4400 Ti, and everything worked like a charm! Video ran smooth and rames ran ok (obviously not as good as with the fx5700). I tried installing my FX5700 again, thinking it might have been a temporary thing, but the problem was/is still here.
Now my GF5700 Ultra ran at 8x AGP, and the old 4400 Ti only ran 4x AGP. So what do you guys think the problem might be ... GFX-card breakdown or AGP (MB) that no longer can handle 8x AGP (for whatever reason)?
Sorry about the long post but I thought I'd give as much info as possible in my first post
and no, no overclocking of any kind have been done. I tried to downclock the 5700 Ultra but problem stayed the same.
Anyone wanna give it a shot or do you need additional info?
Thanks

yeh ok. I have kind of found the problem, but will post my PSU-specs first for you to comment (I can always buy a better one anyway)
300W
+5V - 30A
+12V - 10A
-5V - 0.5A
-12V - 0.8A
+3.3V - 14A
+5V grnd - 2A
My GFX-card is broke tho. I just tested it on my buddies computer, who has a 400W PSU, and he got EXACTLY the same problems as I've experienced. What I find particularly odd tho is that I've been having mouseproblems for about 1 month - mouse going crazy once every hour (differs) by lagging ALOT (like the CPU didn't give it any room to even calculate movement etc.). Also I could not boot my computer when mouse was connected to the PS2-port (only USB worked). When my buddy tried my GFX-card he got not only the exact same graphical bugs but his mouse went crazy too - lagging and wouldn't boot if it was connected to PS2-port.
I find this very odd but atleast it proves that the GFX-card is the problem (but how can it be creating PS2-port shutdowns?).
Think I should invest in a new PSU to be on the safe side tho? I will return my GFX-card to get a new one ofcourse. Hope this is not a reaccuring thing for this model.
Thanks
