IQ826t Restart and Heating Issue
One thing I definitely do not like the HP's support especially when they will not allow us to buy a 7 Upgrade from Vista nor will they support something (even when I find their glitches and they admit after telling me it was just the OS).. On Repair work, I had to ship it out and this will be my 2-3 time to do repair on this PC in the past 3 years (and I have to wait a week for the repair to be done...)
Besides that, IQ826t, Win 7 Ultimate SP1
All Drivers are up to date with HP website (utilizing Win 7 64 bit drivers and Firmware is up to date). AVG update/scan (no issue - confirmed even rootkit).. Malwarebyte - Scan and no issue
Disk Cleanup, Disk Defragmentation done on a monthly and quarterly schedule
Biggest Issue:
I am getting a crash with Win 7 0x124 Stop Error Message (happens periodically and even after a reboot)
Never had this issue until May and the upgrade to Win 7 was done last year with SP1 update done on March (so it is not an issue with the OS as HP support personnel seems to think... I proved them the issue with Windows Update History, The Bluescreen error code on my error code reader).. This machine under warranty and I had issues with it constant (even in Vista)
They state that it is the OS.. Again, if that was the case, I would think it would happen right away like my Toshiba on SP1 upgrade... That was not the case in the matter. I have a firmware reset (default settings) and the issue persist..
The Error Code relates always HAL.dll or ntoskrnl.exe
One if hardware compatiblity and the other is an OS kernel exe file.. And this usually checking knowledge base relates to hardware failing due to 1) Compatibility (which HP website confirms is not the case) 2) OS corruption (which is not the case checking on safe mode and this happening STILL 3) Heat Issue (which I believe is the issue and was been documented on the Internet
What I am noticing is the unit is extremely HOT (vent is almost burning when it has been off and just turned on).. I wonder if the hardware pieces are literally melting to destruction since I can't just open it up (they state it will void my warranty)
The Symptoms before the Crash (happens any time.. Even right after a power up)
If you are playing audio or video, you will start to hear jitters and sound seems to echo itself .. Video would start to lag and become choppy.. Systems start to slow down and things seem to run very slow.. I have seen the power light on the PC start on but the touchscreen just go black (will not restart sometimes)..
Minor Issues (but could be related)
1) When running PC Hardware Diagnostic, they will come up with an error code in the past and that was warranted for a motherboard replacement (of course, they ship the box to the wrong location and I was in the middle of my wedding so I get to it now).. It was pertaining to PCI Express Status ICH9 PCI Express Root Port where it will generate an error code... Now, running the diagnostic... I will not get any error but PCI Express Root Port 3 & 5 do not show up on the diagnostic... Wouldn't that obvious show something that is a problem when there are 6 ports (which on the previous diagnostic that I can't grab past logs shows that). That is not warranted for a warranty work? Just a note, I got the fail test code (which was intermittent but keep happening and the tech support would not look at previous case.. Port 4 failed and a fatal device code)
2) Blu-Ray player will not run and their answer is that it is your Blu-Ray until they realize that I ran it on 3 different Blu-Ray player standalone, different Blu-Ray, and confirm DVD will work.. They still think it is a software issue until they can't deny my point when it will not read the Blu-Ray no matter what (they took control and confirmed it).. They believe the HP SmartDVD software was failing because of Win 7 and not Vista (even when I downgrade and confirm it works, I stated the software is the issue... Lone and behold, 2 months later they had an update that they refuse to admit I was RIGHT on the matter and done 15 hours of troubleshooting that they were wrong about)
3) Wireless Keyboard and Mouse lost connectivity even if the battery is not low... Just stop typing or omit letters.. This is considering the keyboard is literally in front of the touchscreen
4) Touchscreen is sensitive when it wants to be but won't in other... Constant issues there
This is why I have so much issue with support.. They seem to show that they will do anything to deny the issue.. Heck, I am a computer technian calling on the issue.. It ain't like I didn't troubleshoot on the matter... But they think we are all morons and when I prove them wrong, they will use any excuse to honor warranty... That is why it is amazing..

Gaming issues and heat issues, running windows 8.1 pro via bootcamp
I have a few problems, and I don't know what else to do, then to write for help here..
I really hope someone out there can help me, because I have had this problem since I bought my laptop mid 2012, and I got smarter since then, so now I know that I actually shouldn't have these problems, it's not because my very expensive laptop is bad, or that it is a laptop or because it's a mac, regardless of what people say, I'm positively certain that it's a problem which shouldn't be there.
I have pretty great specs, (trust me i checked them out, not the best in the world, but pretty good) yet I can't enjoy 1 single mmorpg game like, Tera, or the new Archeage (currently in open beta), or any other game, (swordsman online)... Even though people say Tera has bad coding, I have tried adjusting things for weeks if not months, NOTHING helps, i get a frame rate that is from 0-25 very unstable, usually around 7-12, and sure if I go the lowest settings in the games I can get very unstable framerates but i guess they can get up to around 35-72 but drops to like 7 or 3 sometimes as well, so even on the LOWEST settings in the games I can't enjoy the games fully... It lags and such because of the low fps ofc...
Other than that it also have a heat issue, mostly when running windows 8.1 in bootcamp.
It get's quite hot, just by opening a browser window, and yes i have tried reseting smc, and p-rams, many times.. nothing seems to help.
And even if it helped the heat problem, the gaming problem is still there.
Now to my specs: (I have the macbook pro retina, mid 2012, 15 inch)
- Prosseser: 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache. "Core i7" processor (3720QM)
- Memory: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
- Storage: 256GB ssd flash storage. (Seperated into os x = 130GB, windows 8.1 pro = 120GB) Running games and such from my 1TB external harddisk.
- Graphics and video support:
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, at millions of colors.
And here's a link to see what is inside it for yourself: http://http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core- i7-2.6-15-mid-2012-retina-display-specs.html
When that is said, apple's warranty has run out, and I didn't buy apple care, but I still have warranty from the store (humac) I bought it in, because in my country the law is warranty 2 years, no matter what, but if i can avoid it, I REALLY would like to avoid switching it out with a new one, since there could be problems all over again, and I would lose what I have on it right now, plus it's a hassle to get a new one, they will always try and fix it for a long long time before they give a new one, and probably can't find the problem...
But if that's the only thing i can do about it, I will ofc, but just don't advise me to do that, unless there's no other solution to the problems.
Please help me.
ps: sorry if I posted it the wrong place, I wasn't allowed to post it the right place by apple...If the underlying hardware was exposed correctly by the CSM-BIOS when Windows was installed, your Device Manager should look like this.
If the Windows installer did not see any devices as your screen indicates, Windows will use generic software-based drivers which will be very slow and painful.
Rudegar ... I think the Windows installer did not see any hardware, otherwise there should be HW with yellow triangles with exclamation marks. -
FMIS restarting and memory issue
I have Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5.5 on Windows 2008 server. I developed video chat application (many to many), it's only 1 FMS application with about 50-100 room instances and 1 lobby instance to which all users are connected. There are up to 600 - 700 users at a time which produce about 2000-2500 connections to FMS.
Problem I have is with steady raise of memory usage, which if goes little above 2GB will make FMS unresponsive and it would restart itself after about 1-2hours. To avoid that Im restarting FMS manualy every 3-4 days. Interesting thing I noticed is that if I restart FMS from admin console, used RAM memory won't fall at levels as if it would right after whole Windows server is restarted.
In my Application.xml there are following configs:
<Scope></Scope>
<Distribute numprocs="3">Instances</Distribute>
These are things from logs during FMS unresponsive period or right before it:

Please help me with this issue. Thanks for your answers, I'm replying with delay because I wanted to check these things some more.
When I said 'memory is not less', I meant that total memory in Windows after FMS restart doesn't return to memory levels when Windows is restarted, but I guess that's because of some Windows processes and not connected to FMS.
As for FMS processes, these are the things are notice, few hours after FMS restart I get 1 FMSCore.exe that is around 200-220MB, and 3-4 FMSCore's that are around 40-70MB. Size of that largest FMSCore.exe doesn't go down even when there are much less users connected to FMS. And like I said before, after 3 or more days of running FMS becomes unresponsive, and restarts itself. Right after FMS restart largest FMSCore.exe weights around 70MB but 15mins after it's already 120MB as users connect to video chat application.
As for logs, my core.log files have several lines like:

Fan issue making noise and heating issue
Hi,
My laptop fan is making noise like a car engine.Earliar i did nott realize it but since winters are here i can hear it clearly coz ciealing fan is not under use now. Also my laptop is quite heated below.I have read that dust can accumulate in vents but i cant see any. Also my previous laptop got killed becoz of this same issue.Hp should do something about it.Can a layman like me open the dv-4 version and clean the fan? It is out of warranty now and i dont want to spend on shop. But i saw a video HP laptops are complicated to open....and close.Watevr other advice u r most welcome to give regarding yhis issue.
thanksHP notebooks tend to run hot & thermal control is minimal effort in design & materials.
You can try clening with compressed air or a hoover perhaps but if looks clean & air sems to be flowing I expect it not the main issue.
You may also want to check running processes & CPU use as issues here & viruses can causes CPU load thus heat.
Also review notebook placed so vents are not blocked/restricted.
Use software such as HWinfo to review the actual temps of CPU GPU etc as helps see how much of an issue you really have.
HP laptops can be improved with thermal shims, ceramique paste, housing vent modifications & in extreme cases secondary case venting 25>30mm fan.
Not easy to do without some experience.

My macbook is running Mac OS X 10.7.1 (LION).
Everytime I try to restart Mac OS and load until the login page, I try to enter the password. Once I key in the first few character, the system hang and the spinning ball will keep spinning non stop.
May I know what is the problem? This sounds almost identical to the issue I've been ripping my hair out over for the last week (and so far you're the only other similar report I could find). Basically, ML frequently (but not always) fails to get to the login screen. The apple logo + spinnin cursor complete, but then I'm left with a blank, gray screen with a moveable (but useless) cursor.
I've tried reinstalling multiple times (clean, different partition / disk, updating previous 10.7 system, over virgin 10.7 system) to no avail. I've also tried the following with no luck:
- Disk Utility repair permissions & repair disk
- PRAM reset
- SMC reset
- Unplugging all USB & firewire devices except keyboard & mouse
- Replacing GTX-285 graphics card with stock GT-120
- Removing all other PCI cards
- Swapped monitor input from DVI-D to DVI-I, used different cable
I captured logs of a successful and failed boot, and the biggest difference I can spot is that while the Window Server seems to be adding + removing the monitor multiple times, on the failure the last entry is a disconnect:
7/31/12 9:16:06.058 AM WindowServer[117]: Received display connect changed for display 0x28d9b380
Whereas on login success, the last WindowServer log message is one that seems repeated multiple times previously:
7/31/12 9:44:10.924 AM WindowServer[102]: Display 0x28d9b380: MappedDisplay Unit 0; ColorProfile { 2, "LCD2490WUXi"}; TransferFormula (1.000000, 1.000000, 1.000000)
I'm definitely thinking it's something to do with the display (which functions perfectly fine under Lion), but can't think what it would be. It's an NEC 2490WUXi, and I'm connecting via a single DVI output on the graphics card (either GTX-285 or GT-120).
What display / graphics card combo are you using? -
Out of the blue my Z1C started to heat. A lot.
Also the aluminum flap cover of the SIM card protrudes and is not smooth. I had the phone protected by a cover all these 3 months + hence did not notice it. I went to Sony today and they acknowledged is not right and being under warranty offered to fix it. I went back home and tried to back it up as advised by Sony and surprise! I can not back it up. I have installed the latest PC companion. I have removed the SD card. I unchecked the pictures, video, music and kept only messages, notes, calls etc.
So I might loose **bleep** everything.
These while the phone is getting unusually hot up to 43 degrees C.
On top of the ever freezing camera.
I don't like to bash products and I learn to live with the flaws. However Sony disappointed.
Edit: I also restarted both computer and phone. The phone I have restrated in both normal and safe mode.Glad to hear that this got sorted; regarding the battery life, this can be a bit off for the first week or so after repair but tends to settle.

Hinge and heating Issues with my G560
I am facing the following issues with my G560. It was purchased on 11/26/2010.
Overheating - The laptop heats up and turns off after a continuous usage of 2-3 hours.
Hinges - The plastic portion covering the hinges came off within 6 months. I continued using the laptop and now the metal hinge has come out and the wires have come out and I think the hinge may have been broken as well since I see a metal portion protruding below the monitor.
Can someone help me understand how to get these fixed.Rajesh,
Welcome to the forum. I received your private message with additional information and based on your indicated purchase date, the system should be under warranty.
Since you are in warranty, both of these issues should be able to be addressed by service. The hinge sounds like it should be covered unless the system were dropped or otherwise incurred damage from use.
The number to call for support is 877-453-6686
Please follow up with me by private message if you need more help on this after calling support.
Apologies that you have troubles, but I feel confident that we should be able to resolve them.
Best regards,
Mark

Z4 Tablet and heating issues with Snapdragon 810 chipset
There is now clear evidence coming out of serious overheating problems with the Z4 phone in Asia, which has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset as the Z4 tablet. These overheating issues have been widely publicised with phones released already with this chipset by other manufacturers. Will Sony guarantee these issues will not occur with the larger Z4 Tablet (it's larger size may help dissipate heat, possibly)? If not, I wonder if I should be cancelling my pre-order
No overheating issues here after two weeks of heavy use. There is a spot that gets rather warm in the top middle (landscape) when really pushing it; but it's no worse than I've experienced with my iPads (for comparison). Battery life is excellent. I run it without a case, which I highly recommend. The type of plastic they use doesn't mar easily and is comfortable in the hand. I play games on it quite a bit.

Any suggestions?very interesting.....
Discovered that my CPU was running at 81 degrees Centigrade (176 degrees Fahrenheit) and the fan was at over 6,000 rpm with CPU usage at a constant 65% plus.
I opened the Activity Monitor and a single "Dashboard Client" was taking up 60% of my CPU. I closed every working program, Safari, Firefox and Wireless and was still over 60% CPU. I then, using the Activity Monitor, did a forced stop of the offending Dashboard Client.
Immediately my CPU usage dropped to 5%, the CPU temp dropped to 50 degrees and the fan dropped to 1750 rpm.
Even after restarting wireless and Safari and Dashboard widgets (I have about 13) the CPU %, CPU temp and fan speed stayed low.
And, my fully charged battery now shows 5 hours charge.
Seems that something was running in the background to consume a huge amount of CPU.
I will still do a calibration - have not ever done one - but it seems amazing that this could happen.
Any ideas as to what might have been happening? -

CUCM Version 7.1.5
Thanks in advanceHi Ian,
If you are using third generation phone(7970, 79x1, 79x2, 79x5), then there is no fix for it.
This is what I got latest update.
There are a couple of things that need to be kept in mind:
1. Phones will unregister from the CUCM and register to the SRST GW
2. GW will tear down Q.931 backhauling from CUCM and will function as a standalone call agent.
The phones will lose either SCCP or TCP keepalives. TCP keepalives being missed generally trigger SRST much faster than SCCP keepalives being missed.
The phones will register to the GW even if Q.931 backhauling has not been torn down. Hence, there might be a brief period where the phones have registered to the GW but the PRI is still MGCP controlled. In such a case, calls will initially fail. After some time (and this is post the 30 second MGCP KA) the Q.931 backhauling will be torn down (isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager will be removed) and the PRI will function as if it has been configured on an H.323 GW. Here we need to understand that the phones showing "Registering" or "CM Fallback Service Operating" are not indicative of the GW going into SRST. The phones will go into SRST much faster than the Q.931 backhauling being torn down.
The behavior you are seeing is the mechanism for timing out a TCP connection and has nothing to do with the SCCP keepalive itself. Any time the phone sends a TCP packet to the server and does not receive a TCP Ack. The phone will retransmit the packet at decreasing intervals until the session is timed out (phone sends TCP RST) and at that point the phone will failover to the next CCM server or SRST reference.
The SCCP keepalives are sent at regular intervals, based on a value presented to the phone during registration (30 seconds by default). If the phone gets a TCP ack for the keepalive, but no SCCP keepaliveAck from the server then you can get into the situation where the phone unregisters due to keepalive timeout (after 2 or 3 such missed keepaliveAcks).
The former is a network problem, the latter is an application problem where, the network layer of the CCM server is acknowledging that the message was received but the CCM application is not responding.
You will note in your example when the phone registers with the SRST router the sccp Alarmmessage it sends will contain a string like "last=TCP Timeout" or similar.
The 3rd gen phones (7970, 79x1, 79x2, 79x5) are much more aggressive in timing out the TCP session than the 2nd gen phones. What took your 7960 26 seconds to unregister will take a 7965 about 8 seconds. -
Iphone randome restarts and warranty issue
hello ,
i got a white iphone 4 as a gift from my uncle in canada and i live in israel , the secound day i got it i went to the cell company to get my micro sim and was ready to kick it with my new iphone
i placed the micro sim where it should be and turned on the phone after it was charging oernight all peachy till it randomly restarted
its the 2nd day i have it on and it keeps randomly rebooting
tried restoring and updating but still having the same problem
if its a hardware defect what can i do ? since the iphone was purchased in another country , does apple provide global warranty ?
thanks in advanced for the helpApple does NOT provide a global warranty on iPhones. Warranty service is provided only in the country of purchase.
If you've tried the ususal troubleshooting steps (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device) and you're still having the problem, then you'll need to send your iPhone back to your uncle in Canada so he can exchange it. -
IPhone 4 CDMA Restarting and 3G Issues
Well, my iPhone 4 CDMA has recently been restarting randomly. Also, it will lose 3G connection while I am standing in one place. It will search and either find the networkvor I will have to toggle airplane mode. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Who fixed it? If this was not an Apple repair/replacment, then that could answer the question. You can always try and do a restore via iTunes.

Faulty brightness buttons and heat issue
The brightness buttons on my iBook no longer work
I did drop it a while back and broke the ethernet port, could that have caused it (probably did thinking about it)?
Also, it gets hot quickly and the fan comes on after about ten minutes of 'normal' use. Any tips on this? What is the MHz rating of your iBook?
900
What kind of optical drive does it have?
CD write, DVD read only
What version of the OS is it running?
10.4.8
How big is the hard drive and how much space remains
available on it?
40gb capacity, 11.5gb free
How much RAM is installed?
640
Have you tried resetting the PMU?

All of a sudden TWO choices for Restart and Shutdown and other issues...
I noticed today that there are now TWO choices in the menu for Restarting and Shutting down for my iMac.
"Restart...
Restart
Shutdown...
Shutdown"
Nothing new has been installed.
Also, now there is a black rectangular outline around anthything that is "selected" on the desktop or in a menu.
My mac mini has also started to act weird all of a sudden. Watching Netflix today, the entire display get s horizontal colored lines and the computer freezes. I have to hold the power switch to turn it off. When trying again, it does the same thing after a few minutes.
Any ideas?
Any help would be appreciated.

The Voice Over Function in the preferences was turned on somehow. This caused the duplicate restart and shutdown issue, and the black box around highlighted items.
Now If I can figure out the Mac Mini issue. I hope it's not dying on me...

BOSD, Battery issues and Heating problem after iOS 8 upgrade
i have upgraded my iPad mini to iOS 8. Ever since I upgraded to iOS 8 am facing blue screen issues and heating problem as well. This is really frustrating even the patch iOS 8.0.2 dint solve the problem. Are you guys listening our complaints. When will you fixing it.
The same thing happened to me on my 2012 Subaru Outback. I'm not sure this will help you since you have a Honda, but I'm posting this just in case.
I paired the audio on my car with my iPhone 6. However, when I turned the car off and back on again, the iPhone would not pair automatically. I had to manually connect the iPhone with the car. Turns out there are two separate bluetooth pairings on my car: one for phone which allows up to 5 devices and one for audio which allows only one device. So I did the second bluetooth pairing for the phone (had already done the audio), and that fixed it. YMMV

Make members of a group local administrators
I have a 10.5.2 server and mixed 10.4.x and 10.5.x clients. Is there a way to setup users with Workgroup Manager such that members of certain groups are seen by the clients as local administrators?
