IR - reponse curves, visual representation

Hi guys,
I'd like to try out the IR utility in our video studio, before and after some acoustic dampening of the room.
What I'd like to see, is some visual representation of the room response.
Is this possible/any good with IR utility? Will the deconvolved return signal suffice as a frequency response curve for the room? What about phase response?
I have never used the utility, but just printed the user guide (42p).
Browsing it, I find no info in this regard.
Cheers + thanks for any (constructive) feedback
Eivind

Hi JOhn,
thanks for the reply.
I realized IRU was useless for this, but maybe Match EQ on the before and after recorded reponses will tell us anything.
If I could dump the raw sine sweep to file (for example with wiretap pro), MatLab could also do the math. But Matlab is not free, either
I guess I'll just go for Match EQ. I'm just curious, and want some indication, don't need a thorough analysis for this.
Cheers!

  • Implement Visual Representation (Stars) of user rating

I have a customer trying to implement the following visual representation of user rating.
    Example
    rating 1 :- *
    rating 2 :- **
    rating 3 :- ***
    etc.
To represent the star we are using a small gif. To repeat the star as per the rating following code is attached with it under web tab
    ----Code--------
    <?for-each@shape:xdoxslt:foreach_number($_XDOCTX,0,RATING,1)?><?shape-offset-x:(position()-1)*25?>
    <?end for-each?>
This is as detialed in the
Oracle XML Publisher Report Designer's Guide
    Oracle® XML Publisher
    Report Designer's Guide
    Release 12
    Part No. B31410-01
I have checked the output and only one star is displayed regardless of the rating level.
If anybody has any further suggestions on what may be the issue here, I would be most grateful.

  • Using Flash to create visual representation of Active Directory

Hi, I would like to know if anyone know how to do this? Basically, I have floorplans of the various sites that our company uses. i have made these floorplans vectors, and can be used in flash. the floor plans are quite detailed, with desks included. What I would like is some integration with Active directory, where i can have a visual picture of computers populating the various floorplans, but the population of this is driven by the active directory. so computer names and user names would be visable in this dynamic visual representation. I saw an article on the microsoft site, how to do just this with viso 2007, but wondering if i can do this with flash. any ideas?

    Hi,
Yes it is possible. Basically just few things are required to go ahead
    1. need to understand Flash LoadVars
    2. In ASP, you need to know how to connect to and run SQL against the database
There is a thread that talks about how flash can load variables from an ASP script may help you

    Thanks!
ps: please mark this thread as Answered if this is of help to you.

  • Creating visual representations of data

    Hello World!
This is my first Java project and I'm a little bit scared. I'm hoping someone can give me a general pointer or advice on how to approach the structure and setup of this project.
I want to create a Java tool that will allow a user to input a query to a MySQL database with the result being transformed into a visual representation when returned.
An example would be a user selecting a house from a drop-down list, whereby an icon w/label representing the top 3 houses from the database would be displayed.
    My questions are:
    - How would I best go about setting up packages, classes and objects for this project? Just the basics, not after anyone doing the project for me!
    - I would like to leave scope for scaling the icon based on relative size/weight of the results. Is this possible?
    - If a user types a query instead of a drop-down list, does this have any implications from a Java perspective?
    - Finally, is there any freely available code that does something similar to this already that I could refer to? Or any tutorial recommendations?
    Cheers
    Leon

I don't know any good resources on the web about OOD basics and software usability/ergonomy. But you might want to look at the following:
And use pencil and paper before writing code. Collect use cases - find out what your software is supposed to do -, and make sketches of your future GUI.

  • JDAPI: export the visual representation of Canvas to picture

I'm working on JDAPI (Forms2Java API):
and want to implementing a function to export the visual representation of Canvas to picture. Does anyone know how to do it? Please share some sample Java code or guideline of API should be used? Thanks in advance!

There is no "Render"-component in the JDAPI, so you will have to develop that "from scratch"

  • Hot Corners have visual representation on the screen

I don't know how I did it, but for any hot corner I have active, there is a visual representation that a corner is a hot corner. I see 1/4 of a circle in a light blue colour. If I turn hot corners off, the little 1/4 circle disappears.
Any ideas how to get rid of the 1/4 circles from the active hot corners. They never used to be there.
    Thanks, B

    Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions, but I don't have any of those type of programs installed. I have just got my MBP so have not installed very much at all.
Only tweak I have applied was to stop the computer waking from sleep when you open the lid, and that was done through terminal.
I am not too fussed about it, just feel like I have training wheels on

  • Visual representations of color spaces

I copied these diagrams from the program called Color Space ...
Can be downloaded from here: COULEUR.ORG
I think that it draws spectral locus on xyY by just plotting matching x, y and Y values for every interval of monochromatic lights on the spectrum ... just like we draw the locus line in XYZ by plotting matching tristimulus values X, Y and Z.
Because the underlying data for the most saturated colors human can see is CIE XYZ color matching functions, I think that we can draw the line of spectral locus in every model originated from CIE XYZ by just making necessary transformations to the XYZ tristimulus values for the intended model.
3D representation of the entire human gamut is more tricky, I think. I will ask about it, after getting your confirmation about the spectrum locus.

A set of three numbers in xyY or XYZ defines a color.
How does it look? How can it be reproduced?
A good occasion to go back to the roots.
The CIE color system is essentially based on the work of Hermann Graßmann,
one of the greatest scientists in the 19th century [1].
Mostly his four laws are quoted [2], but it boils down to this [3]:
"The whole set of color stimuli constitutes a linear vector space,
    named tristimulus space."
Colors behave like vectors in a three-dimensional space. A color is
characterized by three numbers. A fourth number would be redundant
(linearly dependent). A color is not characterized by just one spectrum. For
one color exists an arbitrary number of different spectra, called metamers.
The explanation of Graßmann's laws via spectra [4] is wrong.
Nobody knows what a color 'really' is. Acccording to the philosopher Kant,
we don't know what any object in the space 'really' is. We have just an
impression by our senses, eventually enhanced by instruments.
Colors are described by comparison with reference colors. For length and
weight we need references as well: the meter, the kilogramm.
Reference colors are (for instance) the three CIE primaries, spectral colors
with well defined wavelengths (it's not important, that the first experiments
were executed with a different set). Let's say R,G,B.
According to Graßmann one needs exactly three 'primaries'. This should
have ended a long dispute: three or four?, but it didn't.
Now we can use these spectral colors as base vectors of a coordinate system.
According to Kant, humans have an a-priori idea of space (without any proof),
where we can position objects. By intuition the axes are orthogonal.
Any other color can be described by a linear combination of the three primaries,
according to Graßmann exactly in a vector space. Color matching means:
find the three weights for the primaries to match a given (numerically unknown)
    color.
Unfortunately, one needs for the matching of some colors negative weight factors,
which is possible by the concept of vector space, but somewhat disturbing for
    real color mixing.
In RGB we can describe a new vector space by base vectors X,Y,Z, which form
a non-orthogonal coordinate system. All colors have non-negative coordinates X,Y,Z
and this construct has the funny feature, that luminance is identical with Y,
whereas the 'imaginary primaries' X and Z don't have luminance. Mathematically
    this is not a problem.
The relation between the two spaces is given by a matrix Cxr and its Inverse:
    X=(X,Y,Z)'  (column vectors)
    R=(R,G,B)'
    X=Cxr R
    R=Crx X =Cxr^-1 X
Conventionally we draw XYZ as a cartesian coordinate system (with orthogonal axes),
and R,G,B is the set of non-orthogonal base vectors – the arrangement has been swapped.
There is no natural law, which of the coordinate systems has to be shown as a cartesian.
XYZ is universal. Other RGB-systems with new primaries can be added, either as
working spaces like sRGB, aRGB or pRGB (ProPhotoRGB, which uses two non-physical
primaries, which doesn't surprise, because we got used to entirely non-physical primaries
X,Y,Z),  or device RGB systems like monitor spaces. Each RGB system is related to XYZ
using a matrix, thus we can transform as well from one RGB-system to another.
Now it's possible to render a threedimensional visualization of a color space by appropriate
colors, for instance aRGB. But for a monitor these colors would be clipped almost at the
    sRGB boundary.
Of course it's not possible to render pRGB correctly, because the blue and green primary
are outside the human gamut, and the red primary would be too dark. Therefore it's wise,
to use pRGB only for regions or real world colors.
There might be still an objection: the reference system contains only spectral colors.
How are the little saturated colors looking? This had been clarified by Graßmann: the vector
addition of any two colors is valid mathematically and by appearance.
These explanations may also help to end the dispute about the 'basic colors', especially
for painting. Many artists have invented their own system. The answer is simple: basic
colors are like primaries. Their location in the XYZ-space defines, which colors can be
created with positive weight factors or mixing ratios. By the way: one shouldn't worry here
about the difference between additive and subtractive color mixing.
One may have serious doubts, whether Graßmann's laws and the whole CIE colorimetry
is really valid, especially considering numerous optical illusions [5] and all these special
effects in color appearance, like Helmholtz-Kohlrausch and other nonlinearities.
It's perhaps surprising, that CIE colorimetry works so very well for image processing and
device calibration for monitors, printers and cameras.
Finally I would like to mention another scientist, which is not as popular as others,
probably because his work is mathematically difficult: Jozef B.Cohen [6].
His work has been continued by William Thornton, Michael Brill and James Worthey
    (for a further search).

  • UTF characters render automatically to their visual representation even if there is a region-specific or international rep of them. Why?

As said in the question, international characters tend to download themselves and be shown in the main text. This might be unwanted for some international users who are rather used to be shown a question mark or unknown character instead, as maybe font downloading may not be wished at all for safety reasons. This is a minor problem, and I only encountered this by seeing the "Indian Rupees" sign replaced by the hindi symbol of it, instead of the familiar "Rs." abbreviation I was used to, but still a reminder to be careful with implementing Unicode.

If you have a font that covers a specific character then you will always see the character and not a possible box with the hex code or the html entity code.

  • Graphical/Visual representation of semantic network in webcenter

    Hi Experts
As part of a solution we are developing, we require to have a graphical or link analysis view (web based) of the semantic data stored in an Oracle Database.
Ideally, we are looking for a tool/component that we can use to invoke from a portal screen.
Alternatively, are there any APIs available that we could use to develop the web based user interface/graphical viewer of the semantic data.
Would appreciate a reply at the earliest.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
Graphical presentation of link may not realy give you whole a lot of information as to why the link is slow, graphical just provides for utilization stats and perhaps errors stats depending on the graphical software used just as prtg provided by previous poster.
One thing you may want to consider is to implementing in your router netflow and get a freeware netflow collector to see how is your link being utilized , you may need to watch the physical interface stats of your broadband link for errors to rule out physical issues in the link.

}Does that work as expected? If so, then you'll have to gradually add stuff back until it does work.

  • ANNOUNCE: Visual J2EE Development Environment Released

Roaming Media announces a public beta release of Roaming Studio 1.0.

  • Need help on creating customized visual datagrid

    Hi all,
I am new to Flex and just downloaded the trial version of
Flex Builder 3 to test it.
Basically, what I need is a visual representation of some
    XML-data from a web-server.
I have managed to use a HttpService-object to import the
XML-file and also succesfully been able to show the data in a
    DataGrid.
What I want now is to show the XML data in another visual
context. I want some child elements in the XML-file to float in the
Flex-page as graphical "bubbles" that floats around, so the user
can click on one of them to select the specif child element in the
    XML-file.
Have anyone of you guys any experience on how to make that
possible? Any links to any resources etc?
Thank you very much in advance,
    Lasse
    Denmark

    Hi Sreenivas,
    Thank you for your response!
I've been taken a look on the Bubble Charts diagram, but that
is not really what I am looking for.
What I need is some bubbles floating randomly on the screen
(perhaps moving around). From what I can see, the Bubble Charts
diagram requires some predifined data to construct the position og
size - I want that to be randomized (without the possibility that
the bubbles float into each other).
Can anybody help on that? Please let me know if the problem
    is not described clearly.

  • Layer Break Setting - Visual Guide please

I freely admit I am stealing this idea from another package - DVD-Lab Pro.
In this, there is a visual representation in the movie timeline that shows the author where the acceptable range for the Layer Break is - and as a result, will tell me at a glance if I do not have a suitably placed Chapter Point that can become the Layer Break cell start sector.
At the moment, it is very hit & miss setting the layer break as the manual setting does not work properly. Automatic is fine - but what if more control is required? A visual representation would help no end.
Screenshot of what I mean available by request!

Ha, ha! With advice like that you are not going to get very far.
I just saw ImgBurn in your post and ignored the excellent description you provided of the rest of your system.
Toast is mentioned as the Mac option for burning instead of Encore. I do not know if Toast will allow you to handle layer breaks.

  • Visual Upgrade to 2013 - Missing Site Templates for ITTEAM and PROJSING

I've been working on Upgrading some old WSS 3 sites to SharePoint 2013.   I Have been able to get all of them imported to SharePoint 2010,and then have imported them all to my Sharepoint 2013 server. Now at the to of all of my sites is the  Experience

The following sites are using templates that are not yet supported after upgrade:

I understand that those Fab 40 Templates are no longer available to create in 2013, though what can I do with the Existing content that I have? Seems wrong to Leave it at the 2010 Visual Representation.
For this one Sharepoint Site I could recreate the 2 Webs. Though on another Sharepoint site there are 123 sub sites with the sa,e two templates. I can't Abandon them.  Is there a way to convert them to a new template first?  How can I do the Upgrade
and keep my content? If I have to use a new template for new sin sites, I'm fine, I just don't want to lose what I have.
    Thanks!

    Hi  Scooter,
For upgrading Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to SharePoint 2013, you can refer to the steps as below:
    1.First upgrade:
Upgrade the content to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
    http://www.fpweb.net/support/microsoft-sharepoint/tutorials/wss-to-moss-migration/
    2.
Second upgrade: Upgrade the content to SharePoint Server 2010 Products
If your environment is SharePoint 2007 32 bit, you need to upgrade your SharePoint 2007 32 bit to SharePoint 2007 64 bit firstly.

  • Visual "amplification" of the audio track

I'm running Premiere Elements 10 and find the visual representation of sound in the audio track very useful.  However, the only sound that disturb the horizontal line are relatively loud.  Other quieter sounds - particularly speech - often cannot be "seen".  Is there anyway of widening the audio track on the screen to get a more detailed view of the sound waveform - I would find it very useful when editing?

There are 2 settings for all track heights. Click on the icon at left of the track to change.
Try 'normalising' the sound. Sound waveforms should fill the track height only where there is a loud peak but normal sound should be about half height.
If the sound "waveform" is very low, it means the original material is recorded too low. Maybe you have a fault in your camera?
Maybe the camera has been set for loud sounds or it's auto volume system is not working properly or not switched on,
Cameras sometimes have a "boost" setting for soft sounds. Try this if so
Sometimes a faulty electret mic has peaks going in one direction, this halves the average level (and causes some distortion)
The average level of speech at the normal level should be about 6 db below the loudest peak (spike in the waveform).
Sometimes a lound intermittent noise can force the rest of the sound in a clip down due to the auto level system in any camera.
You can restore the level of any clip by "normalising" it. (Selectable from the menus after selecting the sound clip to be normalised)
This sets the LOUDEST peak in any clip to max level and if this peak is already lower then the maximuim, then brings up the whole clip as well.
If an offending spike, such as a bumped camera is in the way, you can zoom in on the spike, sets cut points either side of it and reduce just the level of the spike by say 6db, then normalise the whole clips either side of it to bring it all back up to normal.
