IR sync to Vista 64

Yes, another Vista 64 bit problem. I have a Palm m500 and a Tungsten T3.
I read the posts and bought an IR-USB from Cables Unlimited.
Driver info: MosChip Semiconductor, driver version 1.3.0.0
The PC sees both of my palms and I can send a VCF from the palm to the PC - so I know the IR is working on both ends.
The problem is with hotsyncing.  With the m500, I got it to sync ONCE and only once.
Now I am getting the  "IR port used by another device" problem. I have no idea what changed. I can still beam an adress from the Palm to the PC - so the IR connection is working. I have unchecked the box in the Control Panel settongs for the IR port("allow digital cameras...").
Any other ideas on what settings to change/check?
The Tungsten T3 has never sync'd. It just fails with the normal 'cannot connect' message. I can beam an address from the Tungsten to the PC as well - so the IR connection is working there as well.

Hi:
No problem with the key working on SP1. I used my W7 key that I got on SP1 and my W7 Pro was without SP1.
You can use the free MS USB download tool.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
You may also need this and follow the instructions if you have trouble with the download tool working from the get-go.
I had to do this method below and it worked perfectly for me.
Download the bootsect file form http://www.everettsporting.com/bootsect.zip
Once downloaded, extract and copy the BootSect.exe file to the same folder that includes the installed Windows7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool.exe file. The default install directory of that file in Windows 7 is C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool\
Run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool application as indicated on the Microsoft Store web site. The end result will give you a bootable USB flash drive that contains everything you need to install  Windows 7.

  • Why can't touch Sync with Vista Calendar same as iCal file

Why in the world can't the touch sync with vista calendar? it exports the same ics file as iCal. I'd rather not spend the absurd money for Outlook 2007 just to backup my calendar so I don't lose it in firmware updates.
Also it would be very nice to edit my calendars on my computer as well.

With Windows, iTunes can only sync files from Outlook, and nothing else.
It can only do it properly through Outlook, as iTunes is only configured to find the files in Outlook at that time, and no other program.

  • How to sync with vista 64 bit windows calendar and windows contacts

    Hi all,
I see the clear msg on the Palm site saying that 64 bit windows is not supported, but that is still my need and my goal.  I just bought a new DELL desktop and am transitioning to it, but this is a showstopper.
I want to ask if any user has suggestions or if anyone has insight as to if/when palm will sppt it.  Today its hard to buy a machine in a retail store that is not loaded w Vista64...and I spoke to Dell about this, since they need to warn people that the OS may prohibit a person from replacing his old Dell with a new one, but they say its a Palm/Msft problem.
My Tungsten E2 is important to me, and I want to sync it daily.  I am not very sophisticated when it comes to PC's or the OS's although i have learned a lot in the past 3 days.  I have no room to keep 2 machines, nor desire.  Any suggestions besides 'let the buyer beware'?

I've been a Palm user for only 1 Year now and am not impressed.  Sure the 755P was a flashy device with cool features.  However, now after owning the device for a short period I'm looking for updates from Palm which don't exist.  The browser in antiquated and doesn't support recent technology.  The email system is effective, however, hope you don't receive an HTML email because you can't read it in Versamail.  Palm is focused on trying to produce new devices which compete with the IPhone and Storm but aren't remembering that their loyal customers will continue to purchase devices from them if they keep them happy. Futher, after upgrading my wife's laptop to Vista 64-bit I find that we can no longer sync the device using the interface cable.
My advice at this time, is to stay away from Palm until they provide the service which customers have come to expect.  I note today 12/7/08 that Palm is selling at $1.42 a share when just 8 years ago Palm stock was selling for $472.50.  Don't you see the picture, people are interested in the new flashy devices, but, if you don't take care of your customer base which has been loyal they will jump ship and move on to the better technology which works.
How about providing the updates we need to work today.  It will help me make up my mind next year when this 2-yr contract with Alltel is up (and i become a new Verizon) customer.
The matter is all in Palm's hands.  I don't see this company surviving past 2010 unless they start taking care of people now.  My advice, stay away from Palm until they fix all these issues which people have identified throughout the web.

  • Windows Mobile and syncing with Vista

I just recently bought a new laptop (within the last week) with Vista as the operating system.  I also use Outlook 2007.  When I hook my phone up by the usb cable sometimes the computer acknowledges my phone and sometimes not.  However, when it does acknowledge it, it does not give me the option to set it up, only an option to sync music, photos and tv.  All I want to do is to sync to Outlook.
You can probably tell from my message that I am not very tech savvy but if someone can tell me what to do I can do it!  I have read the help menu in Vista backward and forward but still have no idea how to get my phone to sync.  Someone please help me before I lose my mind!  Is there anything that I have to download to be able to sync?  I realize that activesync no longer is needed on Vista but I am unable to tell whether I have to download the Windows Mobility Device Center or if it is already in Vista.  I cannot find anything that looks like the WMDC is supposed to look like on my computer and like I said, I am not offered the option of setting up my device.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Alltel)

Ok one way to make sure and see if WMDC is install is to go into your control panel and open the programs and features. And look for the windows mobile device center. If it is listed then it is installed if not (which I think is the case) then you would need to go to here to install it http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
once installed you should get the setup option.
Let me know if any of this does not work

  • Treo Pro will not sync with Vista SP1

I'm really hoping somebody can help me here.  I just replaced my aging 700p with the long-awaited Treo Pro (Sprint).  I've actually been looking forward to getting fully Windows-based, since my 700p syncing was routinely problematic - always having to do workarounds and plug in the cord just the right way, etc...
Let me try to give you the flow so far.
    I have Vista SP1
    I get Treo Pro
I plug Treo Pro into Vista, SP!, all ready to sync up my Outlook 2007 data.
Treo Pro fires up a very impressive looking installation routine.
Routine seemingly works fine - getting me to the point where you unplug and reconnect your device to do your first sync
I reconnect, and hear the Windows "USB connect" sound, then.... nothing.
I open WMDC and it says "not connected"
I open "USB to PC" on the Treo, and uncheck the "advanced networking" box as suggested by some other posts.
Windows sees the difference and installs a couple of other drivers.
Windows connects, gives me the "USB connect" sound, and WMDC says "not connected"
The Treo appears to attempt a sync, but finishes with a message "To synchronize this device, you must install ActiveSync 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer. "
HUH?  ActiveSync only works with XP - of course I can't install that!
By the way, I tried the same thing with my Vista SP1 laptop. Same exact results.
Also, at no time have I seen the WMDC icon in the tray area. (I remember having a Nino way back when, and the ActiveSync icon was down there)
I thought this was supposed to be easy - Windows PC, Windows device.  Piece of cake, right?  Not so.  If I cannot get this thing to connect, I'm getting a Centro! (not my first choice....)
A thought... any chance this could have to do with having Palm Hotsync still installed (from my Treo 700p)?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

On Windows XP, having HotSync installed didn't interference with using ActiveSync with a Treo 800w. This is not exactly the same as your setup, but close enough that I think HotSync is not likely to be the problem.
How did you install WMDC? The downloadable User Guide (PDF pp44-46) refers to running the PC Setup program. Did that part go as expected?
I don't use Vista, so I'm not familiar with the additional complications that might be involved...

  • Email Sync on Vista 64 not working

    Hi,
I am using a N79. I have configured the Email Sync and it's working fine with Vista 32 bit.

  • Sync with Vista Business and Outlook 2007

My old systems we running XP and Outlook 03 but I have recently upgraded to Vista Business and Outlook 2007. Since upgrading I have not be able to get either my contacts or calendar to sync. I have tried everything that I have come across in this forum and elsewhere but so far nothing has worked. I have the latest version of both iTunes and iPhone software. At this point it will not sync in either direction. Even though it says it is syncing it only takes about 10 seconds and nothing actually syncs. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If possible create a new user
Once in the new user, Launch iTunes and Set it up
    Close out of iTunes
Launch Outlook set it up without Email support so Outlook 2007 will be open
Once this is done Add at least 1 contact and 1 Calender Event to Outlook 2007
Once this is done assuming your iPhone has contact and Cal information on it, Go ahead and go into ITunes and Set the Info Tab to Sync to Outlook for Contacts and Cals, And report what happens.
If this works. Then there is an issue with the Data in Outlook on other account.

  • 6280 goes white screen when I sync with Vista

    Hi all,
My 6280 goes white screen and reboot when I sync after a 350 items uploaded to my laptop under Vista Premium Family Edition. I've got this problem either connected through the cable or bluetooth.
I use the latest version of PC Suite, but I do not have upgraded my 6280.
If someone can help me, thanks by advance.
(and of course, it worked perfectly with my old desktop computer under XP ...).
    Richard.

I mean to sync with the syncronisation feature (inside the PC Suite menu) to an Outlook 2002, under Windows Vista.
Anyway, I solved my problem : I had a corrupted record in my phone's contacts (the phone was always rebooting on the same record number, when I tried to export data). I have deleted all the phone's contact records and then reloaded them from Outlook, and now everything works just fine.
    Backup, backup, always backup ...
The question is : how could I have corrupt a record in my phone's contact ?
Thank you for answering me ;-)
    Richard.

  • Some calendar entries do not sync: Windows Vista -- Outlook 2007 -- 3GS

I have a couple of calender entries that refuse to sync. beween my Windows Vista machine running Outlook 2007 and my iPhone 3GS.
I bought some airline tickets from USAir and they sent reservation information in an e-mail that I added to outlook. Although the "appointment" looks normal in Outlook it will not sync. I also have one event on the iPhone that won't sync "back" to Outlook.
    So far I have tried:
    * Reseting the sync. history in iTunes
    * Setting the "Replace information on this iPhone" for the Calendar setion.
    * Making an edit in the non-syncing entries so they would show as needing to be synced to the other device.
None of these things has made the entries sync....
    Any ideas apprecaited....

Ok after MUCH messing around it appeared that the problem was somewhere in one of my "repeating events". Myself and the Apple guy concluded this after exporting all of my calendar events to a CSV file and then re-importing them. All the events went to the iPhone without issue so the initial diagnosis was data corruption in one of these events causing a sync. failure.
I was willing to go along with this diagnosis and figure out which event was corrupt since that seemed to be the problem.
MY ONLY COMPLAINT to Apple at the time was that this condition should have given an error message during sync. - just a "basic" QA check of the sync. would show the number of calender events in Outlook did not match the number of calender events in the iPhone ... apparently this is NOT performed by the iTunes Sync. tool.
Anyway I deleted ALL recurring events from my calender sync-ed and all was well.
I started adding back the repeating events to find the "broken" event. This turned out not to be possible as it would "break" in seemingly random places.
For example I have about 60 annually repeating events (birthdays and anniv.) I added back the first 20 ... it broke. Ah-ha the problem is somewhere in #1 - 20 of 60. So I add just the "last" 40 ... it still breaks... hmmmmmm do I have MULTIPLE "break points"???
Ok ... so I just start re-adding them manually one at a time ....
I have a grandfather that was born in 8/28/1915. When I add his birthday to the calendar in Outlook (by entering his birthdate on the details page of his contact record in Outlook) a annually repeating event that repeats forevery starting on 8/28/1915 gets added to the calender. iTunes would NOT sync. this event.
I deleted it, re-resync-ed, then re-added the birthday and EDITED it to start the repeating event on 8/28/2000. This time a sync. worked OK and the birthday is on my iPhone ... this is very screwy. Again no error messages from iTunes at any time.
So I do not know what the "metrics" are for valid events, but if something as simple as the one above confuses iTunes I sure could have a lot of "bad" events that are in fact not corrupt.
So I do not know what the "metrics" are for valid events, but if something as simple as the one above confuses iTunes I sure could have a lot of "bad" events that are in fact not corrupt. There has got to be something weird going on with the way iTunes handles "repeating" events in terms of a "ceiling" as to how many times it can repeat or the total number of repeating events that can be sync-ed or something like that ... that seems to be the only "thread" I can find .... it does not appear to be corrupt data, but perhaps event types that the iTunes/iPhone can not handle???
    Not a happy boy.

  • Distorted photos when syncing to Vista OS

I'm trying to sync my ipod touch with my jpeg photos on a PC with Vista OS. The photos show up on the ipod, although most are distorted with color streaks going across, different colors, etc.
I've spent a bunch of time trying to fix, and have seen this question numerous times without a solution. In fact, many people have posted answers saying cannot be done - Itunes and Vista incompatible.
The attached article would seem the natural fix, but doesn't help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306525
I cannot see "readyboost" in Vista since the ipod doesn't show up as an external drive. I'm not sure if that's the actual problem anyway.
It seems like this is indeed a compatibility issue with Vista and Itunes/ipod, i suspect the photos becoming distorted when the photo optimization is taking place, specific to whatever process Vista using via the harddrive (or readyboost)
The reason I believe this to be the case is I can create a simple work around by taking the photos on the PC and burning to a CD. Then I can point itunes to the CD to sync, and the photos are transferred perfectly to the ipod.
This is less than optimal since it takes additional steps that shouldn't be necessary, as well as limits the number of photos that can be synced to the size or a CD or DVD. I guess one can purchase an external hard drive to keep photos and sync, although also not optimal.
Seems like this should be something that the apple engineers would have figured out - I'd imagine a problem with most Vista computers. The apple support people haven't been able to figure it out - I'd imagine there's someone out there who can help.
Does anyone have a step-by-step solution to solve?

So no one has any solutions?
I've actually spoken with a number of people with the exact problem, including my brother who has the iphone and vista photo sync issues (the rainbow disorted colors.)
It's surprising Apple couldn't get their software working properly with the most current OS from Microsoft. Or maybe it isn't - I guess it's a bit harder to design software to work when you're not doing it in a closed system environment.

  • No photo sync from Vista 64 Home

I just moved my PC from an old, creaking XP system to a new Vista-64 Home system (no choice, unfortunately, if I wanted to upgrade). iTunes (all versions up to 8.1.1.10) synced flawlessly and automatically with my AppleTV on XP. After days of trying to sync with iTunes 8.1.1.10 on the Vista machine, I finally reset the AppleTV and it showed up on Vista iTunes. But the "syncing" message showed up forever with nothing transferring. Tried it again and voila! all my music and movies transferred ... but the photos did not. Tried again, same result. When I try to sync photos it just goes into an infinite "syncing" message loop and nothing actually downloads. I have sync photos selected and the correct directory chosen (and I have verified that the directory is filled with photos). The result is the same with ATV S/W vsns. 1.0 and 2.3.1. Space is not an issue ... there are 126GB free on the ATV. Any ideas on how to get the photos downloaded?

OK this should NOT be this hard. I too am having difficulties with Photo sync. I get the eternal loop of syncing and it does not ever get to the point hwere it copies the photos. IU have seen similar issues from other users but no detail of how to fully resolve this and this lead seemed to disappear with no follow up to any resolutions.
I have installed the 64 bit version of itunes after accidently installing the 32 bit version. I did remove the 32 bit and then install the 64 bit.
I found detail on moving the photos to a public folder which I also did. This has not solved the issue.
The only other piece of information I saw was on removing the ipod photo cache file in the parent directory of photos however I could not fin this file (unless it is hidden of course).
So I am a very frustrated new vista user who has spent the last 24 hours trying to find a fix for this.

  • Sync with vista doubles up some songs and video

when I sync my iphone 5 to my vista computer it makes copies of some of the song and videos even if i dellete on phone and computer they come back on next sync why?

Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc.
