IR4HP7 Stops Policy Packages

I don't see much activity here but I'll give this a shot.
I have several OES2SP2 and SP3 servers running ZFS7.1 . The basic 7.1 install works but must be restarted more than I'd like so I thought I'd try IR4HP7 which is said to support OES2SP2 (no mention of SP3). I've tried it on 3 servers with similar results - the Policy Package Agent stops working. This can be seen on the patched server in the Remote Web Console "Display" dropdown in the upper right corner. Before applying HP7 (or HP4 for that matter) You see both "Tiered Electronic Distribution" and "Policy Package Agent" (you have to click on it to see it). After applying the HP you only have TED.
This means that Policy Package distributions don't work (they download but fail to extract). The event log shows: "ERROR - applying the distribution.Reason: helma.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException:XmlRpc Server for FacilitatorXMLRPC not found. Make sure the service is still running"
Of course the service is not running so the error message itself isn't too helpful. I've looked through the startup log but don't see anything obvious.
Anyone seen this problem and fixed it?

Believe it or not I still have an open SR on this. I now need to reinstall IR4 as I'm no longer sure if I installed it before HF7, however without the policy package agent running you can't extract a cpk. With NetWare you could manually extract one from the ZFS command prompt, is there a way to do this in Linux?

Using Windows Group Policies in User policy package

I've been using the gp under User Config > Windows Settings > Internet Explorer Maintenance > Connection > Proxy Settings in the User policy Package for a while now to prevent students from getting to https sites.
There are some sites though that we had to the Exception list which has worked fine until I added a new one which is: https://secure.ontariocolleges.ca/sso/auth
When this one is added it seems the gp doesn't work at all, ie students can go to any https site they want, when I remove this exception they're blocked again.
Someone else told me there was a character limit to the exception list so I tried removing all other exceptions except the one above and it still doesn't work.
I am unable to find any other info on this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Rights to associate users to Policy Package

If I want to give a user the rights to associate other users to a Policy
Package what exact rights to I need to grant them?

Policy Packages

I am currently creating policy packages using ConsoleOne. Is it possible
to create policy packages using iManager?

Unable to create Policy packages - missing snapin

Product: Novell Small Business Suite 6 SP5 installed, ZFD sp3 installed.
When attempting to create policy packages I get the following message:
"There is not a snap-in to create this type of object. If you proceed and
use the generic object creator, the resultin object may not be useable."
This happens with Console One on the workstation as well as on the server.
Can anyone help? Any suggestions how to resolve this will be greatly
appreciated.

ZENworks 6.5 SP1 - User Policy Package problems

I have ZENworks 6.5 SP1. I am trying to apply user policy packages to
control the desktop. We are using Windows XP and from what I can tell,
everything is setup correct, but it doesn't apply at the desktop. We do not
have any AD in our system.
This is the first time we have tried to do this.
Any ideas would be apprecitated.

I have double checked, yes, the 6.5 Agents are installed on the box. As
a little additional information, just to check, I added a Windows
Desktop Preferences setting to the same policy and those settings are
getting to the PC with no problem.
Also, today, when I go in and try to edit the group policy, I get an
error "The Group Policy that you are attempting to edit is currently
being edited by another user. Please try again later."
I deleted the policy today (after I got the error) and tried to
recreate, just to see if I missed a step. I get this same error when I
try to edit the group policy. I restarted all workstation on my test
network, including the management station I am building the policy from.

How do I stop VI Package Manager from crashing when I try to use it?

So I've been wanting to play around with the Arduino toolkit, but when I installed the VI Package Manager, the splash screen stayed up for a very long time. I tried quitting in Task Manager, and running it again. This time after about 10 seconds, it gave me the standard Windows crash dialog. I tried running it as Administrator, but that didn't help. I also tried running it in XP compatibility mode, and that opened a popup saying it couldn't detect a LabVIEW installation, but it still wouldn't load (It didn't crash though; just stayed at the splash screen.) I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, and LabVIEW 2011 Professional Development System.

Policy Packages and Remote Control

Hi-
I've been slowly but surely setting up ZFD 3.2 on a Netware Small
Business 6 Server. I'm getting very close, I have auto import
seemingly
working, I can initiate chat with the workstation, but not remote
control or view. I'm pretty sure it's a policy issue, but I'm having
trouble visualizing where the various policies are supposed to be in
the
tree in relation to the workstation objects, the user objects, and the
server objects.
It doesn't help that our system has grown quite a bit and our tree is
probably pretty messy. I wouldn't mind a good resource for a visual representation of a "good, clean tree" for a company with two
locations
and two servers...
Any help would be much appreciated- I'm one of those "defacto" tech
guys...

Here is how I normally do things.
Tree
ORG1 ORG2
OU Users OU Users
OU Policies OU Policies
OU APPS OU APPS
This is for a different organization for each location. Like Locations
west and Location East.
Then you have your organizational unit for the different users and
then
for your zen policies.
This way you can go directly to the container that contains all your
polices and dont' have to search through several objects to find it.
ON your policies you would have your associations as to were they aregoing to apply.
It is not about location of policies, but about association.
Does that help any?

Group Policy - User Rights Assignments not taking effect on workstation`

Novell 5.1 SP7. ZenWorks 3.2 sp3. Windows XP Pro workstations.
In Group Policy, (Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security
Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment), I have added Power Users to
the "Load and Unload device drivers" policy. However this setting is not
taking effect on my Windows XP workstations. My DLU policy for users is
configured to have the users members of the "Users" and "Power Users" groups
on the local PC.
Other parts of Group Policy (Computer Policy/Administrative Templates) are
taking effect on the workstation, so I'm wondering if the problem I am
having is related to Security Settings only.

SSIS package flow based on a scheduling configuration table.

I have a table called Tbl_Scheduler.
This scheduler table contains
scheduler id ,scheduler description,as shown below.
1 ,Runs between 10 th of current month and 20th of current month
2 ,Runs at last day of the month
3 ,Runs at first day of the month
Scheduler Id will come from first task(it is given in a configuration table),
second task should check this scheduler id on scheduler table and
verify whether the current run date is falling under the criteria,which is given as scheduler description.
If it is not,need to stop the package flow.
SSIS package is scheduled from SQL agent job in every 10 mins.Could you please let us know,how I can design the same.
Also please feel free to advise to change the table design.

Stopping running packages is a bad idea in general. You must specifically design a package for being stopped any time which isn't always possible, often not at all.
And running a package repeatedly in short intervals is not a SOP either.
To trigger a SSIS package run, the easiest would be via sp_start_job <name> once you have your package set up to run in Agent.

Document Printing - Delivery Note and Packaging

Hi Experts,
When I print my Delivery Notes through Document Printing my Packaging Document prints off automatically. Please can you tell me if it's possible to switch this off so when I print my Delivery Notes through Document Printing only my Delivery Note prints off without the Packaging Note also printing.

The options I can see on my Document Printing are:
Document Type - I've selected 'Deliveries'
Series - I'll selected 'All'
When Batch/serial No Exist, Print - no matter what I select here I always get the Packaging Note printed.
Is there anyway to stop the Packaging Note being printed when printing the Delivery Note through Document Printing?

Inventory Policy not showing up in the scheduler - XP

We are testing an XP flavor of the company-wide image. I noticed none of
the XP test systems have the Workstation Policy in the scheduler. Zen is
running OK, Windows 2000 clients have the policy in the scheduler, I can
ping zenwsimport. I am using Netware 4.2 SP2 client. One thing I noticed
is that there is no executable called ntscan.exe on the XP systems. I
executed WSREG32, but the machine still did not register itself in
the "Workstations" container. We are using Console One 1.3.5. The policy
packages were created with that version. I only found one TID referencing
my problem...TID10084969....but the solution is not relevant in my case.

Group Policy not Applying

Currently we are running ZfD 7 and Netware 6.5 and have recently upgraded all our workstations to Windows XP Service Pack 2. Our tree structure consists of an OU for each school level, elementary, middle, and high, and an OU for each school in that respective level. Example:
Elementary
West Main
South Main
Middle
Brown Middle
The current contents in each School OU have users, groups, policies, ect. Previously policy was applied by a workstation policy package that distributed all policies: user, machine, and security which were associated with the School OU. Now we split the policy into workstation packages and a user packages. The goal was to have the workstation apply the machine and security policy and the user policy to apply user settings and create dynamic the local user account.
The workstation policy remains persistent on the workstation while the user policy creates a local user (non-volatile) and applies the user policy from a server path depending on group membership. We have four different user policy packages: Student, Teacher, Specialist and Technology. Each with there own group policy user configuration. Everyone in our Tree has the appropriate permissions to access the policies. We configure the user policy package as follows:

I can get the workstation policy to apply with no problem. The problem comes when a users logs on. It doesnt matter if a new user is being created or if they are simply just switching users. User group policy doesnt apply randomly. The strange thing is it does copy down to the machine. If I connect to the admin share on a newly imaged workstation (with no policy applied) and open c:\windows\system32\ you see the creation of GroupPolicy.Usercache Folder and it copies to the GroupPolicy Folder which is were it applies policy from. Also you can see policy dynamically changing if different users logs on. The Registry.pol updates in the c:\windows\system32\ GroupPolicy.Usercache\User folder and c:\windows\system32\ GroupPolicy \User Sometimes group policy applies and sometimes it does not. When a user logs on you see the policy that was copied down apply. For example the run option is taken away from the start menu. During the log on process this remains in effect but when the process completes its almost like policy is take away. When this occurs I can run WMSCHED.Exe and reapply the user policy and it will apply sometimes. I tried applying group policy through both groups and organizational units. Both with the same results. I was wondering if anyone has had issues with applying group policy with ZEN or if I am doing this incorrectly. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Group Policy - Workstation Group

Hello,
I am trying to apply a windows group policy using a workstation policy package and associating it with a workstation group.
When I go log in to a workstation that is a member of the workstation group after the policy has been setup and go into gpedit.msc, the setting is not changed.
If I setup a user policy with the user I'm logging in as, the user settings work correctly.
Just as a test, I am going and enabling QOS Limit Reserve Bandwith and setting it to 0%. I have the policy running at user login applying only computer configurations and I have loopback support enabled in replace mode. persistent settings are NOT enabled.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any help

There are numerous reasons why a Zen managed Group Policy not will apply,
associated via group or not.

Things to check regarding a "Workstation Policy Package" associated GPO
(that only contains "Computer Configuration" settings):
1. Workstation Object must have [RF] to the files on the server.
2. "Network location of existing/new Group Polies" path (in C1) must be UNC.
3. Schedule = "System Startup".
4. The "Computer Configuration" check box must be enabled (in C1).
5. GPT.INI on the server must not be Read-only.
