IrDA problem PC can't detect 6101 but 6610 is OK

PC running XP sp1 with USB IrDA adapter.
Nokia PC Suite is not intalled yet.
IrDA settings are all default, viz,
Type is Vishay 6xxxx (default)
Speed is 400000 (default)
When I enable IR on my 6610, it connects immediately.
When I enable IR on the 6101, it does not connect.
I have been through the speed and IR type configurations for the adapter and have tried combinations of:
Type: Sigmatel 4000, Sigmatel 4012 and Vishay (6101E perhaps?)
Speed: 9600, 19200, 115200, 4000000
On one occasion, the 6101 was detected but the installation appeared to fail. XP said:
Detected new device Nokia 6101
Detected Classic Phone
Detected modem over IrDA (or something like that)
It never got to:
New hardware is installed and ready to use.
I have also reimaged the PC so the 6610 was never present and still the 6101 can not be detected.
Any suggestions please?

Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I will try it. Do you suggest to use the latest version, or some older version?
But, how will installing PC Suite help me if the PC cannot detect the 6101 although it can detect the 6610?
Do I currently have a pure connectivity problem? How will PC Suite fix it?
Thanks in advance

  • Can't detect router (but router works!)

    recently... i got this "limited connection" for the internet, but i noticed that the Router was working perfectly (all the lights were fine) and the modem (motorola) was also working fine as well (corresponding lights were on). i had to unplug the router for now (connect the internet, just directly through the modem - so the modem works). i just tried to reinstall the router and nothing can detect this WRT54G, but all the correct lights are still flashing.
    i'm wondering if, the router got fried or something? possibly an A/C adaptor problem?, i tried a different outlet on my power bar but it still didn't work (everything else connected to the power bar works).
    thanks in advance!

    for "limited or no connectivity" through the router , follow the steps below :
    1) make sure that the computer is connected to one of the LAN ports and not the WAN / Internet port.
    2) go to start -> control panel -> network connections -> right click on LAN and click properties -> click on configure and go to Advanced tab....under the properties column select Link Speed and under values select 10 mbps half duplex mode
    3) Restart the computer and check the ip add.
    4) if still getting 169.254.x.x , go to start -> control panel -> network connections -> right click on LAN and go to properties -> select Internet Protocol TCP/IP and click for its properties.
       Select use the following ip add and enter the info
       IP add         :  192.168.1.10
        SM              :  255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
    Click OK.
    5) go to command prompt , ensure that u get the same ip add and then type :
     ping 192.168.1.1
     if you get replies , it means your computer is communicating with the router
     if you get Request Timed Out , disable the firewalls on the comp , hold the reset
     button on the router for 90 seconds and do a power cycle...
    6) check the ip add again and try to ping the default gateway

  • Problem - I can import from mailbox but not scan directly into PDF

    Hi guys,
    I hope you can help.
    I have a Xerox 7132 printer/scanner/copier which has been set up and working on a small office network for a while now. Recently two users of four have found they can no longer scan directly into Acrobat Standard 9 from the application. (The other two are fine and can do everything as before. One is using Acrobat Standard 9 and the other Pro X).The two who have the problem are able to scan to email. They can also scan (from the scanner) to a mail box. However if they stay at their machines and using Acrobat choose to create PDF - scan etc. etc. and then choose to hide native menu, when they click scan an error pops up which simply says - 'PARAMETER'. Not Bad parameter or anything else, just the one word - PARAMETER.
    I found a few bits and pieces on 'Bad Parameter' which state the fix as selecting the scanner. In this case the scanner is selected - 'Xerox Network Scanner'.
    I can ping and find the scanner. I can print to it. I can scan into a mailbox. I just lost functionality to print direct from the Acrobat Standard 9. I have to first  scan the item into a mailbox, and then import it into Acrobat.
    I'm running XP Pro SP3.
    Acrobat is version 9.5.2 and it is fully updated.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    I can't tell you why the 3G isn't recognized by FCP and I have no way to test whether it's normal since I don't have access to that model. But just to suggest that you use Image Capture to bring the clips  into your computer and then import those into FCP. An extra step, but FWIW, that's the workflow I use for the 4S – even though it appears in the import window.
    As for your missing Desktop listing, I have experienced that and as I recall I trashed preferences and it reappeared. BTW, I assume shows properly in your Finder sidebar?

  • NI MAX can't detect instrument but the instrument can be pinged

    Hi,
    I'm in the process of connecting a Lecroy oscilloscope to a cpu via a cross over cable with plans of controlling the scope through some VIs. I cannot get NI MAX to find the oscilloscope, even though I can ping it. Below are the steps I've taken:
    1) Installed NI-VISA and VICPPassport along with all the appropiate Lecroy drivers for Labview
    2) Configured the IP addresses of the scope and CPU and successfully pinged each other (no firewalls active, same subnet, connected with cross-over cable).
    3) Installed Lecroy's wavestudio software, established succesful communication with the scope (it had no trouble finding it automatically)
    4) Opened NI MAX and tried to auto detect the scope using create new TCP/IP option. Failed. Also, the manual option failed as well.
    I don't understand why I can ping the insturment, and interact with it using wavestudio, but NI MAX can't find it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello SimonWall,
    The VICP pport (the rules of the post do not allow me to use the word p&$$port correctly) uses port 1861.  The firmware on the TeledyneLeCroy scope will setup firewall rules to allow the LXI and the VICP connections.  Typically, the issues with a block are either the fact that WaveStudio (or some other application) is still connected to the device when attempting the connection, anti-virus software that has been installed on the scope, or the scope has been connected to a company network that implements policies that have blocked it.
    There is an app. note on the TeledyneLeCroy website that describes the VICPpport (and has the port information as well) that may help you: (Due to the rules of the community for posting here, I cannot add the link, but you can search on VICP from here)  TeledyneLeCroy App Notes
    I hope this helps!

  • I have a very strange problem - A can listen on B, but B cannot listen on A

    Hello!
    I have a very disturbing problem.
    I have done a Paint-like program that add Point-objects on the JFrame. This porgram is networked and it contains a thread class that is sending the Point and a thread class that recieves Point objects. That makes it possible to open two instances of the program and when you paint on one of the windows, the program will send the point coordinats through a DatagramPacket to the other window. So, to make this clear, this program has ONE Sending class called Client and ONE Receiving class called Server. So when you want to make a connection, then you have to open two instances of the program.
    So what is the problem?
    Suppose that I have opened two instances of the program. Instance A is sending packets to port 2001 and is listening for packets on port 2000. Instance B is sending packets to port 2000 and is listening for packets on port 2001.
    When I draw a point on Instance A's window, the Instance B is receiving the point and draws the point on its window.
    When I draw a point on Instance B's window, the Instance A is NOT receiving the point. Instance B is listening on itself. That is the problem. Why is instance B listening for packets from itself and why doesn´t A get B's packets when B gets A's packets?
    Here is the send och receive classes (called Client and Server):
    class Client extends Thread
                Point p;
                Client(Point p)
                     this.p = p;
                public void run()
                     System.out.println("Sending");
                     try
                          InetAddress toHost = InetAddress.getLocalHost();
                          int port = 2000;
                          DatagramSocket sock = new DatagramSocket();
                          String message = Integer.toString(p.x) + " " + Integer.toString(p.y);
                          byte[] data = message.getBytes();
                          DatagramPacket p = new DatagramPacket(data, data.length, toHost, port);
                          sock.send(p);
                     catch(SocketException se){}
                     catch(IOException ioe){}
                     catch(ConcurrentModificationException cme){}
    class Server extends Thread
                String message;
                String[] xy;
                public void run()
                     System.out.println("Receiving");
                     try
                          byte[] data = new byte[8192];
                          DatagramPacket packet = new DatagramPacket(data, data.length);
                          DatagramSocket sock = new DatagramSocket(2001);
                          while(true)
                               sock.receive(packet);
                               message = new String(packet.getData(), 0, packet.getLength());
                               xy = message.split(" ");
                               Point p = new Point(Integer.parseInt(xy[0]), Integer.parseInt(xy[1]));
                               addPoint(p);
                     catch(SocketException se){}
                     catch(IOException ioe){}
                     catch(ConcurrentModificationException cme){}
      }I have tried to solve this for hours but I have not found any solution.
    Please, help!

    Here is an executable example.
    1. To run the first instance: Compile the code and run the application and note that it is listening on port 2000 and sending through port 2001
    2. To run the second instance: Change the ServerSocket to listen on port 2001 and the DatagramSocket to send through port 2000 and compile and run the application.
    3. Tell me this: Why does the first instance listen from DatagramPackets from itself and not from the other running instance while the other running instance is listening for DatagramPackets sent from the first instance? The one who can give me the answer will be the man of the month.

    I have a program that requires Java, but when I go to launch the program...the Java sign just keeps searching, but my computer says
    that it can't detect Java..I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java, and its updates...any ideas? I can open this program at school, but not on my Imac.

    Without an product info, such as OS, this is just a guess:
    MadMAC0 posted at https://discussions.apple.com/message/20107182?ac_cid=tw123456#20107182 that:

  • TS1538 Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows.

    Hi, I have the problem which iTunes cannot detect my iPhone 4s. I tried the steps you have provided in your troubleshooting, but it won't work for me because the Apple Mobile Devilce is perfectly installed on my windows. However, the driver "Microsoft teredo Tunneling adapter" has a yellow exclamation mark, which i believe means it's not installed correctly or something is wrong with it. This driver is under the Network Adapters (Please see picture below).
    This is what happens when I connect my iPhone 4s to my laptop (Windows 7 Starter 32-bit)
    1. The phone charges it's battery
    2. I can open it in My Computer and import/export media files.
    In iTunes
    3. It start to sync until step 3 then stops.
    4. The iPhone option with an arrow appears beside the iTunes Store, but when the arrow is clicked it disappears.
    I hope you can provide me a solution for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Ralph

    Hi ralphagir,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    For your iTunes issue with it not recognizing your iPhone, I would go ahead and suggest deleting iTunes and all of its components from your Windows computer and installing fresh.
    Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
    Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
    Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
    As far as the arrow button that you click and the iPhone disappears, it sounds like you may be clicking on the eject button. Please take a look at the following article for information on the eject button in iTunes.

  • APPLE/DEVS Read this! Windows 7 CAN'T detect the iPhone 5s but iTunes CAN detect it! WEIRD, huh?!..

    just a summary...
    i have a iphone 3G which i have been using for a long time and now i got an iphone 5s.. troubleshooting this kind of stuff is not new to me from computers to smartphones.. the internet has a vast majority of information and all you need to do is type in the right "KEYWORD".. i'm that kind of guy that looks for the answer before i try to look on it on my own.. i'm a DIY kind of guy as long as there is an instruction on how to do it..
    now, back to the topic..
    so i was trying to copy some of my pictures on my iphone 5s to my PC for backup purposes and to see the quality of the images but the portable device doesn't show up unlike my iphone 3G which is f***ing WEIRD.. been tinkering with this over the past 5 days since i have nothing to do and testing the new features of this phone but to no avail.. searched all over the internet but still none..
    so last night, i was really determined since i can't sleep and also connected my iphone 3G to my PC while the iphone 5s is connected.. so here is what shows up on my devices and printers and device manager..
    i can totally see the pics on my iphone 3G but not on my iphone 5s.. totally amazing.. good job apple!
    the picture under devices shows my iphone 3G and the other 2 on unspecified is my iphone 5s.. the iPhone under there is being used as my source of internet since this is tethered so i can have access and post this in here so that APPLE will know how f***ed up their SOFTWARE is is..
    so i downloaded itunes a couple of times, and i can't remember how many already, i think 5 times or more and then uninstalled all apple softwares (itunes, apple application support, apple mobile device support and etc as long as there is apple in it) and then reinstalled itunes but still none..
    so i went on device manager removed my iphone 3G and the only one that would show there is the Apple Mobile Device USB driver under USB controllers..
    and then i uninstalled the driver, looked for the driver myself by just it doesn't show up in here where you are directed to look for the driver and oh im using 64 bit just so everyone knows and i already found out that my system is using the usbaapl64.sys file in windows>system32>drivers..
    so last night i installed, reinstalled itunes and then suddenly my drive D: was gone and i received an error or a "!" on my drive and my drive is not being detected.
    Error: windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damage. (code 19).
    i unstalled the driver in device manager and then scan hardware changes, updated the driver automatically and manually and it is saying that i have the latest hardware but i can't use my DVD drive with the error on it..
    so today i searched for that e-fing error and found this http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/code-19-error.htm
    "4. Uninstall Apple iTunes. While that may sound a little drastic, iTunes is the cause of enough Code 19 errors to make it into this troubleshooting.
    If removing iTunes works, you might try installing it again from scratch, which doesn't always reintroduce the problem. See How to Properly Reinstall a Software Program for general advice."
    so i then uninstalled my itunes, uninstalled my driver and then updated it and "walla!". i can see my DVD drive again. i am using iTunes64Setup v12.0.1.26 just so everyone knows and this setup can detect both my iphones and my iphone 5s is using the latest version which is iOS 8.1.2..
    after reinstallation of itunes my DVD drive can be seen and just  noticed how APPLE SOFTWARES are so ****** up.. CAUSING A LOT OF TROUBLE AND DAMAGES..
    so going back to the topic..
    i was able to find a way (AFTER HOW MANY HOURS of TROUBLESHOOTING) on how my iphone 5s was able to detect the portable device or should i say the images on my iphone 5s where the autoplay pops up and everything..
    so i went on device manager, uninstalled apple mobile device USB driver, disconnected my iphone 5s, UNLOCKED my iphone 5s, connected it to my PC, clicked on TRUST this PC, on my PC the sound for a USB being connected sounded, and at the bottom right, automatically installed the drivers and then the autoplay popped up with the matching PORTABLE DEVICES on COMPUTER where i can browse the internal storage and the pictures..
    so now i opened iTunes and BOOOM!
    iTunes doesn't detect my iphone 5s but i can browse on the images on my phone..
    so again i went to device manager, uninstalled the driver for apple iphone under portable devices, scanned for hardware changes, updated the driver manually by selecting drive C: so it would automatically find the correct drive..
    so now, my iphone can be detected by itunes but not on my COMPUTER.. see how ****** UP this is?!.. JEEEEEEEEEZ!!
    Now i finally found the SOLUTION on how to do this and vice versa.. UNTIL APPLE decides to FIX their SOFTWARE/DRIVER issues..
    if you want to scan or browse the images on your iphone 5s on your computer all you need to do is do this:
    [for those who don't know how to reach this part, here is a GUIDE on how to open this is: click on the device > click on update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer]
    and then you will see the screen below
    click on MTP USB Device and then click on Next, after it finishes installing the drivers, your PC will automatically detect a new portable device but in order for you to access the images you need to go back on your phone, unlock it if it lock automatically and then click on "TRUST" and then you can now see the images..
    BUT the problem here is that your iPhone can't be detected on iTunes...
    now, if you want to go back to where your phone can be detected on itunes, just follow these steps:
    click on apple mobile device USB driver, click on Next and then wait for your computer to finish the installation and then you will hear the beeping sound. check your phone, unlock it, then click on "TRUST", and then go to iTunes and you will now see your iPhone there but not on your PC where you can browse for the images..
    SEE HOW THIS DRIVERS are so ****** up.. i wish i hadn't started using this ****** UP OS with all the BUGS and GLITCHES.. JEEEZ! and to think, these DEVICES are not CHEAP compared to Android devices on the market.. it's just because of how these people go with the trend that they purchase these kind of stuff and the only thing they use it for is calling or texting.. i, for once use this not for calling or texting but also for the apps that it has like the games, ebooks and etc when im bored..
    i HOPE the Apple DEVS read this and find the solution on the drivers which is so ****** UP and so LAME!!
    PS: i hope a lot of people who are having the same issue as what i had find this and help them with their concern even though this is not a permanent solution.. it is just a work around for folks that are looking for answers and solution.
    Have a Great Day Folks and it is the start of a New Year and want to contribute something even though i don't usually posts my work around.

    Randomly when I plug my Iphone 4s into Itunes it will tell me that it can't detect my phone and that I need to restore it. It doesn't happen every time, but maybe every two weeks.I restore it and then it works for a while, but then a couple weeks later I'll plug it in and I get the same message again. It's very frustrating because even though I have all the settings to save to cloud, my apps and data don't all come back.

    Thank you both. I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. As you might imagine, I'm hoping to avoid the creation of new problems as I try to solve this one. Thanks again.

  • ITunes (and Airfoil) can see Airport Express but can't connect in Windows XP (error -15000) - firewall problems?

    I am using Windows XP Professional 2002 w/ SP3 on a Dell Latitude E4300 laptop wirelessly connecting to my Airport Express 802.11n (firmware 7.5.2).
    I can see my Airport Express in iTunes 10.4.1 and can select it via the Airplay button. iTunes even detects whether or not a speaker is connected to the Airport Express. But when iTunes tries to connect, it comes back after a while saying "An error occurred while connecting to the Airplay device xxx. An unknown error occurred (error -15000)."
    A similar problem happens with Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba that I use to stream music from other apps such as VideoLAN to Airport Express on the same laptop. I can see that my Airport Express is available but when Airfoil tries to connect, it comes back saying "It appears that a firewall on this computer is preventing Airfoil from connecting to xxx Airport Express. Please check your firewall settings and try again."
    I've set both Airplay and iTunes as exception programs in my Windows Firewall setting, and even added TCP ports 5000 to 5005 and UDP ports 6000 to 6005 to the exceptions as recommended by Airfoil. I've also disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection that Ihave installed. The only thing I can't disable is McAfee Endpoint Encryption, since I also use the laptop at work and I don't have permission to disableMcAfee.  I use this laptop to connect wirelessly with other devices such as HP wireless printers, NAS drives and other laptops on my home network and have never had any issues, so i think that this issue is specific to the Airplay software being blocked by some firewall (I am assuming Airfoil also uses Airplay).
    I've tried this on different wireless networks and I have the same issue with Windows XP on my Dell Latitude E4300. I've also set up the network with no security, but the problem doesn't go away.
    I also tried downgrading iTunes to 10.3.1 but won't work. I think it's an Airplay issue, not a specific iTunes issue, since I'm facing the problem with Airfoil as well.
    How do I trace what is going on that is preventing iTunes and Airfoil from streaming to the AirportExpress within Windows XP?
    I also have another Dell Inspiron laptop on the same network running on Windows Vista, and have no problems streaming music from iTunes or Airfoil to the Airport Express on the same network, even when the network is WPA-2 Personal (TKIP+AES) protected (I've seen other postings where WPA has been an issue, WEP has not, but in my case, this is not an issue). Ditto with my iPad2.
    Thanks for your help!

    I have the same problem with Windows 7 64bit. ITune can see AE and stream Music well. Airfoil, TuneBlade (airplay soft) can also see AE but can't connect and stream music. I ' ve already tried to setup firewall Exception list, even turning off firewall off both windows and antivirus but still got the same problem with the message 'Airfoil was unable to connect to the remote speaker " ... 's Airport Express". Please check the firewall on the computer where " ...'s Airport Express" is running and try again'. Any help would be appreciated !.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
