There is no best mp3 player, it all depends on what you need.
) Can't really say about the iRi'ver's or Creative's sound quality. There's hardly any difference. I just did a test with the same music and no EQ setting, and I didn't find any difference. Sound quality mainly depends on your headphones/earphones, then the bitrate, and the usage of the EQ. iPod does not have a customizable EQ. iRi'ver H320 has SRS and Wow effect but those settings drain your battery life like crazy.
2) It is true, but it takes awhile to learn. Took my brother about 30 minutes to figure everything out. Check out www.misticri'ver.net for more information.
3) FM Tuner depends on your headphones since that is your reception. I don't see much difference between my brother's H320 and my Zen Micro.
4) What the ZMP has over the iPod Nano is the 8GB hard dri've space. OLED screen. But it isn't able to play music and photos at the same time. The iPod Nano has a 4GB flash dri've which doesn't have any moving parts, that means it can be shaken, bumped, take it with you during exercising, and the flash dri've won't get damaged easily. The ZMP has a mini hard dri've which has moving parts, the ZMP is not made to be used for running especially.
Here's something you should know about the iRi'ver H320.
-It is discontinued. I don't know if another version will come out. The H320 was supposely the successor of the iHP 20.
-The h0 cannot do what the H320 can. Not even the 20GB version. A lot of people on the misticri'ver forums would say it's just a dumb down version of the H320.
-In order to get the H320 to view movies. You have to flash the firmware to the international one. You don't have to do this if you buy an international H320. You will lose DRM management or pretty much you can't used any MTP or playsforsure services if you flash your U.S H320 to the international one. You cannot get this service back even if you managed to flash the U.S one back.
-It can only read Xvid encoded movies. They have to encoded a certain way at a certain bitrate. Reading the mistic ri'ver forums will help you out more on this since people have made programs that does everything for you automatically. The file size is usually small, a 20-30 minute video is around 60-80MB, possibly less. The movie may skip or lose it's sync with the audio, check the forums for more information. The H320 wasn't made to play movies in the first place. Also the average battery life for playing movies is around 4 hours which is similar to most PMPs out there. A guy managed to get 6 hours by playing the same movie in a loop.
-It beats any mp3 player I know in features. It can be used as a removable dri've. Has Line Out and Line In jack. Optional remote control. Built in Mic that records the format in .MP3 while Creative usually has it at .WAV. Supports Ogg Vorbis. And the international H320 (not the firmware) is able to support USB to Go and is able to power on the device. The U.S H320 can't power on the device, but it can still read some devices.
-You cannot play music and view pictures at the same time. I tried it, it won't let me.Message Edited by Shinryuu on -7-2005 0:44 AMMessage Edited by Shinryuu on -7-2005 0:45 AM

  • Help! My MP3 player Died and I'm trying to recover my song

Hi Guys, I don't know if you'll be able to help me but I thought it was worth a shot.
I had a pretty ancient MP3 player (The creative Nomad Jukebox Zen USB 2.0). It basically stopped working (it wouldn't switch on or charge). However it had all my songs on it which i'm trying to gett off the hard drive and put onto my computer.
I've taken out the hard drive and I've put it in a little hard drive case that i bought off Ebay which i connected to my PC via USB. It seems to be recognising it as a USB mass storage device but when i go into My computer there is no additional drive. Below are the details of what I am using

    Any help is much appreciated

your best option would be to find a replacement player, and swap the hardri'ves.
One of the things i've seen countless times on here and other forums are people desparatly trying to find a way to rescue their music as they only have it stored on thier mp3 player/portable device.
With hard dri'ves being relativly cheap, as well as other storage methods it seem odd that people rely on portable devices as their only storage for their digital files.
It doesnt matter how well you may 'look after' yourt mp3 player, at the end of the day ts a portable devices, and will be subjected to some knocks and bumps along the way as well as a multitude of other risks ( ie accidentaly dropping it down the toilet, spilling beer in/on it and so on)
All of my Music is backed up on my P.Cs main hard dri've, and everything on my P.Cs hard dri've ( including the music) is all backed up onto an external USB hard dri've that is stored in another location to my P., also i have another back up on DVD RW of my music files.
Hard disks are cheap, as are adaptors/caddys to plug them into a USB socket, DVD RW media is cheap, your data files are irreplacebale, make sure that you have a back up[ of your stuff.

    Hi AutoBox,
We do visit these forums, but the main purpose is for people to interact with eachother. Any urgent technical questions should always be sent to Customer Support directly.
As you've probably noticed already, a beta firmware has just been released to include Janus support (so it will support Napster To Go). There's a handy thread about cases here.

  • Faulty mp3 player and customer support page does not w

I sumitted my problem online to the customer support but when I hit the submit button I get redirected from http://us.creative.com/support/contact/emailform.asp to a non-working URL http://dmzrespapp.europe.creative.com/kana/FRH
I do not get an e-mail confirmation either. But maybe you can also help with my problem below
I have an Creative Micro Zen mp3 player
When I start or reboot the mp3 player it hangs at the 'CREATIVE' logo and stops responding. This started 3 weeks ago.
I followed the steps below as suggested by Creative's knowledge base:.) Clean up2.) Format3.) Reload Firmware4.) Reboot
At each of these steps the player does not hang (I can hear the sound feedback when I touch the control buttons), but I stays there for hours saying i.e. 'Cleaning up', 'Erasing Firmware'

After I have read the FAQ I came across this last resort, tried it, and succeeded. Now it works again

My Zen won't startup, what do I do?
align=justify>If your Zen won't startup the first thing to try is see if you can access the Maintenance Menu (click here for the procedure) and run a disk cleanup. If this fails, or if you are getting the "hard dri've error" message on startup, listen closely to the Zen when it starts up. If you can hear the hard dri've repeatedly clicking at the end of the start up chances are the heads or related mechanics are jammed in some way. <B>At your own risk</B> you can try and free this by firstly powering the player down, then giving it a hard slap on the side. An alternati've and less drastic approach is to hold it in your outstretched arm with the screen towards you and twist your wrist back and forth as quickly as you can. This might indicate a problem with the player, so you may want to seek getting your player replaced/repaired anyway, especially if this happens more than once. Also if this procedure doesn't help you will also have to look at getting the player repaired, or if out of warranty you can try repairing the hard disk yourself. See the Articles section for guides on upgrading. Note that you <B>should not hit your player</B> in any other circumstance as you could damage the hard disk. Hard disks make clicking noises in normal operation.

  • Savings for Creative Mp3 Player

BestBuy is having a 25% off all creative mp3 player sale and I was looking at the Zen Micro Photo. I want an mp3 player that can hold alot of songs that I can run with, but I found out mini-hard dri'ves and regular ones arn't suitable for running...So I am going to stick with a large capacity player with alot of features instead of a flash player but I just can't choose. Plz leave suggestions if you were in my place shopping for an mp3 player.

    bosoxxrwd,
If you're planning to do exercise while using a player. I would suggest going after a flash based player like the Zen Nano Plus, Zen Nano and MuVo series instead of microdri've or harddisk based player.

  • 1st MP3 player, a Zen Touch and it wont

I just received a second hand Zen Touch, my first MP3 player woohoo!! not!!
    Day
When the player first arri'ved I plugged it into my PC and I was able to view it as a separate dri've and could see all the files and songs that had been loaded good stuff, cool!!
I installed WMP on my laptop and thought I was off and running ripped a CD and tried to transfer it's hit Sync (wasn t sure I should do that but I assumed that s how to transfer) it says the device is FULL and I know it'ss not. (25.9 GB remaining) so I tried dragging items into the sync list, hitting start sync, and NOW it tells me there is not enough storage space on my computer err!!
Downloaded the manual because obviously I don t know what I m doing no help there just more confusion.
    Day 2
    Note:
I deleted about 000 songs and had also plugged the player directly into my PC speakers for external sound it worked so I hope I didn t damage it'sbecause the Zen dri've shows up on my PC still, but now empty...WHAT!! But its not all songs are still there and they play, I just can't view the files
Is there maybe a setting or something I may have unknowingly screwed up I really haven't done anything except delete some artists that aren t my cup of tea.
I installed Creative Media Source 5 Organizer from thinking that was the ticket, but still I get a message telling me that there is no Creative MP3 player connected.
The seller supplied a burned CD with the driver version .0.0.0 so
    I reinstalled it'sstill nothing
Tried the Firmware, not sure what this is but it was on the disc so what the heck.
(Version ..3.0 and Plays4sure 2...0) but message says the player isn t connected go figure
I followed the article on checking my USB connection still nothing
Then I found this forum and searched it only to find similar problems with no solution .can someone PLEASE HELP a newby to MP3 players
    Thanks

I could recommend a few things, but will not guarantee these are the solutions.
First off make sure that your computer is detecting the MP3 player, either as a device or even a hard dri've.
Second see if there should some sort of folder structure the player recognizes, some players have this annoying functionality, where there might be hidden folders with content (since used device).
This would be my guess, see if you have a virus scanner software that may have inadvertently or through some setting may have recognized or found some content in your MP3 player unsafe and may have quarantined it, surprisingly this does happen.
If none of these seem to help then do the most default solution. Reset the player to its original settings, should be some reset button or format the MP3 player. Unplug the device remove the drivers uninstall the software and then re-install them fresh.
This is what I can think of.

  • Creative Jukebox 20gb MP3 player - need explo

Hi, this things about 4 years old... I dont know if anyone remembers it - it looks like a discman. Anyway, I dont know how I am supposed to access the files on it on my computer, since I dont have the explorer program for it....and i've looked all over the site and can not find any information about my product. Does anyone know where I can get this, or another way I can transfer songs to and from my mp3 player?

    Do you need Creative MediaSource?
You can download that from online. Go to Support, Downloads, and select any player (Pick your favorite ), and select the software. Is that what you were looking for?

  • Ipod (and other mp3 player) no longer mount

When I connect my Nano to my Mac, the battery charge icon shows in the Nano display, but the Nano does not mount on the desktop nor does it show as being connected to the computer. I have a second mp3 player (Sandisk) and it does the same -- its display shows it connecting to the computer but it never shows on the desktop or in the sidebar of windows.
BTW, I have checked Finder preferences and Ipods are checked to be displayed. I have the iPod in disk mode.
    Any help appreciated.
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Sorry can you see the other MP3 under the Disk
    Utility?
No. I also checked the /Volumes directory in the terminal and it doesn't show there either. The player display says "USB connect."

  • New MP3 player needed!! Must have FM recording functio

    Dear all,
Please could you let me know what you would suggest in relation to needing to buy a new mp3 player, (i currently have a zen micro 5gb but need more memory) however i need to be able to use the FM recording function as i record college lectures which are broadcast on the radio to save everyone having to turn up to each class. howver i have spotted though these posts taht this function is being removed. so could people please suggest a sutiable make and also could Creative mods etc please explain why this is being removed. as personally i find this the best feature and is the only reason that i have brought 3 creative products so far and am going to buy more! (i have also encouraged 6 others to but creatives rather than a well known fruity brand of mp3 player!)

So does the Zen Sleek Photo 20GB. I love mine, the sound is excellent, it is a very attracti've looking unit, it has an FM radio and recorder and plenty of memory to save recordings, different screen themes, and as an added bonus, it is the only MP3 where you can use personal photos as screen wallpapers

  • Which MP3 Player?? Help Ple

Well, My wife's Micro headphone jack broke today. This is the 3rd time for her. I have had the jack on my Micro break 3 times also. She is dead set on getting an iPod because of all of not only her trouble buy my trouble too. I am tired of babying my player to only have it break.
Anyway, I am trying to get her to maybe upgrade to a different Creative product. I don't really care about photo capability. I just want an MP3 player. I really liked my Micro but it seems to have a design flaw. So I am thinking of getting the Sleek. Can anyone comment on the good and bad that they have encountered with this product. If you would suggest it to someone or not. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your help,
    Skee

If you guys really liked the Micro, check out the MicroPhoto ... I haven't heard of anyone yet (unless I missed it) that have headphone jack problems on the new MicroPhotos. It really is a great and sturdy player (I posted below about what happened to me today with mine).
I have owned all iPod models and still I think the Creative player is a much better player. You'll have to baby that iPod, too. ... probably more so ...

  • Can you use a mp3 player other then Ipod to download music

I have an Iriver mp3 player and tried to download music to it. I have Limewire pro , i even tried added the start up disk that came with it and the computer does not even acknowledge it all. I use my usb and with a pc it would automatically go to my music file but not on my mac. I have the new leopard program and still no. Do they only want you to use Ipods??? If so that is not even fair. You have to buy each and every song from itunes. Mind you I did pay for the Limewire Pro. Help is there a way or do I have to buy an Ipod

Your system should at least acknowledge any input. Make sure the box in Finder's preferences and iTunes preferences are checked. You should have a icon in the upper right corner telling you of a external devise located. One of these two boxes must not be checked. As far as loading music (downloading music) to it, I doubt it. It may be, I never tried. When I plug in my iPod, it shows, iTunes opens and it syncs. Than I get a message telling me it is OK to remove. The MP3 player, hooked up through the USB port should be displayed. Everything hooked up via USB displays. I wou gues it is a setting within iTunes preferences.
