Irq error with a daqCard AI-16XE-50 on a mac g3

I am trying to use the AI-16XE-50 on a powerbook G3 booted under System 9.2.1 (given the fact that at the moment there are no drivers available for daq systems for the OS X...) but I get an error during the configuration using the NI-DAQ Configuration Utility: Checking the Test Resources I get the message " The device is not responding to the first IRQ level".
The card seems regularly mounted on the desktop and if I run the test panel of the card, ignoring the error message, the channels seem to behave correctly. I am using daq drivers v. 6.6.1. How can I solve this problem? Please send me any suggestion you think may be useful.
Is there any hope to get the drivers for the daq cards for the OS X? I don't think it wo
uld be seamless to build up a driver by myself using the Driver Development Kit...
Thanks in advance
Giorgio

Alessio,
thanks for your answer; I never used the card with my mac actually, but I thought that being the os 9 supported by the NI for DAQ, this was a straight forward process...
As you suggested I actually tried also to use the linux drivers, but when installing the rpm packets (in particular the first one "nidaqmxbase-kernel-1.1.1-f1.i386.rpm")I get the error "error: Failed dependencies:
kernel >= 2.4.0 is needed by nidaqmxbase-kernel-1.1.1-f1
/bin/sh is needed by nidaqmxbase-kernel-1.1.1-f1". I guess this is an issue due to the different kernels (Linux and Mac osX), but as I am new to unix languages on mac I would be happy to find a workaround for this...
Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Giorgio

  • I can't measure many signals at the same time using the DAQCard-AI-16XE-50.

I'm using a Compaq Presario 1655 laptop with a DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 on the PCMCIA slot, and LabVIEW 6i and MAX 2.0.
I have a SCXI-1001 Chassis with SCXI-1122 and its terminal block SCXI-1322 installed (I have others too).
I'm trying to measure some signals at the same time, for instance, measuring 2 load cells signals, and a frequency of an indutive sensor (using the analog way with the "Extract Single Tone Information.vi").
I realized that I can't measure at the same time my signals, neither the load cells - a 10608 error occurrs "NI-DAQ LV: No transfer in progress for the specified resource".
    What's the problem?
    Some DAQCard limitation? Configuration?
    Thanks!

    Hello;
By your description I'm assuming you are trying to read those analog inputs in parallel. The SCXI-1122 doesn't have that feature. All the analog inputs will be multiplexed to one single Analog Input channel on your DAQ board. If you need to make measurements in parallel, you need to use one of the SCXI modules that allows that operation. For more information on what modules support that operation, you can always refer to our home page at www.ni.com.
    Hope this helps.

  • DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 Device does not respond to 1st IRQ level in Windows XP

DAQCards AI-16XE-50 and 6024E give the error "Device not responding to first IRQ level. Do you want to continue?" under TestPanel in Max 2.2, NI-DAQ 6.9.3, on a Dell GX620 with a Ricoh RL/5C476 PCMCIA to PCI adapter. If I click yes, I see input on the graph, as if the card is working. The DAQCards work fine with the same adapter under XP on a no-name machine. The DAQCards get assigned the IRQ 19, which is the same as the IRQ which gets assigned to the CardBus Controller. There does not seem to be a way to change the IRQ assignments.

Certain cardbus controllers no longer support ISA based interrupts. The only Dell that we know currently does not work is the Infinium, which uses a generic Microsoft Cardbus Controller. Do you know what Controller is used in the Dell you have?

  • Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error

I am having the exact same problem as described in the following post:
"Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error."
"I'm using a DAQ Card (AI-16E-4), which didn't work properly in MAX. MAX complained that the card didn't respond to an interrupt request.
I've had this issue for a while, but dropped it, since NI support told me nothing could be done about it. Meanwhile, a seemingly unrelated problem with a wireless pcmcia network card arose. Cisco had no clue what was wrong with their card either, but I found Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q327947. It seems that Win2k (they claim SP3 and up) disables ISA to PCI routing, which is what causes this problem.
    To fix it, open regedit
    and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Pcmcia\Parameters"
edit or create the DWORD value "DisableIsaToPciRouting" and set the value data to 0.
See Microsoft's article for further details: http://support.microsoft.com/default. aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327947"
The difference is that I am using WinXP and the Regedit fix does not solve the problem. Does anybody know how he was able to continue to use the card before he solved the problem? The card works fine in MAX, but errors out in LabVIEW.

    Hey Willy,
Here some additional suggestions that have corrected some PCMCIA difficulties in the past besides the registry edit you suggested.
    1. General Troubleshooting to Verify Correct Hardware and Software Installation
Uninstall the PC Card hardware through Device Manager
Remove the PC Card from the laptop
    Uninstall the NI-DAQ software
Follow the normal installation instructions (the most important step to remember for Plug-n-Play Operating Systems is to install the software first)
Try the latest service packs for Win 2000 or Win XP
Try the PC Card in a different laptop
Try a different slot in the laptop. On certain laptops PC Cards have been successfully installed in the top PCMCIA slot instead of the bottom.
    2. Additional Troubleshootin
g for PC Cards that Return IRQ Conflicts
    For E-Series DAQCards:
Update to NI-DAQ 6.9.3 first and then update NI-PAL to version 1.6.1 (included exe file).
Download the attached NI-PAL (ni-cdu1610.exe), and run the installer. When receiving the error "The device is not responding to the first IRQ Level" in Measurement and Automation Explorer, try this method of upgrading NI-PAL
    3. Additional Troubleshooting Steps
Try disabling the 3COM adapter, and any other extraneous (for now) devices like any built in serial and parallel ports. The best way to do this is probably to disable them in the BIOS. If the PCMCIA card works properly then try to reconfigure disabled devices one at a time.
Make sure the latest BIOS is installed.
Check for any unusual PCMCIA drivers or other software that might interfere with the PCMCIA driver.
    I hope this helps.

  • Program DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 with Measurement studio

Does DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 can works with a application created by Measurement studio? I have developed a data acquisition software base on PCI-MIO-16E-4, but I want swith the card to DAQCard-AI-16XE-50, it likes doesn't work, I don't known why?

Thanks lots to Chris and RamziH,
I have tested DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 on Max, it works fine all analog channels, the device nubmer is 1. So, in my program I am using this device number, checking the sample rate no more than 20kHz and no analog output function in my program, but it still doesn't works. Does CWAI works with DAQCard-AI-16XE-50? The DAQ driver version is 6.9.2.
    Thanks again.

  • DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 with NI6715 installed in one laptop

Now I want to buy a NI6715 card and a DAQCard-AI-16XE-50 and install them in one laptop together.I choose the SHC68-68-EP cable for NI6715 and PSHR68-68 cable for DAQCard-AI-16XE-50.I am not sure these two cable can be used together in one laptop.Maybe somebody can tell me?
    Thanks a lot!

    Lincoln,
The SHC68-68-EP is design to fit in a Daqcard that is in the bottom PCMCIA slot, and the PSHR68-68 (is the strain relief right?) does not has any limitation about space... so if you use the PSHR68-68 cable in the top slot and the SHC68-68-EP in the bottom slot you will work fine. I already check them here.
    Good luck!..

  • Configuring executable labview programs originally configured with a PCI-MIO-16XE-10 on a system with a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have executable labview programs created in another lab which used a PCI-MIO-16XE-10 card. I need to install these programs in a new lab which has a PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card installed. When downloading the executable files, Measurement and Automation Explorer gave a message that the physical devices could not be located. I presume this is because the executables are configured for the PCI-MIO-16XE-10 but the PCI-MIO-16XE-50 is installed instead. Any suggestions on how to get these programs configured with the PCI-MIO-16XE-50 would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.

As long as you have the device identifier of the PCI-MIO-16XE-50 set the same as the PCI-MIO-16XE-10 for which the program was written, you shouldn't have a problem doing what you describe.
One thing that confused me about your posting, however, is the statement When downloading the executable files, Measurement and Automation Explorer gave a message that the physical devices could not be located. This doesn't make sense to me. You're getting an error from MAX when downloading your program? MAX shouldn't be involved at all here, and especially not when just downloading your program. If you can provide more details about exactly what you are doing (maybe post some screenshots) then I'm sure we can help you get your program working.
    Good luck,
    Joe

  • Odd Error with decode function in Order By Clause

I am trying to compile a procedure and can't get around an error with a dynamic order by that doesn't make much sense to me. I can repoduce the error with a plain select statment in sql plus so I can rule out a declaration error. Here is an example with 2 numeric columns and a date column.
    select task_id, display_date, remark_id from task_list
    where task_id > 1000
    order by decode('Task_ID', 'Task_ID',Task_ID, 'Display_Date', Display_Date, 'Remark_ID',Remark_ID)
    returns the error:
    select task_id, display_date, remark_id from task_list
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got DATE
I'm not sure why this error is occuring, because it doesn't even hit the Display_Date field in the Decode statment. If I take the Display_date out of the statement, it runs properly. If I change Display_Date to To_Char(Display_Date) it also runs fine, but the sorting is incorrect. Also I'm running 9.2, and do not want to use dynamic sql to build my query. Any Ideas out there as to the cause of this error?

I did find a workaround to this issue by breaking the decode statment into three separate statement, but I still think that the way it is written above should work, and may be a bug, or an error that I don't understand fully.
The Order by was rewritten like this:
    order by decode(pSort, 'Task_ID',Task_ID), decode(pSort, 'Display_Date', Display_Date),
    decode(pSort, 'Remark_ID',Remark_ID);
    Thanks

    Hi All,
I am geting the following error with a report published using XML Publisher
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
The system cannot locate the resource specified. Error processing resource 'http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.d...
    How can i Rectify this?

    Hi Ark,
In order to generate a report using xml publisher. we need the following.
    1. XML Data
    2. Template file (RTF/PDF/..)
XML data will not be created by the template file.
We will be required to create XML data. One of the easiest way to create xml output is using the RDF. We can change the rdf output type in the concurrent program to XML.
Once the xml and the template is available, "XML Report Publisher" will be able to generate the output in the required format.
    Thanks,

  • Graphic problems/errors with Mainstage 3 and MBP (15'' 2011)

    Hi,
    I bought Mainstage 3 for my MBP (15'' 2011).
When i click con "perform" i get graphic errors.
I have the same issue with the old Mainstage version since Mountain Lion.
Also a fresh installation didn't help.
I think i'm not the only one with this issue!
I don't know how to report a bug?
    Perhaps someone can help me.
(and  I'm probably not the only one (see feedback in Apple Store) If you also have this problem, please add a comment with your configuration (Hardware, Software))
    /forgotten ebi
So, here an example how it looks like when i click on "perform":

Same configuration, same problem. BUT I found a workaround.
Mainstage has this error with the AMD video card and/or a second monitor connected.
With a little app (http://gfx.io)  it's possible to really force the MBPro to use the Intel Graphics card.
This will work only with the internal screen, not with a second screen connected.
And sometimes you need to restart, to really make the Intel video card free.
This works fine...In the meantime of a fix.

Try using Image Capture to download to a folder on the Desktop.  If there's a damaged file on the iPhone that's preventing the download you can isolate it with Image Capture and then delete it from the iPhone.
