Irregular sized pics on Pixma MG5220?

Is it possible to print irregularly sized pictures on the Pixma MG5220, i.e. sizes that are not manufacturer preset, like 4"x4", 8 1/2"x 11", etc? Thus far the only work around I have found is to copy and paste the image into PowerPoint, adjust the size of the slide to the desired size, crop and resize the image to fit, then print onto a larger paper size and trim off excess for smaller prints. (No, I don't have photoshop. :-P ) This is okay, but very picky and time consuming, and generally requires a few failed prints before working out. Plus, of course, 8 1/2 x 11 is a no-go. Is there a direct work around from the usual photo viewing/Windows Gallery side? Thanks!

Hi dairon920,
You can  set a custom paper size in the driver directly.  You won't be able to print a borderless picture with this method, so you might still need to do some trimming but it should still hopefully bring your porcess down a few steps.  To set a custom paper size, go into the Print menu in Powerpoint and next to the printer's name you should have a button that will either say Printer Properties, Printer Setup, or Printer Preferences depending on which version of Powerpoint you have.  Once you are in the printer driver settings, go to Page Setup and in the drop down menu for Paper Size you should see Custom Paper Size.  When you click that it'll let you type in the dimensions of the paper you are using.

  • I am attempting to connect my Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8.  After loading software from Canon and attempting to print, I get the following message: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.  What can I do to fix this?

I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP.  It works fine.  It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA.  However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck.  I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:
    NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have been searching for answers, but nothing seems to work yet.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Let me understand:
    - you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
    - downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
    - canon is connected to that PC via USB
    - that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
    - now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

Is there a way to import the iPhoto (9.2.1) database of photos into a folder so that I may use Canon's Solution Menu EX software to print on a Pixma MG5220 ? I do not want to remove the existing photo's from iPhoto but transfer them to a folder that the Canon software will recognize.

You Export photos from iPhoto -
In iPhoto File menu ==> export - create the folder on the desktop - then use them as you wish

  • Pixma MG5220 Windows 7 can't find wi-fi connection

I have used a Pixma MG5220 printer with my Windows 7 machine for a long time.  Recently, however, I needed to re-format and re-initialize the PC.  I have the MG5220 as a wi-fi printer on the home network.  I see it as a network device in Windows Explorer.  I'm trying to re-connect the printer for use with the reformatted PC. However, when I try to run the set-up CD or Add a Printer under Control Panel->Devices and Printers, it says that the device is not responding.  I suspect that something that used to be on the PC isn't there anymore since it got re-formatted. Any suggestions of things I could try? Thanks! Urban

I have a pixma mg5220 all in one printer. Error code 5012 shows and a loud sound occurs. Running windows8.1 on hp smarttouch 15 812, MIGHT BE b12  It's hard to read. This happens rarely, but when it does, I don't know when it will start to work again. Any suggestions, please?

Hi roxyoung56, To try and resolve the error, please turn off the printer, unplug the power cord and wait for at least 10 minutes, then reconnect the power cord and turn the unit back on again.  If the error still displays, the printer will require servicing.  Please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page to obtain your servicing options.

  • My Pixma MG5220 seems to "process" unendingly with the initial print command each time I use it.

My Pixma MG5220 seems to "process" unendingly with the initial print command each time I use it. May be autocleaning, but it extends time necessary to print, and I suspect it is wasting ink. Can anything be done to shorten the "Processing" cycle or limit the number of times it occurs?

    Hi excomm,
The PIXMA MG5220 and all of our Canon printers are setup to automatically perform a cleaning when it has been a certain amount of time since the last cleaning was performed.  This is done automatically by the printer and is hard wired into the printer system.  Unfortunately, this cannot be changed.
I hope this answers your question.

  • Canon pixma mg5220 settings

    Hi,
It seems that my printer the Canon pixma mg 5220 printer utility does not remember my quiet mode settings and everytime I turn off the computer I need to turn quiet mode back on. Not sure if this is a printer issue or software issue. Any help is appriciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I'm not sure what's happening, but it seems like if i set it from the printer it won't stay on or sometimes it will but i never know if its on or not because sometimes my computer says "do not use quite mode" in the printer utility. But for now it seems to stay so i'm going to wait and see if it gets reset again.

  • MG5220

I have a Canon PIXMA MG5220 printer, and it will not print correctly after installing ALL new cartridges.  I have tried cleaning the printheads, regular cleaning and deep cleaning them, and it still wont print correctly.
    Thanks,
    Sarah

I have this same problem.  Regular text will not print, but pictures and colored text print fine.  After cleaning, deep cleaning, and manual cleaning with water and alcohol, the nozzle check pattern still prints all but the PGBK pattern.
Most advice I have received says to replace the print head, which seems to be more expensive than a new printer.  Also, other searches say that this doesn't always remedy the problem and there might be trouble with the pump or purge unit.
Each time I clean/deep clean the printer seems to be using ink (so much so that I have had to replace all the cartridges).  Does this still suggest a clog?
Operating System: Windows Vista (but also have the same problem on computers printing from Windows 7 and Windows 8)

You can only view the thumbnail sized pics. You have to import to view full size.

  • How do I print to and scan from Canon MG5220

    I own a Mac mid-2011, an iPad2 and just ordered 2 iPhone4's.  I have a Canon Pixma MG5220.
I want to print from all devices and scan to the Mac an possibly the iPad2.
Will the Airport Express or Airport Extreme allow both printing and scanning?

If the printer is a multi function device and you plan on connecting it to the either the AE or AEX via USB then no it will not scan to the iMac. However if the printer is a true wi-fi device then sure you can scan if it's connected either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi to the iMac. As far as scanning directly to the iPad no I don't believe it has the ability. However there is an easy work around, Dropbox. Create a Dropbox account and have both the iMac and iPad connect to it. Then when you scan scan to where the iMac has the Dropbox account and it will simultaneously scan to the iPad too. As far as printing from the iPad and iPhone 4's you should search for an app. As far as I know there isn't one but I'm not very knowledgeable about IOS either. If you had purchased one of HP printers that supports IOS then printing from IOS would be pretty easy.

  • MG5220 won't feed from bottom tray

My  MG5220 is giving me an out of paper message when trying to print, even though there is plenty of paper in the tray.  I can hear some clicking like the machine is trying to feed, but the rollers aren't turning.  Feeds from the rear fine.  Any way to change out the feed gears for the bottom tray without disassembling the entire unit?

    Hi GunnerV and kaylakelley,
Performing a roller cleaning on the printer may resolve the paper feed issue.  To do this, please follow the steps located at the link below:

If the printer still does not feed paper from the cassette tray, please reply with what paper type you have selected on your computer, as well as any error message you are receiving and we will be happy to look into it further.

  • Can't Print Color Photos

When I right click on the color photo it takes me to the print screen. The photo is in black and white and turned 90 degrees from the origional. If I preview the photo first it is in color and in the normal position. I have gone it and checked all the settings and thay are fine. I have rebooted the printer with no luck. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks. Frank

    Hi harthous,
First, please make sure that the ink tanks are installed in the printer correctly and are in the correct order.  The order from left to right is as follows:
    CLI-226BK
    CLI-226M
    CLI-226C
    PGI-225PGBK
    CLI-226Y
Next, a test of the printer should be performed.  This will tell us if the printer is working correctly.  To do this, please load letter-sized paper in the PIXMA MG5220 and follow these steps:
     1.  Press <HOME>.
     2.  Rotate the menu to Maintenance and press <OK>.
     3.  Press <OK> on Print nozzle check pattern.
     4.  Press <OK> on Yes.
The Nozzle Check will print.  Please compare your printout to the example below.  If they differ, please perform a few printhead cleanings.
To perform cleanings, please follow these steps:
     1.  Press <HOME>.
     2.  Rotate the menu to Maintenance and press <OK>.
     3.  Press <OK> on Cleaning.
     4.  Press <OK> on Yes.
     5.  Press <OK> on Yes.
After a few cleanings, please print another Nozzle Check.
Does the Nozzle Check look like this:

  • Image resize quality not saved in Save For Web Preset?

    L.S.,
I have been working on an Action to create 12 separate PNG's for further use in my icon-software. What I do is basically this:
Start out with a 256x256px image, save it for web four times in steps from 256, 48, 32 and 16px, (32-bit)
apply some masks / layers, save it for web again four times from 256-16px,  (8-bit)
set the mode to indexed colour / apply other masks and layers, and save it for web again from 256-16px. (4-bit)
I let the sizing be done in the Save for Web step.
The 256-sized pics give me no problem as they are not scaled down.
The 32-bit pics give me no problem as they are scaled down, and antialias comes along, but they have 8-bit transparency: no problem.
In the 8-bit and 4-bit versions from 48-16px, I definitely want no antialias in the sized down versions. So I set the resize quality to 'Nearest Neighbor'.
However, Photoshop seems not to be able to remember different resize qualities in one Action.
In every Save for Web-action that I do, when I set it to resize, it does so. But the resize quality is not taken from the setting. It seems to be taken from the last used or recorded setting.
    That is pretty annoying, because:
    - When I let the downscaled ones of the first 4, be downscaled 'bicubic sharper'
    - And I let the downscaled ones of the second 4, and third 4, be downscaled 'nearest neighbor'
Next time I run the Action, all downscaling is done by 'nearest neigbor'. That ruins my downscaled 32-bit icons - they get jaggy.
If I alter the steps in the action manually and set the first ones to 'bicubic sharper' again, suddenly all downscaled ones are done by 'bicubic sharper'.
That ruins my downscaled 8-bit and 4-bit icons: they get antialias, to lime green, and that shows...
I can save Presets in the Save For Web dialog, but as the groupbox already tells me: these presets only apply to the Image quality parameters, not to the sizing parameters. Those seem to be taken from the last run.
I have one alternative to this: before every Save for Web step, I downsize the image myself, and undo the history step after saving. It's quite some work and I would just rather see that the sizing parameters saved in the Preset!

That's never been saved as part of the S4W presets. Bloody annoying.

  • Printing 4x6 photos on HP Laserjet 4630. photo paper tray not working?

I am trying to print 4x6 photos on glossy paper.  My printer has a photo paper tray in addition to a standard letter tray.  When I specify 4x6 borderless glossy paper in the print parameters, the printer keeps pulling from the standard paper tray instead of the photo tray on top of the printer.  This has worked for me in the past, but I haven't used it in a long time.  What must I be doing wrong?

    Hey. I'm a photographer with the C4280.
This printer takes care of 8.5 x 11's pretty much perfectly. But 4 x 6 not for me on iPhoto or Photoshop.
So what I did was I set up a pages document with a blank template, set at 4 x 6 inches.
I dragged rulers about .25inches in and threw in the photo set at 4 x 6 ratio. So... most photos are 4 x 6, just resize it to fit in the rulers.
I've noticed in most occasions it cuts off the top of the photo document when laid out in portrait.
What I do is a hit command p, select the printer but choose under the drop box that says "layout" i hit borderless printing, and a selectable box will show up saying "print borderless" and i just clicked it.
on the document though you might want to make the opacity 10% to save ink. you have to trouble shoot the exact place to set and drag up or down the photo. but once you get it, its reliable the duration the document is open and the printer is on.
i know its kind of pointless for one, but i had a shoot with live printing on the spot with this printer and its great. you can add texts boxes and put those perfectly where you want (once you set the picture so its set) and throw in another picture and really customize the 4 x 6.
i printed a postcard with the writing already in it. just had to mail it no writing involved.
you also need iwork 08 or 09. i have 08 but im sure 09 works. so if you save the pages doc as a template you can just drag in the image file into where the old image is and print that way.
command p, choose borderless printing in the drop box and click print borderless. it should work.
email me for a copy of my pages document. [email protected]
i promise though, with canon or epson 4 x 6 print paper, its pretty amazing. almost comparable to my prints from my printer.
    or you can fit 12 3.5 x 2inch (business card sized) pics on an 8.5 x 11.

  • CD/DVD drive won't work!

I've been having problems with the optical drive on my iMac. This evening I tried to put a disc in, and it simply wouldn't acknowledge the disc. It wouldn't even suck the disc in... it just didn't do anything at all.
I searched these forums, and found a few suggestions (such as unplugging the computer and then restarting), but nothing seems to work.
Then, after a bit more trying, the disc I was using got stuck in the drive. It still won't read it, and now I can't even eject it. I've tried restarting a number of times, and the only thing that has happened is once it displayed the "You have inserted a blank CD, what do you want to do?" screen. However, it wouldn't let me eject the disc from here either.
    Any suggestions?
Also, on previous threads, people suggested that this could be an issue with the individual discs. This shouldn't be the issue here. I tried a couple of different discse-- one was the Aperture install disc (brand new), and the other one I tried was my 10.5 install disc. We're not dealing with irregular sized discs or burned discs-- just normal DVD/CDs manufactured by Apple.

If I have to bring it in to get it replaced I'm gonna be very upset. This shouldn't be a problem. If all they can tell you is to do "numerous restarts and shutdowns" to fix it, then there's really something wrong. I've done the restart/shutdown thing and even did some PRM(I don't know if this is right) restart thing I read in some other posts about a malfunctioning superdrive. It seems to help the iMac recognize the Superdrive. But after successfully burning a music CD in iTunes, the superdrive fails again when attempting to burn another CD. Then I have to do another reset to get the Superdrive functioning again. It's not like I overuse my superdrive. I've only burned maybe 10 music cds and 5 movie dvds. Don't get me wrong...I love my iMac but having a wack superdrive is unacceptable for this machine.
I don't have AppleCare because I didn't expect the superdrive or anything in this machine to malfunction so quickly. If my best option is to buy an external drive then so be it. I won't overpay to have another wack Matsu(piece-of)****-a replace the old one.
