Is 10g going to hurt the DBA positions?
Hi I was reading that with the new release of the 10g
database it may hurt the DBA position. The article was
saying that because the 10g database has a lot of self-
managing features (ie. self tuning) that some companys
may not see the need to hire a DBA! I just started the
Oracle9i track and this is a bit discouraging to read.

As time goes on, Oracle will be better able to automate some of the more routine operational DBA tasks-- things that probably once would have been done by junior DBA's. Those gains will allow DBA's more time to do their truly valuable tasks-- things like designing efficient application architectures, optimizing SQL statements, ensuring that the database is always available, etc. They will also allow DBA's to continue to manage more and larger applications and databases.
Software tools that allow programmers to generate thousands of lines of source code from templates allowed developers to become significantly more productive by relieving them of some of their more mindless tasks. This didn't lessen the demand for programmers, it increased it. The cost of building software went down, so more software projects could be done. The quality (or at least the feature depth) of software went up, so people started demanding more from software.

After my Macbook has been in use for a little while, the light goes off on the screen as if the computer is off. Then, as I start to close the screen, it comes back on fully. If I push it back open it cuts off again. So, I just leave it part way open and turn the laptop at an angle so that I can continue to see the screen & type. It acts like there is a short. Any idea what the problem is?
It does sound like you might have a faulty video connection. See if you can make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store.

I am trying to have a view of typical BI reports in TR and TM/CFM so through my research I came to the following link:.

My problem on this link and other postings on this site seem to be the same. Can you help me understand the use of the word POSITIONS in these context:
1. Our client has asked for financial transaction reports in BW, such as position of Borrowings, Investments and Hedge Operations (TM data).
2. I have a requirement on, some reports related to Money Market (Fixed Term Deposits, Deposits at Notice) something on FSCM-Treasury and Risk Manager. These reports will be similar to that of Loans, i.e. Position statement, flow statement, etc.
3. The set of position values for a single position or a limited amount of positions can be reported by transactions TPM12 and TPM13 in R3.
4. 0CFM_C10 (Financial Positions Cube)
Do you have some simple report outputs to help clarify how the word POSITION is used in such environments?

i just updated my iphone to ios6 and now it wont let me use my phone it says i phone was updated there are just a few more steps then im done but it wont let me get past the first screen it just goes back to the slide to update screen....
If you are absolutely positively sure that the password you are typing in is your Apple ID password, I would try once more to enter the password. Be real careful as you type and make sure that Autocorrect is not changing what you are typing.
If no luck try to proceed without entering the password. If you can get the iPad functional go into
Settings > ITunes and App Store and log in there.
If you can log into to your Apple ID there you will also need to go to
Settings > Messages > Send and Receive and enter or check the email at which you want to receive messages,
Also
Settings > FaceTime > check or enter the email address you want to be reached by FaceTime. -
How to keep the SAME position of layout on left & right pages when adding a page?
A little background first before I ask the question:
I've been converting a PowerPoint document to the InDesign format, and adding pages as I go through by duplicating a page in order to keep the top description text in the same position at the top left hand side. The document is over 110 pages- more pages will be added soon, and some pages deleted. Basically the presentation will be printed as a book, and the client we are designing this presentation for sent us the master pages for the layout.
The issue I'm now having: I had to delete an odd number of pages which caused a shift of the layout of pages throughout the document after the pages I deleted. I figured that the right hand page was not aligned the same as the right hand page, so I measured in the same distance from the left edge on both pages and made the adjustments. But then when I added a page, the alignment shifted again.
Is this an issue with the master pages? Or is this another issue? Any idea how to fix this so that the pages are aligned the same whether I add or delete a page? I've included two screen grabs to better illustrate what is happening:

VeraThose are your margin guides, and your client evidently expects the margins to be larger on the outside of the page than at the spine. Putting the text frame that says Main Building... on the master page will not only save you having to enter it each time, but will let you put it where it should be and have it stay there when pages switch sides. Your images are going to seem to shift, too, unless they are centered on the page on the horizontal axis.
I'm sensing you really have little or no experience using ID, and some basic training would probably help you quite a bit. I'll recommend Sandee Cohen's Visual Quickstart Guide to InDesign -- best book out there for beginners. -
Why, because some clumsy, careless humans couldn't stop scratching a less that 1/4 inch wide lens? That is no reason for replacing the lens and pandering to their inability to handle advanced technology is not going to push the technology forward. Tossing out cheap cases like you did for the imagined iPhone 4 antenna "problem" will not fix this VERY real problem. I have been a loyal customer since 2005 and this, as stated in the title, could be your most costly mistake. Either your software engineers are going to have to compensate for the purple tint appearing in photos or you're going to sacrifice massive profits to physically replace the lens in every iPhone 5 you have sold and continue to sell. I've read that Apple customer service has tried to sweep this away by falsely claiming that the purple tint is "normal". It is absolutely not normal by any stretch of the imagination. Do not be silent Apple customers! Let the complaints pour like Niagara Falls or settle for the garbage that has been sold.
My former iPhone 4 took better pics.
I hope Apple didn't do the same with the pending iPad mini or this could turn into a maelstrom that even Steve Jobs would not have tolerated.

Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.

Please remove the battery from the camera for a few minutes. Then, put the battery back in the camera and power it on again. If the lens is still stuck in the extended position, the camera is going to need service. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

From what i read i will need dual dvi link for max. res. but my gfx seems to have only 1 dvi output!! THO it can reach 2048x1536!
will this give me any real problem? i need opinions to help me on my purchase!

I wouldn't expect any damage to occur from running at lower than optimal resolution. Having said this, it is possible that a card of marginal power might have problems driving the monitor. If the card lacks the necessary power, it won't hurt the monitor. You will only get a blank screen.

I just got a new charger for my phone. Now whenever I plug in my phone now I get the message "This cableor accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone". Is this new charger going to hurt my phone or can I keep using it
To add to what Chris said, It isn't guarenteed that it will or won't damage your device.
If you are dead set on not buying a new charger, you can always check and make sure that the charger doesn't exceed 5 Watts. If it does you will damage your device.
For the record, I do reccomned just getting a new charger if you are unsure. -
Are you guys going to fix the memory leak in version 6
Hi I was wondering if you guys were going to fix the huge memory leak in Firefox 6. As of now I use windows Vista 32bit Ultimate and Firefox is using 164MB of memory to view www.google.com. I'm sorta confused also on how SLOW the browser is. I never seen F.F act this way since F.F 6. I'm hoping that this will be resolved in version 7 cuz this is not cool so slow in all.
On the "flip-side", I had the smoothest and quickest iTunes upgrade/install ever. This was on my Windows 7 Professional, 64bit system.
That you performed an assumedly 'clean' reinstall of your OS, is not a good sign. Obviously, iTunes doesn't like something within your system.
Here are the next steps that I would take if in your position:
- Are you absolutely positive that you have the 64bit version of iTunes?
- Re-download a new copy of the 64bit version of iTunes 10.5
- Try downloading iTunes from one of the 'mirror sites' - FileHippo is good
- Call your PC's manufacturer and see if they are aware of any conflicts with your specific machine's build with respect to iTunes
- Temporarily use another PC (if available) to get your iPhones up and running

instead of going for se78 ,where you don't have facility
for postioning your image
These are the steps to be followed for uploading graphics in R/3 system
1. First save the file as BMP
2. Open the BMP file in IMaging (Goto -> Programs -> Accessories -> Imaging) and
make it Zoom as 100% and save as *.TIFF
3. Open SE38 and execute program RSTXLDMC
4. Give your TIFF file path name
5. Select Bcol (for Color)
6. TEXT ID will be ZHEX-MACRO-*.
7. Inplace of * write your own logo name (ZCOMPANYLOGO)
8. Execute the program
9. Now Goto SE71 create your ZFORM
10. Create logo window
11. Goto text element of logo window
or
In 4.6x :-
1. Goto SE71 Change the mode to GRAPHICAL
2. Choose the Graph Tabstrips
3. Now type in some name for the LOGO WINDOW
4. Press the IMPORT BUTTON and then IMPORT the BMP file from your DESKTOP
5. The code will be written automatically. You just need to drag and drop wherever you want
the graphics to be.
Please note that in 4.6c onwards, you can also used Windows Bitmap file ( .BMP).

Set a popup Dialog to just below the caret position in TextField
I have a JTextArea in which I wish to show up a popup dialog box whenever the user presses Ctrl and I want the popup to be visible just below the caret position where the user presses Ctrl. I'm using modelToView() but I'm not able to achieve the target.

Easing a gotoAndStop(frame) given by the mouse position
Hi there.
I have an external swf loaded into the background and i want it to go to a frame according to the mouse vertical position.
Example: when the mouse is on the bottom part of the screen the movie is in the frame 0 and when it is on the top value goes to 800.
so far i did it like this:

But somehow i need it to ease between the values given by the mouse position so that when there is a fast movement of the mouse, the swf only gradually goes to the frame equivalent to the last mouse position.
