Is 10g RAC Master Slave configuration

Hi
If you read the alert logs then there is the following line:
"Setting master node info".
Does this imply that there is a master slave configuration for 10g RAC.
thanks

  • Oracle database 10g RAc an ASM configuration

    Hi all,
I want to ask to everybody something about Oracle 10g RAC and ASm configuration. We plan to migrate to Oracle 10g from 9i, and we will begin configuring oracle but we have to decide which configuration are the best.
    Our materials are bellow:
    Hardware: RP 3440 (HP)
    OS : HPUX 11i Ver 1
Storage: EVA 4000 (eva disk group)
    The problem is:
Our supplier recommand us to use HP serviguard + HP serviceguard extension for RAC+ RAc and Raw device as configuration.
But we want to use Oracekl Clusterware + RAC + ASM
My question is if anybody know what is the best configuration, we want to use ASm.
Can we use HP serviguard and ASM.
Some documentations or link explain oracle RAC and ASM configuration will be appreciate.

    Hello,
there's no extra RAC software package, but the option is only offered, if one of the supported cluster layers for the respective OS has been installed before.
10.1.0.3 looks like a complete redesign, but anyway it is a patch, you have to install 10.1.0.2 first.

  • Speedlite 600EX-RT on 60D in HSS using RT in Master/Slave configuration

I have 2 new 600EX flashes to go with my 60D.  In reading the manual, it says you cannot use the flashes off-camera in RT mode with HSS.  I didn't want to believe that so kept playing with things.  It appears I may have found a way to do it but I want to know if anyone else has tried this.  I went into the camera menu under Flash Control, selected the External Flash Func Setting option and changed the Shutter sync to Hi-speed.  I have one 600 mounted on-camera and set to Master and one 600 off-camera set as slave using RT.  I was able to use shutter speed > 250.  Please lmk if anyone else has done this and if it worked for them.  Thanks!

I've seen the same statements and also found that even using radio mode you can set the high speed sync from the camera menu in my case on a 7D.
In fact I wrote a whole great article on all the things you "can't do with a pre-2012 EOS" and how some of them do indeed seem to work at least when you only have a couple of slaves. I've also recenlty discovered something that the old cameras can do with pulsed light off-camera flash but can't do with radio flash too...

  • Master and Slave configurations

    Hi
I am currently wondering why my master and slave configurations dan't work. I have the Rev. B mother board and I set the jumpers to the right spots. I am trying to get my CD Burner to work with my regular CD Rom on the same wire.

    Jarrett,
my experience with my 3 Beige G#'s (1 desktop and two towers), tells me that a master/slave configuration with two optical drives is not really possible/compatible.
As a matter of fact, I had to opt for the following solution:
    - Sony 52X burner installed in the CD bay;
    - Iomega 52X USB burner on the USB PCI card.
I also had a huge number of problems with the master/slave configuration of drives, and it only worked with certain brands of drives.
For instance, two WD drives would not get along in the same case (data corruption like there's no tomorrow.....)
I ended up having a WD and a Seagate, which still get a long nowadays in my B&W G3.
To give you some more curious feedback on the bad habits of the Beige machines........my old G3 now sits in my son's room.
Believe it or not, I had to remove the Sony burner, as the computer would not boot from it, at all.
It would read and play CD's but it would not boot, in the most standard of the configurations:
    - CD Burner Master and 1 IDE drive as a slave;
    - SCSI card with SCSI drive;
I replaced the burner with the APPLE CD-drive form my B&W, and the system started working and booting like magic (I swear....I did not change anything else).
It boils down to trying and experimenting. I spent countless hours with those machines trying to figure out why the same configuration working on my Beige minitower would not work on my daughter's Beige minitower, exactly identical machines, both with rev. B boards.
    Hope this can help.
    cheers

  • Configuring two digitizers in master/slave

    Cross-posted from the Labview forum.
Running WinXP Home and Labview 7.0 Express.
    I'm
    considering attempting a master/slave configuration with a PCI-5112 and a
PCI-5122 that I have on the same motherboard so I can have four channels
running simultaneously. Is this worth pursuing? Specifically, I'm
wondering if there will be any sort of compromise in performance
because of the different specs of the two models.
Also, is there anything special I need to do hardware-wise to get this running?
In Labview, how would I go about doing this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi RaySun,
Here's a VI that will work and takes the following steps.  I am working on getting it posted to the official Developer Zone site:
1.- Choose the constants that will be used for input clock source depending on the board type. The PXI 10MHz back plane is used for PXI boards.
For PCI boards the master exports the clock and the slave receives it.
2.- Open a session to each of the digitizers.
3.- Configure the vertical parameters for each of the digitizers. Both are configured to the same input range.
4.- Configure the horizontal parameters for each of the digitizers. Both will run at the same rate and acquire the same number of samples.
6.- Configure an analog edge trigger on the master digitizer.
7.- Export the stop (reference) trigger from the master to RTSI 1.
8.- Configure the slave digitizer to have a digital trigger on RTSI 1. It will trigger of the master's exported stop (reference) trigger.
9.- Query the pipeline delays from the master and slave, add them, add an additional specified delay, and set the slave trigger delay. The additional delay can
be modified to line up the two waveforms.
10.- Initiate the slave digitizer first. This is required since we want the slave to be waiting for the trigger when the master sends it. Initiate the master digitizer second.
11.- Fetch the waveforms from both digitizers and merge them so they can be displayed on the same graph.
12.- Check for errors, and stop if any occurred. Also stop if the "Stop" button is clicked.
13.- Reset the digitizers to free all the lines used for synchronization. Close the session and display any errors that might have occurred.
Here's the example that should get you going, in LabVIEW 8, 7.1, and 7.0 versions (since I had to save down from 8 to 7, might as well provide them all)
Now, to save them down from LabVIEW 8, the links to NI-SCOPE VIs may have been broken, so you may need to replace those VIs, but you should be able to see which ones go where by looking at the context help over them.
    Thanks,
    mike

  • What, exactly, does the "Master Slave Config" VI do?

    Hi,
I have LV 6.0 and I'm trying to use two NI 6110 boards in a master-slave relationship so that they use the same clock when acquiring analog input. I've found documentation and example on how to do this using the "Route Signal" VI and the "AI Clock Config" VI. All of this work well for me, but I came accross a mention of a "Master Slave Config" VI in the "VI and Function Reference >> Data Acquisition VIs >> Calibration and Configuration" second of the Labview help. The info supplied by this help documention is meager, but there are hints that it might be useful to me and I'd like to figure out what exactly it does. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any more info about it at the NI website, nor can I find an
y example of how it is used. I found the VI itself in "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 6\vi.lib\Daq\misc.llb" and discovered that the diagram is very simple. It just calls a DLL routine.
Does anybody have any info on the "Master Slave Config" VI?

The Master Slave Config VI configures one device as a master device and any remaining devices as slave devices for multiple-buffered analog input operations.
The master device sends a trigger or clock signal to the slave device(s) to control the slave device sampling. In a multiple-buffer acquisition, you must enable the slave device before the master device to make sure the slave device always responds to a master signal. If you enable the master device first, it can send a signal to the slave devices before they can respond. You are responsible for the initial startup order. You should always start the master device last. The Master Slave Configuration VI makes sure LabVIEW arms the master device last for each subsequent buffer acquired during a multiple-buffer
acquisition. This is the only help I could find.
I have never used this VI and always use the Route Signal VI because it is a very simple VI to use. I believe the Master Slave Config VI is useful when you don't want to use the Route Signal VI multiple times when you're synchronizing multiple devices.

  • 10g Grid Control Installation/configuration on RAC

    Hi Experts,
I am new to RAC and I need your help.
I need to configure 2 node RAC and install/configure Oracle 10g Grid control (High Availability) on HP-UX Itanium servers. Is there any good document or link?
    Thank You all in advance
    Bell

    Hi Bell,
Here is the link for the 10gR5 Grid Control Installation Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/install.102/e10953/toc.htm
Considering the GC repository is a RAC database you will be performing the "+Using an Existing Database+" installation type.
I would highlight the below part of the documentation:
To view a list of certified Oracle Database, see Document ID 412431.1 on My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).
If you want to use a RAC database, which is configured on a virtual host, as the existing database, then refer to Document ID 561441.1 on My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).

  • Time synchoronization while configuring Oracle 10g RAC

I am installing Oracle 10g RAC on 3 EHEL5.0 systems. The problem is the time can not be synchoronized although I had already enaled the Network Time Protocol and let all the related servers to be synchoronized with the same NTP server.
I want to know why the time cannot be synchoronized on different servers?

Time synchronization with RAC is critical. Oracle will refuse to install if you do not perform this step.
You have three choices. The more risky one is to configure access to an external time server. I don't like this because it does create a path between my data server and the internet. The second is to build a time server in our data center that you reference. This is the best option as you can, and should, use that server for synchronize everything which is a great help with replication. The third choice is to arbitrarily choose one node and synchronize the other nodes with it. The downside is that if you lose that node you are at risk.
There are plenty of instructions on how to create a time server on the internet but no matter which choice you make ... you will need root privs on operating system to configure it.

  • MULTIPLE USERS 10G RAC ORACLE_HOME INSTALL WITH ASM/CRS

    Hi,
We need to install multiple 10g RAC databases on a two node Sun servers. Below is our configuration:
    1) Sun Solaris (ver 10) with Sun Cluster 3.2
    2) One ASM/CRS install (by 1 OS account)
    3) Four ORACLE_HOME 10g database install (by 4 different OS user accounts)
We would like to use one ASM instance for all four databases with appropriate privileges.
    OS User:           OS Group
    ========      =========
oraasm           dbaasm - (ASM and CRS install owner)
    ora1           dbaora1 - first db owner
    ora2           dbaora2 - second db owner
    ora3           dbaora3 - third db owner
    ora4           dbaora4 - fourth db owner
I understand that certain privileges need to be shared between ASM/CRS and DB owners. Please let me know the steps to be followed to complete this install.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    Please read that: Documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B10766_08/intro.htm
    - You can install and operate multiple Oracle homes and different versions of Oracle cluster database software on the same computer as described in the following points:
-You can install multiple Oracle Database 10g RAC homes on the same node. The multiple homes feature enables you to install one or more releases on the same machine in multiple Oracle home directories. However, each node can have only one CRS home.
-In addition, you cannot install Oracle Database 10g RAC into an existing single-instance Oracle home. If you have an Oracle home for Oracle Database 10g, then use a different Oracle home, and one that is available across the entire cluster for your new installation. Similarly, if you have an Oracle home for an earlier Oracle cluster database software release, then you must also use a different home for the new installation.
If the OUI detects an earlier version of a database, then the OUI asks you about your upgrade preferences. You have the option to upgrade one of the previous-version databases with DBUA or to create a new database using DBCA. The information collected during this dialog is passed to DBUA or DBCA after the software is installed.
    - You can use the OUI to complete some of the de-install and re-install steps for Oracle Database 10g Real Application Clusters if needed.
    Note:
Do not move Oracle binaries from one Oracle home to another because this causes dynamic link failures.
. If you are using ASM with Oracle database instances from multiple database homes on the same node, then Oracle recommends that you run the ASM instance from an Oracle home that is distinct from the database homes. In addition, the ASM home should be installed on every cluster node. This prevents the accidental removal of ASM instances that are in use by databases from other homes during the de-installation of a database's Oracle home.

  • Oracle 10g RAC installation on HP-UX 11.31 for SAP ERP 6.04

    Dear experts,
We are trying to install SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 with Oracle 10g RAC on HP-UX 11.31. Please note that, We are using VERITAS cluster filesystem (CFS) for this purpose and not HP-UX ServiceGuard ClusterFileSystem.
*As per SAP procedure, we have installaed plain plain SAP system with single instance Oracle (ref: Configuration of SAP NetWeaver for Oracle Database 10gRAC guide). Now we are first trying to install Oracle Clusterware (CRS) and then we will install Oracle RAC software. Is this procedure right?*
Which file (and its path) we have to use for CRS installation and its patch? Is it runInstaller under /oracle/stage/102_64/clusterware? With this file we can install CRS 10.2.0.1. Similarly for Oracle RAC, which files we are supposed to use, i.e for installation and patch upgrade?
Also can we use clusterware package available from Oracle directly in the SAP environment?
We tried to install CRS with runInstaller while running Configuration Assistant after root.sh script.
The following commands are failing in Configuration Assistant:
    /oracle/CRS/102_64/bin/racgons add_config erpprdd1:4948 erpprdd2:4948
    /oracle/CRS/102_64/bin/oifcfg setif -global  lan1/20.20.20.0:cluster_interconnect lan0/192.168.3.0:public
    /oracle/CRS/102_64/bin/cluvfy stage -post crsinst -n erpprdd1,erpprdd2
1st command does not give any output if run manually.
2nd commands o/p: PRIF-12: failed to initialize cluster support services
3rd commands fails in every check
Please suggest the solution and expecting answers to the above mentioned questions.
