Is 10gR2 32bit client certified with RHEL 5 (64bit)?

Is 10gR2 32bit client certified with RHEL 5 (64bit)?

It says
"Running 32-bit Linux x86 Oracle Database server on Linux x86-64 AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported "
I could be wrong but I think that means on "AMD64/EM64T" only its not supported.

OK, you are right, only 11gR2 Client is good.

  • Test same filter driver on HCK, can be selected on 32bit client machine, cannot find on 64bit client

    As subject.
I'll need to test a registry filter driver that has both 32 and 64bit version. They're from the same source code, and same
compiling options except the target architecture, and both work good on target platform.
However, within HCK Studio, I can only see and select the 32bit driver from “software device” for test. When switch to a pool
of 64bit client, I cannot find the driver. Neither from “software device” nor “device manager”.
I did check the installation, fltmc, devicetree from OSR online. They all looks similar on 32bit and 64bit client.
Anyone has idea of how to do further troubleshooting? And/or information about how exactly HCK enumerate target driver? It
is surely not from file system or service.

ack... don't you hate it when your about to give up and you finally find the answer.
I copied the mysql driver into the client machines /lib/ext and now it works across the network. It functions correctly now.
    Sorry about that...

  • What kind of hardware is required on client side with OWB 10gR2?

    Hi,
What kind of hardware are you using, on client side, with OWb 10gr2?
Currently I'm using a PC having a Pentium 4 1.7Ghz with 1.5 GB Ram but it's extreamly slow.

    Hi
For Windows, ensure that the machine has a minimum of 850 MB disk space, 768 MB available memory, and 1GB of page file size, TMP, or swap space.
For Linux, ensure that the machine has a minimum of 1100 MB disk space, 768 MB available memory, and 1GB of page file size, TMP, or swap space.
Are you running an anti-virus? If so, try stopping it and run OWB. This is due to the anti-virus action and OWB being a java based tool...

  • Is Oracle Forms builder version 10.1.2.0.2 certified with Windows 7 ?

    Hello
I need to change my old PC that is running 32 bit XP.
On this PC , I have installed Oracle Forms builder 10.1.2.0.2
I need to keep this version of forms as my customer is running the same version on linux.
I wish to upgrade my PC and install Windows7 (32 bit ) . Is Windows7 certified with Oracle Form builder 10.1.2.0.2?
    Thanks

    Hello Sunny,
I just asked that same question in a service request a few days ago and got this answer from Oracle Support:
Question "Could you please also check if Forms/Reports Builder *10g* (10.1.2.3.0) are being certified for Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit)? As far as I know Forms/Reports Builder 10g are currently not certified for Win7 at all."
    ODM Answer / Action Plan:
"According to product management and http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gR2/clientsod_forms10gR2.html , Windows 7 is certified as a client platform for 10.1.2.3, however production runtime deployments on Windows 7 is not supported for this version. You can build your Forms applications using Forms Builder on Windows 7 and test it, but when it is time to deploy it in a multi user environment, it needs to be deployed on a supported production deployment. So it should be ok to install iDS 10.1.2.3 on Windows 7 and develop your applications. The installation should be according to How to Install Developer Suite 10.1.2.3 on Windows Vista (Doc ID 559067.1). The note is for Vista, but the instructions apply for Windows 7 as well."
So I'd assume Windows 7 to be supported as well with Forms and Reports Builder 10.1.2.3.0.

  • Install Oracle 11.2.0.3 32Bit Client on Window 7 x64

    Good morning,
I just tried to install the new Oracle 11.2.0.3 32Bit Client on Windows 7 x64, most of it
works - just the OLEDB drivers are not registered ... does anyone know
how to register them manually ? the 11.2.0.2 Client works fine ....
And please don't answer "use the 64 Bit client". This is not the solution - since I have
a lot of programs that still need the 32 Bit Client ...
By the way the update from 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3 does not work ... the installer fails ....
    Thanks for any info.

  • Is 10.2.0.3 is certified with oracle apps 11.5.10.2

    Hi,
Is 10.2.0.3 is certified with 11.5.10.2....
    One more thing...
During upgrade of 11.5.10.2 Database to 10g R2...
Do we require 10g Release 2 Companion CD, if it is why it is required...with out this..cant we upgrade....
    Please give advice
following are the components from Oracle Companion CD...
    ======================================================
we are not going to implement these
    JPublisher
Oracle Database Examples (formerly Oracle Demos)
    Oracle JVM
    Oracle interMedia
    Oracle Text Supplied Knowledge Bases
    Oracle Ultra Search
    Oracle HTTP Server
    Oracle HTML DB
Oracle Workflow server and middle-tier components
    ==================================
Is the above things compulsory required to upgrade to 10g..

Yes 10.2.0.3 is certified for 11.5.10.2
Follow the latest 10gR2/11i Interoperability Notes (362203.1)
Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0)
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/showdoc?db=NOT&id=362203.1
You need to install the companion CD. 8i/9i delivered Intermedia and the JVM by default, and in 10g those products are contained on the companion CD. Your upgrade will fail if those components are not installed in the 10gR2 Oracle Home. You do not need to install the Oracle HTTP Server or HTML DB.

  • TNS:protocol adapter error (32bit client/64 bit 11g server on same machine)

I have Oracle 11g Server (x64) installed on my Windows 7 system and it was working fine. I could connect through SQL*Plus and perform all my database needs. I have since installed software that requires a 32 bit client and have installed both 11g and 10g clients into their own home directories. (Long story short, I found out that one software suite was not compatible with the 11g client and so had to install 10g.) I find that if I force the use of the SQL*Plus in the server directory (opening a CMD prompt directly at the BIN directory) that I can connect fine without the need of a TNS alias. However, if I use the default (10g due to its placement in the PATH environment variable) it requires me to use the TNS alias to connect to my local database. This is also true if I force the use of the 11G client.
I have checked my tnsnames.ora and my sqlnet.ora files and they match up to what is being used in the server home. I'm missing something though. Anyone have a suggestion for me?

    Not entirely correct.
If TWO_TASK is not set, this connection is an IPC (direct client process to server process) connection.
The client needs a dedicated server process to service it. As it does not connect via a Listener, there is no Listener that can create that server process to service the client.
So for an IPC connection, the client needs to start its own dedicated server process for servicing it. It uses ORACLE_HOME in order to find +./bin/oracle+ to start as a dedicated server process. On Linux/Windows, a kernel call (like <i>execv</i>) is used by the client driver to start a dedicated server process. I think in Windows the CreateRemoteThread() call is used by the Windows OCI driver to start a dedicated server process to service it.
This dedicated server process uses ORACLE_SID to determine the SGA to attach to and database instance to join.
This cannot happen across 32bit and 64bit boundaries in Linux/Unix. And I would be very surprised if this is possible in Windows as kernel IPC is not possible to my knowledge between 32bit process VMs and 64bit process VMs in the NT kernel.
To make a "local" connection work from a 32bit client to a 64bit instance on the same platform, set TWO_TASK to a TNS alias that defines a localhost/local IP TCP connection, in the 32bit environment. A sqlplus user/password (IPC) will now in fact be a sqlplus user/password@<TWO_TASK> (TCP) connection.
A shared server connection by the way has the client being serviced by a dispatcher process. A dispatcher process is only able to service (communicate with) clients via TCP. Thus shared server connections are only possible via the Listener. A local (IPC) connection is always a dedicated server connection.

  • UCM certified with Microsoft Exchange Server ??

    Hi,
Is UCM certified with Microsoft Exchange Server ? how can we integrate UCM with Microsoft Exchange Server as we have Desktop Integration Suite to integrate with MS Outlook..
    Thanks,
    NL

As for the link to the manual, for 10g it's here (I believe for 11g it will be similar if not the same): http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/admin/managing_system_10en.pdf
It also mentions that SMTP protocol is used. Therefore, you will need to know the SMTP address of your Exchange Server.
As for who uses it, I believe it is the majority or at least a significant part of the clients' installed base. Note that it is one of the most widespread email servers.

    Hi everyone,
    I have a mail system Exchange 2013 SP1, on Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have only one mail server with the Client Access and Mailbox roles Server.
    I have a Wildcard certificate type *. Mydomain.com.
All connections to the Outlook Anywhere Outlook 2010, Outook 2013 work correctly.
The ActiveSync connections are working properly, too.
But Outlook 2007 clients connecting with Outlook Anywhere asking for credentials continuously fail continuously.
    How can I solve this?
    thank you very much
Microsoft Certified IT Professional Server Administrator

    Hi,
Based on my experience, we need to set Outlook provider with the domain name if it's wildcard certificate:
    Set-OutlookProvider -Identity EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.domain.com
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc535023(EXCHG.80).aspx
Thus, I recommend you try the above configuration and test the Outlook connection again.

  • Which oracle client works with both Oracle 11.2.0.2 and BizTalk 2006 R2

    Hi there
My Oracle11.2.0.2 is installed on linux server. My Biztalk2006R2 is installed on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64. I have already installed BizTalk Adapter for Oracle on the Biztalk server and now require to install Oracle Client to make Biztalk able to retrieve data from Oracle11.2.0.2 using the oracle client.
    From the following link,
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa559822%28v=BTS.20%29.aspx
I came to know that the only oracle clients compatible with Biztalk adapter for oracle are as below:
    1) Oracle client 8i
    2) oracle client 9i
    3) oracle client 10i
Now I need to install an oracle client on biztalk server in order to make biztalk talk to oracle and retrieve data from it.
Question1: which of the above clients should i install on biztalk server that is compatible with both Oracle11.2.0.2 as well as Biztalk server 2006 R2?
Question2: How to install and configure this client to make it work correctly?
    Please help.. thanks.

The Biztalk Adapter interface with Oracle software has information, requirements per referenced document that does not make sense.
E.g. "10i" does not exist and the requirement "Oracle ODBC driver 9.2.0.5.4" means that only 9.2 Client can be used. (Mixing parts from one Database Client product version with another version is not allowed/supported/certified.)
Btw, does that machine happen to have Itanium hardware? (probably no, since you stated x64)
For Oracle's OS requirements, 2003 was certified with/from 9.2.0.3 (and likely also terminal patch set version 9.2.0.8). Not sure about Server 2003 R2, 32 or 64-bit. I'm pretty sure 10.2 was certified on 2003 R2, but the note likely refers to 10.1 versions (before it was known it would be labeled 10g, g for grid replacing the i ).
This FAQ may have some more information: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/faq-100614.html
For Oracle client - server interoperability and certification, there's a support matrix on MOS. See doc id 207303.1.
It seems 9.2 is supported on the wire to operate with 11.2 server, but Client with at least patch set 9.2.0.4 is required.
So, I guess best bet is to find updated requirements.
If you manage to get hold of 9.2.0.5, after verifying that 2003 R2 is ok, then it looks like the puzzle could be put together for a complete picture.
For ease of install, take a look at the Instant Client. (However, there's no 9.2 IC, that type of client install came later)
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/instant-client/index-097480.html
    Edit;
some corrections, specially about 9.2 version

    Hi,
In order to take advantage of a COTS tool, we are trying to install the 32bit client on a 64 bit machine. The OS is RedHat AS 4 Update 2 (64bit). I know Oracle doesn't certify this, but can it be done?
    Thanks!
edit: I should also add that the Universal Installer gets to 80% (linking) when it fails. Here is the tail of the install log:
    INFO: /usr/app/oracle/product/client32/bin/genclntsh
INFO: /usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/app/oracle/product/client32/lib/libxml10.a when searching for -lxml10

I know Oracle doesn't certify this, but can it be done? You'll have to use a bunch of 32 bit libraries and I don't think the compat* series is 32-bit either, but I think it can be done.
