I am looking to buy SanDisk 128gb with a speed of 45mb per second, is that enough to record and view recorded HD videos without any freezing and other issues?

Does the standard Intel HD Graphics 4000 in the 13 inch Macbook pro stand up to other graphics cards with dedicated memory ( 1GB of memory for instance)? I need a laptop for college and the Engineering program suggests a dedicated video card with minimum 1GB of video memory.

- there were a few issues with flickering on the video output to external monitors. These were solved through a firmware update that came with OSX 10.8.3 - for the majority of the users. So for most of us (me included) this issue is solved, but it seems that certain displays / monitors don't work well with the intel HD4000, don't know if there is a pattern or a list of monitor models...
- there was an issue with the color calibration on the HDMI output. No matter how much you tried to calibrate, the results remained unsatisfying. All light colors were crushed to white, wrong contrast, ...

The same firmware update improved this a little, good enough for me, but I can imagine it's not good enough if you do graphic work and need reliable colors from your monitor. On HDMI output, the thunderbolt/MDP output is fine. So it's mainly a dual monitor setup issue.
If it's for graphic work, I'd go for a Mac Book Pro with dedicated GPU !

Sure - read teh Digital Frame manual for the specs on how the photos need to to be formatted and then expor tthem to a desktop folder using those paramters and mount the card to the desktop with a card reader and drag the folder to the card

I've found out yesterday evening about the GPT Drive, when I saw it on my laptop which works fine with UEFI fastboot mode.
For the moment the main drive on my desktop is MBR formated SSD.
Is it safe to clone the MBR SSD Drive to another GPT formated SSD Drive ?
In my Partition soft I saw that it can convert MBR Drives to GPT without data loss. Could this work ?

How to use PCI-CAN LS (low speed can bus card) with hi speed devices

I'm having problems connecting the low speed card to the hi speed devices: I've setup the bus with 120 ohms resistors terminating it. The devices seem to be working fine but the can card doesn´t seem to receive or send anything. It has rth and rtl of 510ohms. The card and devices are at 125kbps. I ran the card diagnostics and it passed them. Is it really possible to use this low speed card with a hi speed bus? Don't I have to do something special for it to work on hi speed bus? Any sugestion is highly appreciated! thank you

I was able to set up a Low Speed CAN card to talk to a High speed port on another computer( simulating a high speed device). I did not have any termination resistors on the cable. Initially, I saw the same Comm errors you mentioned and this was because the cable I was using was internally terminated. So please check that the cables are not terminated. Also , verify that the high speed device itself is not terminated ( measure the resistance between CAN_H and CAN_L, with the cable connected and without the cable).
Let me know if you were able to get the system up and running. Also do you have any low speed devices that can be used to test teh CAN card with?

X220 SDHC/SDXC card reader--speed with UHS-1

The X220multimedia card reader in the x220 works on the PCI bus and can read SDXC cards. I have seen comments here that it reads the UHS-1 cards. Can it make full use of the read/write speeds of the latest cards,such as the SanDisk Extreme Pro? Also, does it matter whether NTSF or exFAT is used when the card is used as a backup device, not intended for use in a camera? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using SDHC/SDXC cards for backup?

Quadro FX cards with Color (and FCS2 in general)

I have read in other forums that there are some issues with nvidia cards in general with OSX and some applications (Maya for instance), but was wondering if anyone has had experience using Color with high end cards? Will they make a significant difference to the performance of the app? Thanks

I've got a G5 with an nvidia Quadro4500FX (too many $$$$'s) and MacPro with an ATI X1900XT. Not much difference between the two, really other than one cost about 4x what the other one did.
ATI seems to be slightly better optimized. The nvidia would generate a lot of digital sparkle here and there on edges, if there were any blanking issues.
COLOR is markedly dependent on the GPU for its colour-depth, display frame rate, and rendering speed. Some cards will throw a wrench into the UI, apparently, and you must be able to support float for full flexibility throughout the workflow, especially to the COLORFX room. There is a minimum display resolution, mostly with respect to the UI, which is locked in its layout and point/font graphics.

(the drop down menu at the top lets you choose from many different cameras)
With a 400x 60MB/s card the write speeds max out at about 30MB/s.
With a 1000x 150MB/s card the write speeds max out at about 50MB/s.

NI LS CAN Card with SJA1000

Hi,
I am using PCMCIA Series 2 Low Speed CAN Card with SJA1000 transceiver to communicate with an ECU having a transceiver MCP2551.
But when I try communicating with the ECU using CAN Api's in LabVIEW it says there is transceiver error.
What could be the problem..??

I am using NI CAN 2.5.2 and LabVIEW 8.5
I have verified that ECU is sending CAN messages, But I am unable to read it through LabVIEW.

First, we need to straighten up some terminology: the SJA1000 is the CAN controller, not the transceiver. The Low Speed CAN Interface uses a TJA1054A transceiver. The controller handles the transmission and reception of messages; the transceiver operates at the bit level, shifting the digital signal levels to/from the SJA1000 to the higher voltage levelsfound on the CAN bus, among other things. A quick googling reveals that your MCP2551 transceiver is actually a High-Speed CAN transceiver, not a Low-Speed CAN transceiver.
The low-speed CAN interface will not work with this ECU as it uses different termination, hence the trasnceiver error.
Fortunately, you can change the transceiver on the PCMCIA-CAN interface. The transceiver is located in the little black box at the end of the dongle, and you can change these dongles for the correct high-speed CAN interface. You can obtain those dongles here. You'll need the HS/HS variety (or a HS/LS if you have other low-speed devices you want to use on the other port).

Looks about right to me. In fact your sequential write speeds for the 128GB drive are above the listed spec. Don't expect to get the full listed read/write speeds most of the time, those are best case.

Depending on how you created your account, "None" may or may not be an option. I believe it has something to do with whether the account was made through an App Store request or the regular iTunes Store. For example, my account allows no card but my father's doesn't allow there to be no card.
To change the card, go to your account settings and change the information to your new card, and hit save.

Video Cards with Standard DP & HDMI Ports

Since the NVIDEA 120 and ATI 4870 both have mini-DisplayPorts, they require an <adapter> to use with any monitor other than Apple's 24" LED (correct me if I am wrong); and, since use of the adapter does not allow <audio> pass thru . . .
I am looking for a Video Card (with comparable performance) which uses a <Standard size DP and HDMI port> in order to directly connect to other monitors of my choice (without using an adapter).
Does anyone have recommendations, or corrections of what I describe?
