Is the standard 2GB of ram enough for a 2011 2,3GHz Mac Mini for doing games? Like GTA IV.
Or do I even have to go for the faster 2,5GHz model?

I have a MacMini Late 2011 with 2.3 GHz I5 and 4GB RAM and I use it as media center... It's enough to play FullHD movies but it uses 256 on 512 MB of (shared)RAM... I don't think that you can use a mini for hard gaming...
But AngryBirds Space on a 60" FullHD TV looks great

The amount of memory you need on an iPhone would depend on the apps you have installed. I will recommend going to the iPhones settings and see the current memory usage for different apps including the photo/camera. This should give you an idea of your current usage and help you decide how much you may need.
If you wan't all your pictures and videos on your iPhone all the time, you will hit that 8GB very soon. Some of my friends never transfer their pictures to their computer and they have had issues with not being able to backup to the cloud (5GB free limit) or having to delete old pictures. At some point, having all those pictures would also make your camera folder clunky.
I have owned 2 iphones and never had to buy more than 16GB ones. My 5GB free iCloud limit was also sufficient. Doing any sort of professional work on a mobile device is a nightmare. I actively move all my raw pictures from iPhone to my iMac as soon as I can and then do post processing over there. After that, I use photostream to move selected pictures back to the iCloud so that I can share with my family or friends.

I'm thinking that you have a > Mac mini (Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications because the 2010 model's only have Core 2 Duo processors and the 2011 had the first i5 processor.
2 GB of RAM is the minimum requirement for Mountain Lion, but it's hardly enough to really enjoy doing anything else.

Plus I don't have any problems running Mountain Lion and a load of App's on my 2010 Mac Mini with 8GB of RAM.

Adobe CC applications are very large and the base Mac mini isn't a good choice because it has only 4GB of RAM and has a slow standard hard drive. To get the most out of ACC you should upgrade the mini to at least 8GB. I'd also choose an SSD or Fusion drive for better performance.

Upgrading RAM in the somewhat anomalous1.33 Ghz Mac Mini

I have a 1.33 Ghz G4 Mac Mini that came with 512 MB RAM, and I'd like to upgrade the RAM to 1 GB. I haven't found any websites that specifically list this model of Mac Mini in their "find the RAM for your computer" search engines. According to my System Profiler, the pre-installed RAM is DDR SDRAM PC3200U-30330. So, I need to know exactly which RAM I should buy.

I upgraded my memory to 1GB, and used the Crucial (http://www.crucial.com) memory shown for the 1.42ghz mini, which is PC2700 memory. I did talk to someone at Crucial, and they said that the memory the the 1.42ghz mini used would work fine for the 1.5ghz mini, and they're right. Works like a charm, and passes all the memory tests I could throw at it. I also benchmarked it against other 1.5ghz 1gb mini's, and it's performance was on a par with them.
I would look at Crucial or Kingston (not valueram) memory, although Samsung and Hynix will probably work fine, too (you can scan the discussion forums for others memory experiences). Kingston shows the same RAM strip for either the 1.25ghz or 1.42ghz mini's.
If you're considering upgrading the memory yourself, two good sources on how to physically upgrade the ram are the OWC video at http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm?page=Video/directory.html and a pictorial guide from ifixit at http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/82.13.0.html.

Yes it will.. I would recommend you use the combination of Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and LPv9.1.5 (or 9.1.8 if you have to..) with that particular hardware to get the best performance out of it... I would not recommend running any OS X version higher than 10.6.8 as each new version of OS X from then onwards.. placed a bigger performance hit on the hardware... and frankly, less stability with LP9.
As to how well it will run on that hardware.. will more depend on the sort of loads you place on it.. depending on the type and content of the music you wish to compose... It will run and you should be able to create reasonable sized projects.. but again, it all depends on the plugins used.. the number of them... the number of tracks and so on... so to give a more precise answer is difficult.

It won't cause you any issues or problems....
it is however, suggested you install the same brand RAM that are of the same specs....

Installing different brands with different CL speed might cause issues....
so if you already have a G.Skill RAM installed, then install the same brand.

Hey guys, i just had a few questions, hope you can sanswer them? (i think this is my 7th question in 4 days )
1. I heard that the 256gb or higher model has a samsung PCIe ssd drive, while the 128gb model has a sandisk PCIe ssd drive . Am i correct?
2. If so, is the samsung ssd drive faster than the sandisk ssd drive? How fast? (is it noticably fast?)
3. I am not going to play any game on my air. I am only going to check my email, listen to music, use itunes, watch movies, and so on. I am not going to use Parallels, however i am going to use bootcamp to install windows. Anyways, do you think 4gb of RAM is enough for me? I think the most RAM-using activity i do is open up to 20 tabs, but that's only when i read the news(i press ctrl and left click because i dont want to wait for the news to load every time). Anyways, do you think it's enough?
4. Same question with number 3, except do you think i5 is going to be enough?

The I5 MOST CERTAINLY more than enough. 8 gig upgrade is only $90, if youre going to upgrade (you cant do it later), that is the most wise upgrade choice rather than the 256 over the 128, unless cost is no issue.
I5 vs I7 benchmark tests show little difference between the two.

Is 4GB Ram enough for a new iMac?

I'm contemplating buying a new iMac. I see that the new iMacs come with 4GB of RAM installed. Is that enough for running programs like Pages, Numbers, iMovie, iDVD, Finale (music notation software), Toast, iTunes... as well as the usual web browsers and Mail.
Would I be better off upgrading the ram even before I take the computer home, or should I try getting by on 4GB first?
It used to be that the amount of RAM pre-installed was never enough. Is this still a truism?

You are correct. The system will run nicely on 4 GB of memory but for what you are planning to do and for new things you may get into, I’d make my original purchase 8 GB (4x2GB sticks). It’s not much more money and your applications will thank you. If you decide to wait before adding the RAM, you will be able to monitor your RAM usage using Activity Monitor. With 4 GB, you’ll see memory pageouts and swap file usage; with 8 GB installed, you may not typically have any pageouts or swap file usage and everything will run better when you have a busy machine.

Yes, you're right about the boot and application start.
And that's just the point for putting user files on the SSD. SSD's are far faster at reading & writing than a hard drive... with no physical wear & tear. And when you're reading a hundred layers of HD footage and a hundred more layers of Photoshop & Illustrator documents -- for each and every frame of your AE composition -- you stand to boost the machine's performance significantly with shorter read times multiplied by 200... to say nothing of the absence of physical wear & tear.
You might also consider putting media files on an external hard drive.

I am on a limited budget and thinking of getting a macbook air 13 inch base model and wanted to know if 4gb ram is ok or does it run like crap.

Are the RAM requirements for Mavericks significantly greater than that for Mountain Lion? If not, than I can probably upgrade to Mavericks (strange name this. Sounds like some sort of nightcap) with the RAM I have.
My mid-2007 iMac can't be upgraded above its current 4GB - as far as I know. It is working fine with ML as long as I don't have too many apps open. I can still have three or four open at the moment depending on what they do and, interestingly, the pedigree of the company that originated the software. By that I mean if the originator a Mac only developer (possibly with PC as a secondary line) I experience no problems.
If the originator of the software is basically a PC developer with Macs catered for mainly as an afterthought I find apps from these developers tend to take up most, if not all, the available RAM I have even when nothing else is booted. Stereomerger.app is a good example of this.

Periodically I get a lot of page outs
but I haven't been able to detect a pattern as to why.
Does it seem like 4gb Ram will do ok with this on the imac?
I keep trying to find an article on how memory is handled in new imacs as opposed to how it was handled in ppc...any suggestions where I could read about this?

Only if they use the same RAM. That means same specs. Your Mini requires faster RAM than is installed in the MBP. They are not interchangeable.

I have a 2009 Mac Mini (Snow Leopard) with the following:

When I look at the Activity Monitory I see:
Free: 11.2 MB
Wire: 394.2 MB
Active: 415.1 MB
Inactive: 205.2 MB
Swap Used: 1.82 GB
The green "slice" is almost non-existent.
Do I need more RAM or memory and how easy/difficult is it to install either of these on my Mac Mini? Years ago I installed additional memory on my Dell desktop without any issues/problems.

According to MacTracker, the only difference between the two model numbers is MB463LL/A comes with a 120 GB hard drive & MB464LL/A comes with a 320 GB hard drive. Because of this (& because more memory is better, all other things being equal), I suggest you buy at least a pair of 2 GB modules (for 4 GB total).
