Is 600 dollars more worth it for 23?

Im deciding between a 2o inch or 23 with a educational discount but 600 more dollars seems like alot just for 3 more inches anyone agree will i be happy with a 20 also can u use educational discounts in apple stores becasuse i have one near me

Just remember that the 23" screens are designed for HD content, and are the correct Aspect ratio etc.. I dont think 20" ones are.
The aspect ratio of the 20" and 23" displays are identical, but the 20" is not wide enough (1050px) to show full HD (width 1080).
And overall, my 23" screen has been flawless. Just because some people have gotten a pink tinge problem, it has probably been fixed by now
I think there are a couple of active threads here that would challenge that perception TBH. True, happy campers don't complain and you may never hear of them again, so it's impossible for us here to estimate the percentage of duff screens, but there are still consistent reports which suggest the problem still exists to one extent or another.

The phones on the us site appear to me to be  the unlocked phones. the contract phones are even cheaper . Australian taxes account for a 10% price diference but really all the Apple products sold in Australia are at least 30% more expensive than in the US and other markets . Why are the local (Aus) apple retailers continuing to price gouge . The ACCC must act to stop this blatant con job..
There are no options currently on the USA Apple online store site to pre-order unlocked iPhone 5's.  The iPhone 5's currently available for pre-order are only availble by selecting a carrier and agreeing to a 2year contract.  The prices listed are all contract-subsidized prices.

    Hello!
I have a 8GB Ipod touch. I the other ine is worth the difference, because the simple ios 5.0 takes like 3 GB!!!
Another reason is that new  some apps take 500 MB. I'm going to ask for the 32GB model for Christmas, and I am very disappointed with the amount of files you can have in the 8GB Ipod.
    Hope it helps you!

  • Is it worth it for me to buy an iPad 2?

I'm a senior in college but will be continuing my education after graduation this year for 2-4 years more. I currently own a 13" MacBook Air (purchased March 2011) and an iPhone 4 (white, purchased last month).
I have been contemplating purchasing an iPad 2 just because I really like using them every time I've had the chance. I would most likely buy a keyboard as well so that I could take the iPad 2 with me to my lectures and take notes easily.
My question is this: Is it worth it, when I already own a MacBook Air (very portable) and an iPhone 4 to purchase an iPad 2??
If I had a heavier MacBook I would think that this was a no brainer as an iPad would be much easier to take to class and transport around. However, my MacBook is obviously light and portable so I'm just not sure if it's worth the 600 dollars (w/ case and keyboard).
Just looking for opinions, especially if you have similar products as me and you DID buy the iPad 2!

I have both and love them both.  However, they suit different purposes.  The MacBook Air is ideal for your purpose of taking notes.  It is compact, portable and has a good keyboard.  I've tried using my iPad 2 for this purpose but the built-in keyboard is far slower to use (for typing) than the Air.
I do not see the point in having a compact portable tablet device and having to lug around a keyboard as well.  I've tried pairing my iPad with the keyboard from my iMac, it works but IMHO is not an ideal solution.
The iPad is superb for web browsing, apps and limited data entry.  Save your money and stick with your MacBook Air!

  • 7 dollar charge per month for 1 year and half

I hate to rain on everyones parade, because I know everyone is excited about the new iPhone and the new Droid, however I must. I was wondering why I've been getting charged  7 dollars by best buy for a year and a half or maybe even more. Every month 10th of month for at least a year and a half this charge has been showing up on my checking account. The only reason I can think this is the case is that I bought a new phone from them like 2 years ago and maybe the tech accidently gave me some sort of data plan I never asked for. However, I have not been using that phone for about 3 months now. Is there any way I can get rid of this payment so I don't have to pay 7 dollars a month for the rest of my life on a service I won't use because I have a new phone. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't so. I usually stay away from service plans and extended warranties, because once I bought a PS3 controller with the 2 year extended warranty and the joystick stopped working but they said that I must have caused this problem so they cannot replace it. I was like so what you're saying is that your extended warranty that is suppose replace broken equipment doesn't really cover anything and they said "it only covers normal wear and tear. Like if a button sticks of the joystick loses its cover".  I was like that's fine and I bought it on another controller (stupidly idk why) and the button stick and was ok I should be fine and they will replace it. They said no we cannot replace it because you tampered with it I was like "NO KIDDING IT'S MY CONTROLLER!!!" After that I've avoided service and protection plans and that was like 2 years ago. Could it really still be from something like that? I'm just worried it's a hidden charge I didn't see on the old phones contract or some sort of data fee or something I cannot find. But thank you I will take a look at some receipts and records and see if I can find another protection plan I bought. Thanks

  • Is iOS 4 worth it for 3G owners?

Those that have updated, is the update worth it? Are you happy with the new additions? Seems like it's not that much of an update for 3G owners.
As far as the new email updates, do you have to have all your emails combined, or can you keep them separate like it is now? I don't really want all my email accounts combined.

Start with this review: http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2010/06/ars-reviews-ios-4-whats-new-and-not able.ars
It includes a lot of 3GS only features, but does review the mail features, so you can see what it's like. (The mail section is on page three, about halfway down.)
It's been a mixed bag for me. Overall, it's worth it for the extra Exchange ActiveSync accounts and the threaded mail and the changes to the inbox navigation. Also, I like folders.
However, it will use more RAM and it won't help your performance any, and my phone felt sluggish on 3.1.3 before the update.
A tip, try to clear the large apps (over 50MB) and music off the phone before you do the upgrade, it'll help the time it takes and make things a lot smoother. You can just resync that stuff afterwards, but your backup will still include all your accounts and passwords.
So, definitely a tweak update. If you don't use multiple Exchange accounts, I'd wait for 4.0.1 or whatever.

mentioned roadmap in short: Before that Flash could do anything. From now one Flash will do only two things - games and video on demand. That's all folks. In the world where technology is worth as much as number of platforms on which it is deployable I can say, Flash is walking its Green Mile.

  • OSX start up disc has no more space available for applicaion memory

Apop up comes on the screen that says "OSX" ... the start up disc has no more space avaiable for appication memory.

This is intended as constructive feedback (for whatever that is worth).
I have read all the threads since 2010 regarding the error message: "Your Mac OS X startup disc has no more space available for application memory." The solutions suggested here are well intended and surely will help the folks with inadequate memory or memory usage problems.
However, like some others who have posted here, none of the solutions posted here (since 2010) relate to my getting this error message. When I get this message, my Mac mini has no memory shortage, does not have too many applications running nor does it need the trash emptied.
I am not a guru by any means, but I've been a Mac user since 1992. I can tell you that when I get this error message it is some kind of glitch -- an erroneous error message.
I'm sure of this because when I restart my Mac, the problem goes away for several weeks -- then it comes back. I have checked my activity monitor and there are no issues with memory usage.
I suspect that some Macs develop a problem over time that causes this error message to pop up -- but it is not actually related to memory usage. It is an erroneous message, but I have no idea what causes it.
    Just my 2 cents worth.

  • Is Apple Care worth it for me? Retina macbook - please help!

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to Apple having just bought my first Macbook Pro Retina 13 last month and absolutely loving it!
My question is probably very similar to others but I'm finding contradicting answers everywhere - so is Apple Care worth it for me?
If it doesn't include accidental damage, and just software/hardware, then is there any need for me to purchase it in its first year? Or even 2nd year for that matter due to EU consumer laws?
What confuses me is that when I bought my macbook from the apple store, the employee told me a story of how a woman had just bought her retina macbook 2 months before hand & brought it in for repair as the screen had been damaged from her closing her macbook.. but she didn't have apple care so this cost her £800 to replace the screen - ouch!
But if she DID have applecare, how would this even be covered if it's only software & hardware and no accidental damage? Or are they just a bit more lenient when you have apple care?
    Thanks!

Apple makes a profit from AppleCare; otherwise it wouldn't offer the service. On average, buyers lose money on it. Consider whether you can afford to be self-insured for the risk. Make sure you understand that it's a warranty extension and a support contract, not insurance against loss or damage.
If you choose to buy AppleCare, don't buy it at the same time as the Mac, and don't buy it from Apple. Get it from a reputable discounter such as LA Computer anytime before the one-year factory warranty expires.
An exception to the above rule is that if you buy an Apple display together with a Mac, you have to buy AppleCare at the same time in order to get coverage for both.

No. Apple only offers 5 GB of free iCloud storage for all your devices, no matter how many you have got. If you need more iCloud storage, purchase storage.

  • CRS Install hostname being used by more than once for the same node.

Hi, we're installing The Oracle Clusterware and on the Cluster Configuration screen of the universal Installer (the one were you specify the clustername and clusternodes) we get the following error message in a dialog box when the next button is clicked:
"You must enter unique values for the public node name, the private node name and the virtual hostname for all nodes in the cluster. The name, node1, that you entered is being used by more than once for the same node."
Has anyone experienced this error message before and know what the cause is?
Could it be a problem with the /etc/hosts file?
    Thanks in advance,
    M

Make sure you allocate separate IP addresses on your network for the VIP addresses on each RAC node (this is not the same as the machine IP already configured on the OS).
Also, the installer may complain if your private and public IPs are configured under the same subnet.
Finally, as mentioned before, check that name resolution for all the IPs to be used. On all RAC nodes, your /etc/hosts file should be configured with:
    - public name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
    - private name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
    - VIP name and IP addresses of ALL nodes
    Hope that helps
    B.

My MacBook Pro (version 10.7.5 4GB)keeps crashing with the error message 'Your MAC OSX start up disk has no more space available for application memory' - what do i do.  I keep force quitting the applications and turning the computer off but it happens again after a while

  • Error Message: Your mac osx startup disk has no more space available for application memory.

    Hi everyone:
    I have a 2010 27" imac.  Dual Core i3, 3.2 GHz and 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, and a 90% empty 500 GB Hard Drive.  Running Snow Leopard 10.6.6
I have received a message intermittently since I got the iMac.  The Force Quit menu comes up and says "Your mac osx startupdisk has no more space available for application memory".  Sometimes there are a few applications open.  Sometimes none.  Whenever I look in the Activity Monitor Utility I see 2 or 3 gigs of RAM still available for use, and lots of hard drive space.
Im not sure why I'm getting the message, nor what to do to rectify it.  Quitting applications, like it suggests doesn't seem to help.
I am grateful for any advice.
    Lauren

    Hey Lauren.
First of all you do have some software updates you should be doing. 10.6.7 came out a few weeks ago. Sometimes doing all of your software updates resolve issues such as this.
To check for software updates click the Apple and then Software updates.
As this issue is someone broad, I would test one of the articles below to narrow down your issue.

I have a new Samsung phone and I live in CT. Last month they charged me $38 on my bill for the sales tax for the new phone which was $600. I'm paying for the phone itself over 20 installments of $30 each.  Now again I'm getting that same $38 charge. I can't  believe that the monthly CT tax is higher than the payment for the phone itself. Does this make sense. Last time I spoke with them on the phone it was for 1 1/4 hours for something simple. I don't want to call unless I need to. The salesman told me nothing about any of this. Thank you for any help you can offer.

The bill from last month states:
    CT state sales tax**     $38.10
** In some states sales tax or surcharges are calculated on the full cost of the full retail price or VZW cost of the device you purchased and not on the discounted price you pay. The sales tax or surcharges charged on your device was based on $599.99 and appears on this first bill.
The current bill says the same.
Actually, now I'm realizing that last month's bill stated I was making the first payment toward the phone. Now this month also says it's the first payment toward the phone when it's really the second.
