Is 7.4.1 preventing me syncing properly??
I just took delivery of my new (older) iPod 80GB video. Brand new from apple online, and so far I can't get it to sync with any more than 15.75GB of my 40+GB iTunes library. I've followed all the advice on the discussion boards here, and spent 90mins with apple phone advice (very helpful and patient bless em) trying to get the thing to work, now to my utter horror our old iPod (20GB) won't sync either. Both are getting the error message "...the disk could not be read from or written to..."
After upadating iTunes, and since then updating the iPod software, and verifying and fixing all disk permissions, tried deleting the track that was syncing at the time (no luck) and all the other fixes i've been able to find here on the discussions, I am now at my wits end. Is there a way to undo my last iTunes update? or has anyone got any bright ideas about how to fix this?? Is anyone else having the same issues with last gen iPods and new iTunes??

Sadly have been unable to back up my iTunes library as it stops about half way thru telling me that there is a problem with one of the files. I can't find this file or any trace of it, so I guess that's a problem!!
Sent the new iPod back to apple and got a new one. Same problem..... NOT amused. Apple tech unable to help, why oh why is this happening??????
Anyone from apple out there who can help me? and these other people who are having the same problems?????????????

Ical - deleted events prevent from syncing with missing sync
When I try to sync ical with my windows mobile 5.0 running Motorola Q via Missing Sync, I always encounter an error message that one of my ical-events prevents Missing Sync from an error-free sync.
This message comes up when I start Missing Sync: "iCal is reporting synchronization errors. One or more calendar events may not have synchronized properly from iCal. Errors may prevent this application from completing a successful synchronization."
The Missing Sync Protocoll rerfers to an event which I did already delete. So here's the question: how do I really get rid of a ical event which I have already deleted?Same here. After the update to 10.5 I have succesfully done one sync between my Treo and iCal using MissingSync. Now iCal gives an error, see below. What is the workaround? Downgrading to 10.4.x? Or get an iCal 2 somewhere and run that?

HT1353 Ipod won't sync properly and refuses to play certain songs
My Ipod Nano 5th gen won't sync properly and when I choose a song it shows the title of a different song and plays a song different to the song title shown or chosen.
What do you mean it won't sync properly? Do you get any error messages in iTunes?
Have you tried any of the usual 5 R's of troubleshooting yet?

This is getting really annoying as syncing my iPad 1 now take forever. It says it is syncing and goes through all the motions, and it does sync my apps,
but none of my musi, photos, books or podcasts, even though it's only half full so it has plenty of space. What I do at the moment is use "autofill" to add the music and podcasts and then I drag the new books from my iTunes library to my iPad in Itunes (I have a PC, by the way), but I still haven't found a slution for my photos - at present it's supposed to add all the photos in one of my folders on the computer, but it hasn't added the new ones in a long while.
I suspect this might have started when I added iOS 5, but I'm not 100% sure. Another thing I had lots of difficulty with earlier is that the music I synced was all greyed out and couldn't be played, but I solved that by choosing "manually manage music and videos" in Options. This might be why it's not syncing properly, but last time I tried reverting that it just greyed out my music again! What do I do?
Oh, one last thing - the music and books I'm adding at the moment aren't purchased from the Itunes stores, if that helps. Just the podcasts, and they seem to eventually add themselves after the sync.

I updated to new ios and now it is not syncing properly. New songs are not showing up on the ipod display but when I view the device on my computer, they are in the playlist but there is a dashed circle beside the missing songs. It previously synced perfectly before the IOS update. How can i revert back to the previous installed version?

I'm having great difficulty syncing my iPhone properly since upgrading to the newest software of both.
Ever since upgrading to iOS5 and the newer iTunes (10.5), my phone will start to sync but then get stuck on 'waiting for items to copy' and most of the time doesn't copy across (or back, depending on what it is). Sometimes if I sync a few times it eventually works, but other times, like at the moment, it won't do it properly. For instance, I've bought a song on my phone but now it won't copy across to the computer, and iTunes on the computer thinks I've already downloaded the song so I can't get it off there. It's incredibly frustrating but it used to work so well!
What can I do to make it sync properly? I was hoping a fix would be in iOS5.0.1 but I upgraded to that yesterday and it still does exactly the same things. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.Have you tried a Restart and a Reset...

Restart the Computer. This sometimes happens to me when I keep my Windows 7 on Sleep, and I try to sync my Ipod
Make sure you have the latest version of Itunes

Hi iPad users - I seem to have this problem with both the iPhone and iPad. I can make entries onto my computers calendar and they will sync properly on either the iPad or iPhone, but when I enter new information on the iPad or iPhone, which is usually the case, syncing does not result in transfer of updated information from my devices calendar to the computer's calendar. What am I missing here? Thanks!
Same problem as TrailJim, but 4 related problems...
Synced data did NOT xfer to Mac from iPhone (did xfer the other way). I rechecked settings and synced again. Still none of the info from iPhone went to computer.
But now I have FOUR COPIES of some calendar items, three copies of some and two copies of others in the iPhone. There are hundreds, possibly thousands of duplicates going back several years and reaching into the future. Many of these dupes were not on the Mac at all- the system duplicated items that were only on the iPhone.
It takes 15 seconds to delete each duplicate item (five 'clicks', two scrolls)- there is no bulk delete option. Duplicates will take hours to remove. It was only 3 months ago I finished cleaning out the duplicates from the last sync. OK, I cleaned cleaned out 1 year of data in about 1.4 hours. I noticed that data deleted long ago re-appeared after the sync. The iOS calendar crashed twice and the entire iPhone crashed once during editing.
And still it won't xfer calendar items from iPhone to Mac. So these are the 5 problems:
data won't transfer from iPhone to Mac
massive duplication of data during sync
no way to quickly remove duplicates
deleted data never goes away
iOS device crashes during massive editing
After 4 years Apple still can't get sync right. Are there any workarounds? A paper calendar would save hours of work every year. A Google calendar would probably work more reliably if you don't mind sharing your personal data with them. Not to mention all the other data- contacts, music, etc that people have lost with this sync system.

ICal not syncing properly w/ iPod Touch
I believe this is an iCal problem, not an iPod issue:
My new iPod Touch is not syncing properly with my iCal calendars. I notice after syncing "All Calendars" that some of my appointments in iCal were showing up, but most were not. And some events on my iPod were not on my laptop. I tried the "Replace Information" option under Info in iTunes, but it didn't help. Then I noticed something even weirder -- the list of Calendars that appears in the "Selected Calendars" list in iTunes is NOT my current set of calendars. The iTunes list includes some calendars that I have deleted or renamed, and is missing some new ones. So I guess I'm not surprised by the events being out of sync, but how can this be? How can iTunes be picking up an obsolete set of calendars and events?
I tried a backup within iCal, then deleted every calendar one-by-one, leaving just a new calender named "empty". I quit iCal and iTunes, and also deleted four files in my Prefs folder and the iCal folder in Application support. Then I did restored from my iCal backup, and quit and restarted both iCal and iTunes. After all that, iTunes still shows the old list of calendars.
I'll also mention that iCal itself has been very squirrelly for quite a long time. Every so often it will just "run away", chewing up CPU and memory until I force-quit. Haven't solved that one, yet, either.
Any suggestions?PROBLEM SOLVED: I backed up my iCal data (from within iCal); quit; deleted all prefs, iCal cache files, and the whole Calendars folder in my Library; then relaunched iCal and Restored from my backup file. iTunes then showed the correct list of calendars when I connected my iPod touch, and I got a proper sync. Who knows, maybe this will also fix the frequent runaway crashes I've been having.

Sync between MacBookPro and iPhone 3G does not sync properly. Calendars duplicate events but worse is that only contacts from Address book from letter T onwards sync. Any contacts on iPhone which are not on Mac are lost during sync.
Solutions?No, I never really found an easy solution. I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device. In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs. A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup. It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad. But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost. When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might. If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it. I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by. -
My playlists do not sync properly with my iphone
I have playlists in iTunes, which is fully up-to-date, on my 4 month old MBP.
When I sync these playlists with my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.01), the playlists are incomplete on the iPhone.
For some reason, some of the songs are missing in the playlists, though the songs themselves ARE on the iPhone (and can be played outside of the playlist).
Solutions tried so far...
I removed all of my music (and playlists) via iTunes from my iPhone, then re-sync'd them. No change.
I deleted one of the incomplete playlists (one that wouldn't sync properly from iTunes), I recreated it, and tried to sync it with my iPhone. No change.
I'm at a loss. Why would SOME songs in my playlists show up, but NOT ALL? I suspect this has something to do with iOS 5.01, iCloud, and/or NOT using iTunes Match???? I've never had a problem with syncing before iOS 5 and iCloud.
I'd appreciate any solution to this problem.
Thanks.I have this exact problem, I switched to ios5 on my iPhone 4 and tried syncing it with my mac mini. All the playlists are complete on itunes but for some reason 75% of the playlists are empty on the phone but the music all there.

My ipod touch (model A1213) is not syncing properly. I have updated the software to the latest (2.2.1) and have even resored it. Itunes says it is working and updated but will not sync and apps. Error message says that app will not sync because a newer version needed.

My Ipod touch is not syncing properly. I download podcasts and it will not allow me to delete some shows after they have been listened to. It is a neverending cycle of deleting unwanted podcast episodes from itunes on the computer, plugging in my ipod, syncing, and then it always takes the already listened to episodes, and puts them back into itunes on the comp. I then delete them on the comp again, sync the ipod, and it again pulls them over from the ipod. I have it set up to only sync unlistened to episodes, and beyond that, only checked things, but it does not seem to matter. The only thing I can do to get the episodes off the ipod for good is to do a factory reset, and that absolutely should not be necessary! Any ideas for something I am not seeing that is allowing this to continually happen? This just started happening a couple of months ago. Not sure what changed, but would like it fixed! Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

After install itunes7, everything becomes so weired. 60g video ipod can't be sync properly. Most of my songs sync to ipod "others" instead of the ipod "music" which been shown by the itunes. Only a few songs go to the "music". After disconnect the ipod from PC, I can only find few songs in ipod. I have 2993songs, 14.76gb in total. The leftover 14gb all go to "others". I really don't know where is "others" and what "others" means. I try to re-install itunes7 and reset ipod. Then, other problems come to me. When I try to sync, there're pop up message says "Attempting to copy to the disk "Yim C" failed. The dish could not be read from or written to" and "The ipod "Yim C" cannot be updated. Thanks. I did follow the troubleshooting and still some problems exist. After I update the new version of iTunes and iPod software, same problem coming up. Then, I try to use back the old iTunes Library, delete the iPod Photo cache, move all the photos into another hard drive, etc. Finally, everything goes into my iPod. However, another problem coming up which is I can only watch the video in the iPod but without sound. I did convert the video that iPod can read. I have no idea why there's no sound at all.
