Is a cracked imac screen fixable?

My kids knocked over a heavy picture frame off a shelf above where my imac sits. it now has damage to about a 1/4" space right on the top, middle, near the camera. The camera still works but the glass is chipping and I'm worried it'll chip further if it's moved or touched. Is there a replacement screen for purchase? Or is there a repair shop that can do the work?

Might pay to have it done, but the Glass seems pretty easy with 4 suction cups... OR one big one!

Has anyone else experienced a cracked imac screen that just happened?

This is my first post here as brand new mac user. I decided to purchase the new iMac. However not all has gone well, firstly I knocked it off the desk and shattered the screen on New years day. Insurance claim was processed and after an extra £200 excess I had a like for like replacement.
I have woken up this morning and gone to use it and noticed a thumb sized crack / chip on the right edge. I can categorically say that no collision or accidental damage was done this time to cause this damage.
Has anybody else experienced anything like this. I have an appointment with a genius in the store on Tuesday evening and am prepared to fight this very strongly as I am convinced there must have been a manufacturing defect in the glass. Pics are posted below. The side shot shows no damage at all to the casing.

The problem is this is a brand new iMac as the last one was unrepairable believe it or not for just a cracked piece of glass.
This brand new one I have had for a week and got up today to find it like this! I know people will say it has been damaged by me but I am telling the truth. I'm sure the glass itself must be defective.

You should also check at OWC where they do Apple upgrades and have instructional videos on how to remove the screens. I dont know if they sell...or if you can find a screen and replace it yourself. Removing the screen isn't super easy but it's also not too tough.

Yes. Put the old MacBook into Target Disk Mode then connect it to your iMac using a FireWire cable. Note that if your iMac is a new one, you may need to use a FW400 (which is what the MacBook has) to FW800 adapter.
Once the two computers are connected, use the Migration Assistant to do the actual transfer.

Less than five minutes, if you have a clean room!
By that I mean a room with absolutely no dust in the air.
I had my 27" iMac's LCD replaced yesterday at home, and the hardest part of the job was making sure there was no dust particles stuck between the LCD and the front glass.
It took at least 6 to 8 attempts, cleaning the screen and glass with static free cloth and sticky roller, before having a "clean install".
Other than that, yes, it's easy to do.

It sounds as if your graphics chip (on the logic board) is failing. The other answer could be that your screen is not well, but I lean more towards the graphics chip. If you have Apple care or are still under warranty, call Apple.

Ipad will connect no problem to other networks.

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

Now when I try too connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my computer at home an error message comes up saying that I have to unlock my iPhone 4 for it to communicate to my device.
But the problem is that I can't unlock my iPhone 4 because I'm unable to see the key pad and my touch screen no longer responds when I touch it.
I just want to reset my iPhone 4 back to its Factory Settings & start all over from the beginning.

If you have had a "local guy "repair your iphone you will not get any support from Apple for warranty OR post warranty
If Verizon return it to Apple it wil not be handled by Apple
If Verizon also use unauthorised repairers you may be lucky
(Apple do not sell parts to local guys or anyone else )

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the monitor. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the monitor and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the monitor your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.

When I press the Command + F2, the iMac screen becomes a secondary for the MacBook Pro, and the Thunderbolt Display becomes the primary screen for the iMac. Yes, eww, the language definitely states two thunderbolt displays, but I can understand the confusion and was siding with how they could make the mistake to think it would work like they want it to. My appologies for not being clear on that point, but I think you make it clear that the language in the ad says nothing about an imac.

I dropped my iPhone 4 & cracked its screen. Apple wants me to pay for replacement unit (I agree), turn in my old phone (??) & wait for 6 days (no problem). What do I do to access emails, Internet & make/receive calls during these 6 days?

I dropped my iPhone 4 & cracked its screen. I went to the service center to get it repaired. SInce it is not under warranty, i was willing to pay for repair charges.
They told me that the screen can not be repaired or changed, but they can replace my damaged set with an equivalent set, on payment of RM 760, roughly, 25-30% cost of a new one. I agreed.
They told me to:
1/ pay upfront
2/ leave my old set with them
3/ and the replacement unit will be delivered in 4-6 days.
I agreed on 1& 3 but not to leave my damaged set with them because it is still working and I don't have another spare phone with me, to serve me the 4-6 day waiting period.
THe service center guy told me that if I want a replacement, I have to agree to all 3 conditions and that I should buy another phone for 6 days. I told him that I constantly need email & Internet access, as part of my work responsibilities, so I can not do with a simple phone. It obviously, doesn't make sense to buy an expensive smart phone, go thru the trouble of transferring my data & mails & contacts - just for a week.
Unfortunately, all these logics fell on deaf ears & the service centre guy kept insisting on ALL of the above conditions.
I came back so flustered & upset.
I thought customer service was about solving problems & not creating hurdles for customers.
what should I do?

What would you do for transportation if you drove your car into a tree and had to wait while it was fixed? You'd need to rent, borrow or buy another car, no? The same applies to your phone. This is not Apple's problem; if the service center does not have replacements in stock for immediate swap-out, then it's up to you to provide a backup device or do without.
If you're in a country where Apple provides direct service for iPhones, you may be able to call Apple support and arrange for advance replacement, where they send you the replacement phone and then you send back the old one. Apple offers such service in several countries, though you have to pay an extra fee for the service. If not, then you'll just have to wait for the service center to get in the replacement, and will have to arrange an alternative to use during that time.
