Is a iPod Touch 4G usable anymore?

Hey Apple Lovers!
I have a 8GB Apple iPod Touch 4G and well literally cracked the screen yesterday (thought it never would crack but did yesterday; totally ******) plus there were some dead pixels along with it not supporting iOS 7. So in the present time (2014; 2013 ending) is a ipod touch 4G even good? I mean it'll stop working at some point, plus I don't think mine will last longer than 3 months or so. I'm ordering a 5G anyway in April. The point is, is a iPod Touch 4G 'usable' anymore now? Or has it lost its popularity because Apple certainly dropped its sales. Thanks!

The hardware (memory (RAM)) on the 4G iPod prevents it getting iOS 7. The 4G iPod has 256 MB of RAM compared to the 512 MB or more for the devices that get iOS 7. Thus, the 4G will not be compatible with newer aps and app updates.

My lock button on my ipod touch doesnt work anymore please help it works fine otherwise well and the battery is all the sudden dying really fast and these 2 problems started at the same time.

Cannot Download Podcasts On iPod Touch Generation 2 Anymore

I bought my iPod Touch(gen 2) last year and I never had a problem with downloading podcasts until recently? Is my iPod obsolete?

Shouldn't have issues relating to podcats, are you receving an error?
In terms of the other, you won't be able to update the iPod, that model is around 3 years old, but it should continue to function as it always has.

Previous ipod touch case usable on new model?

Anyone know if the available ipod touch cases can be used on the new slimmer model? I assume if there was a new case, it would be in the store, but I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure. Thanks in advance!

I've been wondering the same thing and don't think they're compatible. Apple lists the iPod touch and iPod touch 2nd generation models separately in identifying accessory compatibility. I looked at several cases, and they only show the iPod touch logo. More universal applications, like screen protectors and A/V cables, list both models.

Ipod touch not working anymore.

My ipod touch 3g has seize to work properly. This all started when i restore my ipod from the setting ipod we area. After i did this, my ipod stayed on the itunes logo with usb screen. I tried doing a restore through itunes, but keep getting error code 1604. I have tried various methods to try and fix this issue, like restoring it from a different computer, putting it in dfu mode, etc. Since none of this works, i decided to go to apple support and get online service so i can get a replacement or get it fixed. Turns out, when i go to the last step in the process, i recieve a message that states that the service is not currently available, and that i should try again later. Anyone able to help me out on this? I don't want to pay for phone support because apple is obligated to give me online support since i still have a year warranty. Dont want to go a apple store since the closest one is 2 hours away. Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem.Tried same restore methods with same results.Got in touch with a local sevice specialist and they couldn't help me.The next problem i have is that my ipod is 1 month out of warranty and at £300 i'm not happy at all.If anyone could help it would be appreciated.Thank you

Why won't my iPod Touch turn on anymore?

My iPod Touch (8GB, 2nd or 3rd gen.) won't turn on. It won't charge or enter recovery mode. It isn't jailbroken, and never got wet... it just simply stopped working. The computer doesn't respond at all when I plug it in.
I've tried everything I can think of, short of breaking the whole thing open. I'm out of ideas.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks, I checked that link and (after a little link-hopping) I found one thing I hadn't tried yet. Sadly, it still didn't work. The nearest Apple store to me is almost a 40 minute drive away, but it looks like I might have to make time for the trip if I have any hope of getting this fixed.
Starting to wonder if I should just buy a new one though...

I just updated it and itunes. It wont charge via outlet usb device or my computer. When i plug it into my computer it says unrecognized usb devise. Please help!

Help ! please. my ipod touch will no longer connect to my wifi! driving me crazy!

Okay I recently moved and changed internet providers. The first couple days i had no problem connecting my ipod touch to my wifi internet and then all the sudden it just disconnected and wont connect back! it connects to other wifi networks just not mine. It shows up on my ipod but nothing happens when i tap connect. i have 2 Laptops and a Ipad that are connected its just this ipod touch wont connect anymore! Please help me! does anyone know how to fix this problem!??!?!

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

HT1926 Problems synchronizing iPod touch after installing latest iTunes update

After having installed the latest iTunes update I can't sync my iPod touch with iTunes anymore. Error message reads: Attempting to copy to the disk "Acer" failed. The device is not connected." I already re-installed iTunes completely. Another error message says: "iTunes could not back up the iPod because the iPod is disconnected". But the iPod was connected. What can I do?

Nothing... why would they do anything?
Apple does not provide insurance and they are not law enforcement.

After upgrading to Lion , itunes does not recognize my ipad, ipod touch anymore.

Yesterday I updated to Mac OSC Lion on my original Intel Macbook (the first Aluminum Macbook) with 4GB RAM.
Today I had a run in with my ipad and ipod touch, both of whom are not being recognized by itunes anymore.
My ipod shuffle and classic are still being recognised and do sync.
I have read through the support pages and annoyingly even factory-reset my ipad, which cannot be used anymore due
to itunes not recognizing the device !
System profiler does show either ipod or ipad being connected to the usb port. Resetting of the devices did not help (see above)
Any clues to this inconsistent behaviour differentiating between classic ipods and ipod touch/ipad ?

update: It seems like the XCode update did interfere with itunes. I reran the XCode install this time with itunes not running. This seems to update all necessary drivers and Library items correctly.
After this IPad and IPod touch were working fine again.
