Is a physical copy made when making a virutal copy of a photo?

I understand that in order to make different edits of a photo (ie crop the left for one, crop & edit the right side for a second print) a virtual copy must be made.
If that is true, where is the second copy (and its sidecar) saved?  Thank you

A virtual copy is a second copy of all the metadata, and is stored in the catalog. There is no physical image file for a virtual copy. However, you can open that virtual copy into Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or some other external editor and the results of that editing will create a copy of the image.

  • When making an movie with iMovie from photos, some photos seems to move when watching on a screen. Too much light ? Too much white ?

    When making a movie with iMovie from Photos, some of them seems to move when watching on screen or TV.
    It seems to be a brillance problem but I tried to make the light or the blank lower without result.

    Hello
    The movement you see on photos in iMovie is most likely the Ken Burns motion effect, which you can modify or turn off.

  • When making a book, one of my photos selected appears only on the flap, how can I get it to be in the book also?

    1.  When making a book using Iphoto, one of my photos selected appears only on the back flap, how can I get it to be in the book also? I added an extra page thinking that would help, didn't!
    2.  It says that you can photos anytime, can I add a photo that I did not select originally without starting completely over?
    ...any suggesstions for both problems would be appreciated. Thanks

    you can use a photo many time is the same book - simply drag it from the photo strip to the photo frame you want it in - even though you have used it before you can still use it again
    And adding photos is easy - go to the photo (in an album, event or photo view) and drag the photo(s) to the book under keepsakes - it will now be available to use

  • Sending a copy of a photo within iPhoto

    How do you send a copy of a photo, stored within iphoto, to someone via e-mail,  as an attachment, so that it can be printed by them?    I want to send the physical copy of the photo, not just a picture within the email.

    In iPhoto's General preference pane set Mail as the email client to use from iPhoto:
    Next, select the photo you want to eamil and click on the Share button at the bottom of the iPhoto window (iPhoto 9):
    That will open a new email with the photo in it.  Select Full Size in the window that comes up in iPhoto:
    and in Mail:
    The rest is self explanatory.  Even though the photo appears in the email window it is attached and will be downloadable by the recipient.
    If the recipient has problems with this method export the photo out of iPhoto via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export, compress (zip) the file by Control-clicking on the file and select Compress "xxxx" from the contextual menu:
    Then drag the zipped file into the email window as an attachment.  The recipient will have to unzip the file before being able to use it.
    HOWEVER, the first method should work.

  • How to make a physical copy of database when using ASM

    I used to make a physical copy of production database
    every night to create test environment. I have
    simply physically copied files, recreated control file,
    ... to create it.
    But on 10g I want to use ASM, is there some way
    to do physical copy of the database similar way?

    You can not directly to duplicate a regular database that does not use ASM into new one that does not use ASM. The problem with ASM is that you can not see the files directly at the disk level.
    If you use RMAN you could use the command duplicate and all would be easier.

  • Why am I getting the flag Invalid URL for web content overlay when making scrolling panel in Indesig

    Why am I getting the flag 'Invalid URL for web content overlay" when making scrolling panel in Indesign? Iam making additions to existing articles but the problem is new. The articles were originally made using CS and now I am on CC, which I have just uninstalled and re installed, no difference, can anyone help please? Steve

    Hi Bob, thankyou very much for coming back on this. The flag is coming up towards the end of the preview process on desk top. I have made dozens if not hundreds on my two published apps on the app store, but have not done an update for nearly a year, in which time I have needed a refresher, and as usual went to Lynda. In this case I have followed to the letter your DPS course, which is great, and I found the process of making the scrolling panels somewhat easier than when I started 2-3years ago. Initially I was mystified that the flag talked about url and web content, but just put it down to something I had missed in recent improvements in CC.
    I tried over and over, but always got the same result. I thought at one point it might be because the content of my slide was copy and photo, so for a test I deleted the photo. Same result, and many of my existing slides are copy and picture.
    I also uninstalled Indesign CC and reinstalled in case of corrupted content, I also copied to IDML and relaunch, same problem. I am sure I have made the scrolling content as instructed, The one thing I havn't done is trash my preferences, if you think that would be a good Idea could you please direct me to some content at Lynda on how to do it in CC. Many thanks, Steve

  • Install OS X Lion on new hard drive without a physical copy/install disc

    Hi,
    i´ve just upgraded my new macbook pro with a bigger harddrive. While I don't own (didn recieve) a physical copy of OS X Lion, i can't (respectivily don't know how to) install the operation software on the new HD. Is there a way to install OS X Lion anyhow?
    Greetings
    Stan

    You first need to install Snow Leopard and then, you can install Lion via the App Store.
    I suggest making a copy of OSX Lion on a USB key. "Lion Diskmaker" from "macupdate" will walk you through the process.

  • When making a PDF in Indesign CS5 crashes?

    Is there any way to reset the PDFs Presets in Indesign. The High Quality PDF (that is a preset already in Indesign) started to crash ages ago. I just made up new PDF Presets. Now it seems that when making PDFS whether Press Quality or the ones I have made myself it crashes. I launch Indesign then can make a PDF but then when I open another document it crashes again? Any help greatly appreciated

    Please see Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding for directions to to produce a Hang report, then a forced crash and report, and put both of them on Pastebin.com, not here, and put links to both of them here. We may be able to pin down the problem from the reports.
    I'm about to quit for the day, so either someone else will help you, or I'll pick up again in the morning.

  • Problems with Imovie 11 version 10.0.5 when making film

    I have an IMAC  OSX 10.9.5.
    Imovie version 10.0.5
    I have imported images from my recent trip from my Canon full HD video camera. Made a film in 2 parts because of the length. First film was OK could get the option of HD 1080 and went fine. When making part 2 of the film I can only get HD 720 and HD 1080 is unavailable? How is this possible from the same import?
    Anyone pls any suggestions.
    I thought the second film might have been too long but when I shortened it and tried to make a MP4 could again not get the HD1080.

    Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

  • Disable Properties Panel Popping up When Making Shape?

    As title says, can you Disable Properties Panel Popping up When Making Shape?
    Sorry if this is a silly question, I can't seem to find the anwser anywhere. Whenever I make any shape it keeps bringing the panel up.

    As I don't like the way it covers the image, I docked it on top of the layers panel, and made my own workspace. I've read there is a new contextual menu to the panel on Photoshop 14.1

  • How to remove/hide 3d object template (start point) when making object transparent

    When making 3d object then making it transparent i still see form of witch i made it.
    How to remove it?
    I made square then from it 3d object and made it round so i could put on it beer botle label BUT when i put latel and then make transperancy full then i still see square from witch object is made.. Its still showing up. Why or better- how to remove it? Cant find any button to click it off.

    I'm also not so sure I understand what you're trying to do.
    If you share  an observablecollection then removing an item from that collection would remove it from any ListBox whose itemssource was bound to it.
    I get the impression that might not be what you want though.
    Hope that helps.
    Recent Technet articles: Property List Editing;
    Dynamic XAML
    for example:i have 3 listboxs,binding itemssource named list1,list2,list3
    in my way
    <ListBox Height="138" Margin="58,30,60,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Disabled" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListBoxItemStyle1}" ItemsSource="{DynamicResource list1}">
    </ListBox>
    <ListBox Height="138" Margin="58,30,60,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Disabled" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListBoxItemStyle1}" ItemsSource="{DynamicResource list2}">
    </ListBox>
    <ListBox Height="138" Margin="58,30,60,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Disabled" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource ListBoxItemStyle1}" ItemsSource="{DynamicResource list3}">
    </ListBox>
    in ListBoxItemStyle1 the method textBlock_MouseDown,i have no way to get the list correctly because the 3 listBox's ItemStyle is the same.if i can get the lists from listboxitem,i can use only one style

  • "Create new versions when making adjustments" - Lion, Aperture 3.1.3

    I recently upgraded to Lion, and then shortly thereafter to Aperture 3.1.3.
    While I don't seem to share everybody else's issues with Lion nor with Aperture, I do have one of my own.
    In Preferences -> Advanced, I have a box titled "Create new versiont when making adjustment."  It is checked.
    My expectation, (and the way things have always worked under Snow Leopard) is that if I select a master image and begin to make adjustments to it from _any_ feature int he adjustments pallette, that I new version will be created, stacked next to the original, and that the changes I am making will be made to the new version.  This is _not_ what is happening.
    Instead, the changes are applied directly to the master image.  This is annoying, and will probably be fixed in an update...    I thought the work around would be to manually create the version for the time being, until Apple sorts this out.  That didn't work either.
    If I manually create a version, and then proceed to make adjustments to the version, Aperture dows what I would have expected in the first place.  It creates a new version and applies the changes to that.
    For example, I right click on a master image and select "New Version form Master"  A new version, titled "... - Version 2" is created.  When I begin to modify Version 2, a new version is created titled "... - Version 3" and my changes are applied to this version... leaving me with the master and Version 2 which are now duplicates of each other.
    Even more interesting is this:
    Images that were imported into Aperture prior to the Lion upgrade, and the 3.1.3 patch behave as expected, in that a new version is created when adjustments are applied to a master image.
    Images that were imported into Aperture _after_ the upgrade to Lion and the 3.1.3 patch act as describd above, in that no new version is created when adjustments are applied to a master image.
    So...  Here are the questions:
    1. Is anybody else experiencing this?
    2. Does anybody know how to restore the correct behavior?

    Alright,   I have solved the problem.
    Some time ago, I thought it might be neat to import pictures with the Auto Exposure adjustment in place.  What I didn't realize was that if the master image is in the library with adjustments on it, it downs't create a new version when you add additional adjustments.
    As soon as I disabled that, and imported some new imges the probelm went away.
    Also... I went back to the six or seven project that I had imported while use Auto Exposure and removed that adjustment from those images...
    All is resolved.

  • Can I download software I have a physical copy/license for?

    I have a physical copy of CS6 (Production Premium) and I want to install just Photoshop on a laptop that does not have a working DVD drive. Is there some way I can install it using a download + my serial number?
    I only need it on the laptop for a couple of weeks while my normal desktop is being repaired, so would I just be better off using the trial version?

    The trial version should work just fine. The trial is fully functional, and if you just need to use the software for less than a month, I'd suggest using the trial.
    When it prompts you for the serial number, you can enter your serial number and convert it to a licensed copy.
    Entering the serial number, will activate the software and your activation count will increment. Remember to deactivate (Help > Deactivate) before you uninstall from the laptop.

  • Is there any way to turn off keypad sounds when making a phone call?

    I am a new user to iphone....is there any way to turn off sounds of keypad when making a manual phone call of someone not in address book?
    Thanks

    If I understand the question correctly, it is not about turning off keyboard clicks, it's about silencing the beeps made when manually keying in a  phone number. With keyboard clicks turned off, the beeps still sound when keying in a phone number. If I'm reading the iPhone User Guide correctly, it explains how to turn off keyboard clicks but not how to silence the   beeps when keying in a phone number. The only way I have found to silence the beeps is to put the phone into silent mode.
