Is A Technical Consultant Necessary For eCATT Tool ?

Hello All,
eCATT being the functional testing tool, business scenarios are tested via it. The tool is also designed in a very user-friendly manner.
Is technical consultants (ABAPers) intervention MANDATORY for the successful usage and execution of eCATT scripts.

In my opinion, yes - you will need some technical expertise to create worthwhile test scripts.
But now for the long answer...
Anyone who has taken a look at eCATT will have had the first impression that it is a technical tool - it looks a lot like an IDE, for example. Nevertheless, it would be possible to coach a non-technical user to be able to create a recording of a transaction that they know well.
This is, of course, only the first stage of creating the script: You then have to parameterize the input/output fields, set the desired checks, ensure that the scripts are created at the correct granularity to ensure maximum re-use and so on and so forth...
My suggestion would be a collaborative approach - end users can play an important role in specifying the scope of a test case - they can even sit down with a test expert and do the recording with them (since the test automation expert will probably not know the application all that well if at all) - but the technical expert will probably have to take over when it comes to refining the recording and chaining the scripts together.
Should this expert be an ABAP developer? Not necessarily. A test automation expert can be anyone who is not afraid to engage with a programming environment. Sure, a basic knowledge of ABAP helps, but a basic knowledge of any programming language at all would be helpful, IMO.

unfortunatley my company bought CS4, but a few employees also sometimes need to add dimensions to drawings similar like in CAD software for engineer drawings possible.
But it looks like that it is NOT working with Illustrator CS4. (although written in Wikipedia, that illustrator closes gap between CAD and pixel basing software.)
Is there any possibility to install plugin for Illustrator or is Illustrator having such tool ?

I have an AI Javascript that I built for my own convenience, which creates simple linear dimension callouts, as described here.
It is dependendent upon two Graphic Styles and one Paragraph Style which can be added to your documents (or templates) by copying / pasting from the .ai file that is included in the download .zip. However...
It is little unbelievable that Adobe, eliminated dimension tool from Illustrator. Why ?

Whomever wrote that should be horse-whipped. (Or worse, forced to do techish commercial drawing with Illustrator in a roomful of others who are using either Canvas or CorelDraw.) That is probably the worst mis-characterization of what Illustrator is that I have ever heard.

Probably. If dimension tools and a few other very common features necessary for techish illustration are a frequent need, absolutely. Illustrator not only lacks ordinary dimension tools, it also lacks:
Reliable snaps.
User-defined drawing scales.
Connector lines.
Callout objects.
Live shape primitives (rectangles, polygons, ellipses, arcs) with geometric parameters (corner radii, etc.) that can be adjusted after creation.
Proper corner rounding / chamfering commands.
Any feature assist for mechanically corrrect perspective construction.
Is there any other software from adope, which is able to work on .jpg picture and using dimensioning, too ?
JPEG is just a lossy compression format for raster images. I don't know what it, in particular, would have to do with what you have described so far (using a mainstream drawing program to make attractive commercial illustration based on line work exported from CAD software).
But unlike most of its direct competitors these days, Illustrator does not provide any features (other than the ability to apply Photoshop filters) for actually editing raster images. It can import a raster image (JPEG or other) and manipulate it as an object (rotate it, scale it, mask it, etc.). But there are no pixel-editing features.
You have not very well described what your company's needs are. But just given your mention of dimension tools as being important and your need for something to "bridge" between working product drawings and commercial product illustration, I dare say you would be far better off with Canvas, Corel Draw, or Corel Designer.
Unlike its competitors, Illustrator has always treated anything the least bit "techish" as if it's something to fear. It's competitors embrace it as what it is: a huge segment of the overall mainstream commercial illustration world. And it isn't just this seeming "technical" vs. "paper doily" aversion. Much of it is simply the fact that Illustrator has never kept up with its competitors in straighforward, no-nonsense path drawing features. Illustrator has always sat too fat-and-lazy on its Adobe label for market share.
People (including myself) do technical/commercial illustration in Illustrator all the time. Most commerical product illustration is of that nature. But in doing so, they constantly employ tedious, cumbersome, and time-wasteful workarounds for the pathetically weak feature set of Illustrator--or they buy add-ons which cost half what they paid for Illustrator all over again. (I've never understood that mindset. No matter how well-done the plug-in, it's never as cleanly-integrated with the overall program as built-in features; and you have to put up with everything that goes along with mission-critical dependency upon add-ons from small third-party providers.)

MBA is a higher degree course that you wanted to do it will be nothing to with your Past.
If you do it afterwards you are not going to do any type of coding's i guess.
So you can choose your subject of interest and the Market value and Explore that area fully .
I know if you wanted to do something and faith in yourself you can achieve anything in this world.

Step back - what do you enjoy doing? Which module have you learned about that you find interesting? Which one have you done more ABAP in? Which one might your current employer let you get experience in?
I think you have the answer you just need to think it through a bit.

1.develop the BI reports using the 'Query Designer' : BI Consultant Responsibility.
2.or will it be prepared by the BI consultant separately. : BI Bex queries can be designed by BI Consultant's only.
3. if prepared by the BI consultant then upto what extent BO consultant should have knowledge in BI   : Need to understand first difference b/w BI Reporting naming convention & BO Naming convention's ,
   Need to understand complexity of the report , Need to check some reporting functionalities won't support in BO what ever created in BEX

"Authorization error" while accessing Multiprovider in Analysis for excel tool

Hi,
We are using "Analysis for excel" 1.4 version. My users are executing all queries out of any MP with out any issue. But while accessing Multi Provider in "Analysis for excel" tool they are geeting "Authorization" error. Any suggestions please.

I'm facing the same problem, which basically is no issue but expected behaviour?!
Reason: When allowing access on Multiproviders via queries you probably restrict the data selection with authorization variables, where users have to select characteristics they are allowed to see.
In that way, you prevent that users can see data for which they are not authorized.
Finally, if the direct selection via Multiprovider was allowed without any restriction, your whole authorization concept would be for the birds :-)
In my case, I wanted to give users just an overview of the "last update dates" of several infocubes:

=SAPGetSourceInfo("DS_1"; "LastDataUpdate")
(... we all know that Multis can display only the oldest load date of any of all Cubes below....)
I even deleted the cross-tabs, and kept only the reference to the DS_x ... But still, when users try to refresh the data sources they are not even allowed to select pure technical Cube Information :-/

Creation of BC set for ECATT

I have created a ECATT for master data uploading. This created a request number. Now when I am trying to create a BC set using tcode SCPR3 and attaching the above created request it is giving me the following error:-
Message Number: S_CUS_IMG_ACTIVITY230
Diagnosis
Logical object ECAT is a lockable (TADIR-mandatory) object.
System Response
Lockable objects cannot be included in BC sets because, during the activation process, an entry would have to be written in the catalog of repository objects (table TADIR). However, this is not possible with BC sets.
Procedure
The object cannot be used in BC sets.
Kindly guide me as to how do i resolve this error and attach my Ecatt request in the BC set.

Procedure
Aassign existing preconfiguration, transactions or rReports
1.      Go to the structure element to which you want to assign preconfiguration, in the project structure.
2.      Choose BC Set, CATT, eCATT Test Configuration, Transaction, Program or Add-On Transport Request, in the Type column.
3.      If it is not a process step, enter a component from the possible entries help in the Component field.
4.      Make an entry in the Object column, or choose from the possible entries help for the Object field.
5.      Save your entries.
Assign IMG objects
1.      Go to the structure element in the reference structure to which you want to assign an IMG object.
2.      Choose IMG Object in the Type field.
3.      If it is not a process step, enter a component from the possible entries help in the Component field.
4.      Call the possible entries help for the Object field. You go to the Implementation Guide (IMG) of the selected component system.
5.      Choose one or more IMG object nodes and choose Select.
6.      Choose Copy Selected Nodes.
You have now assigned an IMG object to a structure element.The system goes back to the Configuration tab and fills in the Object and Description columns.
Create and assign preconfiguration
1.      Go to the structure element to which you want to assign preconfiguration, in the project structure.
2.      Choose a Type.
3.      To create a new BC Set, CATT or eCATT test configuration from the Configuration tab, enter a name in the Object field and choose Create.
4.      You go to one of the following transactions, depending on the object type:
     BC Set: BC Set Maintenance
     eCATT Test Configuration: Test Configuration (eCATT tool)
     CATT: Change test case.
5.      Enter the data required to create a new BC Set, eCATT test configuration or CATT.

Hi Aasma,
The standard BI Publisher is part of EBS applications.
Most of the EBS reports(R12) are based on BI Publisher.
If you check the responsibility 'XML Publisher Administrator' you will see all the templates used in the application.
Your technical team should already know this.
On the other hand OBIEE would need separate licences.
But for you BI Publisher would do.

Here is the step-by-step configuration approach in ALE.
- Create logical system (txn BD54)
- Assign client to Logical system (txn SCC4)
- Create RFC destination (txn SM59)
- Generate ports (txn WE21)
- Create partner profiles (txn WE20)
- Create distribution model (txn BD64)
Now you can use the required transactions like BD10 (to send materials), BD12 (to send customers), BD14 (to send vendors)....which would create the IDocs. You can view the generated IDocs via txn WE02 as you note down the system time when the IDocs are generated. You can use txn BD87 too to trace the IDocs at the sender...
If idoc is in status 51 or 52 process by program RBDMANI2 or in transaction BD87, If idoc is in 64 status process the idoc by program RBDAPP01.

Is Exception handler necessary for every stored subprogram

Hi All,
I knwo exception handler is very important. But is it necessary for every stored procedure or function?
For example,

This kind of simple procedures, do I have to add the 'exection when others than raise_application_error(-20001,'error in this SP')'?
I can't see obvious drawbacks without the exception handler in this CASE.

The exception is not an error.
The exception raised is a technical error, but may not be a business or processing error. The typical example is the NO_DATA_FOUND exception. The business logic may say "+when there is no fixed discounts found, apply a 5% dis-count+". So not finding (dis-count) row data in such a case is not an exception. Making the exception meaningful

Some exceptions will require you to clean up and fix what you can - kind of like action stations when a ship takes a hit. For example, you may have an open ref cursor or open UTL_FILE handle that needs to be closed when your code terminates. If not, your code will leak resources. So you need to trap exceptions that can occur, clean up, and then re-raise the exception (this is called a resource protection code block in other languages). You may have done a partial transaction - and the exception handler may need to roll back the changes your code made. The bottom line here is that you must re-raise the exception after you have done your "+action stations+" bit. You did not fix the exception. You did not make it more meaningful. In that case you must pass it back to the caller so that it can decide what it needs to do about that exception.
Using an exception for any other reason - that would likely be the wrong thing to do most of the time.

BPC Functional vs Technical Consultant

What is the difference between BPC Functional Consultant vs BPC Technical Consultant? Looking at Dice, there are many jobs for both fields but for Techincal consultant it seems you need more software specific knowledge.

Technical consultants require the in-depth knowledge of how BPC is configured. How are the objects created in the system. It basically involves the creation and configuration of various objects and functionalities in the system.
Functional Consultant needs to have a good understanding of the business and should also know how BPC works. Their responsibility includes understanding of the business requirement, and based on that they should be able to prepare the design document. This requires a good knowledge of the overall business, and also about the BPC system.

There are several rapid application development (RAD) tools, most of which can be used to develop applications against an Oracle database. Oracle's offerings in this area are:
Designer: This is our premium application development tool, suitable for extremely large, complex projects
Developer: This applications development tool allows you to quickly create forms based applications.
JDeveloper: Allows you to create Java based applications.
The ramp-up time on the first tool might eliminate it from consideration (Designer has so many capabilities that we have an entire curriculum devoted to helping application developers get the most out of it). I've thrown together quick, relatively simple applications using Developer in a matter of hours, but you will find that any tool will be slow going at first until you get used to its environment.
Of the non-Oracle offerings, my favorite has to be Inprise's Delphi. Like Oracle's Developer, it takes a while to get used to the development environment but I haven't seen too many things I wanted to do that couldn't be done in Delphi.

These are not universal technical terms with clear meanings. ALL job titles mean only what the person/organization using them means for them to mean.
Which will be good for you?
Only you can decide that, based partly on the answer to my first question, and partly on what you want out of life. (And notice I said "what you want out of *life*", not what you want out of a job, or a career.)
