Is Acrobat 7.0 Standard supported on Windows 8.1?

Will I be able to install Adobe Acrobat 7.0 on my new laptop running Windows 8.1 or will I have issues with functionality?  Thanks.

Hi deborahlong,
Here are the system requirements for Acrobat 7: System requirements for Acrobat Professional 7.0, Standard 7.0, 3D and Elements 7.0 (Mac, Windows and Unix for 3D only)
Windows 8.1 is not a supported operating system for Acrobat 7, so you may be able to install/use it, but Adobe Technical Support can't support any issues that may arise from using an unsupported operating system. (For what it's worth, I did find several posts on Microsoft's website from folks who have been able to use Acrobat 7 in Windows 8.1.) But, again, it is not a supported environment.
Best,
Sara

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard version in Windows 8.1 and when I try to create a .pdf file, I receive the following error message "Acrobat could not open "file name.log" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.  To create a PDF document, go to the source application then print the document to .pdf"  I am going to the source application and printing the document to .pdf yet it's saving the file as a .log file.  After reinstalling the software, I initially didn't encounter this problem but on my second and third attempts to convert files to .pdf format, this error message reappeared.  How do I resolve this problem?

I have a similar problem which i did not have before...and it exists only in some powerpoint files which i want to print as a pdf file...and i get the same message as above.

  • How do I get Firefox to use the Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard plugin to open PDF docs in the browser window?

I have Acrobat 9.0 Standard installed on my laptop and I've followed the guides provided by Adobe and Firefox for using the provided Adobe plugin file with Firefox so that I can view PDF documents in the Firefox browser window, but neither one has worked for me. I have the location of the Nppdf32.dll file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Browser) and Acrobat is configured to "Display PDF in browser", but whenever I open a pdf on a website, my options are still only to either open it externally with Acrobat or save it. What do I do?

Your response identifies the issue exactly! My website is hosted by GoDaddy. I have forwarded your linked information to their tech department. The URL below my signature is the site having the problem I've outlined when attempting to access linked images.

  • Cannot Create PDF Acrobat 9.4 Standard Windows 7, 64 bit

    Hi,
Currenlty my colleague and I have the same issue; we cannot create PDF documents using Acrobat 9.4 Standard or the office plug in, and there is no PDF printer available after the acrobat installation either.
We are both using Windows 7, 64 bit version. I have checked and confirmed Acrobat 9 on Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2007 should be compatible.
    * When using the 'Create PDF from file' feature from Acrobat we get the following error: "Unable to find "Adobe PDF" resource files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?"
I have run the installer in repair mode multiple times, same isssue occurs after this is done.
    * When using the Acrobat plug-in for office, for example in Word (we both use Office Professional 2007) and selecting 'Create PDF' it will prompt for a save location, after select save nothing happens, and there is no PDF file created in the save locaton.
So far I have tried the following without any success:
    - Un-installing and re-installing acrobat, multiple times
    - running the acrobat application in compatability mode for Windows XP
    - attempted to create PDF files from older word versions i.e. .doc and .docx have the same issue
    - attempted to manually install PDF printer using the acrobat installation files - did not work
    * I am aware that Office 2007 will allow me to save a document as PDF, however we still need acrobat for the publishing quality and editing features.
Any help or suggestions regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated :-)
    Kind Regards,
    Wade

I understand what you are suggesting. I have two laptops the same model. AA works on one but not the other.  I do have office 7 and a 64 bit OS.
    Thanks for the help

If you are running a 64-bit version of OFFICE 2007 (if one exists), that may be the issue. AA X did not work with that version until the most recent release as I understand it. Since you have AA 9.4, I am not sure of the compatibility of it with the 64-bit version. It is strange that the printer does not appear. It seems a few others have had similar problems and as I recall, someone made a suggestion to fix that recently -- though it may have been for AA X. You might search on 64-bit or such.

  • Does Acrobat X Standard Support "Edit Page Numbering Format"

In Acrobate X Pro, I can edit page numbers using the "Edit Page Numbering Format" feature. This is the icon in the Customize Quick Tools dialog box:
One of my users wants to know if Acrobat X Standard supports that feature?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,
Yes, the 'Number Pages' option from 'Document Processing' is available in Acrobat X Standard too.  This tool functions the same in both Acrobat X Standard and Professional.
This page provides a nice overview of the functionality differences between Std. and Pro.: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html

  • Acrobat 8 standard compatibility with windows 8

i purchased adobe acrobat 8 standard (product code 90071455) several years ago for my windows xp machine.  i want to install it in my new windows 8 machine.  is it compatible? is there an update/patch?

    Hi Terry,
Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Windows 8 and may not work properly even if you install it.
I recommend to upgrade to Acrobat 11 which latest version and fully compatible with Windows 8.

    correct.
It appears the options for a similar product are subscription based and my previous versions were purchased outright.
correct, if you want to use on both pc and mac.   but you only want to use on mac, can also upgrade to acrobat xi for mac.

  • Will Acrobat 9 Standard work on Windows 8.1

Will Acrobat 9 Standard work on Windows 8.1?

It may, but you might expect potential problems with the print driver and such, even if Acrobat and Distiller work. I do not remember anyone reporting on AA9 with Win8.1, so only trying it will let you know for sure. Also, be sure you let us know of any issues and/or success if you try it.

Anybody know how to get Acrobat 7.0 Standard to start working again on Windows 8?

    Hi w3oody,
Acrobat 7 Std. is a very old software and has not been tested and is incompatible with Windows 8.
Please consider purchasing the subscription to the latest version of Acrobat 11.

  • ¿Funciona Acrobat 9.0 (Standard o Profresional) en Windows Surface Pro 2?

    Hola,

    Saludos

  • Will Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard Work With Adobe Reader 8.2.4?

    Hello,
I have a question, but haven't found an answer to this yet.
Can anyone tell me please:  Will Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard work with Adobe Reader 8.2.4?
I had Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard on my computer & it was working with Adobe Reader 8, but don't remember what the version it was.
I was using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard to scan very old family pictures & documents & I realize that this version of Acrobat is outdated.
To make a long story short, my computer had crashed, so we built another computer & just replaced the hard drive.  When I went to Adobe, I had to download the newer version of Reader 9.0 & it didn't work with Acrobat 6.0., so I removed Adobe Reader 9 & I found Adobe Reader 8.0 & have downloaded the patches, so now I have Adobe Reader 8.2.4 back on board.
    Thank you.

Adobe doesn't recommend any version of Reader with any version of Acrobat on Windows. It will cause problems. It just is a matter of how and when. The problem has to do with shared resources causing conflicts. If you have Acrobat 8, you can update it to Acrobat 8.2.4. You must apply the updates sequentially.

  • Acrobat 7.0 Standard can DOCX be converted to PDF

I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard version 7.1.0.  I am unable to create a PDF from a DOCX file (Word 2010).
    Is this conversion supported?
Also, I am using Windows 7 Professional, and I don't have the ability to right-click to convert to PDF.  How can I get this back?
    thanks in advance.

If you can use AA7 on Win 7, you may be successful. However, you will have to print to the Adobe PDF print. If you were using an earlier version of WORD (2003), then PDF Maker may work. In any case, AcroTray will likely not work. That means you will have to print to the Adobe PDF printer with print-to-file selected. Then open that file in Distiller to complete the process. A bit combersome, but may work. I have done it with AA5 and Win 7 starter -- a bit of a pain and an upgrade is really appropriate. If you have a 64 bit system, you may be totally out of luck.
So, you may be successful in getting AA7 to work in some sense. Do not expect perfection of no errors. Good luck.

  • Update for Acrobat 6.0 Standard

    Hello,
I am the System Admin for a small business.
We are running Acrobat 6.0 Standard.
Is Acrobat 6.0 Standard going to get (or already has) the patch for the latest security vulnerability?

This is a user forum, not Adobe help... so it is unlikely that any user here knows Adobe's plans
You might directly check the update site to see what is available
Apply all updates IN NUMBER ORDER
    Acrobat Update http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows
Also, to report problems or ask for new features directly at Adobe, click

sure to include all information, so they may reproduce the problem
