  • Upgrade support for users on 10.6 and above

    Last updated April 23rd 2015
    Hello Skype Community,
Those of you that have been using older versions of Skype for Mac until now have recently seen a prompt to upgrade Skype when trying to sign in. More information on why we are retiring older version here: http://blogs.skype.com/2014/07/16/update-skype-now-to-improve-your-experience/
There was some confusion on which Skype version is supported on which OS X version. TLDR:
    Skype is available on OS X 10.6 - 10.10.
See below for which Skype version to use per OS X version your are on:
    OS X 10.9 "Mavericks" & 10.10 "Yosemite"
Just use latest Skype version from www.skype.com/go/download
    OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard", 10.7 "Lion" & 10.8 "Mountain Lion"
Latest version is 6.15.x.335 from http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-mac/downloading/
This is a solid release and you can still use all of the main features (i.e. group video, group chats, screen sharing etc). NB: only use the link above, it serves you with a correct update for your OS version. Direct links (to DMG files) can work, but are not guaranteed to do so.
That said, we encourage you to stay up to date, meaning upgrading to the latest Mac OS X version available for your Mac and getting the latest Skype available for your system.
If you have problems updating, please let us know in this thread and the community will try to help you.

I'll be happy to get skype back on my very old secondary laptop that still must remain on 10.5.8 ... it cannot be updated, so at least I'll be able to get my skype back. In the future, I hope you'll make sure NOT to disable a previous version of skype until you've verified that the new downloaded version will install on that person's configuration. It should just say sorry, you can't update your version of skype, not disable your current working version and then say that.

  • Remote panel plugin support for Firefox browser?

I think I've been through all the relevant material on the NI site, but to no avail. I used to be able to make Remote Panels work with Mozilla by copying the NPLVWin32.dll into the Mozilla plugins directory. This doesn't seem to work with Firefox--at least, not with my Firefox.
I have XP, Firefox 1.0, and LabVIEW 7.1.1, and these tests are all on the machine that has LabVIEW installed, so the run-time engine is not the issue. The symptom is that I get "Click here to download plugin" when trying to load a page with an embedded panel no matter what things I do in the Firefox plugins folder.
Any ideas? I think that Firefox/Mozilla are closing in on 10% market penetration, with much higher rates in Europe, and I'm wondering if others have made this work. This experience has also made me want to know more about how browser plugins work (how the supporting library is selected and located by the browser, how the OBJECT and EMBED tags work, etc.), so good tips on explanatory nuggets are also appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

I have no issues using remote panels in Firefox (2.0) I believ 1.5 worked as well.

  • Plugin support for a GUI

    Hi,
I am in the process of adding plugin support for a Java-based GUI and have the following question: is it possible for the plugin to be non-Java code - that is, is it possible to load/execute a plugin software that is not written in Java. For example if I had a C program to do something, can I invoke that program as a plugin from a Java application? Any pointers that would help me to achieve this would be great help.
    Thanks.

Intune is an OS management solution that among other things will push software to managed systems. Intune uses an agent installed on the managed systems to accomplish its tasks.
Depending on the meaning of the word "client", Intune is probably not what you are looking for. Are you an IT organization managing "client" computers or are you a software vendor with "clients/customers" who use your application?

  • Mcafee poped up telling me that Plugin Container for Firefox wants to access to the Internet, do I allow it or do I block it?

Firefox seems to crash alot for me and when it does a window pops up telling me the problem is with my Plugin Container for firefox. • How do I suppress "plugin container for firefox has stopped working" ?

I am doing some Flash programming and using Firefox to debug. Every time I end the debug session from Flash Builder I get the error "Plugin container for firefox has stopped working". Is there a way to suppress this false error message? There is not a problem with the container or any plugins, simply that Firefox thinks the container has crashed because it is being closed by the IDE. I have already had to change several options to suppress false error alerts, but just seem to get new ones like this.

Firefox uses the plugin-container process to run plugin out of the current Firefox process (Out-Of-Process-Plugins) and you may not see the plugin mentioned. Flash uses protected mode by default and that causes two plugin-container processes to be active.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers<br>https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Loud static on speakers which disappear when I mute Plugin Container for Firefox on Volume Mixer

When I started my laptop this problem appeared. There is no static when I mute the speakers on Volume Mixer, which mutes Speakers, Windows Sounds and Plugin Container for Firefox.
When I only mute Plugin Container for Firefox it also silences the static.
    Could the problem be here?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  JohnWhite,
I understand that your speakers on your HP Pavilion g7-2325dx Notebook PC continues to emit sound when you plug your headphones in and that you got an error stating "audio device isn't set as default". I will try my best to help you with this.
    Try the following steps.
    1. Click Start
    2. Go to Control Panel
    3. Select "Hardware and Sound"
    4. Select "Sound"
    5. Right click the box and choose "Show Disabled Devices"
    6. Make sure that your audio device is enabled for your notebook. It should have a green check mark.
    7. Then in your Audio system under the Enhancements tab, check the box for "disable all enhancments".
If this does not resolve your issue, then I suggest reinstalling the audio software and driver Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8).
I hope this information helps, please let me know how it goes.
Take care and have a great day!

  • Why is the message 'Plugin container for Firefox has failed' while using ArcadeOX appearing even after un/reinstalling it all?

I am attempting to play online games using the 'ArcadeOX' plugin.
The game will not load and a window pops up with the message 'Plugin container for Firefox has failed'.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both ArcadeOX and Firefox several times and still have the same problem.
Windows 'attempts' to find a solution online but still nothing.

  • Plugin Container for Firefox has stopped working ~ DivX Web Player plugin crashed

    Hi Everyone,
Probably I should begin by saying anything computer-related is like walking blindfold in a pitch dark room. Seriously "tech-impaired" here (i'd go to someone who knows but tight budgets are a pain too... so if anyone here could help fix this I'd be forever thankful.
The first part of the title line is what appears to me in a little message window. YouTube and Hulu work OK, but there's this site "Icefilms (dot) info" -the one that I mostly use- that's the one with the problem.
It was all working just fine until last Monday night (June 20/2011) and it's not just with Firefox that I have this problem, cause when i tried to use Google Chrome it was the same thing, which makes me think it's not an Internet browser problem, I tried changing Firefox (5) to an older version, but instead of just the video widow, the whole thing crashes.

    Google Earth Plugin
    GEPlugin Outdated Version Update
    Plugin Icon
    RealPlayer Version Plugin
    6.0.12.69 Outdated Version
Still saying I need updates but when I update it says I have current versions already.
Also still keep getting plugin container for firefox has stopped working. But I'm not see a problem with anything.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

  • Firefox crashes with error message: "Plugin Container for Firefox has stopped working"

When I open Firefox it seems to be working fine for one minute, then everything freezes and I receive the following error message:
"Plugin Container for Firefox has stopped working
--> Check online for a solution and close the program
    --> Close the Program"
Neither option restores Firefox and I'm left with a frozen (white blurry Not Responding) screen. When I click on the X button, then I get the regular "Firefox is not responding" message and the whole program just shuts down.
Should I disable all plugins and / or this plugin container? How can I do that, if Firefox keeps crashing?
Basically, how can I fix this? Thanks a lot!

I found the issue was with the Nik Filters I was using. The filters were messing with Photoshop's initializing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the filters and now Photoshop works like a charm.
It appears this forum is dead?!
Thankfully, I was able to troubleshoot on my own and figured out the problem...

  • "plugin container for firefox stopped working" I'm just your average joe thx

source: "plugin container for firefox" summary: "stopped working"
in addition I receive messages "firefox stopped responding" never had this before, and on the lower task bar when ff and outlook are open, they will "swap places" Thanks

    Update
Ok so after uninstalling quicktime then scrubbing the hard drives for any and all associated files/folders and then cleaning the registry, rebooting then reinstalling quicktime it works, but only 60 % of the time (seems as though if you have opened any kind of drop down list or used a diff plugin on that page already the quicktime plugin and firefox hang. If you open the page and use the quicktime plugin before anything else it semms to be ok.
Zsolto Chrome really!!!!! With the amount of information gathered by Google and the things they do with it which are borderline criminal if not criminal why on earth would you use such a program???
There is an open source version out there created by other people that is just as good and doesn't monitor your every move.

  • Is there any way to not use the plugin container for firefox?

Is there any way to not use the plugin container for firefox? Ever since I updated, my firefox browser has been crashing almost every day and it always says that the plugin container crashed, but the rest of firefox freezes up as well, so I am forced to end the process itself.

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin-container_and_out-of-process_plugins
You can set the prefs dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.* to false on the about:config page to disable the plugin-container process.
dom.ipc.plugins.enabled (currently false by default in Firefox 3.6.6)
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll (Flash)
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll (Silverlight)
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll (QuickTime)
