Is Adobe Connect a good way?

I have to give a course to 100 people (or even a bit more). Is Adobe Connect a good choice? Does it support so many users simultaneously following the same person?
Many thanks for your help!
alb

Adobe Connect Meetings are intended to support up to 100 concurrent attendees (you count as one, so think of it as you and 99 others), while the Seminar or Webinar rooms are able to handle 200-1500 concurrent attendees.
Is it a good choice? Many people think so, and I have had good success over the years of reaching groups large and small with Connect. Most of the time, it is done with little to no issue, as all that is required is that the attendee has a reasonably current version of FlashPlayer and Internet access. Many times it comes down to personal preference of the tool available, and functions/workflows within that tool. I may be a bit bias, but I would say it is a good tool.

  • What's the best way to capture speech as text in live or recorded Adobe Connection sessions?

    Hi
What's the best way to capture speech as text in live or recorded Adobe Connection sessions?
We would like to have a transcript of the presentation. Is Adobe Connect compatible with Dragon speech recognition software - or is there a preferred Adobe product or method?
We use PCs running Windows 7 Enterprise.

The class java.util.Date is not itself deprecated, however several of its methods are.
For converting string -> date, you should use the class java.text.SimpleDateFormat. That allows you to specify format strings such as MM-dd-yyyy hh:mm:ss for converting date -> string -> date.
If you are wanting to set day/month/year on the date object directly, instead of the Date methods setDay, setMonth, setYear, you should instead use the java.util.Calender class:
    calendar.set(Calendar.MONTH, 4);
The calendar can then be converted to a Date object by calling calendar.getTime().
If you are going to use the date as part of a sql query, I would recommend using a Prepared statement, and the java.sql.Date/java.sql.Timestamp class as well.
To convert from java.util.Date to java.sql.Date)
    jva.util.Date utilDate = Calendar.getInstance().getTime();
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getTime());cheers,

  • Anyone know simple way to sync Adobe Flash to Adobe Connect 8?

I am hosting a Webinar using Adobe Connect Seminar software and our company would like to share a PowerPoint that includes several Adobe Flash files.
Does anyone have experience with Seminars, and know the simplest way to share flash files?
I read an article stating that I could upload the files individually as SWF files and share them into different PODS. I have the original annimation in an exe file, however I do not know if/how I can convert it to SWF files.
I would like to avoid the Adobe Presenter Plug In.

I don't know of a way to do this but someone might be able to chime in.  If you haven't already, I'd also recommend posting on the connect forum.

  • ADOBE Connect Web Service Transaction ID

    Hi All,
Hope I can make my question clear, but here goes.
We are integrating an LMS into ADOBE Connect , so far so good. Managed to write all our intergration classes and all is working great. My question is as follows, If we launch a URL (SCO Content) the content launches and we can see the "attempt" via the report-user-training-transcripts webservice. This works well if we assume that all attempts are going to be logged and the users internet is working correctly etc.
Is there a way when we launch to uniquely identify what the "transaction-id" will be. This means on our LMS side we know we launched with this transaction-id and when we read the transcript we can just filter for that specifictransaction-id. If there is no transaction-id this could be that the user closed before the content launched or there was a network issue.
In short I want to know what SCO I am launching from the LMS to match the attempt with the transaction-id. I have tried to send through a custom field, but it does not pull through on the report..
    Any suggestions would help?

  • Deploy Adobe Connect for outside user access

I am deploying Adobe Connect 8.2.0 and it works great internally on my domain running SSL on both the App and Meeting Server. I was wondering what is the best way to grant access to outside users to connect to meetings hosted from my "on-premise" Adobe Connect Server? By best way, I mean the most secure not only for Adobe Connect but as well as my domain.
I thought about standing up an Edge server in the DMZ but I was told not many companies do this for what I am looking for, and that mostly they simply use a proxy and poke some holes in the firewall to let in the traffic.
So how does everyone else do it?

In my experience, most people don't like to "poke some holes int he firewall" as it poses other security risks. The Edge server is a valid method of getting externall access to the Connect server. However for getting advice on how other people have done this, I would post your question to the Connect User Community at http://www.connectusers.com/forums/cucbb/
There are many knowledgeable Connect Admins there and they should have good advice for you there.

  • Adobe Connect screen hangs; file won't open

Have created a dynamic .pdf form in Acrobat 9 (using
LiveCycle ES) to send to 200 respondents. Are in testing now; find
that we have trouble opening forms from the email invitation, even
after installing both the Flash player 10 and the free Adobe 9
    reader.
Simply get the Adobe Connect screen; nothing else happens.
Have tried pre-opening the reader, doesn't help.
Suggestions? This will be a disaster if we cannot distribute,
and right now I have no backup plan.
We have had good success distributing non-dynamic .pdfs this
    way.

I have responded to your Correction posting.

  • Adobe Connect Recordings Frozen

I have been using Adobe Connect for 6 months now without any problem.  I'm guessing that with the update, some things are a little different.  In any case, I don't have any issues with the meetings themselves--it is the recordings that are freezing and nonfunctional.
The first 30 minutes of the recording are normal, but then the video and audio go silent.  Is there any way to fix this and salvage the recordings?

I've had this issue before and had to contact Adobe support to fix this. Because sometimes this takes a while to fix, you might want to ScreenFlow or use some other screen recording software to as a backup; that's what we have done. Good luck!

  • Adobe Connect Meeting Room sitting at Connecting...

    Hello,
I am trying to currently troubleshoot an issue with a Windows 2003 Standard Edition. Our Adobe Connect server was up and operational, but as of recently now you can login to the site. You cannot however load up and into a meeting room. I am trying to find any way to resolve this issue because I do not have an answer to give on this one. As of right now I can ping the server, remote into the server, and access the web site. I can access the console.htm and see everything is connected and good to go.
No I am not utilizing SSL, no I am not trying to tunnel anything. I am wondering if it is because of a recent issue with either DNS or because it is installed on a VM. The reason I say this is because as of recently my Virtual Infrastructure Client is now not allowing me to console into my server via client. So all the information is currently the best of what I am capable of providing. Any insight and / or help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds to me like the FMS server for Connect may need to be reset. I would start all Connect services on that server, then restart them, starting with the FMS server, then the Connect Application server. If that doesn't resolve it, it could be due to port blocking or some other firewall issue.

  • Can Adobe Connect run Flash Catalyst documents?

I want to create a prize catalog tool that employees can browse within Adobe Connect while attending an event meeting. I created a test document with Flash Catalyst just to make sure I could upload to Connect, and it's a good thing i did. When I uploaded the .zip file to my content library inside Central Login, I could click on the content link and it opened in its own window and worked beautifully. However, when I tried to navagate to that file from inside a share pod, it didn't come up on the list of supported documents, and it wouldn't let me load the zip file directly into the share pod from my computer, either. I noticed that the base file for Catalyst creations is main.swf. Connect accepts SWFs and flash files that contain SWFs, but they must also have an index.swf file, and the files that Catalyst generates don't include one. Is there a way to change that, or anything else I could do so that I can use Catalyst to create my app for inside Adobe Connect?
Thanks in advance for your time and expertise,
    -Pauline

Well, Connect 8 supports files from Flash Professional and from Adobe Flex. I've not seen any integration with Flash Catalyst. Adobe Connect came from the Macromedia acquisition and so is a Flash app running on top of the Flash Player but we recommend using Adobe Presenter and Flash Professional or Adobe Captivate or Adobe Flex as tools to create content. If I see any mention of Catalyst I'll post but to date I've not seen where we support it.

  • How can I get my web cam to work in Adobe Connect ?

This is actually an end user's question that I am having trouble answering to...
We use Adobe Connect to give online language classes, the end user is one of the students.
I cannot find the right Support answer to give him.
    Problem:
My camera does not work when I connect to Adobe's rooms but camera works fine with other software.
Even though I suspected my old camera was working fine, yesterday I went ahead and bought a new camera.
I thought perhaps my webcam software may have been a problem, so I bought a different type camera with different software.
Even after removing all the old software, same result:
I surmised the problem might be caused by my firewall and security software, so once I tried changing the permissions for Adobe, and my Webcam, but that didn’t work.
Another time, I restarted my computer right before class and then turned off my firewall completely so there would be no interference but to no avail. I’m totally perplexed.
Isn’t there anyone else experiencing a similar problem?   Has anyone else found a solution?
I run Windows Vista with McAfee Internet Security Software.  I always reboot the computer before class and open no other programs other than Google Chrome.
I now have a brand new Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Camera with LifeCam 3.5 Webcam Software.
I test my camera before going online.  It always works fine.   Then I shut down the camera program and login into class.
When I “connect webcam” in the room, the light on my camera comes on (suggesting that it is ON), but only a black image is transmitted to the room.

Check to see if you have Google Voice installed. If so, remove it and see
if your problem vanishes. If not Google Voice, check to see if you have
any other communications software which interacts with your cam and
disable it. This was the problem I had with a similar problem on a Mac.

Thanks a lot Heyward for the swift reply !
I sent the advice out to the end user, but unfortunately this wasn't the
    solution.
    His reply is below :-
The default resolution of my new camera is already set at 640x360, but I
went ahead and tried several lower resolutions (e.g. 424x240; 320x240; and
160x120) but none worked in the room - camera still showed up as black
blank screen.  Also, as far as I can tell, I don’t have the option of
    adjusting the frame rate.
I started playing around with my Internet Security Settings to see if they
might be playing a role. So far, all to no avail.
Hmm...quite a tricky one - webcams always are - maybe if he can find a way
to adjust the frame rate (?).
He's going to fiddle about with the settings a bit more and see if
    something does the trick.
If anyone has had a similar problem and found an ingenious solution,
please jot on a note on this thread.

  • Is there a good way to automate changing existing links to external PDFs to instead be to PDF attachments with same names?

    Greetings!
Can anyone tell me a good way to automate changing a "main" PDF's existing hyperlinks to external PDFs to instead be links to PDF attachments to the main PDF (the attached PDFs to have the same filenames as the external PDFs) ?
Format of current link in main PDF:
Go to a page in another document
    File: C:\\path\filename.pdf
    Destination name: P:1
When link is manually changed to link to a PDF that has been attached to the main PDF:
Go to a page in another document
    File: PDF attachment
    Page: 1
    Zoom level: Fit page
The new PDF link does not list the PDF attachment filename in the link.
The main PDF (the one that has the links that I would like to automatically change) is generated with the hyperlinks to other PDFs from Adobe FrameMaker 11.  In FrameMaker11, we added special marker text "openpage filename.pdf:1" that is "automatically" changed to be hyperlinks to external PDFs when the main PDF is created (postscript file is processed) by Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.
My first choice is to be able to change the format of the special marker text in Adobe FrameMaker source file, but I have not found way to specify a link to be to a PDF attachment with a certain filename.
However, I would also really like the option of running a batch file on a main PDF to change the links there.
Has anyone tried using that Adobe ExtendScript ToolKit CS6 to do this? That is, a script that could automatically modify the hyperlinks in a PDF to link to PDF attachments rather than external PDFs, or else modify the unprocessed links while they are still in Postscript file format, or else modify the marker text in FrameMaker to instead of creating a link to a PDF in the same directory as the main PDF being processed, to create a link to a PDF attachment files?
    Thank you,
    Judith Wallace
    [email protected]

FrameMaker's Hypertext feature has no ability to "link" to an attachment on/in a target PDF.
PDFs sourced from FM can have named destinations set in the FM authoring files such that a link from file01.fm to the specified named destination in file01.fm will be functional in the PDFs created from the FM files.
Then, of course, there's the dynamics possible by use o FM Books. But that's the grist for the mills at the FM user-2-user forum.
RE: Scripting - PDF scripting is via Acrobat JavaScript. That something still of and by Adobe although it may migrate to an ISO Standard (or be rolled up in a future ISO 32000).
So, to the point - look to Acrobat JavaScript for scripting.
    Be well...

Nope. Looks good though and glad you got it sorted.

  • Adobe Tech told me HONESTLY that Adobe Connect will NOT work like the Adobe site demo

I am seconds away from subscribing to gotomeeting.com (Which is a GREAT and REALLy easy to use product).
I really want the white board featues, etc. At first I could NOT connect at all...then with an Adobe TEch (FROM INDIA) online with me (very patronizing to me also, by the way). I could connect and when I clicked on "Share My Screen" the adobe connect window minimizes itself and becomes useless to me.
I was told that the tech COULD see my screen. I asked how I would know that. He ACTUALLY told me that the ONLY way I could see the CONNECT window and see all the participants, let other share screens and see and use the whiteboarding is to GET A SECOND COMPUTER!!!!
I HAVE TO USE TWO COMPUTERS in order to use the features demo'd in the demo video.
Isn't that the MOST obsurd thing you could tell someone. AND if it is true, what a piece of carp program.
Too bad, the product does not remotely work like the demo
AND even worse, the tech support has NO IDEA how to use this product and told me IN THESE WORDS that the product DOES NOT REALLY DO WHAT THE DEMO SAYS IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    What a nightmare!

Wow ... well all I can say is I've been using Connect for 2 years for remote training and for webinars and all sorts of stuff, and in general I'm thrilled with it.  I've used the freebie ConnectNow service (via Acrobat.com), the $39.95/mo. Connect Standard account (hosted, up to 15 participants), and for the past 1.5 years, the Connect Pro account, also hosted.
When you are sharing your screen, you don't see any of the Connect "room" interface; all you see is your screen. This is how most of the services work in my experience. If you're just showing a Powerpoint demo that you've uploaded to your account previously, then you *can* see the panels etc. in the Connect room.
Almost all of my demos/webinars/training involved me sharing my screen, so yes, I do connect a second laptop to the room, logging on as a guest, so I can see what my participants see, and I can see what the lag time is. I don't think that's out of the ordinary.
I started using Connect after nightmares with WebEx and other services. It's really important to me that everything works equally on Macs as well as Windows; and so far Connect is great that way.
I do agree the Support is a pain and Connect is missing some features. But all in all it's been nice and stable for me and my clients. You should check out http://connectusers.com; there are wonderful forums and expert users and tutorials over there.
